Located in Kopřivnice, a small town in Monravia region, Czech Republic, TATRA Technical Mueum is the most comprehensive collection devoted to the Kopřivnická vozovka company, later made famous as the phenomenal TATRA vehicle factory. More than sixty passenger cars and trucks from all the production stages are supplemented with chassis, engines, models, design proposals, trophies from sports events, contemporary photographs and various other rare items. Multi-lingual videos showing films of automobile gems provide a great deal of interesting and comprehensive information Tatra is a Czech vehicle manufacturer in Kopřivnice. It is owned by the Tatra Trucks company and is the third oldest company in the world producing cars with an unbroken history. The company was founded in 1850 as Ignatz Schustala & Comp., in 1890 renamed in German Nesselsdorfer Wagenbau-Fabriksgesellschaft when it became a wagon and carriage manufacturer. In 1897, Tatra produced the first motor car in central Europe, the Präsident automobile. In 1918, it changed its name to Kopřivnická vozovka a.s., and in 1919 changed from the Nesselsdorfer marque to the Tatra badge, named after the nearby Tatra Mountains on the Czechoslovak-Polish border (now on the Polish-Slovak border).

If you love cars and want to learn something about Tatra cars, I recommend visiting the Tatra Museum. A large number of cars with labels and other attractions.

Perfect place for all trucking lovers. Place full of history for young and old. Wide collection of all Tatra trucks, historical amazing achievements in motor sports (exhibits from the Paris Dakar, or formula trucks), military, civilian or construction vehicles all at one place! You can spend 30 minutes at the museum but can be consumed by a visit for a whole day. A kid-friendly place, some attractions like trucks you can ride (max 120 cm. tall kids), or some interesting interactive devices (like a wall with vehicle lights). I am glad that there are places as important as the truck museum.

2 nd visit to this area and decided to go take a look. Wow. Great museum. If you interested even vaguely in cars and trucks it's most impressive. The older vehicles, pre 1930 are spectacular. The designs were superb. Great details and well laid out. There are even aircraft! Fridges, bowl choppers and electric motors. They have a few trucks but the Paris Dakar machines are amazing. I was shocked at how great it is and I never really knew about it. Shows from the very beginning 1890 odd through to today. Also the World trips to Africa and South America in the 1950's Quiet amazing. Go take a look, you will not be disappointed.

If you’d like to visit be prepared that there are actually several museums on different location. The main in the center is focused just on personal vehicles, there’s another museum for trucks where can be found speed train Slovenska Strela. Recommended is to reserve at least 3h for both museums visits. There are another museums Fojstvi and Lasske museum as well. The personal car museum is old style which obviously didn’t go through any refurbishment long time, while truck museum is stunning and new architectural shine.

I was impressed how many interesting models of personal cars and also how many other non-car products were made by TATRA. If you want to know and listen to all details you should reserve at least two hours for this tour.

Amazing place, but you need to know that it's dedicated to passenger cars. Tatra truck museum is somewhere else.

Only 4 stars because Tatra II museum deserves 5.

Many cars starting from early days of motorisation, through twenties and thirties up to the after world war socialist era. Sport cars, limousines and cars for ordinary people. It's a pity I was not able to see Slovak Bolt - fast train with aerodynamic body - it was not there because of refurbishment. There are aeroplanes, trophy trucks and utility trucks too. Great place. I've been in that kind of place in Warsaw and Washington but many years ago. I suggest it to everyone if you haven't been in such place since last 3-5 years.

This is Tatra Kopřivnice Museum which is the famous producers of large vehicles trucks Tatra from Czech Republic. When I was here at the museum in a year 2016, it was called the Tatra Kopřivnice museum, and there were Tatra cars and also Tatra trucks. Today, however, everything is different. This museum is now called a personal vehicles Tatra museum Kopřivnice. Because the Tatra company opened a new museum on November 17, 2021 at a different location, where it moved all Tatra trucks and named the second museum Tatra Trucks Kopřivnice, which was created in the reconstructed building of the former foundry of the TATRA automobile company. Anyway this photographs presents the current Tatra Museum Kopřivnice with personal vehicles. So what to expect here. TATRA personal vehicles from all stages of production. The exhibition is complemented by chassis, engines, models, designer designs, a few trophies from sports competitions, period photographs and various rarities. How the museum has developed over 70 years and the exhibition has grown and is still improving. After the entry of the new Czech owners to Tatra company in 2013, Messrs. Jaroslav Strnad and René Matera, several important acquisitions were made the purchase of the extensive collection of the private collector Mr Jiří Hlach. Which helped improve the variety of cars and quality of the exhibit collection. And this current Exposition consists of several parts, which are limited in time and thematically. The phenomenon of the production of aerodynamic limousines is presented in the aerodynamic hall, where you will find the first prototype V 570, the first series-produced aerodynamic type Tatra 77a, or the T 87.  There are also types of aerodynamic Tatra planes from post-war the production - T 600 Tatraplan. The all history and information about cars and museums you can find on the Tatra Museum Kopřivnice website and that I highly recommend to visit both Tatra Museums.

Lack of Polish translation is disappointing, English has a lot of room for improvement. Great place for kids, could be bit more interactive.

Nice cars, thorough description, but old and not interactive at all. This is incredibly sad as you could imagine much more with such rich history. I'd even date to say the place is not suitable for kids unless they are extremely interested in cars.

Great collection of Tatra cars. All trucks have been removed to a new location in the area due to open in fall 2021. Paid parking at the shopping mall on the north side.

Very nice. It's great to spend time here if the weather is bad. The staff is extremely friendly and speaks English which is extremely helpful.

A nice spot for a rainy half-day. History of the local made carriage, cars, trucks, planes or trains can certainly attract the technical enthusiast and be interesting for th elaymen. The side exhibition dedicated to Emil Zatopek, the Olympic champion and local patriot can be interesting for general public.
