Live near this place, went in for a show tonight (Saturday) that was being taped. I’ve been to a handful of shows, some are great, some are less so. That’s life. That’s comedy. This show definitely had some awesome comedians and great acts but the guy running it was brutal. It was being taped and the host wanted us to laugh and clap on command. He was doing little hand signs, just very forced. So uncomfortable. We got our check at intermission so we could bail and the server berated us for leaving because she would need to fill the table. But we were in the far back and there were plenty of open tables. This seems like a great club, the drinks were good, the decor was decent, and I bet with other hosts on other nights it’s great, but it wasn’t tonight. If I come back and it’s different, I’ll update this but for now, two stars is the best I can do.

The venue is spacious, plenty of seating options and one of the few comedy clubs in upper west sides. Friendly staff and excellent service. The line up were amazing which concluded with Erik Scott who was super talented and pro. Had a good laugh, will definitely come back to this spot.

Arrive early. Seating can fill pretty quickly. Often times there may be a drink minimum or admission cost but worth the comedy you will see. Two shows are often available as well- One that starts at 8pm and one at around 11I believe. An enjoyable night out.

Visiting Stand Up NY on a Friday night offered a unique glimpse into the club's valiant efforts at reinvention and its struggle to capture the essence of what makes a comedy venue thrive. Firstly, it's commendable to see a venue striving for growth and pushing boundaries to rejuvenate its appeal. The ambition to revamp its identity and enhance the overall experience is palpable, marking a promising step towards redefining its place in the city's nightlife. However, it's apparent there are underlying reasons why Stand Up faces challenges in drawing larger crowds, particularly on what should be one of the busiest nights of the week. While the club's spirit of innovation is noteworthy, there seems to be a disconnect between its offerings and the expectations of its potential audience. The quality of the acts, although varied, occasionally lacks the consistency needed to keep the audience engaged throughout the evening. Comedy, after all, is an art that demands a delicate balance between innovation and relatability, something the club is still in the process of mastering. Moreover, the ambiance and service, crucial elements of the overall experience, appear to need fine-tuning. A welcoming, comfortable environment and attentive service greatly enhance the enjoyment of live comedy, making them areas where Standup could potentially improve to match the expectations of its guests. In conclusion, Standup deserves recognition for its bold attempts at transformation and for its commitment to providing a platform for comedians to showcase their talent. However, for the club to truly flourish and fill its seats, especially on Friday nights, a more focused approach might be necessary. This could include refining the selection of acts to ensure a consistently high-quality lineup, improving the overall ambiance of the club, and enhancing service standards. There is a wealth of potential waiting to be unlocked at NY Standup, and with further adjustments, it could indeed become a staple in the local entertainment .

We went on a monday evening, a free night found on Eventbrite. Being from Belgium and English not being our native language, we were not sure we would “get” everything. We were wrong, we had a blast. Staff was super friendly. I dont’t know about some other reviews, but our tab was spot on. And the comedians were superb, really bravo! Will definitely recommend to people, thanks for the great night out!

I went here for my first ever comedy show, and I would definitely go again! The price ($25 ticket and a $18 drink minimum) was fair and we saw a number of professional comics. All of them made me laugh, but some were definitely more my speed than others. We didn't try any of the cocktails, but the staff was speedy and accommodating.

Comedians were decent, enjoyed the show. However, the $18 drink per person rule is ridiculous because the drinks are TINY. You pay $16 per drink and barely get 150 milliliters. It's truly ridiculous. Just raise the prices for the tickets and sell normal-sized drinks for normal prices. The way it is right now is just an annoying way of making the tickets $20 more expensive. Other comedy clubs in the city can do it, so you can as well.

A smaller, more intimate venue allows for a closer connection to the comedians presenting. Excellent comedians, helpful staff, and great drinks makes this one of the best experiences in my NYC trip!

Came to NY 🗽 to perform for my graduation from AMERICAN COMEDY INSTITUTE. To see how many Greats have crossed the stage before me at this Comedy Club gives me chill bumps! It was a really good experience from beginning to end, the club hostess was very nice. The bartender knows how to pour and the club itself was nice and clean. (COVID regulations and proof of Vaccination will be needed to enjoy this Club) Hope to Grace this stage again in the near future, but as an Act. 🎙️🤣

I have been going to shows at Stand Up NY for over 30 years! Every time I go I have a good time. In addition to funny comedians, the staff is super nice. And if you get there at the right time, you can even meet some famous people! Looking for a fun night out on the Upper West Side? Stand Up NY is a no brainer!

I’m not writing this review for customers as much as I am for the venue. I’ve been a long time stand up ny fan. I go to comedy shows all over the city but stand up ny has been my “home” club. During covid I was delighted by the outdoor shows and went multiple times. Lately I’ve been surprised how awful the talent has been. The shows are so cringe and people are laughing out of pity. It feels like they can’t fill the time slots so they just get any volunteers who want a break. This happened in the beginning of the summer but I gave it another chance last weekend and there were 11 people in the audience. The show wasn’t tolerable but I stayed out of respect. I don’t know why the club has gone from amazing to this. I know they fill the venue when it’s a “special” guest but for their daily/ weekly shows they can’t continue like this. I want to see the club thrive and come back to its “glory” days so I’ll keep supporting but it’s truly embarrassing to watch their shows lately. Good luck!

Fun night of comedy with a variety of talent. Drinks were good, even if the space was very tight.

Hilarious set! My husband and I really enjoyed our night out at Stand Up NY, the comedians were funny, and the wait staff attentive. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Stand Up NY is a great comedy club. They always have good lineups and I am rarely disappointed in any of the comedians. If you want to sit up front, show up an hour before the show. If you don't want to sit up front, don't show up early. Occasionally they have secret special guests. They are always big names trying out new material before going on the road and are always worth checking out.

It was packed when I went, but it was also well ventilated. The show was great, and the hosts did their best considering being short staffed. The bathrooms were clean. There are 4 bathrooms in the basement and a handicap accessible one on the main floor.

I got a special comp-ticket for a Friday 8pm show at S.U.NY. It was worth it for a nice evening of comedy. The drinks weren't as pricey as some other venues. The comedian line-up was small but good overall because they had to make room for the headliner Mr. Rick Vos. The space is relatively small compared to other comedy venues still it had a good enough space for the crowd. And the basement lavatories decent & clean (though it may need better labeling for them) I've been going to Stand Up NY for about 2 years & have always had a good experience. Thanks.
