I pulled up the directions and it stated "Closed" How can a cemetery be closed on Mother's Day?! I decided to take the drive anyway and was so delight to see that it was Open! I suggest @Notredamecemetery - update your page. It is a beautiful, well kept, and quiet cemetary.

Let's start with the positive: The location of this cemetery is located in a key area of Ottawa which is quiet and easy to access for anyone who wishes to visit. The history is also very impressive. The negative points: The grounds are filled with weeds and patches of grass missing. The paved areas are filled with pot holes, missing pavement and some areas have gravel roads with large holes making it dangerous to walk in certain section of the ground. This cemetery is managed like it's running out of money, the maintenance is at a minimum to say the least. Some infrastructures on the site are old or simply broken and they don't bother to fix or replace. This cemetery needs a lot of TLC. It's sad to say but this cemetery was in pristine condition 20 years ago but it looks like they simply let it go throughout the years. I hope that quickly make some management change before it's too late and make it the great cemetery it once was so all of my family members that were buried there can rest in piece in the beautiful and peaceful place it once was. Unfortunately, this is not a place that I recommend.

We have many relatives buried here, on both sides of our family. I had taken a few pics of my grandparents site and in particular the marking stone for my Grandfathers service because it was beginning to be covered with the earth almost to the point of becoming unnoticeable and I was planning to approach the office to see what could be done, but before I had a chance to do that, i found that it had been beautifully redone the next time I visited. I checked with a couple of relatives to see if they knew anything about it, and they didn’t. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the maintenance and landscapers and whoever else took care of it, until I can thank you in person. Merci Beaucoup for my dear grandfather James McCann

One time I got a tattoo that was so ugly and I had a panic attack, got off the bus, walked in this cemetery and cried, then a saw someone in a wheelchair stuck in the mud so I helped them out, the whole experience was random, I may not have visited for the same reasons as others, but I'm glad this cemetery exists! Perfect place to cry yall

I have family members resting there and the grounds are always very well maintained.

Some people find it weird, but as tour guides, we find it interesting to walk around here and see the different family names that were important to Ottawa and the Valley.

It is always kept clean and maintained. Very respectful for those whose loved ones have been buried here.

One of my best friends is buried there in his grandparents family plot. The cemetery is very well kept and interesting, if you're into older cemeteries as I am. I am not Catholic but the cemetery offers an abundance of beautiful stones from the past two centuries and is a very special place as most cemeteries certainly are.

I'm conflicted about the rating I want to give. On one side, the cemetery is a wonderful place to rest in peace but, on the other hand, the management of this facility leaves a lot to be desired. I had the misfortune of having to speak to the lady who said she was in charge. I went in for clarifications regarding the actual process and additional costs to inter my father's ashes. I had already paid for the niche over 10 years ago but it was now time to inter my father's ashes; therefore, I asked her some questions and what I got for responses lacked compassion and empathy. She made me feel like I was bothering her and her tone was condescending to say the least. Her answers were abrupt and I just wanted to get out of there. She eventually left and passed me on to the wonderful lady working at the reception counter. This person had a completely different demeanor and was quite pleasant. She should be the person responsible for interacting with the families and NOT the lady in charge, at this moment. The lady in charge, at the moment, should look into social interaction skills building seminars because she has no people skills. I would have given the Notre-Dame Cemetery a 5 star rating but this manager has changed my rating to a 3 star.
