It is a fun place, food is Ok. More vegetarian options would help, especially cooked food, not just salads. It a great place to friends and family to gather and talk, it was not loud. The staff is friendly and cheerful. I will definitely come back.

I had the fish and chips, probably the most reasonably priced item on the menu. The batter was perfect, it had that golden colour, and no hard brown parts. The fish was fluffy, and the batter was light, but somewhat oily. The French fries and coleslaw were perfect. Unfortunately I couldn't have any drinks, but I hear the beer 🍺 from those at the table was good. Great seat, and nice courtyard near the water.

5 stars for the whole experience. View is one of a kind. TV with sports. Glass window balcony over water. Old wood pub feel indoor. The menu has really improved over the years and I’ve still had everything on it gradually - had the Korean fried chicken burger today. And I will again 🤤 The beer they have is a whole other world of goodness. They taste great year round. Great for business meetings 👍 My kid enjoyed the view too!

first time visiting this, unique and historic restaurant and brew pub. It's gorgeous on the outside, with multiple patio outdoor set ups. Situated right by the water it's visually stunning. As we entered, the aesthetics of the pub were awesome. From the stonewalls to the huge beer brewing canisters and with all of the different sections and hidden nooks, it is super nice. Everything was unique, bright, spacious with excellent air, quality and fantastic management of music volume and people chatter. We attended at 4:45 PM and the place was busy reflecting its popularity. We were immediately seated, and within minutes our very friendly server approached our table to take our order. We explained that we had further plans and would be meeting up with other people and was wondering what the wait time would be on ordering different types of food from their menu. Within two minutes we had narrowed down what would work within our schedule and happily placed our order. Our server was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and most importantly, the information she provided us was absolutely accurate. We had our food within 12 minutes and it was absolutely delicious. I believe that with effective communication with your server, it will change the outcome of your entire experience here. The food portions were very generous, the prices were reasonable, and we all agreed that we will definitely be visiting this place multiple times down the road. I highly recommend to families, corporate events, friends going out, and also an excellent location for a date. There is ample parking, and as I mentioned at the beginning of my review, the location was visually stunning. Make for some time to take a walk around the grounds, read the historic plaques and articles, mounted here and there, and really soak in the historical ambience. It will add depth to your experience!! Highly recommend. #LocalGuide.

Went Sunday for our Anniversary. There were a few things on the menu they were out of. Didn't matter as everything on the menu is good. I had a burger and my wife had the salmon. It was awesome. Great atmosphere and great food!

From the summer: Went to the Mill Street Brew Pub for lunch on a Monday...Had their Angus burger...Great value and very, very delicious Yukon Gold fries! Got a flight of beer and felt relaxed and ready to tackle my afternoon! Couldn't get a seat by the river-view because of many reservations but overall I was very pleased!

We sat at picnic tables outside. They had live music in the background. It was a perfect place to stop, grab a beer and a snack and rest from our bike ride. I really enjoyed the fresh out of the tap Mill Street Organic. You should try it! Also, the Fiesta Chicken Pizza was quite yummy. I'll come back for more of both next weekend! See you there!

I had an amazing elk burger on the patio. The service is great as usual. The location is perfect if you are walking out of the war museum and you want a meal asap. The building and it's surroundings are beautiful architecture of the old days.

Great place for patio drinks and the service is outstanding. The food is pretty average though as there were some hiccups. My friend's Eggs Benedict came with fried eggs(?!) and the eggs on my breakfast skillet came hard poached. The elements of my skillet dish wasn't hot enough for me, potatoes and bacon were probably pre-cooked and just assembled rather than made to order. The beer options they have are awesome. A server came by with samples of their new watermelon wheat beer which was nice. Every server we encountered was super friendly and cheerful so props to them! Parking: for some reason when we arrived at noon on Sunday the garage was closed and a bunch of Porche car meet guys took up a good chunk of the open air lot. By the time we left the garage was open so FYI they might not open the garage when they do the restaurant.

We went to this restaurant on Friday night, the table was full so we couldn't get the window side table. But the food was awesome and the server was super nice. We came here just because the restausant we were supposed to go was closed. I am glad that we came here and my family had a really good time. Hope to sit patio next time.

The Mill St. Venue is an absolute gem. This heritage building was the perfect location to celebrate our marriage. Words can hardly describe our level of happiness with every aspect of our experience with them. From our contact, Christine, to all the staff for their immense work in making our experience such a memorable event. Highly recommended. On a side note, their cask program is wonderful and “Tapping that cask” to kick off our reception is a moment we’ll never forget. - Emily & Andrew

A very nice place and location. We were a party of eight. People were happy with the food but service was very slow, it took an hour before food started to come to the table and was delivered over 10-15 minutes from the first person served until the last person was served. Some of the hot items were served cold. In fairness they seemed very busy for a Monday night. I suspect they were short staffed. I ordered the "Seafood Pot Pie" with the garden salad. It was good and presented well. Salad was just OK. The seafood pot pie said salmon, scallops and shrimp on the menu. In reality it contained scallops, maybe two shrimp but no salmon at all. It tasted good and the puffy crust was nice, just no salmon.

6 April 2023 was my daughter's wedding. We had the whole upstairs to ourselves. 27 adults + a 1 and 2 year old. The wedding ceremony began at 11:00am followed by appetizers and then the reception/lunch at 1:30pm. The venue was absolutely perfect. A bar with a sitting area and the area for the wedding/lunch. It has that wood/stone rustic decor. So calming and beautiful for pictures. The whole venue was very clean and a lot of windows made it so bright. We had 2 staff members, Julia & Taya taking care of all of us throughout the 5 hours which included the bar and serving us our appetizers and lunch. I can't say enough about these 2 women who never missed a beat, and anything you asked for, they did it immediately with a huge smile on their face. So friendly to talk with and professional. They were so good looking after the early lunch for the 2 kids immediately following the wedding ceremony. As the kids were eating, out came many, many appetizers which were a meal in itself! Everyone raved on the delicious food. When it came time for our sit down lunch, each course, soup, salad and main dish were all served promptly in order. The food is outstanding! Soup and main meal were served hot and delicious, and the salad was cold and crisp. We catered in our own desserts and they set it all up for us. So all in all, the venue in total stood up to make this an excellent, memorable wedding. Highly recommended for venue and food. Once again, Julia and Taya, thank you so much for your dedicated, fantastic service! p.s. a bonus for the Mill St. Brew Pub ... lots of free parking!

Had a 16 oz. glass of session IPA (4.7%, 27 IBU) for $7.50. It appears that only two items on the food menu can be veganized: a bowl meal, and roasted cauliflower with sliced almonds and red-pepper flakes (which made it quite spicy for me), served with vegan spicy mayo (chipotle aioli) rather than the turmeric yogurt. It was not appetizing enough or attractive enough to be worth the $18 cost. Service was good.

Love this place! Amazing food and beer in downtown Ottawa, WITH parking! I recently photographed a wedding here and the staff was amazing, it's a beautiful venue for events with the exposed brick, wood beams and views of the river. Highly recommend!

The place is amazing. The location is so strategic and the scenery next to the water is to die for. I love their Latin nights Mondays where you get to socialize and dance and learn Latin music and Latin dancing. Salsa Bachata and sometimes Marengi. The servers are amazing and always timely when it comes to serving the food and the drinks before and also during the dancing sessions. I will highly recommend it during the day as you get to see the scenery and enjoy the scenic view of the river.

Fries and beer were good! Their Clementine Milkshake Wheat and the Portage Cream Ale were to die for. I only remove 1 star due to a very poor whisky and bourbon selection for what is unique in Canada. The service was awesome and the vibes are great! Get here early enough to get a window seat for the sunset view. Free parking too!

I have to update this review and give them a full 5 stars. Amy reached out unsatisfied that our experience was underwhelming and asked us to give them a second try. We went for our anniversary and I won't lie, it was a delightful experience. They had us at a table on an enclosed balcony that hangs over the water with glass on two sides. The food was excellent and they even gave us a bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate our anniversary. Than you @amy I got nothing but love for Mill Street from this day forward. Word to the wise, the deserts are huge, we didn't need one each but damn, they were so fine. ----------- Original Review---------- It was ok, the kid who served us was nice enough, but didn't know the menu at all, had to keep checking with the kitchen on stuff. The drinks didn't come till well after the food did (food was just OK) the whole experience left us unimpressed.

Great location, right along the bike path! Definitely worth a trip. I had the original Mill St. beer, which was perfect for a mid-afternoon refreshment. I sat at the bar. The bartender was helpful in offering a couple of samples of other beers. He was friendly and attentive. The inside of the restaurant wasn't too busy on a Friday afternoon. I recommend the tacos , I ordered one pulled pork and one fish. I enjoyed both.

We were at the Mill St. Brew Pub for a retirement party on the 2nd floor and had a great time. It's a wonderful old building and the staff was friendly and helpful. The food was incredible! Many people raved about the chicken wings. The beef sliders were fantastic! There was something for everyone. Veggie trays, fruit trays, charcuterie boards. It was a wonderful experience.

Chicken mushroom pot pie and chicken cheddar club tasted amazing. Great presentation for the mains. Servers were friendly and professional. Nachos were the only item Sub par with being soggy and stale. Over all highly recommended. Great place to eat and drink.

We recently had our wedding at the Mill Street venue. The venue and atmosphere was perfect. The Mill street staff were AMAZING! They were so kind, helpful and thoughtful. Christine our event coordinator was fantastic to work with, she guided us through the whole planning process and made it easy. Christine also helped us get a DJ when our original canceled last minute day of, she saved the day! We cannot thank Mill street enough for the great experience we had. We highly recommend!!!

Very nice and relaxed place. Beautiful river view. Food was very good, salmon was delicious and I loved the potatoes. As for drinks, food paired nicely with a bloody Mary. The staff were very sweet (young and handsome servers which is definitely a bonus). Thank you for the great service.

A cute, casual spot with decent food and great service. If you are lucky enough to get a spot by the water, the view definitely enhances the experience. Otherwise, they have a good number of tables available on the patio that, on a nice summer day, makes it worth a visit. It's maybe a touch more romantic than the average pub but still a very casual, laid back atmosphere. Unlike the downtown core, this restaurant is located in it's own little corner surrounded by trees and water, with plenty of free parking - great location. They have a good selection of food - pub fare plus a few interesting options like the chicken and waffle sandwich and, my last pick, the Buddha bowl. Nothing mind-blowing but definitely not a miss. I have gone a few times and will definitely be back!

Free parking, access to a trail leading to the Ottawa river, different sitting settings with nice views. Good selection of drinks and food (today however they ran out of almost everything I would have wanted to order, just tried chicken nachos and fries. The service is also nice.

Mill Street Brew pub is consistently an amazing experience. The waitstaff and management are top notch and always try to make your dining experience great. (Even when my wife mis ordered something that she couldn’t eat, even though it was clearly described on the menu…they made it better!) sadly the beer store closed just as we wanted to buy some seasonal brews. Good excuse to return.

Not a bad place to grab a drink and some run of the mill pub food. I probably wouldn't come here often as there wasn't much to keep you coming back. The Calamari was made well here compared to many places I've been recently.

Careful, They do sell out so make sure to go for lunch ;) The chicken is also amazing Love trying new beers here with my boyfriend. We usually sample a flight together, and share the pistachio cheesecake. BONUS They’re dog friendly, my yorkie and I were welcomed many times this summer! Definitely recommend the patio :)

Parking is very limited. It's a good walk from the closest bus stops. The food was good. I had the burger which was like any other. The service was really good though. The waiter was very attentive. Very quick and efficient. They have a really nice patio in the summertime.

My extended family enjoyed an afternoon at Mill Street after my mother's funeral. The planning time was short, but the staff at Mill Street accommodated everyone: children, the elderly and people with mobility challenges. Our server, Halli, was outstanding. She worked so hard and kept all 31 of us fed and watered. She was friendly and made everyone feel at home. Steve was so professional in dealing with the problems that I created when our numbers jumped at the last second. Terese, who took the original booking and met us at the door was also lovely. What a team! Fantastic food and drink in a beautiful location. My mom would have love it! Thank you Mill Street. You make Ottawa look good!

Edited.... So, my 2nd trip to Mill Street was like having a supernova light up a power outage. GM Amy and our server Cooper took care of our grossly large table from the second we walked in til we walked out the door. Food was top drawer again, and this time the service was outstanding and well and truly appreciated. Nachos were delicious, the elk burger was scrumptious, and the poutine as to die for. I tried 3 of their beers... The Belgian, the lager, and the 100th meridian (which I shamelessly purchased only for it's Hip reference). All delicious and recommended. Thanks, Mill Street! /Edit (Original) No room outside, gave us a crummy inner table when one with the river view was open... Then server took 15 minutes to come speak to us. Food was good, the everything else was a little annoying.

Really lovely pub, great selection of beers and a good menu. The short ribs were excellent, nice to have something without fries on the menu when you're eating out every night. The staff were really attentive and polite. The setting was great, not quite warm enough for us to sit outside. We did find it a little loud indoors but that's a small thing, they were busy.

  • 3/5 Lotus On The H. 11 months ago on Google
Atmosphere, better than four but not quite five. Service would have been a four or five but was really slow at the door even though it wasn't busy and we had to walk to the cash register to finally get our bill. Food, for what we had, barely rates a two. The battered fish, though huge looking was mostly batter and not much fish, and the chips were less than warm, pushing cool. They were obviously the last of several previous refries as most were small dark broken bits with only a small portion of still overcooked whole length fries. It was really greasy too. My stomach felt ill the rest of the evening and into the next day. Suggestion to the owners of the Mill Street chain. Cut your menu down to a quarter of what it is and concentrate on making the fewer offerings better.

A wannabe independent beer, that often takes the place of other micro breweries on shelves. They are owned by labat but pretend to be a small buisness, they also insulted the Tragically Hip and stole one of their song names for their beer/ frequently use Gord to promote their beer. Very un canadaian, reach for a local brew, from one of ottawas many micro breweries next time instead of this wannabe stuff.

Editing after a few more visits. Great for drinks. Food is overpriced and service is spotty. Good idea to make a reservation. Basic pub menu with some gluten free offerings. They have a private space upstairs you can rent out, and nice outdoor space They host a great music festival in the summer, Hopped and Confused. Can't recommend the apple pie.

Incredible atmosphere & amazing beverage selection. Free parking & beer store within. Food is good but a bit pricey though, and would NOT recommend the veggie burger unless you’re into a thin piece of rubbery pre-fab. However, I have been 4 times now and always leave satisfied by the overall experience. Worth checking out if you’re willing to spend north of $35/pp for 1 beer + main @ lunch. Really good breakfast deals!

Great beer. Seriously, top notch, delicious Canadian craft beer. I, personally love their ales in general, especially the cream ale named Potage. But don't eat there. We've ordered a poutine with extra cheese curds on it and... There must be some kind of law or regulation to keep them from calling it a "Poutine"! Tasteless, soggy fries drowned in a watered down gravy like liquid topped with a few pieces off cold, "meh" cheese curds... We barely touched it. So, yeah, that's why 4 stars... Other than that, their beer is really great.

I LOVE Mill St Brew Pub!!! The food is always fantastic, and the service is super friendly and welcoming! As a pro wedding photographer, I've so far attended two weddings at Mill St and I can't wait to go back next fall for another wedding! I've had lots of wedding meals from other venues that are your classic boring chicken and veggies, but Mill St is something else lemme tell ya! I had the salmon and I still dream about it lol. If you're hoping to serve your wedding guests food and an experience that they will remember, Mill St is an amazing choice!! Highly recommended.

Great atmosphere, staff and food! We were lucky to snag a spot on the patio. The ambiance was really nice - especially the view of the river. Our table all enjoyed their meals including the elk burger, the veggie burger, the chicken flatbread and the poutine. There's a great selection of beer and drinks. The Mill Street Original Organic is by far my favourite! We can't to be back!
