We came in for lunch and we’re not disappointed! This place definitely has a neighbourhood pub atmosphere… warm and inviting. The food was really good, too. If you ask for it (because it is not on the menu) you can get fries and dressing with gravy! This was a comfort food landfall … I would probably have been better off just ordering this and maybe I wouldn’t have eaten so much LOL. The cod was just too tasty to leave behind, though. So yummy … every bite!!!

I had a really pleasant experience eating here. Kudos to both my server, who was very attentive, and the chef, whose fish and chips plus house salad was quite good. Thanks to them, I would be happy to come back here.

I heard this restaurant has a long history, beloved by local people! The breakfast is until 2 p.m. during the weekends. I had Old-fashioned, and this traditional western breakfast attracted me a lot! I would love to try other menus here.

Kraft singles is the cheese they use. Fries tasted like old fries (beef patty was the only good thing) - no waitresses you need to go to the bar to order -too loud

Real authentic downhome feel and food. Portions are good and the prices are excellent. Had the burger with newfie poutine and the dressing was great. (The total with tax and tip was under 14 dollars!!) The daily specials and homemade soup of the day are also tasty and a good value. A++

Visited Ottawa from out of town on Thanksgiving weekend. Everywhere we tried to go had an hour or more wait. We ended up spotting this place. The food was very good and the staff friendly.

My girlfriend and I came in for our first time just before the holidays. The food was crazy good, but the service was even better! Jay the bartender made us feel at home right away, helped with any questions we had about the menu, and even got us involved in conversation with some of the regulars. 10/10 spot really worth a visit!

A great local institution in Ottawa. An old, clean, not updated restaurant, but it has charm because of the many pictures on the wall. Decent food, and beer. Nothing upscale or fancy, but who needs that! Staff are down-to-earth and friendly as are the patrons. This time we went for brunch which is served on Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. A basic 2 egg breakfast with sausage, ham, or bacon, home fries, and coffee costs $9.50. Only 4 offerings for breakfast, but too much choice isn't always necessary. My only complaint is that it took about 45 minutes for our group to be served our meals, the place was not busy, and we seemed to be the only ones eating breakfast.

Decided to try this place out as we are new to the area and it was a blast! Bartender was amazing and the wings are the best we’ve had in the city. Will definitely be back!

Great place to be! For a local pub, the food is absolutely amazing. The bartender Jay is a awesome - it's always a good time at the Newf when Jay is there. His hilarious and will find a way to make you laugh! Check this place out, it's worth it!

This is a pub, with pub food. It hasn't been updated probably since the 90s. It's an ok place. The food is ok. The prices are a little higher than I expected for a pub. The service (especially on Saturday ) is excellent and the server is friendly and she remembers your drink order, even after one visit.

Loved the bartender/server. It was a nice place to get a quick bite. We ended up sharing 3 apps between two people and we were pretty full. It's a "divey" place I guess, but nothing bad about it. Would come back if we ever go to Ottawa again.

Can I give this place 6 stars? Jason was friendly, helpful, even let us bring in outside food cause the kitchen was closed. And when I tried to leave and my car didn't start...he (and the patrons) tried their best to help. Talk about Newfoundland hospitality!

I would say, it is my favourite pub in Ottawa. Dishes and beer are yammy. There are pictures and lights on walls that makes an atmosphere like at home. Overall, it is a good place to take a rest and enjoy evening with a family and friends.

After reading such great reviews about the fish and chips, I was disappointed. They were ok but sadly not great. There was no malt vinegar and to be authentic one needs malt vinegar.

I've been coming to the bar for like 10 years.I met the bartender jay five years ago and he hasn't done a great job cleaning the place out phenomenal service great times lots of laughs awesome food karaoke night is a hoot. Hands down best local pub in Ottawa.

Ya things need to improve with the dj kareoke to be played to accommodate the clients & not so much playing mostly songs from actual artist especially when people come to do kareoke & that's why we left.

This place was around the corner from our house. We used to walk over after work and have some supper with or without the kids. They had a big screen and let me watch my football games on it during the CFL season. It is a cozy place and friendly. The food was always good. Karaoke night was fun for a change.

Started our Winter season dart league. First time I have been to this pub, but it seems to have a great atmosphere with friendly staff. Others were complimenting the food they purchased and the prices appeared very reasonable. The one downside to this pub is the parking, which is quite limited and awkward to get in and out.

Friendly staff and a nice and cozy environment but not exactly what we were expecting. My mother is a full blown Newfie and was expecting a bit more of a back home feel, but the music was all generic modern pop from the radio. The food was just okay, my brother ordered nachos with no onions that was covered in onions, the deep fried mars bar we ordered was bland and barely melted. Maybe we just went on an off day?
