EDIT: Nov 21,2020 - Super impressed with this location. Highly recommend. Went back last week for dinner with the family. Front staff clearly explained Covid protocols including sanitizing the plastic menus between each guest, QR code menus are available, tables are physically spaced out , etc. As a courtesy, they provided and explained the take-out drink menu and dessert menu at the beginning. I’d give them 6 stars if I could. This is an example of a business that responds quickly to customer feedback. All of our previous concerns were addressed. I feel safe eating here despite these crazy times. EDIT: Oct 24, 2020 - Impressed with the communication effort from this location's general manager - very receptive to hearing feedback. Looking forward to going back here for inside dining when the province re-opens! ORIGINAL: Their physical distancing protocols can seem more for show than safety. This location needs to rethink how they communicate during Covid-19. We went here to support local Ottawa business and because of the Prismatica ad that we heard on the radio. This was just before Ottawa closed down indoor dining again. Maybe this location did a better job in the beginning of indoor dining during COVID-19 but this location could definitely do better when we went. Greeter took down our contact information for contact tracing. Awesome. There’s a sign behind the front entrance that says “scan to view menu” but we were given paper menus and there was no mention of scanning by greeter or wait staff to view the menu. (That’s fine. Lots of places are now offering paper menus - but why advertise it as a safety measure you are taking if you’re not actually offering it?) Love how this chain has created table closed signs that connect the physical distancing message with their Irish theme. The table closed sign says “this table is practicing physical distancing” and there’s a little bit of Irish trivia. Awesome. The problem is, when the indoor dining room got busier, the greeter brought in another couple and took away the table closed sign so they could be seated. So in fact, that table wasn’t practicing physical distancing? All of the seating areas were 2m apart so the confusion is because those table placards aren’t actually “table closed” signs (like they are at other places). It looks odd if you’re opening up tables that were once closed for Covid when your place gets busier. If all of the spots are infact open for eating, why put out those signs at all? Finally, when we were seated, we were given the paper menu and a drink menu. I tried to order a drink from the drink menu and then was told I couldn’t order it - in fact that drink menu was limited just for take out orders. Having a closer look, I realize now it says “drinks to go” but that wasn’t really made clear at all when we were seated. I can completely appreciate you have an exclusive contact to serve one brand of drink and under take-out laws, you’re . able to sell other brands. But that could be made more clear by the greeter. I do appreciate that this chain has their nutrition information online. Thanks! Dear owner / manager, I am active on Google reviews. Popped in for a pint with my family while visiting from Halifax, service was fast and the beer was cold! Great spot in downtown Ottawa

Had dinner here last night. Was pretty good. The outside patio awesome for people watching not to mention you are pretty much in the Historical center of Ottawa. I had the fish tacos, a Cesar salad and a IPA beer. Beer was cold tacos were good, Salad was so so the lettuce could of been fresher. The waitress was very attentive and pleasant. I would visit again.

They serve a nice lunch tasty and affordable 😋 guiness is delicious and fresh well poured by professional bar staff. Service was amazing very friendly. Potatoes 🥔 are fresh. Patio is great for people watching comfortable seating. Chicken wings 😋 crispy and fresh too

My wife and I (Carla and Anthony) had an amazing experience at this location. Mia and Josh were very friendly and funny. The wings and nachos were the best we’ve had in a long time. We would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant if your in the Ottawa area. And a special thanks to the hostess (Amelia)who sat us. Thank you all for the wonderful service.

We sat out on the front patio overlooking the war memorial and the comings and goings on the busy Elgin St. The beers are 18oz which is larger than the typical 16oz (but they are proportionally more expensive, no problem there). There are some great vegetarian options: I had the vegan fish and chips, it was superb (see pic, taken halfway through!) Rick our server was superb, give him a raise! Thoroughly recommend this place for people watching when the weather is good.

Don't normally give 2 stars but this might be one of the worst pub experiences. Atmosphere and service was fine but the food... Not good. We ordered the tandoori fajitas, poutine and double decker chicken sandwich. Tandoori fajitas sauce came crusty (like they had been under a heat lamp), tasteless and barely warm. Poutine came in a soup form and 15min before the rest of the food. Chicken sandwich was not bad at all but doesn't make up for the rest of the meal. Will never recommend.

Nice location. Came here with work colleagues for lunch. Was put in the basement with poor lightning and slow service. Drinks came and then a long wait for our food. Food and drinks were pretty standard pub fare although there were some interesting menu items like the lamb shanks. OK pub but nothing to write home about.

I always stop here when I’m in Ottawa. Great atmosphere and location, the staff is so friendly and the live music on the weekends is always great. The food is also great, one of the best French onion soups I’ve ever had and all the classics like the Shepard’s Pie, fish and chips, wings etc never disappoint.

Had lunch here today. I ordered the shephard's pie with house salad. Overall, I think the dish is decent but I'm not a huge fan. The salad tastes fresh but the pie tastes a bit bland. Nice atmosphere but the music is a bit too loud for me. I gave this place a 4/5 but a more accurate rating would be 3.5/5 imo. Maybe I just haven't tried their best dish yet. May come back to give it another try next time.

I was invited to a party and the restaurant is close to the haunted walk. Our server was great and the Chicken Schnitzel I had was tasty. It hit the spot. We were seated downstairs where large groups were and there was a constant draft coming from where I was sitting which meant I needed to keep my sweater on.

Service was great even tho they were busy and shorthanded (our server was also helping behind the bar). Fish and chips was very tasty and a nice portion size. Carrot cheesecake dessert was delicious and big enough to share.

I've been here twice; once for lunch and once for dinner. I loved the atmosphere and the decor, and the both servers I had were awesome. Food is hit or miss, I had their beef and mushroom pie on my second visit and the gravy in it wasn't great. Their portion size was great, though, and there were lots of good things to choose from on the menu, and I'd go back for the atmosphere alone.

The quality of the food for the price is excellent. Highly recommend the French onion soup! The drinks are flavourful and the staff are very friendly as well. I’m looking forward to returning!

Service was excellent, only had a couple of sips of cider and didn't even have any of my shepherd's pie. I had just walked from giving blood and I felt a little faint and the next thing I knew the paramedics were there taking care of me. Prior to them arriving the staff took very good care of me.

Amazing staff and menu. Gotta try their Cold Fashion drink. It. Is. Delicious. They made my wings differently to accommodate my allergies and they even brought me a special binder with the whole menu’s ingredients. Not every restaurant do this and it is really reassuring and appreciated. Lovely place overall

Very disappointed when I attended the location. Was staying at hotels in the area and chose this restaurant because it was open a little later than some of the other restaurants in the area of the hotels. Advertised on Google maps as being open until 10pm. I showed up at 840pm and I barely got in the door and one of the staff members rushed over to me and said last call was at 845pm. I stated the hours of business that I read on Google and they said the manager made the decision to make last call earlier. I had walked in the rain to purposely go to this restaurant. I get it was a rainy night in December and they made the decision, I assume, to close early, but it was disappointing to walk the distance and get wet and then told they were taking last call. I had checked the hours of business about 10 minutes before attending and it still said 10pm. Maybe there should be a way they could change their hours on Google if they are going to close early. I could say this is a one off and not be too critical but this is the third time in the last 8 months I tried to attend the restaurant and it had been closed long before their hours of operation were advertised or what happened on this date. Just a caution if you go out of your way to attend they may not be open. Will think hard before I make an attempt to return.

My favorite Pub in Ottawa. We were here on a trip to Ottawa about 5 years ago. We visited this pub twice on that trip. I just had the privilege of going back to this again last week. Just as amazing as I remembered. All the food is great. The prices are also good, especially considering it is located in a tourist spot. One can't go wrong with the Double Stacked Fried Chicken Sandwich! I highly recommend.

Went with a group of 11 people and were seated right away. Had a few stragglers come in the join us so about 14 in total by the end. Food came out much faster than I expected considering how busy the restaurant was and how large a group we were. Waitress was lovely and did a great job getting the food out all at once, checking if we needed anything and for cleaning up as needed! Food was also delicious 😋 will go back the next time I'm in town!

This place is so legit awesome, I'd love to come back here on my next trip to Ottawa. The beer battered fish and chips were excellent and super filling. I somehow managed to finish two HUGE pieces of fish (there's no way I would ever leave a bite left tbh) and great beer to wash it down. Outside seating is really nice when it's not blistering hot out, and the waitress was very upbeat and friendly. Great atmosphere too!

Really great location, especially nice when you can sit on the patio in the summer. Typical bar food and drinks. We went on a show night and I was disappointed with our experiences; the nachos were soggy and half of our order wasn’t requested, so we left hungry and having to rush to the show after being at the spot for 2 hours. The vibe is always friendly, however, and the music was great!

It was cold and we were looking for some comfort food. We ordered two drinks and they were great!! We started with a small portion of naked wings and they were amazing (one of the best we have ever had)!!! We had a chicken burger and a meat with mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The burger had 2 pieces of chicken on the photo but they were so thin that some pieces had no meat at all (the least favourite dish). The meat dish was surprising, so good, with so much flavour, and full of meat (the best dish)!!!

Me and my buddy went to Ottawa to visit the city. We stumbled upon this place called D'Arcy McGee's to grab some grub. We looked up the reviews on Google Maps and they seemed pretty good, so we decided to give it a shot. We ordered two different dishes to share. One was this awesome Indian-style Fionn's Butter Chicken, and the other one was some kind of Steak and Mushroom Pie (I can't remember the exact name, but it was a seasonal item, so just ask the staff for help). Both dishes were absolutely delicious! I swear, I'd totally bring my family there again and again if we ever go back to Ottawa.

Wife and I stopped here for a quick drink and some nachos…unfortunately, the nachos were not very appealing or tasty. The chicken was old looking and grey, and evidently, I am typing this from the toilet an hour later. With the nachos, I ordered guac on the side and emphasized we wanted some salsa and sour cream on the side. Was extremely put off when I saw that I was charged for sour cream and salsa on the side of a $23 plate of chicken nachos…$3.50 each! I do NOT recommend going here!

Live singing was great. Service was great. Service was fast. Not even 15 minutes between getting our drinks, to ordering then food.

Service was a little slow but I also was there for late dinner during a live music event (on a Thursday night) so it was a bit busy and we had a party of 20. So honestly, it was quite good. I got there for 7pm and left by 9pm. I ordered the steak and mushroom pie which was a great sized serving with mashed potatoes and veggies. Reasonably priced and friendly service

Great atmosphere & lovely food. Serving size were large and delicious. Would definitely recommend the spinach dip! Mixed drinks were delicious & the waiter was well informed about the available options, which was nice. He was also very good at following up and remembered what we'd discussed. The prices were quite high though. Might be just because of the great location but everything was quite expensive. We'd go back, but probably just for special occasions; don't think it's a great choice for an "every weekend" kinda pub. Also great for tourists!

This place has a great Pub vibe. overall it's quite pricey but the experience is great. The waiters and waitresses are very entertaining and fun. You have the option to sit at the bar or take a table and dine. I've tried both at the bar and out of table and my experience was equally as good. This is a great place to go for a drink if you're downtown especially if you're on foot.

Very disappointed with the service. The hosts in the front were super rude and not helpful at all. Especially the lady with the glasses. we asked for a table of 2 in the patio and even though they had couple of tables empty but they refused to give us any tables since they were assigned for 4 people. However, there were tables of 4 occupied with only 2 guests. Their attitude was really disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want to have a peaceful dining. They could have managed it in a more professional and respectful manner.

They clearly value customer satisfaction. I will definitely try it again!

This place was recommended to us from friends and family who visit Ottawa often. We tried the Sheppards pie and the fish and chips. Both tasted delicious! The fish and chips was actually surprisingly good and the Sheppards pie was tasty. The restaurant itself was busy but given the location that was expected. It’s got a really unique vibe and I think it’s definitely worth a visit.
