The food was good! I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for a very slow service. I wasn't sure if they were missing some employees because it was a holiday when we dined in but we didn't get our food in a reasonable time. We had to wait 45 minutes and the second order of drinks came after we finished our food. We also had to wait long to pay because the server didn't bring the debit machine right away. On the other hand, the food was good. My daughter and I ordered Brisket Melt Sandwich with fries and we liked it. It was flavourful and the meat was so tender. Love their fries. My husband ordered the Pineapple Jerk Chicken Sandwich which he also liked. All in all it was a good food experience but not good service experience.

Been to the Heart and Crown a few times since returning to Ottawa! Staff here are fantastic, I’ve never had a bad service experience. If you get Julia, Nyah, or Bella as your waitress’s you’re in luck! Every conversation I’ve had with staff as been nothing but pleasant and definitely interesting. The atmosphere is inviting and the food tastes amazing at prices you can’t beat on Preston road in little Italy.

I like coming to this Heart & Crown. With good pub food, regular live music, and fun atmosphere, it is a great place to hang out with family and friends. On my latest outing I took my family and all of us had a wonderful time.

Always loved the Heart and Crown, however my last few lunches there were disappointing. In particular one day I had the lunch special which was super salty which for almost $30 I would have expected better. Really feel like the quality of the food has gone down. At least service and atmosphere is always good.

Terry was professional and amazing! We work at the Adult High School down the street, and TGIF is an event we look forward to. The atmosphere and food is top notch, and Terry in the back bar made it even better. Way to go! Thanks for quenching our thirst.

Take out - Had the snug club and fries and a bottle of Moosehead. Very fresh and tasty. The bread in particular was top-notch. Could’ve used a few more fries…(But I really didn’t need them, and really there are never enough fries). Thanks Jenn for the great service.

Great outdoor patio! A good Irish menu. A great place to catch up with friends. Unfortunately, they had run out of Guinness on tap so we had to make do with Guinness in cans.

Went here on the weekend (15/08/2020) for a late lunch/ early dinner. I ordered the H&C burger. Burger tasted fantastic, although it was a giant greasy mess and fell apart after one bite. The real problem was that I got food poisoning and spent most of the night throwing up so overall not a good experience. A messy burger I can handle, but food poisoning is the most basic and unacceptable thing a restaurant should be able to avoid. Not to mention the steep price of $80 for two people to have lunch. For $80 I at least expect to not get food poisoning.

I would highly recommend Heart & Crown on Preston. From the ease of booking the reservation to the courtesy confirmation of the reservation to event itself was nothing short of awesome. The staff are polite, courteous, attentive and friendly. I loved that we had the back room to ourselves with our very own bartender who provided top quality customer service. Not only was the service great but the food was just as spectacular - highly suggest getting the Shepards Pie! Just a huge thank you to the staff and management who made my going away party extra special!

Located at the heart of Little Italy, I really enjoyed their house beer which is also at a great price. Wings and Nachos were so good as well! It's definitely not my first visit of this location but I did not want to miss out leaving an excellent review.

Just got back from lunch, very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and the seafood chowder was amazing, easily one of the best I've had! My wife didn't want to go to a "pub" for lunch, man did she miss out. I'm definitely coming back.

Great live music and considering a Bluesfest concert had just ended with many people crowding Preston and the pub, the service and entertainment was excellent without it feeling too crowded! They were able to accommodate our party of eight with a table at the back last minute and we had such a great time, we’ll definitely be back!

I've always had great experiences here. My favorite is a delicious pint of Guinness and poutine with pulled brisket. Friendly staff and cozy interior make every visit unforgettable.

Went there tonight for an appetizer after a nearby show and was pleasantly surprised at the amazing band that was playing. We sat down at a table (place was really busy) and the waiter presented himself soon after. Alex was absolutely perfect: courteous, friendly, efficient and truly wonderful. Every person we encountered that worked there was super friendly. The food was delicious. Definitely recommend and will absolutely go back. Thank you Alex.

I had the fish n chips and it was delicious! The fish tasted fresh and I could taste the beer in the batter. The musicians were good! The bathroom was clean! I’d go again.

We had excellent service while in this establishment. The seafood chowder was delicious, one of the best that I have had. There was live entertainment setting up as we were leaving. We obviously didn't stay, but it would have been an excellent setting for an intimate show.

Met there with a friend with a purpose of making this location our primary spot for meetings! It’s a beautiful place with safely spaced tables and great atmosphere! The first girl who sat me was nice but we had a different girl serving us whom also took care of the bar. Not only she wouldn’t come to ask for our order but after I walked to her twice and my friend raising his hand and asking her to come she kept ignoring! When she finally brought my glass of wine she literally hit it on the table and left! We are calm and educated people and did not expect such rudeness! Took more than an hour and half for our drinks and food to come! By the time it did, I had completely lost my appetite! This girl is definitely not meant to work in service industry. I left her the tip but I’m not happy I did! Sadly, the other two girls working were engaged in a very long conversation and definitely did not care about their responsibilities! I have always enjoyed this place and am saddened to see the service declining so horribly.

Beautiful patio, good food, great service. It's not inside another business. They haven't started yet because of Covid. But usually the have Bands . They clear the chairs back and have a wonderful dance 💃🕺area.

5 for service, 3 for food. Friendly and attentive server, really appreciate her service. Large beer selection, good place for drinks and snacks. The food is fresh, fast, in good quantity, but the taste is not worth another visit. The 2 appetizers I got were over salty, 2 entree were saltless (the cooking is on point but where’s the salt?!). I wonder if it's done by different chefs.

Nice spot for some pub fare and/or drinks with a great location. The patio is nice, they usually have live music on weekends as well. Service is usually awesome too, which makes a difference in your overall experience.

Seriously, I think I give up on this place. I've been going here for years. The portions are so ridiculously small now and the price has tripled. I most recently had the chipotle chicken wrap 🤮 terrible and you get like 8 fries with it. I paid $27.00 for my meal. I still tipped great because it's not the servers fault. Years ago I like the fish and chips but the portions are a quarter of the size it's not worth it. I literally work in the same building as the H & C, it used to be put go to... just not worth it anymore. Quality and quantity 👎👎👎 I really hope they fix this place.

Stopped by The Heart and Crown Preston on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Hairy Larry Caesar’s were perfect, as was our experience! Selena was fantastic, and the nachos are delicious.

I would have given a 5 if I had been charged the correct amount for my 3 mojitos. Waitress charged me $13 per mojito instead of $9 for the regular mojito (which I asked without sugar). You have 2 types of mojitos and I clearly had the regular one. I only noticed after my partner paid and looked at the bill when I got home! Really disappointing … it’s the principal of the thing. Other than that the food was very good, atmosphere is wonderful and staff is great😁

Great food! I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries. The burger was fantastic and the fries were perfect. I usually prefer thin fries but the thick cut fries here were perfectly done with good crispness on the outside but soft in the inside.

Had a terrific evening with FabRe entertaining us patrons along with excellent service and refreshing beverages. I recommend this hidden gem in and among all the fabulous Italian restaurants!

Nice little spot in the heart of Little Italy. Depending on the night, parking can be tough to find, but there’s lots to look for. Quaint vibe and nice staff.

We had a great time. Sat at the bar because the place was packed, but we didn't feel crowded. Everyone was nice, the service was quick for a busy night. Prices are a bit higher, but I think that's the norm for restaurants in the city.

The food and drinks were great. Service was incredible, considering I was with a large but separated group. They stayed on top of everything, despite looking a bit frustrated at times. I'd give 5 stars, but the servers were dressed like they were about to relax for the weekend as opposed to working at a pub in an entertainment center of the city.

The location is great for larger groups, my team got the whole back room. The staff were quite friendly but pressured quite a bit to donate. I wasn't too happy about the pressure, pretty much raised it 2 times throughout the meal and at the end even announcing to the whole table to raise their hand if they wanted to add their donation to the bill. The food was good but the menu is quite limited. I got the beef melt and I got the fries as the side and it was not much...

I've been here numerous times prior, for drinks but have never stopped for their good items. After trying their top notch appetizers like the perogies and nachos, man, the best I've ever had. And I'm a food critic. Came back for burgers and then fish and chips and then the brisket burger. Absolutely delicious. You need to go there and I promise you that you will not be disappointed. Oh wait, service wise, great service is their standard. So no need to talk about the norm. Haha

Enjoyed tacos and bacon cheeseburger with garden salad for lunch with my daughter. Both were very tasty and plentiful. Our server, Jody, was awesome; just the right amount of attention and service level. Affordable priced.

Heart and Crown is a legend in Ottawa's Irish pubs. Walking into the Preston location is an equally impressive establishment. In keeping with the standard of service, this location is fast, efficient, and friendly. The quality of the food was well prepared and plated to impress. My only criticism would be more fries with the club sandwich however my proclivity to potatoes lies in my Irish genetics and truly, there can never be enough french fries in a serving. With respect to the service by the wait staff, it is exceptional as one would expect from the Heart and Crown. Do not miss the opportunity to visit the heart and Crown especially when there is music to add to an outstanding venue!

Maie was wonderful, attentive, and fun! The burgers were unbelievable. But I have never seen beef from PEI. Is there enough pasture land for the cows. It is awesome beef. The gluten free bun was extremely good, could not tell it was gluten free.

Love this place. The staff is always so friendly and on the ball. The food is amazing (elevated pub fare) and they nail the cozy local spot vibe. Also awesome patio during the summer. Highly recommend.

Its the older crowd version of its younger siblings in the market. The bouncers are extremely aggressive at this location. Beautiful decor and setting with live music. The bartenders will ignore you but are quick to get your drink when they finally get around to getting your order. One of the very few places that make a good crown float.

The service was ok. My coffee was cold and had to ask to warm it up twice. There were 4 of us. Our daughter and partner were served their meals quite a while before we were. I ordered the Stew it was just warm…the meat was tough and the veggies/potatoes were not fully cooked. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. We don’t live in Ottawa we are visiting family. If we did this would not have been a positive experience and we would not return.

Good place to listen to a live band. I just had a retirement party and it was well organized and the place was totally appropriate for the event.

The menu has many delicious food options for a nice pub fare. The plates though are not appropriate for the food type. Lobster Mac and Cheese should be served in a large pasta bowl not a soup bowl. The portion was good for a child. And at $20 you expect an adult portion pasta meal, right? The beef stew should be just as it says, beef pieces in the stew. Not just potatoes with two pieces of meat. I will go back since it's a nice place and I will ask for more food on the plate if it has not changed. With thanks, the service was super awesome, staff were so very friendly. Very nice atmosphere!

Great food, ok service. Really nice place, but parking is a nightmare (not their fault) and the food whilst good is bordering on fancy cafeteria food. It would take just a tiny bit more effort to make the food special and 5 star. Fingers crossed they get there; they're so close

Amazing service, showed up right at opening for a patio lunch while me and my wife waited for our car from the shop. Hostess was amazing, food was amazing and the chef came to bring it to our table. Had an obvious passion for his dishes. Will go again!

This is a dream pub. Recommended specifically by a friend, so I made it a priority; and I'm so glad I did. I had a quart of Beau's Lug Tread, and the Pulled Pork Poutin. So unbelievably delicious. This is a must hit when in Ottawa. Every now and then we get lucky and they're featuring Beau's on tap.

Terrible deep fried shrimps

Visited today, Saturday March 7, 2021. Between 6 to 10pm. Its Safe and covid ready. Distanced tables and plexiglass seperating each table. Not crazy busy. Purell available, wait staff wore masks and service was great. Kudos H&C!

Friendly staff and tasty food. We have been to this Heart & Crown location dozens of times over the years. It has a fantastic summer patio! Unfortunately, they can be quite understaffed at times, causing delays in service and inconsistencies in food prep.
