Two double bacon cheese burgers with two kinds of poutine...this was my first time ordering from here and I regret nothing! I read the reviews first and was curious what I was going to get after seeing a few 1 star reviews. Well, I'm not sure if I got lucky or if those comments are from jealous competitors but my order was spectacular! The poutine is exactly how I've always thought restaurants should prep it for take out, with gravy on the side for you to pour it on when you're ready. That way it doesn't get soggy or drowned. The spicy curly fries with seasoning salt.... MMMMMMMMmmmmmmm The burgers were super delicious, well seasoned. The buns were fresh, soft and golden brown with a crisp. The toppings were well distributed and plenty. Nothing slid out of place, it was very satisfying and I highly recommend giving them a try. Don't let the bad reviews discourage you!

Drinks are watered down. Read your bill before you pay.

I’ve been twice over the past week and both times had the beefsteak tomato burger made vegan which was amazing. I decided to try the St Elgin cocktail which is very fresh and easy drinking and their “kola” cocktail which was delicious! The service was great! Even as the night went on, and things got more busy, the service never faltered from being anything less than amazing. Will probably be back very soon to try the veggie patty!

I ordered the double cheese and it was delicious! The curly fries were great as well and not overly spicy. One of the best patties I've ever had. It was legitimately cooked to perfection with a slightly hard outside and a very soft inside. The service was quick and friendly. However, I thought that $8 for 12.5 oz of a lager was a bit of a strange price-point, and while there were a huge amount of beer options from bottles/cans, having only one tap option, with no full pint, leaves a lot to be desired. The decor and overall look and feel of Gburger was fantastic, although the TVs and what was playing on them took a little bit away from the experience in my opinion. I'd love to return another time and see if the beer on tap has improved! Cheers 🍻

Cute restaurant service gourmet burgers. Plenty plant-base choices. Extensive wine list. Cute cocktails. Good non-alcoholic drink, but should have more mocktail options for non-drinkers. Service was exceptional, our waiter was very attentive. The place feels cold temperature wise; I'm assuming due to giant windows (bring a sweater). All-in-all food was top notch, everything is made in house from "chicken nuggets" to burger buns. 10 on 10 would recommend 👌

I don’t say this lightly... best burger in Ottawa. And I think I have tried most. The buns are magical and the patties are cooked perfectly. We have tried to copy the French fry seasoning at home but we can’t do it. Love this food!

We had a gorgeous patio night out at Gburger! The server was super nice and the patio is really cute with the lights and pink paint. I had the Gitanes Burger and my partner had the Fish Sandwich and they were both delicious. A little too saucy for my taste but it was still wonderful.

DISASTER! If you have food allergies, stay away!!! The staff do not read your order. We ordered the first time and asked for no gluten and no dairy. We received food with dairy. I became sick. We were offered free food. We forgave this place and gave them a second chance. We asked for no gluten and no dairy and specified a lettuce bun. We received gluten and I am not sure what else! I dare not bite their food.

Was really impressed with the plant based burgers and the spicy fry poutine had a delightful kick! Definitely hits the spot when craving a burger! Service was also lovely, server was happy to chat, checked on us at perfect intervals and kept the water topped up!

Very cool modern diner spot. Love the interior, and I had their (chicken) Kiev Burger which is both incredibly delicious and some of the money goes toward helping the war effort in Ukraine. It wasn’t on their menu so you might have to ask if they’re still making them.

I went recently and had a great time sitting at the bar and seeing the partially open kitchen in action! The menu items featured here are: Gitanes Burger ($14): Époisses cheese, charred and pickled red onion, aioli, bordelaise - such a classic! I had this before at Gitanes, and found it very indulgent. Definitely hits the spot for a burger craving! Fried chicken sandwich ($13.50): buffalo sauce, ranch, radish and dill slaw, pickles - this was a treat, with a large piece of fried chicken. I love when the meat is larger than the bun! Spicy curly fries ($7.50): SUCH a nostalgic item for me. I would always get this back in my high school cafeteria with friends. The spice mix on this is really flavourful! Poutine ($11.50): Whenever there is poutine on the menu, I can't resist trying it. This was a simple, classic version. Root Beer Float ($8, non-alcoholic): such a classic! I love that use a metal straw and put a maraschino cherry on top. Tooth & Nail Fortitude Stout ($8, beer): easy-drinking and goes well with indulgent foods.

Gitanes Burger makes one of the finest Vegan burgers in Ottawa. This was one of my favourite venues to visit after a long night out on Elgin Street. Admittedly, I have been known to stumble over here all the way Byward market, if the weather is nice. I like to double up and order the PB lil guy and the PB lil Chicken. Together they form a lethal combo with both sandwiches proving to be delicious. My only complaint is that I have snuck over here a few times around 1 AM and the store has been closed. I can not blame them for that though because, they have to go to sleep eventually too. I would also like to shoutout the staff who have been pleasant and hardworking on every occasion I was there. They are always happy to humour my light banter in my state of innebriation. If you want to avoid a severe hangover, head to Gitanes Burger before you finish your evening.

Avoid this place for breakfast!! We arrived around 11am while it was dead, with 1 server and 2 bartenders for 25 customers. Because there was no windbreaker everytime the door opened a massive draft blew through the entire restaurent. We saw other patrons upset at having to wait and saw them go to the bar to place a drink order. A couple that came in after us got served water before us and another couple waited in the entryway for 10mins to be seated and simply left after not receiving service. Eventually we decided to leave after waiting 25 mins (we hadnt even been served water at this point ) no service or interaction. The staff simply seemed that they didnt care.

Great flavours, great service (Cayt), nice decor. Was really looking forward to trying them out, and was finally able to try the Single Fromage and Fish Filet. The burger buns are made daily and taste delicious. For some reason everything I tried reminded me of McDonalds. Their special sauce tasted like Big Mac sauce. The patty was just as thick as well. Which is too bad because the bun is thick so you don’t taste the beef patty very much. You can tell the flavour is there, but they need to increase the size of the patty. The Fish Fillet was pretty good. The fish piece was thick, but the horse radish in the sauce was dominant. The fries are also thin style like McD’s but not as crispy. Finished the meal with the apple pie. Again it was similar in flavour to the McDonald’s apple pies. Unfortunately for those prices, and because they reminded me so much of McD’s, I won’t be rushing to come back unless there’s some revamping of the menu and burgers.

Food portions are rediculously tiny relative to the price. The taste doesn't even make up for it either.

I’ve had G Burger a few times now through UberEats all of which were of great taste and value. I stopped in for the first time during a event with the Almont butcher shop where they had a special menu featuring sausages and lamb burgers. When spending $19 for a burger you kind of assumed that it would come with fries but in this case it didn’t so I was a bit disappointed on the value of my meal. That being said everything still tasted amazing and the service was great but I think one possible change would be the value of what you get. I would definitely recommend but there are spots in town that you can get more for your money.

What to try? Their cocktails!!! Absolutely love the atmosphere here. Especially when you're used to the king st scenes in Toronto, you'll like to spend your night out here. Highlighted in the restaurant is their wall of roses. I bet there's over 1000 dried roses found on the wall here and the best thing is, you can also smell the rose when you get close to the wall too. Their cocktails are really good too. Especially if you liked the smokey drinks, they smoke the drink right in front of you with a flask that covers the drink as the drink absorbs the smoke. One of the co-owners, Warren, is such a great host and takes the time to get to know each of his customer if you have the interest to meet the owners of the place. Last tip? Sit at the bar to get the full experience with the bar tenders as they show off their bar tending skills making the drinks. You won't regret it. Get there early if you want a seat, but it only gets better as the night goes on since the DJ comes in after 11 pm to spin some hip hop and rap songs to your ears pleasure!

Very nice place with delicious burgers and a variety of alcohol, from beer and young local wine to a variety of cocktails and whiskeys. Excited the burgers could be customised accordingly to the mood and spirit of a day :) For example, I can order a super hearty L’Americaine with a freshly prepared brioche bun, as well as gluten-free or lettuce wrap. Was curious to try the same burger but vegan, had to share it with my husband, because it was so huge and tasty. I can also recommend the burger with fish fillet and of course the signature and super juicy Gitanes Burger - my favourite for sure. Romaine Heart Caesar is always both in the morning and at any time of the day. I definitely recommend this place🍷👌

Late night snack. Had the vegan Américaine. Realized after that they put fakon when you order it vegan. I usually only replace the beef. But the burger was amazing!! All he flavors were balanced and everything fit together! Loved it

Absolutely fantastic food and service. 10/10 would order again! After placing the order, they took the time to call me to offer various alternatives as a result of a dairy allergy. Sliders were awesome. Fried chicken sammy crispy and juicy. Finally can’t go wrong with their Américaine.

Came here because of recommendation, the place has a beautiful modern decor, the space is well utilized. It gets very busy around 8pm and up, so arrive early or reserve a table. Their specialty is cocktails which are indeed very interesting - I liked the one with bacon and egg whites. They don't have any beers on tap, only cans. We ordered a steak with fries which was very average. I had their "burger pour moi" which is just a burger with melted cheese and fries. The beef patty was oversalted to the max, so I didn't even enjoy it. The service was good, no complaints. Would not order food here anymore. Good for cocktails.

Between the little smash burgers with curly fries and the unicorn cocktail, it is SO hard to choose a favourite. They also have an amazing wine selection if that's more your thing. This place is delightfully unique with great knowledgeable staff. Even down to the cute branded wrapping, it is always an experience dining with Gitanes Burger. Highly recommend!

Really enjoyed the taste of the herbed gravy for the poutine!! Enjoyed the fish burger too - although kind of wish the portion was a bit bigger. Overall an ok experience!

Stellar burgers, desserts and service. Eclectic wine menu on hand and a sommelier to help you make the tough choices. Burger variety is good with something for everyone, from classics to chicken sandwiches and fish burgers. Nuggies, Steamies, floats, sodas and lots of beer and wine by the glass. Even the desserts don't disappoint. Well worth your time. Probably Ottawa's best burger place and there's a patio with a great view.

Ask for Melissa, incredible server/somm/person all in all. She knows what's up with the menu, with the food scene in Ottawa. Don't lose her. Nuggets are kinda bland/ underwhelming, fries are great. Burgers are next level.

I guess looks can be deceiving! When I first saw my veggie burger I thought it looked small and, if I am being honest, overpriced. Disappointed about the size and expecting the burger to be just OK, I took a bite and . . . wow, it was delicious. Same for the geen salad that I ordered. By the end of the meal my mood had changed and I was a happy customer. Bottom Line: With delicious food, cool setting (I really liked the arcade games), and tasty vegetarian options, I would definitely come back.

This restaurant cares about walk in customers only but they have no care for on-line customers. They should realize that on-line customers are also valued customers rather they pay premium price for their items (Walk in price and online price are not same). Even when you go there at the front reception, it'd be you shear luck to get any attention from any staffs especially, if someone is there to pick up they would pretend that they didn't see you just to avoid any extra work. You just stand there as if you're in a camp waiting to get some food. If you're are a delivery person and see any order from this restaurant, just decline it because your self respect is more important than money. These guys forget that they were survived by online orders during COVID..

This is one tasty burger. Fed my crew of six with a 12-pack of the Lil Guy Burger. Dijonaise sauce, pickles and onions mashed one tasty burger experience. Order a batch of regular and curly spicy fries to go with it. Service was outstanding. Fully licensed with wine, beer and cocktail options. Will be going back for sure!

The hotdog is surprisingly good!! Actually my favorite out of everything we ordered. Gitanes was great, creative, tasting great the first few bites. But I had to admit that I don’t like it that much when it becomes soaky. Salad was fantastic. Chicken nuggets were okay, very dense. The decoration of the store is my favorite- a little retro looking - perfect color matching.

The burgers here are great (comparable to a few other establishments in Ottawa) and I liked the fact that it is good quality meat. HOWEVER, the price of alcohol and our overall bill made it so it was not worth it. A pitcher of house lager? $37. A tall can of Dominion City? $13! Our bill included two burgers and a pitcher of beer and it was $89 before taxes. Absolutely insane and the price was not worth it. Also, our fries were cold. Will not be returning.

Overall it was a good experience! For $40 pre tip I do wish the meals came with a drink. Definitely a step up from McDonalds despite how some others feel. The regular bun was delicious but the gluten free bun was on the tougher side so didn’t finish. We did really appreciate the care directed towards those with Celiac rather than just gluten intolerence! (: The service was quick too Some places charge $5+ for a gf bun substitute so was really happy to see this wasn’t the case here despite the texture. I’d recommend other Celiacs dine here

COMMON is very good. The atmosphere is perfect for drinks with friends or a date. The vibe makes you want to hang out there for hours. If you're looking for 'that spot' to come back to and unwind at time and time again, this is probably the place. As for the food, I had the Schnitzel and it was great. Perfectly crispy outside and juicy inside. It was also a very, very generous portion (it filled the entire plate - what you want when you get a good schnitzel) and the price point was great too. My date got fried chicken, mash, gravy, and the kitchen's take on collard greens (kale with chef cut bacon). Again the portion was very generous and she really enjoyed it. You will not leave hungry. You can tell the kitchen staff not only can execute, but are very creative as well. Although we did not get dessert, their dessert menu sounded outstanding. I definately appreciated the thought put into each item as the waitress explained the dessert selection. The staff was very kind and friendly as well. I'll be back.

This was my first time (been wanting to try for a while) and am SO HAPPY that I did! They were so busy with orders flying in and out! The staff were all the friendliest and the food is incredible, like wow! My eyes were a bit bigger than my belly this time around but NO REGRETS! They even threw in an ice cream sandwhich for the longer than advertised wait time. Very nice touch! Will have to eat that later though 😉 100% would recommend and can't wait to come back!

Ordered take out today for our family, we got 9 burgers total, 2 fries 1 curly fries poutine.The portion size of the burgers couldn’t even feed a kid, the fried chicken sandwich was really dry and had no seasoning or minimal seasoning, literally tasted like I was eating boiled chicken. All the other burgers were also bland, the only thing that had seasoning were their fries but couldn’t even finish them because they were too salty. Definitely one of the worse places I’ve eaten from, was looking forward to this place from all the hype and great reviews but it was definitely a big let down.

I really enjoy the atmosphere in this restaurant. The meals are always very well prepared and presented. The staff is just wonderful. I am very fond of the weekend brunches and James makes the best coffees. They are upstairs from the street and handicapped access would be challenging if not impossible for some. There is no dedicated parking.

Their burgers and French fries were delicious! What made the experience even better was how accommodating they were to dietary restrictions and their friendly service over the phone!

a 6 pack of lil guys with an order of their curly fries is my go to for my weekly cheat meal. The burgers are absolutely AMAZING! Perfect little bite size burgers seasoned to perfection. And the dijonnaise give your taste buds a nice zesty/ creamy kick! Next Saturdays cheat meal can't come soon enough!

Should I have eaten 8 little guys in one sitting? No. Did I? ........ yes.

*update 09/02/2018* Came here for brunch yesterday and it was great! Got the veggie benny and it tasted so delicious. You can tell the ingredients are fresh as well. Went from 3 stars to 4 for good food, but we never got our tea.

Amazing! And free delivery, a rarity these days.

Best burger I've ever had

I think the quality is there so 3 stars for that! The prices don't make sense however. Burgers are less than the size of a McDouble and don't quite feed you for how ludicrously expensive they are.

it's pretty random but their ice cream sandwich is the most delicious ice cream sandwich I've ever eaten.

The burgers were good, however the portions are small. The regular burgers are slightly bigger than what you would expect a slider to come in. The corndogs were disappointing, mostly due to their texture.

Decent place for a meal, but nothing fancy. I would recommend to stay away from the vegetarian options because they are limited and not worth the price for the portion size.

Went for brunch with a couple of my girlfriends. Our food took a while. The waitress seemed really relaxed and snobby. Mimosa was meh...don't get it. Otherwise food was good.

It was dead and staff was not very on the ball even though it was empty . Not sure if it's due to construction and staffs moral is just down due to lack of customers or what the deal was . I will be back in the future after construction to see how it is then .

Went for brunch and had the eggs benny and French toast. Both were delicious! Service was a tad slow because they were prepping for a private event, but the staff were super friendly and they apologized a few times for the delay.

Great cocktails, delicious food, friendly staff! Highly recommend the "For the love of Wakanda" cocktail.

Great food and atmosphere

Glad I finally got to try their burger ! I’ve wanted to for a while! We used Uber eats for delivery, which obviously resulted in slightly colder food than you’d want but reality of covid/lockdown. Burger was delicious, no complaints there! We split a curly fry poutine it was pretty good, but we definitely could have eaten one each rather than splitting!

I previously rated as five stars, but since the menu changed, quality and flavour has gone significantly down. I hope they can work on this and get back to where they were. Very disappointing.
