Pre Covid prices do exist for market modern food. Had a great summers evening supper at Oz Cafe. Only been once before at the older Elgin location. Which also left me very impressed. They continue their habit of an off the beaten path location. Took a couple turns to find the new location which is close to other popular market restaurants. Nice atmosphere of the heritage buildings. Appetizers were both big on quantity and flavour. Main course. The pork chop stole the show. Look at how much protein you receive ! Desserts were yummy. Maybe needed just one for 3 of us. Will visit again. A hidden gem in ottawa.

The ambience and food was truly delicious! The pork tenderloin.. one of the best dish I’ve had in a while, everything on that plate was very very delicious. i especially loved the corn. The cocktail, and the appetizer were also nice. The servers were friendly, and I can definitely see myself visiting here again.

Had a fantastic night. Think keg mixed with a speak easy? Idk man it was such a nice place. Loved the vibe, nice building and entrance. Server was incredible, name started with an M. She was so chill. Drinks where amazing.

The food was new and interesting. The service however was extremely slow. The prices were adequate for the location and food that was served. Overall it was an okay experience. Good atmosphere. I wish I could have given this place a 3.5 *. That's probably more accurate...

Starting off positive : great spot and very cozy! Also on point: appetizers. I had the Nordic shrimp my partner had the beet and pear salad. Both were top-notch. The mains however didn’t fare nearly as well. The seared trout had good flavours with only the inkling of being cooked. Cornish hen was nicely done at the accompanying vegetables and gratin could have used more oomph. Presentation and food temperature were both very good. The service started out strong however began to deteriorate throughout the meal. We sat for 20+ minutes after completing our meals without a single check in by any staff. If we had better service that was consistent throughout the experience I’d be able to rate the OZ Kafe better.

Creative and flavourful food combinations, nestled away from the touristic hustle and bustle of the Market. Build your own platter out of a smart selection of cheeses and home made charcuterie. Between the four of us we sampled four plates and they were all original and excellent. Very good value for money given the food quality. Kudos to the chef to curate a smaller menu of signature dishes with skill, and obviously a lot of heart.

Beautiful evening in this gem of a restaurant. Great succulent dishes for vegetarians. Love this place hidden on the market.

The Oz Kafe is an amazing spot for food enjoyers, very low-key and takes a little effort to find, but very rewarding! Would definitely recommend for date nights or just to try their amazing food!

Great little place with a beautiful atmosphere. Hands down the best Caesar cocktail I have ever had! Their charcuterie board was outstanding as well. I liked how you could pick what you would like on it.

Nice back alley restaurant. Reserved in advance for indoor and they contacted us to upgrade us to outdoor after an opening. We had two cheeses and three charcuteries (rilette, terrine, lamb sausage), Spanish white wine and a strawberry tartelette. Wine was great and paired well with our platter. Cheddar was very nice and lightly strong. Meats were nice, especially the terrine and pickled veggies. Would appreciate a bit of fresh bread with them instead of just crispy crosstinis. Strawberry tart crust was way too thick (while fully cooked); we expected the tart to fly off the plate every time we tried to cut it (we don't eat with our hands).

This was truly an experience. My belly and I were extremely happy. Great service and atmosphere. I highly recommend.

An excellent restaurant located in the heart of Ottawa. A fantastic, elegant atmosphere and wonderful food for a reasonable price. Charcuterie was a perfect appetizer for our main. The steak was wonderfully seasoned and paired perfectly with the jus. Will certainly be coming back.

My husband and I were looking forward to a nice dinner. We chose this restaurant based on location and reviews. Unfortunately we were very disappointed in the food. The cauliflower garlic soup we ordered was lukewarm. The trout dinner was lukewarm. Half the trout was raw. The carrots could barely be cut through and had too much salt. The beef dinner was lukewarm. The wait staff was pleasant. While we were offered free desserts which we were not interested in and then given a free glass of wine, it was disappointing that the manager did not come to talk to us about the food coming out of his kitchen. Will never go back and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Had heard lots about this cute little place somewhat hidden in the Byward market and I am glad I checked it out. The the food tasted just average to me, but it was portioned well and the presentation looked great. Moreover, the ambience and service was above average.

This place exceeded my expectations. We had the broccoli Caesar and mushroom cavatelli as an appetizer (both were delicious). For the mains we had lamb, Cornish hen and trout. All were delicious but missing that “WOW” factor for me. The broccoli caesar, mushroom cavatelli, celery brown butter pure that came with the Cornish hen were the real stand outs for me. Worth checking out! The service was also exceptional.

I'm really disappointed this evening with the quality of food. We ordered a chicken dish and fish, and both plates had more than normal small portions, especially the chicken. The sad part is that the green beans were not cooked cooked. Truly disappointing !! I do not believe I will be back. If you charge a 37$ plate, make sure it looks appetizing, well presented, and quality matches the food that you are serving to your customers.

My husband and I visited Ottawa for the first time in years, and this was our first dinner of the Victoria Day long weekend. We read good reviews and decided to try it out. It ended up being our most memorable meal! The food, drinks, atmosphere, and service was exceptional. Kudos to the chef and bartender! Both are exceptionally talented. We had soup and beef carpaccio for starters, and the steak and hen for dinner. All were to die for. We would recommend Oz to anyone in a heartbeat!

I had high hopes on this place, but was a bit of a turn down. Ambience was nice, although the light were flashing sometimes. Perhaps it was the light on our table. Presentation was nice. Taste was just ok for most part, expected more from the restaurant. The options were very less for non-meat eaters. Service seems to be pub par at such a steep price. Kid menu options are non-existent. Not really a family restaurant.

Excellent preparation, presentation and tasteful creative dishes... atmosphere is just amazing and perfect for romantic night... on valentines day, they did give bag full of chocolates too... don't miss it...

Our first visit was excellent. Our server was fantastic, providing recommendations and the perfect amount of attention to our group. The food was wonderful. We had the beet salad, the mushroom cavatelli, the pepper crusted Cornish hen and a charcuterie board. Refreshing drinks and a lovely dessert rounded out the evening. Thank you Oz Kafe.

The food was delightful. The service was beyond our expectations. I can tell for sure that Oz Kafe is one of my favorite places in Ottawa and one of the best restaurants I have ever tested since I arrived in this city.

The atmosphere, staff and proprietors make this dining experience well above expectations. It was a very relaxed experience and the tastes were very well orchestrated and paired with each plate from the starters to the main course. The service was attentive but subtle in our dining pleasure. Will be making this a regular occurrence.

Went there for a group dinner in this cozy historical building. All the entrees looked yummy. I had the duck confirmed which was delicious. Great service. There is live music on the weekend.

We had dinner at OZ Kafe this past week, and what a great find. Cocktails, appetizers, mains, and desert were excellent, as was the service. We will definitely go back again. They even gave us a call to let us know I had forgotten my water bottle at the table - which was really appreciated!

First time going to Oz Kafe since they moved from Elgin. i was extremely impressed with both the food and service. Bartender made my (pregnant) wife a fabulous mocktail. Server heard me talking about fried chicken (random) and recommended off the menu chicken wings which were absolutely fantastic. i ate with 3 other people and every single one of our meals was fantastic. If you've never been here before, i highly recommend!

Surprised by what this place offered! Service was great and food was delicious. Had some specialty appetizers that were delicious and creative. Gave one star less than perfect because the appetizer I really wanted was not available and we weren't told until after I asked where it was. Other than that, I was also surprised by their tenderloin. I expected it not to be as good as it was and I was proven wrong. Would recommend and go back.

Everything about this restaurant, from the ambiance, service and food was impeccable. My husband is celiac and they were able to accompany easily - with the reassurance to avoid cross contamination too. Would most definitely go back over and over again. Kevin the bartender was so wonderful too! Thank you for making our night so special.

Excellent experience at Oz Kafe tonight. They are very well set up for covid on the patio and the waiters all wore their masks properly and I never saw any of them even play with it. Excellent food, we ordered the sirloin, the burgers, the stuffed zucchini, a cheese board and a chocolate tart, everything was very appetizing! We stayed 2 hrs and did not feel rushed at all, excellent service!

Nice place, good food, but unfortunately slow unattended (or overwhelmed)service. 20 minutes to be offered a cocktail, 25 more for it to arrive. Our dinner came with our cocktails which wasn't what we were hoping for (steak pairs better with wine than a paper plane). Friendly staff when they came to check on us but had to repeatedly ask for everything (wine, an entree my wife asked to order after her appetizer, dessert menu 15 min after plates cleared and coffee). Good food, served hot but fell short on service. Probably would have given 2.5 stars if I could have but 2 would be too low.

Awesome service, every waiter was engaged in providing great service. Perfect level of attention, water top ups, check-ins. Food was excellent. Strongly recommend the Cornish hen. Damin was awesome 👌 Au gratis anniversary dessert was so nice. Will be back again.

We had our intimate wedding of 35 people at Oz this spring and we were overjoyed with how the evening turned out. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the team was very easy to work with and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great night. Our guests were very happy too! A bit hard to find as the main access via York Street was blocked by construction but well worth it. Very friendly staff and fast service. The smoked pork tenderloin had the perfect temperature.

One of our absolutely favorite places to eat in Ottawa. The Sunday charcuterie board special is amazing. What a great way to try out some great meats and cheeses. Also, they have Kronenbourg 1664 on tap. Win. Win. Win.

We had a fantastic dinning experience. The stake wasn’t as tender as I would have liked - but it was still so delicious. Always have a fantastic experience time at Oz.

New Year‘s Eve dinner was a set menu that was good, but I would have preferred to be able to order from the menu since it was way too much food for me and at $100 it seemed a waste since I couldn’t eat it all. The stone wall decor is wonderful and the service was prompt and friendly. Best item: the white bean fritters were AMAZING! Worst item: the black garlic spaghetti was too salty and did not have the texture and taste of fresh pasta. I would recommend this place for apps and drinks, but probably not for full dinners.

I’ve heard about Oz Kafe for years but I only went there for the first time yesterday. I had an aperol summer cocktail with a charcuterie board and I was so impressed with the quality of drinks, food, and the wonderful service. Oz understands the art of building good customer rapport, supporting the local economy, making delicious food, and curated drinks. Their menu is well priced and they’re in a great location tucked away in the bymarket courtyard. 100% recommend going.

Stopped in with no reservation on a Sunday night with my wife and sat at the bar. Such friendly staff! Excellent charcuterie, (half off Sunday!) perfect atmosphere..and when they found it was our anniversarish..(was a few days before), they gave us a free desert.. Will be returning for sure!

Looks like a great place, however, prices aren't listed anywhere! I just want to know what I would be paying so I can plan my night accordingly. Restaurants appear very pretentious and uppity when they refuse to list prices.

Great service and amazing food... Just a pleasure to be there.

Decided to try Oz for our anniversary dinner. We had never been and were excited to check it out. While the food was absolutely delicious, the service was seriously lacking. In my opinion, if you are paying $65 for a steak, you are also paying for a certain level of service... which we definitely did not receive. Very infrequent visits to the table, minimal wine tops ups (I believe only once), no bread brought to the table, and when we had finished eating we sat for 10-15 minutes with dirty plates in front of us. The table beside us had a different server who was quite attentive and ended up billing us out at the end of the night because again, we sat for about 10-15 minutes with our credit card on the table. Perhaps just bad luck but overall it left a sour taste in our mouths. Our server did bring a chocolate torte “on the house” for our anniversary which was very nice, and as I said we both enjoyed our beef dishes very much. However we were disappointed with the substandard service for a $250 meal. I would trying going back again perhaps in the summer and hope for better service, but not rushing back anytime soon.

For the price, it’s not worth it and it’s borderline insulting. Everything they recommended was beyond atrocious. Will not be visiting again - do yourself a favour and spend your hard earned money at an actual reputable establishment.

WOW! I had not even heard of this gem of a restaurant in the Market, but it was incredible. Great upscale night out with local beers, cheeses, meats (even some made in house!). Our server was very knowledgeable and also a sommelier, so very helpful! I really appreciated that they just put the tip on everyone's bill for our large group, so it saved some time in leaving and made sure the staff was appropriately tipped. Rotating seasonal menu that takes advantage of local ingredients. I had the lamb with squash puree and lots of other amazing side-dishes. The server described it like "the best Christmas dinner ever!" and I completely agree. Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

Nice ambiance, comfortable atmosphere. We had shrimp toast, Cornish hen and steak. It was all good, but not fabulous. At this price point, we likely head elsewhere with more inventive flavours but understand why people like it.
