Right in the middle of the byward market in the local Ottawa city. a spacious restaurant that has option for breakfast brunch lunch and dinner. it is located at the corner of the block so if you can get a window seat you may enjoy the view by the window. The wait staff are very friendly and efficiently. I have only tried the salmon Benedict, but I loved it. it is a dog-friendly restaurant. I saw a tiny dog run around after being unleashed. It ran to the kitchen to say hi to the staff, The staff was so friendly and carry it back to the owner

They know how to execute some killer food here! The NFC chicken tenders and fries were awesome! The chicken was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Also enjoyed the B.L.T.E(fried egg), and I omitted the cheese. They put it on a croissant, and I think I'll start eating it this way from now on. Lol My sandwich came with fries or a salad, so I got the salad. It was fresh and delicious! Yum! My only slight ding here was for service. Our server was not to be found after we got our food. My husband never got a refill on his Diet Pepsi...so we paid $3.75 for one baby glass. Then, we had to go up to him at the counter after we were done eating so we could pay. But, like I said, a very small complaint on a great meal. I would definitely still recommend this place.

A very popular local diner with famous shakes and wholesome food served hot and delicious. All day breakfast is a bonus and very plentiful. Even their salads are big and fresh. Burgers are made fresh with never frozen beef and special ingredients. Their spacious new place is right beside their old location. Always good food and drinks!

I went here because it’s pet friendly. I was able to either eat inside or in the patio. The food is good enough to feel full, but do not expect anything fancy. The washrooms were smelling awful… other than that the services were great! Everyone was kind.

A great place to go because there's something for everyone! I went there for the whole earth salad and it was awesome! Truly so fresh and a huge size so very filling! The vinaigrette was just the right amount and really delicious. On the other hand, my partner is more of a meat-eater and really enjoyed their NFC chicken sandwich (the fries that came with were awesome as well). If you go between 3-6pm you can access their happy hour drink menu and they are pretty good value! Really beautiful interior of the restaurant and the staff was so friendly and helpful. A unique take on the classic diner - 5 stars!

Great place and wonderful staff! Fries are one of the best ever had Melt burger sandwich is a separate tasteful experience! Bread around fish was too oily to my liking but still good

From the moment we arrived, the service was amazing. We went on Canada Day, and they were busy, so we had to wait for a table. They checked on us while in line and we’re super welcoming. Inside, the restaurant is beautifully designed, with a nice bar front and centre. The food touched the spot, and definitely was made with love. Perfectly seasoned and beautifully plated. This place is much better than some competitors nearby. Will definitely be back!

We stopped here by chance and we loved the vibe as soon as we stepped in. The service was a little slow so make sure you have enough time. Our server continued to check on us and assure us our food was coming throughout our time there. The food was very delicious and worth the wait. We would definitely come back!

It was our best decision that we had visited here to have our breakfast. The server was a very helpful and kind lady and served us exactly what we were looking for.

Walked across this place and decided to try it out for breakfast. The food was delicious, drinks were tasty and the service was friendly, good communication and attentive :) my partner ordered the Queen Eggs Benny which he demolished and I ordered the chicken and waffles with an egg on top and I’m a self proclaimed fried chicken aficionado and it was very good and juicy. The gravy was so delicious. The price we paid average 17-25 per dish. It’s always a good sign when you read the menu and you want to try almost everything. Will definitely come back here!!

Easily one of the best breakfast joints in Ottawa. The ambience is great, clean look and well spaced giving off a diner look. The staff are friendly and very warm. Service is quick and they have a generous portion size. The soda float was good, the NFC & Waffles were just great! The waffles did not feel heavy and the fried chicken is one of the best I have had in town! The poached eggs in the King Portobello were just perfection. Would definitely recommend this restaurant I will be back here for a good breakfast!

I ordered the Morning Glory with homemade breakfast fries upgraded to poutine -you had choice of regular fries. Honestly, the meal was nothing special. I wish I would have ordered the King Eddy instead. I ordered my eggs over medium-posted a picture of egg for you to see. Portions on the average side for breakfast fries would have rather had them on my plate instead of in a bowl and larger portion would have been appreciated. Bun a little too crispy on edges for my taste but you can decide by looking at pics and gravy was only blah for my taste. I prefer A A and W Or KFC gravy. The sausage had a good kick to it if you like a little spicy. Underwhelming for something identified in the menu as being voted Ottawas number 1 breakfast sandwich. I suggest going to the restaurant but order something else. Staff friendly and I did not mention my experience to them as I was in a hurry and no time to point out my misgivings. See pics below. They did ask me how it was and in fairness I said fine … not sure if I had voiced my concerns what they might have done. Suggestion to restaurant-fill potatoes to rim of bowl-potatoes are not that expensive in market. 😁

Very nice place to eat breakfast, the staff is nice and always present. The food is delicious as well! The place's theme makes me think of the Archie's comics, which I love.

Had the Strippers and Fries for dinner - absolutely stellar, definitely try the hot honey for dipping. Service was great so we dropped by for breakfast the next morning. King Eddy breakfast was tasty, with a generous portion of potatoes, eggs cooked perfectly to order. Star of the breakfast was a side pancake, which is a must to round out the meal. Our favorite spot in Byward.

Visited this place for the Happy Hour we loved the combination of Steam whistle with Lemonade absolutely yummmy perfect for those who love a light beer taste. My partner and I ordered The King Eddy Burger and Chicken and Waffles. Seasoning on the chicken was perfect and texture of the waffles were so nice and fluffy also their gravy was delicious. On the flipside my partner’s burger was good just nothing too spectacular. Loved the decor and the vibe not your typical diner which was cute. We definitely plan to come back again and maybe bring friends this time around!

First time at the King Eddy, and we loved it! We went for brunch, I had the breakfast sandwich that was voted best in ottawa, it was delicious! The sausages were pretty spicy in the sandwich but it didn’t bother me. The potatoes were so good! Went with 4 girlfriends and shared a jug of mimosas which was a great deal. Considering they put sparkling water in their minosas, if you get 1 for $11 I don’t think that’s a good value but for the jug ($22 between 4) it was perfect. Will be back for sure!

Went to the King Eddy for lunch today. The temperature in the restaurant was perfect. We sat near the giant open door/window. The food was good! My husband got a burger. My son got some NFC fingers, which were super crispy. My daughter got the pancakes, which she loved. I got the Eddy's hot spicy chicken. It was very tasty, not as hot as I had thought it would be... But I have a high tolerance for spicy. Overall we will go back, andy husband is there usually once a week.

They got voted best breakfast sandwich in ottawa.....after trying it, I believe it. This place feels like someone's had dreams of opening the best decadent diner and pulled it off. The selection is large and the food is very good. I love the cartoon art style of King Eddy, I would buy a comic book based on the character.

This place was super busy on a Saturday morning. Took about 15-20 minutes to get seated at the bar. Our waiter was the bartender so he was very busy but was attentive to us. The food was very good and worth the wait. The poutine was salty and had a good amount of cheese. The breakfast plate was pretty standard and average. The yogurt granola plate was very good and healthy. It was all decently priced. I would return to The King Eddy but maybe to try the lunch menu.

I had a grilled cheese and chocolate milkshake.. they were pretty standard. Next time I come back I'd like to try a burger or pancakes. The staff were great and a huge highlight for me was the retro feel and cool mural.

A new Ottawa restaurant fave! So hard to decide what to get from the menu! Every item read so deliciously! Ended up getting some milkshake and float, Grilled Cheese with Jalapeño and Tomato Soup, Quebec Poutine and Mac and Cheese. The milkshakes were an okay size. We finished them way before we got our food. Given, they were so good! The portions are massive! There was no need for me to add the tomato soup to my grilled cheese. The Mac and Cheese was simply delectable! I would order for myself next time! And the poutine I could dangerously have everyday! Staff were patient and friendly and very helpful with recommendations. Will certainly be back for more!

I just had their The King Eddy breakfast for brunch and I was very flavourful and filling. I was surprised how the rye bread complimented the dish as I ordered white originally but was surprised with rye (in good way and glad I did too, it worked on so many levels) Since we arrived after 11am, the wait was a little long but only waited 10 minutes and it was definitely worth the wait. Our host assured us it wasn’t a long wait once we arrived and we were just waiting for people to leave so they can clear a table for us. Once we sat down, service was great and wasn’t long at all. Compliments to our server and the entire staff for a great execution. I would definitely recommend eating here again!!🙏 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around DT Ottawa with friends. I had the Eddy's Hot Fire Spicy Chicken which I enjoyed (great flavour but could use more heat!). The service was on the slow side (maybe a busier lunch hour). Other than that, quite good food.

We went on our first outing as a family to a restaurant with our almost 3 year old son since the pandemic! We were excited! Now first off, the food, when we finally received it, was very delicious!! French toast, spicy chicken sandwich and a BLT with an egg....thing?! Also ordered the ceasar and was a fan! (Wish it was bigger!) I understand food takes time, and it was fairly busy, but we were waiting for our food for like 1.5 to almost 2 hours. Let alone have our beverages for well over 30-40 mins. HECK we didn't even get menus as we sat down and had to wait the time we would have to check on what we would like to order. Our waiter was nice and apologetic for things taking so long but if food takes this long to cook, maybe less seating is in order. I will go again because the food WAS that good, but I am hoping maybe I won't be waiting so long for a beverage.

Awesome place to dine. The 1st time I went to this place, I had NFC + waffel which I loved it. It was my second visit to The King Eddy and ordered foot long hot dog and morning glory(as in the uploaded pics) along with cappachino coffee. Loved it again...!!! I will have more visits in future!!!😊

We came here for brunch. I called ahead since we had some luggage with us and they sat us immediately at the bar and put our stuff against a wall. This is on a Sunday morning for brunch at about 11 am or so with a line of about 5 parties ahead of us The wait staff is fun and personable. They are helpful making recommendations and always got us what we needed as we went thru the meal. I tried the eddy breakfast and my mom got the omlette. All really well prepared and very delicious. We did find the potatoes a little dry but no biggie. They have a large number of tables both outside and in so they do take a good number of walk Ins. It reminded me a little of a 70s malt milkshake space :) I loved the mint chairs and pink accents.

Really enjoyed the food here and the vibes. Their burgers are so delicious too! We ordered the chicken club sandwich with a poutine and it was sooo delicious 😋

Great food, great portions at affordable prices, topped off with super friendly staff. We had deep fried pickles which was a very decent portion and were very good; I had a Cure Burger which was also good, and my girlfriend had a grilled cheese with a side Tomato soup which was downright excellent. I had a beer on top of the food for a total of $56 before tax. Very reasonable considering how good the food was! I made the mistake of challenging the waitress on the pint that was served in a pop can-shaped glass. She took the time to get me a pint glass and pour the content of the pop-can glass into it, and yeah, that was a pint [insert apologies here]. So no need to make a fool of yourselves, I did it for you. You're welcome.

Very cute restaurant and the food was pretty good. Cobb salad was different but tasty and poutine was good too. I was a bit disappointed in the service. We were seated quickly which was nice but it took a long time for someone to come see us to take our order and took a while for the food to arrive to our table. For a Tuesday afternoon it was a long wait. Servers were nice and polite. Definitely a place for a meal while downtown.

Ordered pick up. Food was tasty but chicken was not three pieces on the bone. One was a weird little nub of breast meat. Not good value for $25. Had I been in restaurant I would have asked for replacement. Maybe if I had been in restaurant they wouldn’t have served that…

Great atmosphere and our server was friendly. The service was timely. I ordered the Eddy’s Fire Hot Chicken Sandwich and boy was it spicy! I underestimated the spiciness. If you like spice definitely give it a try. The fries were delicious as well.

Great breakfast. Sour cream pancakes were very good. Shared them and an egg with my son. Hubs got eggs bennie with smoked salmon and was very good. No kids menu which I wish there was.... why not ? Nice outdoor seating area which was great while the day was still cool. The inside though - is amazing! Beautiful set up and decor. Would love to go back and eat at the old style diner bar.

I have had good burgers in my life, and this one is among the top 5. My wife had the chicken burger and she raved about it. And the fries... oh my... Great service as well, which makes the whole experience that much better. We'll be back for sure!!

Husband and I had breakfast at King Eddy on a rainy Sunday morning. Although the place seemed packed to us, we heard the owner (we think he was the owner) say it was a slow morning. I guess we got lucky not to have to wait for a table! Service was excellent, the staff super attentive, nice, helpful and all with a smile. The food was simply amazing! We both had the King Eddy breakfast with bacon and rye bread, but my eggs were poached and my husband’s were scrambled. The eggs were perfect, not too cooked, not too runny. The bacon was crisp without being dry and the breakfast potatoes simply melted in your mouth. These were NOT McCain tater tots. These were home made, cooked from scratched, seasoned to perfection breakfast potatoes. Pretty much the best I had in years! I highly recommend King Eddy for all this plus the prices are super reasonable, especially for the quality of the food and the service. Next time we are in town, we’ll come back for sure!

Everything we tried on the menu so far have been really good. New to go spot for brunch. The place is always busy, lots of choices and flexible with side options.

  • 5/5 Zack B. 1 year ago on Google
A solid meal in the market. Really good poutine gravy, thought the fries didn’t have much crisp to them. The fried chicken was done perfectly and seasoned well. A good waffle too. I’m told the burger was absolutely excellent.

  • 5/5 JonInfect 1 year ago on Google
Ordered the King Eddy burger, the club, onion rings, chicken fingers and poutine... everything was DELICIOUS! I think the club would be easier to eat if the chopped up the chicken though. The poutine was a pinch salty BUT that's how I like it. I would recommend but definitely go eat at the restaurant.
