We had buffet dinner at this restaurant.Very unique, classy, traditional architectural dine in area. Positive atmosphere inside, very friendly staff. Food is just okay and a little expensive for their standards.Their staff and ambiance are their strength and cause of my 4-star

We went for the buffet. The server was a nice man. He checked in on us often and cleared the dishes promptly. As for the food at the buffet, it's a good option for anyone who loves to eat a lot. Quantity wise they hit the mark. The quality however isn't the best. The food lacked the heat that Indian food generally has. The samosas seemed like they were old and fried twice and the filling was over salted. The naan bread was nice but has to be ordered separately. 3 naans cost a little over 7 bucks. The desserts were ok. The gulab jamun was good but everything else was just alright. I don't think we will be going back only because we realize the food will always be the same in terms of quality for a buffet.

One of the best place to have Indian food in downtown. Nice option for vegetarian people. Food is really good and ambience is really nice. Buffet option is worth try and it's available in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. All the items in buffet are tasty specially Gulab jamun.

If you’re a fan of Indian food and if you love buffets then East India Company Pub & Eatery restaurant must be your first choice. I can’t think of any other place to celebrate my friend’s birthdays! No matter the occasion, if you want some good food and enjoy some cozy ambience with your loved ones then you gotta check out this place! I swear that you won’t be disappointed! If you are planning to go there for the first time, my suggestion for you would be to try a little of everything and then go after your favourites for the second time! Don’t forget to leave room for desserts. Mango mousse & Gulab Jamun are strongly recommended! Enjoy 🤤

It’s worth to take the buffet options… foods are delicious. It’s expensive for sure, but once in a while it’s worth going. Lots of options, food quality is very good. If you don’t want buffet then the a la carte options are very good as well.

I liked the sitting area and a some antique indian decore. They had buffet option as well, it was $23 per person. I felt price of dishes were a bit on higher side but good quantity, you will get papad as a compliment. Along with Paneer mughlai we got rice as a compliment. You will find a perfect Indian vibes in here. Halal non-veg was available that's a plus point for me :) just ask them to bring Naan along with dish because they serve Naan first and had to wait for vegetables to come till then Naan was cold. I must recommend to go and taste different dishes here.

The restaurant looks very nice with all the decor. The service was great, I didn't get the name of our server, but he checked up on us a lot and made sure we were comfortable and happy. Food was pretty good aswell if you pick the right stuff, some pieces of meat/lamb/chicken would be very nice and tendor while others kind of dry but that all comes down to your own skill at choosing. Price is honestly not bad for an all you can eat, compared to the all you can eat sushi places in Ottawa currently or Mandarin, this is a pretty good price point.

Not the best not the worst! Somewhere in the middle. We tried the buffet, I won’t say everything was good but some were really good! Lacks a bit of spice for my indian taste but I get it, its for the people here.. nevertheless really good options, a lot of choices, amazing service and good ambience. The dessert options were too good and tasted delicious!! Will I go here again? Yes! Do try it once if you are thinking about it.

Honestly… if you loved them when you were dining in, you may hate them if you do takeout. I’m telling you right now, it’s no good! We actually have to drop the food off into a local garbage can due to it being criminally bad! I kept the lamb byriani but then just now found a random shrimp in it. What on earth? That could kill a person with an allergy. Anyway, the only reason we got Indian from here is because the place across the street (Mehfil), was closed due to COVID issues. We have learned our lesson.

That is Meal for one (non-veg). The portion-wise, it is good. But the spices were too much for me. It is subjective so might like it though!

I along with 3 of my friends went to have dinner on a Tuesday night! Detailed feedback: Ambience: 8/10 Variety of food: 8.5/10 Starters: 7/10 Main Course: 6.5/10 Desserts: 8.5/10 We went here for the second time. Food on weekends is good but seems like some dishes on weekdays could be stale.

We liked the place and the decoration. It was beautiful! We had a lot of experience with Indian foods before, but this one wasn’t the best. The food quality was normal, they kind of adjusted the food to be more Canadian type. However, we expected more traditional Indian foods besides these adjusted ones. The dessert part was not good. They didn’t have a lot of options. However, the Gulab Jamun was our most favourite one!

They know how to make Indian food. If the samosas in India are this good... I’m moving. Great service. I ate the butter chicken cold and it was so good. Imagine if it was still warm!?! 10/5 stars

I was visiting Ottawa from outside the province, and I stopped to try the buffet. When I entered at 2 pm, the place was empty without anybody. After looking for some time, an emplyee came from the back and told me that they're open. As I was about to ask her about the buffet, she told me right away that they didn't have naan bread. And then she asked me to pay for the buffet before I even see it or sit, and I did while in shock. The food was very good. But the atmosphere was weird and uncomfortable, so I ate quickly and left.

We went for lunch and ate at the buffet. They have an a la carte menu available as well. The buffet area itself was clean and everything seemed fresh. The food was absolutely delicious! I can’t rave enough about it. Everything was seasoned so well and there wasn’t a single item i chose that i didn’t like. The vegetarian kormas were my personal favourites. They have a pretty extensive drink menu as well. Taj (i believe was his name), our server, was very friendly and attentive as well. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious indian food!

I went on a Wednesday afternoon for a team lunch. Food was very good. They had a salad spread, desert spread, quick bites and an array of rice and sides both veg and non-veg. Breads and wine are not part of the package. Price was really good for the variety and quality of food we got. The team enjoyed the spread! Unfortunately no pics were taken. Hope this helps!

We've been ordering fantastic take-out from them during the pandemic to satisfy our cravings, but we recently enjoyed a long-anticipated family reunion meal at East India Company. A big table was organized for us on their great terrace and it was perfect for our group. The restaurant has food that appeals to both adventurous and picky eaters, young and old. Some preferred to order a la carte, others were happy to partake in the wonderful buffet. All the food was absolutely delicious, the service was excellent and the measures in place made us feel well cared for.

Lovely ambience - variety in display statues decors etc. Must explore Buffet - wide range of choices in both veg and non-veg and sweetsssss. Quantity matches the price. Food is delicious. Friendly staff. Has patio. Only one issue drinking water smelled like fish water.

So glad our pizza plan fell through because we just had the most delightful experience with Indian take out at East India Company! Right from packaging (Thank you for the kind note) to the dessert, everything was on point! Portions were great, food was flavourful! The Naan was massive (exactly like India) and looked like it was prepared in a tandoor. Thank you for this food and keep up your hard work and standards! Very impressive! 🥳

  • 5/5 Gfol70 2 years ago on Google
We have been getting the East India Company’s takeout for months now - we also enjoyed the in-restaurant dining before Covid. The food is absolutely fantastic and the service is always great. Really can’t go wrong with this place. I look forward one day to sitting out on the patio surrounded by palm trees and tiki lights w the sounds of relaxing Raga playing and comforted by the exotic aromas of curry and Chai. That would be great.

I have been eating at East India Company since high school - the food is consistently amazing. The buffet always has something new as well as all of the classic items! The service is always great - highly recommended.

Our meal was delivered promptly, but that was about the best we could say of the entire experience. There were generous quantities of food but the appetizers and accompaniments were all dry, flavourless or both. The Butter Chicken was quite nice and the rice without fault., but an Indian meal should offer a pleasing variety of flavours, spices and textures, which they did not, so in sum the spread was costly and very disappointing.

  • 5/5 ALWYN CHRISTIAN J. 5 months ago on Google
One of the best buffet places in Ottawa. Staffs are very friendly and u get the best butter chicken and Tandoor Chicken in town.

  • 5/5 Brian O. 10 months ago on Google
Ordered non-veg meal for one (butter chicken), samosas and naan. Everything was amazing. I ordered 2 orders of naan not knowing how big they were. One order would have been plenty. Excellent flavour.

  • 5/5 Ahmad L. 2 years ago on Google
A wide selection of dishes that are clearly freshly prepared- not an easy task for a buffet. Ate here several times and was always impressed by the variety of dishes on offer, different styles of cuisine, and the relaxed dining room. Top marks for authenticity and chefs’ creativity. Every time I have been, I am reminded of my travel in India. Can’t recommend it enough.

We opted for a Lunch buffet which cost us around $23 (including taxes). All of the items were pretty decent, no complaints at all. Stars of the show were Tandoori Chicken, Veggie Korma, Lamb Curry and Chana masala. I really wished they put a biriyani as well removing the plain basmati. Also if the butter chicken gravy was thickened a bit, it would be a hit. The vegetarian options were pretty high but instead of 2 items they could put another non-veg kabab. The desserts were amazing for sure. Do try the Gulab Jamun. All in all it's a decent deal for the money. Might visit again!

  • 5/5 Caroline M. 4 months ago on Google
We went for the lunch buffet which was very fairly priced. Fantastic food selection, many vegetarian options. We ordered garlic Naan and it paired delishiously with the sauces from the buffet. The Korma especially was a hit for me. We did some back and fourth from our seats to the buffet a few times, the beautiful decor up front did interfere a little bit when we walked around with full plates. It wasn't at all busy, but I imagine if the place was full, anyone a little clumsy could spill around that tight spot. Overall a very good place and will be visiting again for that amazing vegetable Korma!

(Translated by Google) Very good restaurant. The food is amazing and the service is always impeccable. I don't know how, but they managed to make their take out as good as in a restaurant. I've been ordering from here almost every weekend for the past two months because it's so good.

Amazing buffet with so many options. The waiting staff is very polite and helpful! They serve lots of water hahah It’s honestly a great deal for the price point! The desserts are also nice!

Had lunch buffet and it was kind of average. Chicken dishes whether it is butter or normal chicken curry tastes not very different for some reason except butter one was little creamy. Veg dishes were also very avg. in taste. Probably won’t recommend to visit more than once. Service and hospitality was great though and deserves an extra star for that.

Its a good buffet restaurant for Indian food in Ottawa. I went for lunch, buffet spreads are limited but tastes really good. I really enjoyed my time there. Service was really nice. Kudos to the waiters and people managing the dine in area. Also they serve plain and masala dosa as part of the buffet, which is very nice. Loved my visit there. Would go again for sure. Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for nice Indian buffet in Ottawa

Good hospitality. Food was not authentic Indian at all. Butter garlic naan was extremely thick and fluffy. Butter chicken was bitter and smelly. Chicken was not fully cooked. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Disappointing experience

Paneer makhani, Bhurta Amritsari & railway mutton curry were really good. The navratan wasn’t my favourite (too sweet for me & not spicy). Parantha could’ve used more layers. Would definitely order from here again!! :)

My wife and have try to support local restaurants by ordering take out, but the last 2 were very disappointing. Yesterday we tried the East India Company on Robertson rd. and were treated to an excellent meal. The curried lamb was killer and my wife loved the butter chicken. The only complaint and it's not a biggie was the naan was a bit doughy, other than that everything was spot on. Highly recommend this restaurant not only for the quality of the food but the reasonable prices. Well done.

  • 5/5 Avery B. 3 years ago on Google
Hands down the best restaurant I've ever been to. Not only is the food the greatest thing that's ever graced my taste buds, but the service is unlike anything I've ever experienced I truly feel as though I'm at a family dinner every time I dine here. Would highly recommend. If you haven't eaten here you don't know what flavour is.

The East India Company is our go to for Indian in Ottawa. Everyone loves the selection. 9 yo says “it’s so good, I couldn’t stop eating it”! Staff is friendly and take out orders are always fresh and ready on time. Thanks for another delicious meal!!

We just ordered delivery from here (Railway Mutton Currie) and the food is delicious!!! They included a lovely hand-written note, and seem very caring about what they do. What a wonderful family-owned business. Will definitely be ordering from here again! 10/10

Like many folks during lockdown I've wanted to support restaurants during such a precarious time and have ordered take out from a few places but East India Company is by far my most favorite. The food is always prepared so well and the flavors are comforting and authentic. Best samosas in the city and a great vegetarian selection of main dishes. I highly recommend if you are looking for beautifully prepared Indian food in Ottawa.

Have been to this place quite a few times, never wrote a review though. So decided to write one since this is first dine-in experience in several months due to the COVID regulations.First thing you would notice is the ambiance of the place, which is in my experience the best among most of the Indian restaurants that I have visited.I usually prefer to have a buffet meal.Looks like they don’t have that option now.Tried the New-Delhi thali instead. It was good as expected. Thanks to the person(don’t remember the name) who took special attention in serving us.Would definitely visit again.

  • 5/5 Walt H. 3 years ago on Google
Highly recommended! Food was delicious, not too spicy and the quality was excellent. Take out service was efficient, safe and friendly. If you are worried about Covid then try take out from here. You won't be disappointed.

  • 5/5 Kapil D. 3 years ago on Google
One of best ambiance I have seen for an Indian restaurant. The food is delicious without a doubt, it is freshly prepared and even the variety is nice. The price is for sure on the higher side and it is an expensive place. But for me I can say that the taste of the food covers for it.

  • 5/5 Hemant S. 3 years ago on Google
Probably, one of the tastiest East Indian cuisine food we had during Canadian coast to coast trip in November. The ambience and décor of the restaurant was very, very ethnic and the service was attentive and accommodating. The turnaround time from ordering to food coming to the table was reasonably quick and we found the serve sizes one of the biggest during the trip.

  • 5/5 Kathleen E. 3 years ago on Google
Picked up an order to take home, and it was fabulous. We need to keep supporting our favourite restaurants in these difficult times.

  • 5/5 Slava K. 3 years ago on Google
Very pricey, but also very good. Caveat: It doesn't taste like "authentic Indian" at all. It tastes closer to European dishes prepared in an Indian style (or the other way around). By no means does it mean that it's not good -- it's GREAT! But just keep in mind, that if you're an Indian lover, you might not love this as much. Conversely, if you're not experienced with Indian cuisine, this could be a great start.

Visited this place yesterday after long time (almost a year and half). We always went for their buffet but due to current situation they are not offering buffet so we ordered Mumbai Thali and New Delhi Thali. I must say the food did not taste the same before. Little disappointed.

We ordered take out for dinner and it was amazing & delicious! Butter chicken, vegetable korma, samosas and naan (the meals we got came with rice as well) and everything was fresh, flavourful and so good. They also added dessert as well as a hand written thank you note. Definitely recommend and can't wait to order again!
