Great place for BBQ smoked meats! Cozy and went early so wasn't very busy. Had the sharing platter - Kentucky Derby platter which has a mixture of ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, southern fried chicken and smoked chicken and choice of two sides. We had the maple pecan sweet potato mash, fries and ordered an extra side of mac n cheese and comes with corn bread, so don't order that as one of your sides. Food was delicious! They make their own homemade BBQ sauce and mustard which are very tasty. Extensive drinks and cocktails menu, they have a maple bacon whiskey which we didn't try.... We wanted to see the dessert menu, but all they had on offer was deep-fried Oreos which we gave a skip. Could do with some Texas style desserts. They do give you a load of lollipops with the bill which was a nice treat! Overall great food and nice atmosphere, service was pretty good. We will go back!

I got to say when I looked it up online I thought it was a chain. Absolutely not! The minute we walked in the hickory smoke made my mouth water. The owner seated us and was great. The server CiCi was outstanding, friendly and took great care of us. Did the tour and checked out the smoker. Food was amazing, I will be back next time I'm in town!

My wife, daughter and I spent a delightful New Years Eve at this restaurant. On arrival the owner Shawn assisted us in securing a parking spot outside the restaurant. Despite bad weather that evening we were treated to a wonderful 2 person mixed grill recommended by the House. Each of the 5 different meats were perfectly cooked and the chosen 3 sides delightful. This included the best fried (boneless) and crispy chicken I can recall ever having. Our 11 year old daughter enjoyed what she considered to be her favorite mac & cheese to date. After our dinner Shawn gave us a tour of the establishment which included a stage where live bands would play behind an innocent looking Coke machine door, a huge smoker inside the restaurant, and several smaller ones. We also learnt that he is a modest but truly accomplished mountain climber involving remarkable achievements. Being the last customers for 2022, the staff were all very polite and accommodating. Overall, a truly enjoyable way to end the year and our visit to Ottawa.

The 1lb wings were amazing, they had a lot of meat on them. The side sauce was 10/10 and complimented well with sweet potato fries and wings.

Immediately walking in, the host was incredibly nice, informative, showed us to our table with a smile. Sitting down our table was greeted by the friendliest, nicest, most energetic waitress I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Her name is Jessica Jones, ask for her if you can. The whole dinner, she was checking on the table, giving us good recommendations, and overall being an awesome server. The owner himself came over to the table because of our waitress to just introduce himself, and he was incredibly friendly as well. Simply, the service was beyond anything any of us were expecting. 10/10 experience, will come again.

I recently dined at Fatboys Southern Smokehouse restaurant and was blown away by the delicious all-you-can-eat ribs and the friendly service. The restaurant itself is cozy and inviting, with a laid-back atmosphere. The ribs were cooked to perfection and were fall-off-the-bone tender. The side dishes were also tasty, with a wide variety of southern-style sides to choose from. The staff were friendly and attentive, constantly refilling our drinks and making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Fatboys Southern Smokehouse and would highly recommend it to others.

If you are looking for some awesome smokehouse food, no need to look anywhere else. Kentucky platter is a great selection for two. Fried chicken, pulled chicken and pulled pork, ribs and the brisket were all outstanding and finger licking! Also have a good selection of brews on tap.

5 stars. I found this restaurant off a review on TikTok, and it did not disappoint. The service was outstanding, our waiter was extremely friendly and even the owner came to our table for a quick chat to ensure everything was great. Service 10/10. The food was just amazing, we ordered the plate that had all the different meats (picture below) in order to decide which main dish we should commit to. That was a great option on the menu. However the real star of the show, is the WINGS. They have the best wings in town. They are cooked to perfection in a very specific way that is special to this restaurant. I will definitely be going a lot more often :) Recommendation: Wings to start followed by Chophouse Melt (Chopped bbq beef brisket sandwich)

Service was good. Meat was a more cool than warm. Chicken fingers were awesome. Got the 2 person taste meal. Was more of a add your seasoning meal rather than eat the meal as it is. Since it was smoked well but not really much taste unless you added sauce.

Best fried chicken I have ever had. Also love their ribs, brisket, corn bread and mac cheese. Went for a celebratory dinner and totally amazed by the quality of food. Would go again.

My review is for the take out experience during COVID— but would love to dine in soon though! It was my first time trying Fatboys, the staff was very friendly and prompt when we placed our order at the bar, think her name was Debbie... she made sure we had extra sauces! We ordered the 1/4 rib & fried chicken combo with an extra side of fried corn. Everything from chicken, corn, cornbread, and coleslaw were all delicious *except* the ribs. You can see we got a pretty sad looking piece that we couldn’t really eat as it was over cooked, burnt and mostly fatty. I was disappointed as being a new resident to the Ottawa area this place had great reviews and for a smokehouse I’d expected higher quality ribs! Hopefully my next visit will be better, where the ribs are not as dry/burnt!

Post restrictions update: met the owner, Shawn, who is passionate (and awesome) about his place. New addition; a speakeasy area dedicated for private events. Great idea, and creates a better atmosphere for regular patrons. Shawn gave us a mini tour and a treat at the end, for a memorable experience. Good place for BBQ in the area. Beef brisket: consistently good and would recommend it over the rest of the items. Baked beans: a solid choice as well, has bits of brisket mixed in. Corn bread: a nice crust and soft/sweet in the middle, addictive. Mac and cheese: creamy, though might be just “cheese sauce”. Ribs: dry rub and is good, though no baby back option. Fries: decent. Chicken: appears on the dry side. Thursday all you can eat ribs is a great value.

Service was super friendly and food was great! Just a little disappointed about the Carolina pulled pork -- needs to be more vinegary! Overall I was pretty satisfied. Would be great if they added some other Carolina BBQ staples like banana pudding or hush puppies!

Great Barbeque, had the sharing plate for 2, came with all their meats, pulled pork, pulled chicken, fried chicken, brisket, ribs, two sides and two corn breads. You can't go wrong. There BBQ sauces (mild and spicy) were alright but the mustard one was the great one, even if you don't like mustard you will like this one. However, the sauce to beat was the Alabama Sauce (white sauce), pro tip ask your waiter for more!

This place was on my to-do list for a while and today I finally managed to give it a try. I ordered the Kentucky derby platter. What I love the most is the fried chicken and the dipping sauce. The chicken's super juicy and tender. The ribs are great and tender too. However, a big disappointment is the beef brisket, which is somehow a bit dry.... it's also why I cannot give this place a 10/10. Overall my rating is 8/10. (Or 4/5). I highly recommend the ribs, the fried chicken and the dipping sauce.

Good service and friendly staff. The food tastes really good however the portions are really skimpy. Southern BBQ always has generous portions of meat and sides. For $25 you should get a bit more than a few small cuts of brisket!

Got the Kentucky derby platter, all the meat had a really nice smoke flavour, but the bbq chicken and brisket were pretty dry. The pulled pork and fried chicken were very good, loved the seasoning on the fried chicken. The ribs are 10/10, probably the best meat on the menu, would probably just order ribs going forward. I got the beans and mac n cheese sides, tbh the mac n cheese was not good...lacked season and tasted bland. Overall the food was decent, really hit the BBQ craving, but I think I will just stick to ribs the next time I go.

We had a nice meal in a cold Friday night at Fatboys. Atmosphere is great 👍🏽 We had the Kentucky Derby sharing platter which is laden with ribs, chicken, brisket, pulled pork cornbread and 2 sides. More than enough for 2 people, and you can get a taste of everything! Their homemade sauce Hillbilly heat goes well with the ribs. The whole place even the washrooms are decorated in the western theme. Worth a visit.

Amazing pulled pork.. succulent and full of flavor! Great sides.. we tried the fried corn on the cob.. very tasty! Will definitely make a regular place to dine! Love the water faucets in the bathrooms! Mini.motorcycle! The entire restaurant is very clean and inviting. Also they have a very cheerful, knowledgeable staff! Great find!

Best authentic American style barbecue in Canada. Service was spot on, with a very attentive staff. The ambiance was typical roadhouse, with memorabilia ranging from motorcycles to southern charms. The food is the highlight of the place. Slow cooked options, from the All you can eat ribs, to the Kentucky Derby platter, everything looked, smelled, and tasted delicious. They even have some vegetarian options, including a smoked tofu that looked like a real bbq plate. The location is convenient and provides both indoor and outdoor seating. A private room, with a speakeasy theme is an awesome option for a group event. The owner, Shawn, took the time to stop at each table to check in, and was very interested in feedback. Next time on Ottawa, make this a destination.

I love a good southern BBQ place, and this place fits the bill. I've definitely had some great Southern BBQ in the US, and while I don't think Fatboys could compare with some of those places, they're easily the best southern BBQ place in Ottawa. Would highly recommend. My favorites are the ribs & fried chicken, and they do a good cornbread if you're into that. Only complaint is I wish they delivered.

Went there for the all you can eat ribs. Very tender, great texture. They have 3 sauces you can use, and I loved the Tennessee sweet sauce on the ribs. The all you can eat ribs includes mac n cheese and fries. I also had the vanilla milkshake, divine, and my partner had the root beer, which ended up being Dads old fashioned, one of my favourite brands. The service was incredible and super friendly. Would definitely go again and I heartily recommend it.

Good BBQ is hard to come by in Canada, fatboys was a welcome surprise. Their beef brisket is excellent as was their ribs, chicken and well... pretty much everything. Best to order a platter as those have the most value! Place was clean and service wad quick 5 stars.

Amazing place with great staff. Friend told me to visit this place while in Ottawa. Amazing ribs comparable to state of Kentucky which is not easy to pull off as they are one of the top state in the USA for ribs. I also love that you can choose which sauce you want as they have three different bottles at the table.

We were wondering about bringing our kids to this restaurant at first due to its biker bar styled appearance ...but we are glad we did! The staff there made the kids feel special and gave us some great recommendations for dinner. I usually come to smokehouses for the brisket but the chicken was the real home run here! Their house BBQ sauce made it that much better. We will be back!

Someone suggested for me to go there. The servers were unbelievably welcoming. And the food came so fast. I tried the brisket with Mac and cheese. That meat was the most juiciest thing I've eaten in a while. Loved it. I would go back again and try other stuff.

Shawn and his team recently catered our event for 40 people. WOW!!!! Amazing service from start to finish. Shawn had wonderful ideas on presentation, and you could tell the passion he has for his food while speaking with him. Day of, everything arrived, well packed, labeled, and the perfect temperature. The food was on point. The BBQ was amazing. The sauces were fantastic. GO to this place to eat!!!!

I came to Fatboys for dinner with my dad yesterday evening and we were both absolutely blown away by the food. It was absolutely delicious. The service though was on a whole other level. Our server was extremely polite and attentive, yet not too invasive, which is exactly what I like. I also have to mention that the service is REALLY FAST. We were in and out in less than 40 minutes, on a beautiful Friday evening. My only little disappointment was that my delicious vanilla milkshake was served in a disposable plastic cup instead of a reusable cup, despite the fact that we ate in. Overall, fantastic experience. I will be returning!

Delicious is absolutely an understatement about the food here, but that’s just a small part of the entire picture, the second you walk in your greeted with amazing service from the host, and then you sit down and it’s like WOW! My husband and I were looking for great BBQ and it did not disappoint! We got The Kentucky Derby to split-2 orders of ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The ribs were delicious and had the right amount of smoke. I was surprised how good the fried chicken was. The breading was crispy and the chicken was moist on the inside. The seasoning was also on point. The pulled pork and brisket were also good too. We had the Mac and cheese and tomato cucumber salad as sides. Both were pretty good. The sauces were flavorful and went perfectly with the bbq. We especially liked the hot bbq sauce and mustard. I was also really happy with how fast they were for takeout and the tray they used. It was a catering to go container that kept everything hot. It was really solid BBQ and we would definitely come back!

Looking for a taste of smoked BBQ and went to fatboys. They have about 12 delicious sides to pair with your dinner. I went with beef brisket and chicken tacos with a bacon Mac N cheese. Was very good and not my first time. I heard about a secret room but "shhh".

Went to here last night at 9 PM. Received the friendly greeting when we walked in. I had the ribs and chicken and my wife had the tacos; Both were good. It’s the Covid protocols that tripped me; the waitress that greeted us was dealing with two sets of customers I think she knew but wasn’t sure. In both cases there was a lot of hugging going on. In the first instance with a group of men that had just left her table of which nobody was wearing masks and in the second instance with a female customer at a table Who grabbed the waitress by the waist and pulled her towards her. Under normal circumstances I would consider this waitress very friendly but under the present Covid circumstances I would say lacking foresight. My point here is that the general public is observing behavior all the time and getting a perception of how things are being run as businesses. The general public then go and talk about those experiences with their friends and it has an impact on the restaurant itself and trickles into the industry as a whole. The restaurant industry at present is suffering way too much for this kind of behavior to be going on. On another occasion with this restaurant I believe we were greeted by an owner or manager Who took the time to show us the Covid safety protocols that were being adhered to in detail and made us feel very comfortable. Whoever it was that time definitely showed us that they cared about this place. Owners have far too much invested and staff must realize that they are ambassadors in the absence of higher management or owners and must show good stewardship and professionalism in those instances, It can’t be “the cats away so the mice will play.” We then observed one of the cook come out of the back and come to the front of the bar near the patio we are a few people were congregating around the cash register not wearing a mask. I know it’s a drag guys but it’s attention to details around this Covid situation that will keep the public coming back. I don’t know if the staff here is aware that there’s a temporary mandatory mask by law that deals with common area enclosed spaces as well as unenclosed public spaces, minimize unnecessary contact between customers and staff, minimize the time staff spend within two metres. On a positive note my server was great by keeping his distance although I have to say I’ve been in other restaurants were servers are wearing face shields and even though this doesn’t necessarily have a full proof approach it helps a little but helps greater still in the area of public perception. Amazing lunch at Fatboys! My boyfriend and I shared the dish "The Hungry Man" as we were not that hungry. We chose the Memphis Ribs, Carolina Pulled Pork and Texan Beef Brisket, and for side the smoked bacon mac' n cheese. It was our first time trying southern barbecue and I can't wait to eat it again! Everything was delicious, the meats were all very flavorful! The side and their cornbread were amazing as well. Their barbecue sauces are divine!

Would return. If outdoor patios are the only way to eat out, then make this BBQ joint one on your list. All 4 of their meats (brisket, pulled pork, ribs and chicken) were succulent and flavourful. Their in-house bbq sauces have nice kicks to them, and each of them offer a different profile to your meats. The mixed tray comes with all 4 key meats as well as fried chicken and two sides. Extremely good value.

Food here was super delicious. Even the Caesar Salad was packed with flavour. I don't like cornbread, but the cornbread here was delicious. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Ottawa!

I had the biggest craving for traditional southern style BBQ for a while and I found out that I could satisfy my urges just across the bridge from Gatineau to Ottawa. Fatboys blew my expectations with the quality of the food and overall experience even if it was take Out order, I was greeted and had a little fun chat with the lady in charge. I ordered the Derby Sampler and some extra sides. Everything was beyond tender, juicy and delicious. I had everything shared between 3 adults and it was more than sufficient we could've been 4 and it would've been enough! For about 25$ per person, I'd say it's a very fair price for the quality of the food alone! Thank you Fatboys! I will be back and bringing friends! :)

Great food with a wonderful atmosphere. My wife and I shared the Famous Kentucky Derby and there was lots of delicious meats from ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken and fried chicken. Make sure you come hungry for this platter.

We headed to Byward market for dinner and came across this place. My wife who is vegan said this was her best meal on our week long roadtrip to Ottawa from Toronto. By far the best ribs and fried chicken I have had. Delicious, smoked and tender. No kids menu but the sides are perfect portions for them and come cheap and delicious at $4. Service and greetings were 5+ stars. A truly great environment for families, friends, date night and to have a good time. Felt like I was in the deep south type environment. Took home some homemade BBQ sauce too.

Had dinner tonight here with my family and it was a great experience. We are a family of four and we had the Kentucky Derby meat platter. It was plenty of food and all very delicious. My kids are super picky and loved the meats. To top off the great food, we were welcomed by our server Michelle and owner Shawn like we were regulars. It was our first time but won't be our last. This will be a must stop when we visit Ottawa next time. Highly recommended.

We had Fatboys cater an outdoor Bachelor party. I can't say enough good things about the food - we had the ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket - it was all fantastic. Shawn was a pleasure to deal with and dropped the food off personally. I highly recommend Fatboys if you ever need any delicious BBQ meats catered for an event or anything else!

Was visitng Ottawa and planning on meeting friends for supper. Randomly picked Fatboys for the Thursday night visit. Boy did I make a good call. Even with Covid restrictions, the staff were very friendly, the restaurant was spotless as was the patio where we sat and the service was top notch all evening. As it happens, the Thursday was all you could eat ribs and man, were they good. For 25 bucks they start you with a half rack of really meaty and large side ribs, an order of fries and a good portion of mac n cheese and they just keep bringing 1/4 racks as often as you want them. I had 2 full racks and they were meaty, perfectly smoked and sauced and very juicy and tender. Truly excellent ribs. Everyone else really enjoyed their food as well. Definintely a place I'll visit again next time I'm in Ottawa!
