I chose Gezellig to celebrate my husband’s birthday with friends and it was great. I made a reservation in advance and they let me know about gratuity charge for big parties and additional charge because I brought the cake. The service was thoughtful and efficient, great ambiance and good food. We had a blast !

Gezellig is a great location for brunch. Nice location with plenty natural light, minimalist decor, buzzing ambiance and delicious food. • The brunch menu offers smaller plates allowing us to sample more than one in a single sitting. Great concept! • I ordered a savory plate first (breakfast sandwich) which was tasty. The biscuit as buttery and satisfying while the second plate satisfied my sweet tooth (banana bread French toast). • Overall great brunch experience, we will certainly be back.

I had brunch here for the first time, and I really enjoyed it! The interior is elegant, minimal, and clean. The staff is extremely friendly and the service was very fast. COVID-19 measures were followed very well. The food was great, and I really like the 2 plates for $25 brunch deal. I will definitely come back here!

To say the staff at Gezellig’s set the new bar in terms of customer service in fine dining would be the understatement of the year. From the incredibly courteous young ladies who greeted us at the door to being seated, to having our food and drinks served with a smile and graciousness made our first anniversary together the most memorable night of this entire year. The food was incredible with the lamb and pork belly served with the carrot salad falling apart in your mouth like butter. The lamb was also a sharp contrast to my choice of the salmon which had the acidity of the lemon paired with a perfectly crisped, flakey salmon that held up to the other flavours on the plate. A special mention to our server James who went above and beyond in every way to make the night memorable. He brought easy conversation, amazing recommendations and insight into the wine pairings with the meals with a relaxed approach that never made you feel rushed. Thank you all again.

The food, the wine and the service were all incredible! My family loved their meals, particularly the duck Margaret! Would definitely recommend if you want to go out for a delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere.

Went there for supper. Had a great experience from start to finish. The dishes taste were eclectic yet balanced. Ambiance was great. Also have to mention the fact that they are all working as a team there for serving customers. Small things like being refilled my water glass like 10 times without having to ask. Very proactive!

Delicious brunch! You can order 2 small plates, so it's good to try two flavors! My friend and I ordered mussels & fries, risotto, fish cake, and hamburgers. The staff was friendly, food was delicious, and I wish there were some side veggies on each menu, but you can order the salad separately.

Wonderful spot - food was great, and so was the service! What was especially thoughtful was how they served individually portioned plates for the dishes they knew we would be sharing - very appreciated. Our top dishes were the gnudi and risotto. Also, the butterfinger dessert is to die for, worth coming again even if for only this dessert! 😋

Went for lunch on a weekday. The atmosphere is open and European modern. The lunch service is a choice of two small plates. The food was delicious and I especially enjoyed the mushroom soup. The service was quick and friendly. There is a free coat check. The dessert and wine was also delicious.

Lovely atmosphere and fantastic staff. The gnocchi my wife ordered were superb, we have never had such fluffy light gnocchi anywhere. It was definitely the best place we've had it and my wife loved it (I recommend ordering this so much). I ordered the steak which was well seasoned and portioned but it was a little tough and cooked slightly more than I would have liked. I asked for medium rare more on the rare side but it seemed more on the medium side. I know it's hard to get it right as everyone likes their steak slightly differently (and everyone seems to measure the rarity differently too). It was still tasty and overall the experience was great!

They have a weather-proof patio! 2 large event tents. Saved us from the rain. Amazing food, with moderate portion sizes (just right) at a standard high-end price (about $30 per entrée) Unique experience with attentive service. Relaxed atmosphere with a certain saveur gastronomique

Took myself out for dinner :) Was lucky to have Jake as a bartender and server. Amazing food and for sure - one of the best deserts I have ever had. This does not negate the rest of the meal, everything was delicious. Merci! :)

It was simply perfect! The eggs Benedict were great, full of flavour and as I'm a huge lover of them I would really suggest the mushrooms on toast and the french toast. Both were out of this world! We came for brunch on a Saturday and unfortunately couldn't come back for a dinner. Hope we can do that the next time visiting Ottawa. But besides the perfect food also the place is gorgeous and the service so lovely!

Amazing place and ambience. Went there almost a month ago and was seated immediately. The dessert recommendations were fantastic and the servers were extremely nice. The steak I ordered was so savory and worth the wait to taste the quality. The fries were homemade and just right.I would definitely visit this gem once I am in town once again.

A great venue for casual fine dining in a fun area. The food was good but quite expensive and could use a few tweaks. The lamb was beautifully cooked but the curry could be improved. The appetizers were great and we had no complaints. One of the desserts we had was superb and the other was far too dry. The service and wait staff were on point. Order: Local Asparagus ($20.00 each) x1 - Crunchy (almost raw) asparagus wrapped in prosciutto - Tasty cheese base with a brown butter vinaigrette - Refreshing and light appetizer Ricotta Gnudi ($17.00 each) x1 - The gnudi was a bit chewy which indicated it was a little under done - The overall taste was good - The portion size was quite large for an appetizer Beverly Creek Braised Lamb Shank ($45.00 each) x1 - Beautiful presentation - Perfectly cooked lamb that fell off the bone - The couscous was tasty and cooked well - The coconut curry did not taste of coconut and tasted more like a tomato sauce, rather than a curry - The garlic naan was okay but there are better options from cheaper local Indian restaurants - The raita was great and refreshing Coffee Cake ($11.00 each) x1 - A great tasting coffee cake - The cake itself was incredibly dry - This should be paired with a drink (like a coffee) or a sauce should be added to the dish to alleviate the dryness Butterfinger ($12.00 each) x1 - Exceptional dessert - Great pairing between the peanut butter, caramel, and marshmallow - The Butterfinger itself was quite rich but the pairings helped lighten it Mr. Pink ($15.00 each) x1 - A sweet and fruity cocktail - Perfect for summer Mr. Blonde ($15.00 each) x1 - A wine forward cocktail with a nice elderflower taste Atmosphere and Site: - The restaurant is located on Richmond which is populated by numerous local & boutique businesses - The ground floor of the restaurant is brightly lit with big windows - The upper floor of the restaurant is more dim and less inviting - The entire restaurant's walls had curated art pieces Service: - Great service that was quick to take our orders and checked in on us regularly - The wait staff were able to move us from the top floor to the bottom floor upon request - The food arrived incredibly quickly (even with most of the tables occupied). The appetizer and drinks we ordered came out 5~ mins after we placed it, the main came out 10~ mins after that, dessert came out 5~ mins after we ordered it

Exceptional. One of the best restaurants in ottowa. We got Seared scallops, braised lamb shank, prawns, key lime, creme brulee, and butterfinger. Everything was prepared perfectly and had incredible depth of flavor. Their wine pairings are right on the spot

There is something about going to a restaurant and be let down by the food. The disappointment and sadness one can feel is quite tragic. Compared to where I typically go to, Gezellig is on the higher end. With the numerous 5 star reviews, I had great expectations. However, those expectations were simply a dream. I know everyone has different tastes but I didn't find the food good. If you asked me to reorder the food for half the price, I wouldn't even want to fork out the money for it. There are far superior food at a fraction of the price. I can tell the chefs had wonderful techniques as the meat dishes were cooked to perfection. The Beverly Creek Braised Lamb Shank was tender and juicy. However the problem was with the flavour, or the lack of. I suppose the chef wanted us to taste the natural flavour of the meat and didn't marinade it with anything. But the dish was very bland. As for the coconut curry, it was citrus based, no hint of coconut. The Naan bread itself was quite forgettable and had no garlic flavour (not sure because it took on the curry flavour as it was somewhat soaked in the dish or that it was quite sour to begin with). I was hoping the Naan would be more buttery. I also didn't enjoy the planning of the dish. Firstly, there were two forms of carbs in the dish (couscous and Naan bread) while there were no vegetables. Secondly, as the couscous was placed at the bottom, coated by the curry, it soaked up all the citrus sauce. After eating half the dish, I kind of wanted a palette cleanser as I was getting bored of the bland citrus flavour. Lastly, I wished the dish was presented on a plate because cutting the meat off the shank in a bowl was challenging. You had to cut the meat off the bone without tipping the bowl over. At the same time it was hard to get to ingredients in the bowl when you had to maneuver the bone around the bowl. Overall the dish was underwhelming and didn't fit my flavour palette. As for the Alberta Beef Ribeye, it was cooked perfectly and had the most amazing gravy. It was quite fatty and was harder to get through as the service went on. Depending on how you feel about fatty meat pieces, your like and dislike of the dish may vary. The asparagus and mushrooms seemed to have just been blanched with no flavour. The portion of the dishes was surprisingly big. Our party all struggled to finish our dish. The service, environment and atmosphere were amazing. The waiter was observant and caring. The environment was very AC'd. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxing. You didn't had to tiptoe or whisper. It was just very comfortable to be in the restaurant.

Its my second time having brunch in Gezellig. They offer two plates 28$ per person options for brunch. Its a good idea when you want to try more kinds of dishes. Their food is fresh and egg is amazing. You can reserve a seat through their website

Had an absolutely wonderful evening. The beverages/wine selection are fantastic and I especially loved the theme (Scooby doo) of the specialty cocktails. The food was incredible. The consideration of flavour and mouthfeel as well as the beautiful presentation really spoke to the intention and thought behind each dish. Certainly a dining experience I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Great place for brunch as they have an awesome deal of $25 for 2 plates of your choice. I got the chicken and waffle and the pork belly. The chicken and waffle definitely stood out. Great mix of spicy and sweet. I also liked how the waffle is smaller than the chicken because often times the waffle is too much in quantity to finish.

This is our go-to place for lunch for menu options and quality in service and overall ambiance. Modern, open and comfortable. Pick any 2 plates for $28 per person is a great way to share, or mix and match between savoury and sweet. Portion size is just right. It's hopping here, but the service has been friendly and efficient every time, and the food has been consistently excellent!

Service has been nice and attentive. The lunch left no complaints either, even though the pulled pork sandwich was good, it did not 100% convince me. It was a little light on flavour. I really liked the fries, which were perf3ctly crispy on the outside.

Fanatic dining experience at Gezellig. Our appetizers were quite good but both of our mains were absolutely mouthwatering. The wait staff came by frequently but were not intrusive at all. The cost of dining was greatly justified by the quality of the meal.

the atmosphere is lovely. we sat upstairs, ordered two appetizers, some drinks, and three mains. server was kind and funny. our reservation was for 7pm on a Friday. the restaurant filled up quickly and even though everyone was having conversations, it didn't feel too loud or packed.

Came for our wedding anniversary and had such a lovely meal. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend and will certainly be going back. Also, I have to say how much I appreciate the mocktails on their menu. They were so good and takes some of the stigma away from not having alcohol with a nice meal.

I got the beef tartare and braised Lamb shank. The beef tartare was delicious. I really enjoyed the garlic flavours in the dish. The downside of my meal was the braised Lamb. The Lamb was braised perfectly, however, the coconut curry was very bland. I could not taste the coconut nor the curry flavour. The naan was also on the hard side. I also tried my friends ribeye steak. I would definitely recommend it. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare with the right amount of intramuscular fat.

I have been here several times for lunch, brunch and dinner. In fact I hosted my moms surprise 75th bday party there last year. My most recent experience was on this past Tuesday which happened to have been my 50th birthday. The food was very good, the service was good however not up to par with what I had grown accustomed to receiving there. In a restaurant like this I do expect my wine to be poured after the first glass.

We had an incredible experience at Gezellig on Sunday night. Our food was exceptional and our service by James was even better. He was extremely knowledgeable about both the food and wine menus, and was so engaging and personable. Zerena greeted us at the door, offering to take our coats, and also checked in with our table to ensure our meal and experience was above our expectations. The ambiance was elegant, the staff was so welcoming, and our evening was 10/10. I absolutely recommend choosing Gezellig for your next dinner out!

This was our first visit to Gezellig. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the warm look snd feel of the restaurant. The service from the moment we entered was friendly and our server was friendly as well as well as knowledgeable and timely. We enjoyed 2 different appetizers and entrees along with the recommended wine pairings which were perfectly matched! The ambience and professional service added to the enjoyment of our experience. Cost was very reasonable for the experience. We will definitely be back!

Thank you Gezellig and Steve Beckta for a fabulous NYE take-out dinner - you’ve been a class act throughout the pandemic - and the quality of food and service has been incredible, top notch but never pretentious - wishing you and everyone involved the best possible 2021!

This place was amazing, as all of these sister restaurants are. Food was delicious, wine was amazing and service was excellent. Worth the price tag! Right now they're only letting in 50 people at a time with a max of 4 people per table so reservations are a must. The tables are well distanced and all staff wears a mask at all times. You need a mask if you want to walk anywhere in the restaurant. Our table was upstairs and it was soo cozy! They will be offering takeout and their curated menu (you finish up the meal at home) during the lockdown. I highly recommend!

Bravo! Over the years, I have been lucky to eat at many restaurants in the Ottawa area. In my opinion, Gezellig is among the top five restaurants in the National Capital Region. During my latest visit, I went with my family for brunch, and all of our plates were delicious. My son told us that his eggs were the best he had ever eaten. Overall, it was a really fun experience with great food. Would be more than happy to come back.

  • 4/5 Becky R. 9 months ago on Google
Service was good and although the menus is small, it has a good variety of options. As a vegetarian who is allergic to eggs and avocado, there weren’t many options for me. It would be nice to have a vegan option that wasn’t salad on the menu and maybe more eggless options. I think for non-vegans, it is a great spot.

We ordered the scallops, lamb shank, appetizers and deserts. It was such a rich and flavorful palette. The scallops were perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth, well paired with other items in the dish. The service was incredible and really lovely ambiance (inside a former bank with tall ceilings).

The atmosphere and service at Gezellig were excellent. The food was very good in general, although I found my scallops a little bland. And like most restaurants in Canada right now, the prices were shocking. Still, it was a delightful evening.

My boyfriend and I had a date night here to celebrate my birthday. The food was perfect and our service was amazing. We will be back!

I dined here for the first time with my wife and it was a wonderful experience. Our meals were delicious, exquisitely plated with exemplary service. I ordered the scallops which perfectly done served on an interesting base of black beans and shaved brussel sprouts that worked really well together. My wife had the flank steak which she thoroughly enjoyed. I started my meal with a Shaggy cocktail which was tasty and refreshing, and finished with the Butterfinger desert, which was totally decadent. Gezellig is definitely worth checking out.

Excellent service compliments delicious food. Came for family brunch on Sunday, with a picky teen, who raved about how good her French toast was. Huevos and Benedict were lovely. Crème brûlée wasn’t life changing but not too sweet which is appreciated. Butterfinger is a scrumptious classic!!!! Love this place and highly recommend it.

  • 4/5 Becca D. 3 years ago on Google
The service was excellent and we felt very comfortable and safe. The wines were delicious, though the "by-the-glass" selection could have been expanded. The food was generally very good, though the duck and its side of beluga lentils was a bit on the salty side, even for my salt-loving husband. Would happily try again!

  • 4/5 John S. 3 years ago on Google
The food is excellent, quietly stated, well presented and well balanced in flavours. Dinner service was excellent, but slow due to limited staff until after 6 pm, also the only parking we could find was limited to one hour before 7 pm (we got a $40 ticket for our 5:30 Saturday reservation), so I recommend 6 pm for your reservation. The sound ambience is poor, with very sharp reflections of diners' talking; more sound absorption is seriously needed.

  • 5/5 Dan Y. 2 years ago on Google
The staff was everything for us that night. They were very nice and inclusive. We didn't make a reservation on a Saturday night and somehow they seated us shortly. We were on the patio and very underdressed yet they still seated us. The food is on the fine dining end. A little pricey but well worth it. The lamb was delicate but with strong flavors. We also loved the smaller dishes/ appes very much. Will definitely visit again.

(Translated by Google) Was recommended duck breast, and then ordered duck and cod. Duck is good but I prefer cod. My favorite point is that each dish has a good wine to match, and you can order it directly if you don’t know how to choose a wine. The dishes are nothing special compared to other western restaurants, but I give 5 stars for this service:) (Original) 被推荐了duck breast, 后来点了duck和鳕鱼。duck不错不过我更喜欢鳕鱼。 最喜欢的点是每道菜有配挑好的酒,不懂挑酒也可以直接点。菜色比起其他西餐厅也没什么特别,但是凭这项服务我给5星:)

We've waited 18 months for this one, or possibly even longer and I'm happy to say it was worth it. We had a fabulous night at Gezellig. Now the food was good, perhaps even great...the starters were the standout; I went for fish cake which had a delightful smoked element and the missus went for the beef tartar (the best of all). For mains I had the sea bass and the steak for her - surf and surf, turf and turf you notice - we were making up for all those missed meals! But what really made the night was the server; big beardy bloke behind a mask (we were so overcome with delight that we forgot to ask his name) who wined and dined us, entertained and delighted us. Let me tell you that the food and decor can make a dining experience good, but a good server can make it exceptional, and he certainly did. We'll be back!

We hosted a special sweet 16 dinner with my children (12,14 and 16). We were treated as welcomed guests even though the bill for the children was substantially less than a table of adults (no alcohol). The kids felt like royalty. We had a fantastic night. Top notch service!

We ate here last night, on a trip to Ottawa from Toronto. I had the sirloin, wife had the lamb. Service was very attentive, but not to the point of bothersome. Our water glasses did not remain empty for long. Food was phenomenal, and for a fair price for fancy eats. The chef seemed particularly well seasoned, doing great things with the mushrooms in both our dishes - to die for. We split a delish chocolate dessert. Will definitely partake again.

The food here is phenomenal, the best brunch I've had in Ottawa. My wife and I went here for our anniversary brunch, we ordered 4 dishes to share and we were extremely satisfied with the taste of our orders. Definitely a most try!!

My husband and I went here for our 1 year wedding anniversary and it was such a lovely experience. I had been wanted to try Gezellig for a while, and all I can say is I wish I had done so sooner! The waiter we had was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave us great recommendations. Once he found out we were celebrating our anniversary he brought us two glasses of champagne - such a nice touch to help make our evening feel special. All the other staff working were also very pleasant and very friendly, and they had a great set up for their patio during Covid. We look forward to coming back and dining here again in the future - eager to try out their brunch! P.S. When we went the Semifreddo was on the dessert menu and it is probably one of the best desserts we've ever had! It just had the perfect combination of flavours and textures and it was so amazing we ended up ordering 2! If you see it on the menu - order it, you won't regret it!

We found the food to be overpriced for the quality. We went on New Years eve and loved the service and our table. However the ravioli main dish was under done. We eat a lot of Italian and know when the pasta is right. It was tough and chewy. The lamb was delicious over uncooked wild rice which was like pellets. We were content overall but the food did not live up to Beckta reputation.

Gezellig is one of our favourite restaurants in the city. Sunday we came in for dinner and had a great experience. Our server was pleasant and professional. She answered any of our questions about the menu and made sure my wife's dietary restriction was noted and explained how the chef would modify the dish to accommodate. The food was great as always. I had the wine pairing with my lamb and the match was very nice. We will definitely come back again.

We decided to try your restaurant to celebrate and thank my brother and his wife for so graciously hosting me to 2 weeks. The staff were attentive, but not overbearing. The food was sumptuous and the lamb in particular was outstanding. The waiters choice of wines and even a bourbon with the creme bruise were superb recommendations. Thank you, you made a special night even memorable.

I am still in awe of the service I got at Gezellig and it will be one I will not forget soon and I will continue sharing with whoever will listen. From the second I entered the restaurant to the time I left everyone was so nice and wished me happy birthday but the hero of the day would be James!!! James you are nothing but short of an Angel on this earth!! Thank you for making my birthday the best birthday ever and for seeing me!! You have no idea what your kindness has done, and how it has impacted me and I couldn't stop singing your praises all weekend!!! I will be back to Gezellig and I'll definitely recommend everyone to you. Food, ambiance and service was amazing. Thank you Gezellig for having me on my birthday. 5 stars and looking forward to my next visit 😀
