All the food has a nice aroma but everything is incredibly bland in our opinion. For the ingredients, portion and quality of their food, the prices are incredibly high, especially the salads. Some of the meat dishes are almost the same price as the salads. Their meat dishes are not very tasty either, it’s as if they quickly cooked the meat and added sauce on top, I don’t think it’s marinated as the meat was dry and flavourless. Their curry dishes does not have the richness as other restaurants, it’s very thin, and is mostly filler. There was only 2 potato chunks and it was still hard in the middle, just shows you how quickly they made the curry. The curry was mainly onions and tomatoes, which made it even more unpleasant. I was disappointed with the meal as I expected higher quality or even just better tasting food. I would highly recommend other Thai restaurants.

Food, service and ambiance were all amazing! Pad thai and curry were delicious and so were our drinks. Highly recommend for a good thai experience!

Was very disappointed after reading all the good reviews of this place. To start, over an hour and a half wait for a take-out order on a week night is just ridiculous, and it was later at night not even during the dinner time rush. When I arrived there was hardly anyone in the restaurant either so they were clearly not that busy. I then get back to my hotel and open the bag to find no chopsticks or utensils, luckily I was able to get some from the front desk of the hotel to eat with. The food was also disappointing. The Pad Thai was very mushy. The flavors were ok but nothing spectacular. The spring rolls were at least decent. There are definitely better places to get Thai food from though and with a fraction of the wait time.

Probably the best Thai cuisine in town so far, in my opinion. Sitting at patio is very relaxing. Having a little drinks in such nice decorations. The owner put up a lot of effort on how the dishes and drinks look like. My favorite dish is the Coconut salmon! Sometimes I found the taste and the tableware, especially the way they used to decorate the wine changes once a while. Don’t know if they lack of the tableware at that moment or it’s their way of making changes. Love this place!

No place does Thai food like Khao Thai. I’ve absolutely loved every dish I’ve ordered from here! Been here 5+ times and the dishes, presentation and service are just bussin!!! Their khao soi is the love of my life. I honestly wouldn’t mind coming home to it every night 😩💯 It’s on the heavier side of the soup spectrum, made with red curry paste & coconut cream. The broth is both savoury and sweet, creating a balanced harmony of flavours. I would also recommend the green curry & the grilled chicken skewers. Reminds me of the $1 chicken skewers I would buy when I was in Bangkok. It’s grilled to perfection!

The satay chicken skewers are a must try - they were super tender and served with a sweet peanut sauce. We also had 2 curries, which tasted pretty ordinary. Food came at a reasonable time and our server was attentive. My biggest issue is that they sat us in the corner of the restaurant next to the window where some guy was cleaning even though there were lots of empty tables in the restuarant..

Quite a number of dishes were unavailable. We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, which the waitress confirmed with us herself and yet when it was served, it was with shrimp that came with a higher price. The presentation of the dishes was appealing, yet the taste of everything was too sweet and far from any authentic Thai dishes. The Tom Yum Goong was not spicy or flavourful at all and the portion was too small and definitely overpriced. The Pad Thai was weird too cause they added ketchup to it. It’s not a wise choice to dine in this restaurant especially when there are so many nice bars and restaurants around this area.

Absolutely blown away by the food. As a vegetarian, I strive to find Thai places that infuse a ton of flavour into their food and Khao Thai is definitely one of them! We had the vegetarian red curry and the vegetarian drunken noodles, and both were fantastic, I’ve been chipper since eating it! Really lovely ambience and service as well, and really good portion sizes (one dish can definitely be shared between two people, or you can pack and take home for some good times the next day haha) Really enjoyed it!

Nice atmosphere in a small package. Not too many people indoors allowing for an intimate dinner with friends. Service was prompt and friendly, attentive and sincere. The food was quick to arrive, tasty spring roll appetizer, and delicious cocktails. The mains were unreal, my party had the General Thai chicken and I ate a yellow curry dish. By far, the tastiest Thai curry I've had, bar none. Prices are very affordable, fed 4 for under $100. Definitely returning!

Absolutely delicious Pad Thai - flavourful and not dry. The green curry is also amazing. Spring rolls are great too, but a bit overpriced. Would recommend this place.

One of the single worst places I've eaten. To sum it up, it tasted like someone tried to make Thai food at home and screwed up. They literally put the most minimal effort in their dishes. Ordered the Papaya Salad and it was the saddest looking and worst tasting papaya salad I have had. Shrimp (why shrimp anyway!?) literally just plopped on top of a sad salad, that didn't taste fresh and was lukewarm. Likely had been just sitting on the kitchen counter. Beef curry wasn't tender and was excessively sweet. It's as if they rely more on people thinking it tastes good because it has a ton of sugar than actually trying to put together a cohesive dish. Potatoes hardly even cooked through as well. Finally the shrimp curry was just as the papaya salad, just some shrimp floating in a watered-down curry. No effort to marinate, saute, or texture to the dish. I don't want to say, not to eat there, but I'm genuinely upset about my experience.

The papaya salad was bland when it was supposed to be spicy. We also had to pay for the rice on the side if we ordered curry. It was quite pricey for what it is. I don't recommend this restaurant for Asians who are looking for an authentic taste and experience. Also, our waitress was cold and didn't ask any question during the whole meal about the satisfaction of our dishes. She really made us feel like she didn't care about us. There is definetely room for improvement. Until then, we will definitely not go back.

The photos speak for themselves. The food here is absolutely delicious. On top of that, the atmosphere and service are top tier! Me and my girlfriend road tripped from Toronto to Montreal and we had to do a pit-stop here because it is so good. Well worth our 2h detour!

A Culinary Gem: Authentic Thai Delights at Khao Thai! From the moment I stepped into Khao Thai, I was transported to a world of authentic Thai culture. The restaurant's ambience struck a perfect balance between elegance and comfort, with intricate Thai decorations and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The menu was a delightful journey through Thailand's rich culinary landscape. Each dish was not only a feast for the taste buds but also a work of art. The Khao Thai Combo, Som Tom Salad and Pad Thai was exceptional, with perfectly balanced flavors and textures. The Red Curry with salmon in the young coconut, with its creamy and spicy notes, was an absolute revelation. The ingredients were fresh, and the spices were masterfully used, demonstrating a deep understanding of traditional Thai cooking. The service at Khao Thai was as impressive as the food. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, adding a personal touch that made the dining experience even more special. They were quick to offer recommendations and were well-versed in the nuances of each dish. What set Khao Thai apart was not just the excellence of its food but also its ability to create a truly authentic Thai experience. From the music playing softly in the background to the beautifully presented dishes, every detail contributed to an atmosphere that was both exotic and welcoming. I would recommend Khao Thai is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Thai dining experience. The combination of exquisite food, enchanting ambience, and exceptional service makes it a standout. Whether you're a lover of Thai cuisine or a newcomer eager to explore, Khao Thai promises an unforgettable culinary adventure.

Excellent food. But I am a bit perturbed by the delivery drivers actions. I sent them an e-transfer to pay for it before receiving delivery. I was not made aware that they had not received it until the next day when the driver just showed up to my apartment, unannounced, and then knocked on my door aggressively. Before I could reach the door, he then proceeded to try and open the door. What was the plan there buddy? What were you going to do once you got into my house? Shame too cus like I said the food was great, but I will never be ordering food from them again.

I lived in Thailand for two years, so my standard is pretty high. I have never been disappointed. I ate on their patio tonight for the first time in over 18 months and it was glorious. I had yellow curry with chicken, potatoes and onion with steamed jasmine rice. It was rich and delicious and healthy and filling. Absolute food heaven, and the 3 patio staff were sweet and accommodating. Can’t wait to go back to try their signature dish!

Ottawa’s best Thai restaurant. Been going here for years for dine-in and take out. Service is always friendly and efficient. The vegetarian options are excellent and can be made vegan. My faves are the rice wrap (best filling & peanut sauce in Ottawa), red curry and eggplant (never had eggplant like this anywhere else. Bravo!). They have an easy to use takeout order feature on their website as well.

Update : Be aware that kitchen seem to close at 9pm...then staff (all of them) will push you around 9.15 to hurry up to finish your diner so they can close at 10pm for sure...did not feel right!

Very impressed with the quality of food from Khao Thai! Having been spoiled with some of the most well known Thai joints in Toronto— I was excited to try this place out and compare due to the positive reviews. As dine in was now open again we opted to eat in and was sat quickly in an area with ample space, and dividers even though the restaurant was busy with other parties in the front. The server was polite and knowledgeable, and she was quick to take our order! We ordered a Thai iced tea, shrimp Tom yum $8, pad thai $18, massaman curry $18 with side of rice. Everything was well presented, flavourful, and portion sizes were decent as we had leftovers! Overall a very delicious meal (maybe skip the thai iced tea $6), I would return again and highly recommend Khao Thai!

Had heard lots about how good this restaurant was so decided to give it a try. We visited on a Monday night and the restaurant was still quite busy and full. Despite this, the service was quick and efficient which I appreciated. The presentation of the food/drink was also very nice which I enjoyed. However, in terms of taste, i felt like every item we ordered was so-so. I believe this could be due to the fact that I had high expectations going in. The satay chicken skewers, although recommended by many, were very bland. The pad thai was good but I’ve definitely tasted better ones. The steamed salmon in red curry served in a coconut was okay at first but it left a weird after taste that I did not enjoy. If I had to pick my favourite item out of what we ordered, it would be the vegetable spring rolls that was super crispy and freshly made. Overall, I think the visit was worth it for the experience but I don’t see myself visiting again in the near future.

We had the "Khao Thai Rolls", "Tom Kha Kai" Soup and "Massaman" Curry. They have alot of options on their menu as well as Gluten Free options. It tasted good, but the portions are small so it would be best to get a few dishes to try and share :)

Hi all! I started going to Khao Thai when I first moved here for my PhD as my supervisor is obsessed with this place. Due to Covid and her sabbatical, I have not had the chance to visit the physical restaurant in about 18 months but they have honestly gone above and beyond in their takeaway orders. Everything is fresh, steaming hot, and they fully accommodate my edited orders (no mushrooms, no cilantro/coriander, etc.). I realize that may be placing an undue burden on them but I greatly appreciate them taking the effort to accommodate me. Khao Thai is my guilty pleasure and I order from them 1-2 times a week. You can’t go wrong with this amazing restraint and their fantastic chefs/owners! 😊

(Translated by Google) Otto Village Thai food is among the best, but the price is a little higher than fast food and small restaurant Thai food, so the price is not outstanding. Tom Yum Goong tastes good enough, all curries are not thunderous, anyone who can accept the coconut flavor of Thai curry should like it. In addition, I squatted for several times and didn't eat coconut rice. I set a flag and waited for weeding. The service is also good, one time I was too hungry when I came back from Toronto, and the fresh taro fairy was found. The young lady said that she couldn't eat takeout, and then she quietly poured it into the bowl in the store for fear that the boss would find out. Hahahaha, so cute.

Not a bad thing to say. Had wonderful food and really good service. We ordered appetizers and it probably wasn't even up to 10 minutes later when our main meals came out. Waitstaff were also really attentive. They have a patio too but it was really packed when we went (1pm on a Sat) but there was lots of space left inside if you want something more cozy/less open.

I visited this place on a weekday evening. Restaurant was not much crowded but the street parking is bit hard to find. Food - I loved the veg clear soup. The broth tasted amazing, something I didn’t have in long time. Service - very friendly and super fast. They served us both soup and main course together. Something which I didn’t expected. Better to request what you want before. Ambiance - typical Asian ambiance. I loved it. Few colourful paintings and photos all around. Was pleasure looking at them. Location - in the heart of the city and near tourist places. Recommended - Yes.

BEST THAI EVER! We started with the Por Pia Sod appetizer, very good, very fresh! The pitcher of Sangria was one of the best we've ever had! Edible flowers in the glass ~ beautiful presentation! One of the best Yellow Curry dishes we've ever had. Great presentation as well. Served in a copper bowl over a candle to stay warm. Nice touch. A fantastic selection of Thai cuisine with great service. We stopped by during Halloween of 2019 and the experience was exceptional. Tent covered patio, propane heaters, complementary blankets, and comforting jasmine tea. That along with the warm Tom yum soup it was a fantastic day. Just recently in Feburary of 2021 we went again for dine-in. The staff were all wearing masks and keeping things very clean. There were even clean barriers between tables. The food is really flavorful and can range quite a bit in Alice level so I think there is room for all sorts of people to enjoy this diverse selection of flavours. Also there cocktails are quite nice so I would suggest giving some a try.

the food is EXCELLENT .. even if the uber drivers let it cool down while picking up a second delivery in your area ... I havent found a bad dish yet ... the wings are awesome ... I wish I got more of them in an order even the pork bun is delicious and they come in nice serving boxes of cardboard so are enormously better for the environment than plastic or styrofoam you get elswhere.

Very unique and well decorated patio with friendly staff. We got various dishes across the board. Some curries and stir-fried dishes. All very flavourful and enjoyable. The Thai bucket was nicely decorated and it tasted ok. Very earthy and somewhat authentic Thai experience as their dishes taste more unique vs run of the mill Thai food fast chains.

This restaurant is so good! The service is amazing and the restaurant is located on the quieter side of downtown Ottawa. I loved how the staff gave an additional bowl of soup during lunch time when my family of four ordered three main dishes! This made my mom happy because everyone got a little bit of everything during lunch time :) as for the main dishes, it was very good! The restaurant falls more under the sweeter side but it was not a problem. I absolutely love the tom yum (rice version) :)

A week-end stay in Ottawa from Toronto and we found a Restaurant for dinner that enhanced the Great time we all were having... The Khao Thai was exceptional from the incredibly friendly and giving service and the food that was absolutely delicious. The Mango salad blew everyone away with its flavour and subtle dressing...The main course servings were generous for our party of 4 and very very very good. Chatting with a few patrons revealed that 5 star quality is assured regardless of what would be ordered, so leave caution to the wind, ask for suggestions and everything is going to be more than alright.... I'd be back here in a jif.

I don't understand how this place has such a high rating? The Tom Yum soup was awful, the pad thai wasn't very good either and the price was ridiculously expensive. Do yourself a favour and try Viet Thai on Bank Street- so much better than this.

My first time at Khao Thai! I’ve heard about this place a lot and finally decided to try. And I’m glad I did! This place has a huge collection of cocktail menu! Gaeng Karee Gai was delicious. It was a bit on the sweeter side, but I enjoyed the dish. Salmon Len Sorn Har, although was mentioned by the staff that it isn’t spicy, was a little spicy. It was a manageable spice level, and it was also delicious as well. Tom Kha Kai, the soup, was nice but too sour for me. Just a personal preference, my friend like the soup! I could see myself visiting this place again!

This was our first time to a Thai Restaurant....seriously! Table service was very quick, almost too quick. It seemed as though we were being rushed but that stopped towards the end of our meal. Our server was very nice and polite just a bit hard to understand some of her words as she had quite an accent. She helped us choose some items that our tastes would probably like. Food selection was tremendous. Too many items in my opinion. And I didn't like the fact the dishes are numbered, like some local Chinese Take-Out joint. But I did see later that many of the Eastern/Asian restaurants in the Market were the same. Food was served as 'medium' in heat with hot sauce on the side...for me! Very tasty. Our cocktails were also very tasty. We came away full and satisfied. Reasonably priced and in good location. This will not be our last Thai restaurant.

We showed up with a party of five and no reservation but they managed to find a spot for us. Service was friendly, efficient and very attentive! A friend recommended this spot, claiming they had the best Pad Thai he's ever had, and it didn't disappoint! All our appetizers and meals were fantastic. Very impressed. We'll be back!
