Genio is the GOAT. This guy makes the subs to order every time, and although it'll take some time, its well worth the wait. Ingredients imported from Italy and an insanely good tomato salad on the side. This IS the best italian sandwich spot in town, hands down.

Had the wonderful opportunity to eat at Sanguiccio Deli Cafe and meet the owner/chef Genio. A wonderful man truly passionate about making delicious authentic food. The bread was made from scratch along with the sauce and everything else. The shop is filled with freshly made tomato sauces which attests to the home made authenticity of Genio’s sandwiches. I ordered the Chicken Butter Brandy sandwich which was delightful treat of flavours. Will definitely be coming back here again!

Instead of a picture of the food I decided to take a picture of the kitchen because it speaks for itself, although its blurry unfortunately. I won't pretend like this place wraps it's food in gold foil, but for $8 a sandwich, you won't be finding a fraction of the quality or flavor at Subway. You get to watch a man from Italy making sandwiches in front of your eyes the way he ate them growing up using handmade ingredients. All at a very reasonable price. No processed mass produced garbage. Just genuine, authentic food

I had the most amazing sandwich with chicken at this place! The flavors were outstanding, and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Highly recommended!

Really tasty, fresh food. The tomatoes especially are super juicy. I got The prosciutto and provolone sandwich. The diced tomatoes came with his own house made sauce and it was also delicious. As soon as I walked in the place smelled amazing. I would highly recommend this place and also would definitely come again. A hidden gem for sure. Inside is a bit small but there is also a small patio on the outside. Most people seemed to have walked there but I am not sure where parking could be available.

Best sandwiches in the city. The beef arrosto will melt in your mouth. Order ahead if you're in a rush because these sandwiches are all made fresh to order with love and care by the owner. A must try.

Can’t believe I’ve never been here before. Super old school vibe. Owner served me an amazing porchetta sandwich along with his home made hot sauce. Can’t wait to come back!

An absolutely amazing spot. He makes all his own food, nothing is pre made, and the specials are killer. It felt like I was at my Italian grandma's house, both the ambiance of the open kitchen and the quality and freshness of the food. Definitely get old school Italy vibes from here. Easily some of the best Italian sandwiches in Ottawa.

Really great, authentic food. Fresh cut meat, lettuce and cheese. Made me a fresh tomato salad to start off as well. All made in-house.

This little gem on Preston in the heart of little Italy is absolutely PHENOMENAL!! If I could give more than five stars I would. Hands down the best sandwich and plate of pasta I’ve ever had… and I’ve tried ALOT of places hahaha Thank you guys so much!

Stopped in for some lunch while visiting Ottawa on a snowstorm Saturday and were warmly welcomed by Genio. Sandwich of the day was a homemade sausage & rapini. Genio took great care to prepare them from scratch and the final product really showed his dedication to his craft. His hot sauce is also incredible. Unfortunately sold out but we were able to pack the small portion we had left from our plates. It was too good to let go to waste. Highly recommended spot for locals and visitors alike!

By far Ottawa’s best kept secret. Everything is made fresh to order so be prepared to wait a little. The bread, tomato sauce (from fresh tomatoes), pickles, mustard, porchetta, sausages …are all made from scratch. Ingredients are all sourced locally. An absolute gem of a place.

Had the sausage and rapini sandwich. it was delicious and the place was adorable. The owner was super sweet and he seemed to be genuinely passionate about cooking. We came in and after we ordered he straight up warned us that everything is made fresh so to expect a bit of a wait and it was worth it! Go there if you're not in a rush, bring your laptop, sudoku, crochet or a friend to have a nice conversation with while you wait for a delicious homemade Italian meal.

Very delicious sandwiches! We went to Ottawa from Toronto for a weekend only, the sandwich we tried at this place in the first day was so good, so we didn't think twice before returning second time next day. Extremely tasty and fresh. We'll definitely visit Sanguiccio Deli again once in Ottawa to enjoy these sandwiches one more time :) Highly recommend!

Easily one of the best sandwiches I've had since moving to Ottawa. Owner is incredibly friendly, everything is made fresh and he's got tons of options! His Porchetta sandwich is out of this world delicious, If you haven't been before then you're seriously missing out.

I can't say enough good things about this place. You're treated with love and warmth when come through the door to the minute you leave. Always smiling and make my day every time.

This was my first visit to the deli and I was beyond impressed. The care that is taken in the food shows thru and the depth of flavor is incredible. The food was only out done by how hospitable the owner was!
