Our group of friends wanted to hire the team at Meatings to create the highest end, high-quality meats experience they could imagine. We gave them carte-Blanche over the menu and they did not disappoint. What they delivered will have all 20 of us telling the tales for years. It cannot be understated how phenomenal this meal was. Mat and Nick not only delivered the most incredible meal, their service and friendliness was off the charts. We’re already positive we want to do this with them annually, it was worth every single penny, AND more. “Quick” run down of the meal below: 1) They sourced A5 Japanese Kobe Wine Beef. This beef is at the top of the pyramid, only 18 cattle a month are distributed for the entire globe. The cows only eat the Lees from a Kobe Winery. Only 1 butchery in Canada held these and meatings was on top of it. Part of the pieces were used to create the most incredible tartare ive ever tasted (by far), the other half were cooked over food fire to perfection and were a true melt-in-your-mouth experience 2) Duck Confit egg rolls - need I say more? WoW 3) 12-hour wood-smoked A5 Wagyu Brisket - there are truly no words to describe how incredible this brisket was. The flavor was heavenly. The home made Chimichurri On top was absolutely phenomenal. These came with fries which were a nice touch 4) Smoked & Braised Organic Beef Cheek Tacos - hands down the best tacos I’ve ever had, the meat was mind numbingly tender and juicy and flavorful 5) Ibérico Pork - they call this the “Wagyu of Pork”. It’s tender and juiciness was unparalleled. Combined With whatever they marinated it in was incredible, it made it hard to compare it to any other pork EVER lol 6) 6-cheese, smoked rib tip Mac and cheese - with 6 incredible cheeses, Asparagus, chorizo and a bit of mushrooms this was undoubtedly the most insane Mac and cheese ever 7) Grand marnier dipped fruits and donuts with home made cream - uhhhh WOW Thank you again to the team at Meatings, you folks are honestly incredible on and off the grill!!! First time trying Meatings and thought the food was fantastic. Nicely tender smoked meats. Pulled pork was juicy still and the brisket was nicely seasoned and mid fatty without being salty. Nice deck out front to sit and eat. Went on a weeknight and it wasn't busy so plenty of space to relax. Good canned beer selection as well!

Julius Caesar himself never experienced a meal of this magnitude. It was the most extravagant 8 course meal of my life from Meatings. Which included A5 Kobe steak and tartar, a legendary wagyu brisket, the most scintillating Iberico Pork, Duck Confit Egg rolls and a near heart-stopping 6-cheese chorizo Mac & Cheese. There was more than I can list. I literally had to wake up at 5am and take a shower to bring myself back down to earth. Just do it, and then thank yourself later.

We have been enjoying Meatings BBQ for a couple of years now, and when it came time to plan our backyard wedding there was no doubt that we would have Meatings cater it and that our guests would be treated to an amazing meal. Matt and his staff are friendly and courteous, and go out of their way to provide top notch service. Lydia, their wedding coordinator, was patient and kind, especially while we made frequent changes due to the pandemic, and she always made time to answer any questions we had. The food was delicious and our guests have not stopped talking about it - we would give them 10 stars if we could! Thank you so much for being a part of our wedding and going above and beyond for us. We will continue to highly recommend Meatings.

Meatings catered our private event last night and I have to say, it was a truly incredible experience. The only thing better than the quality of the food, was the quality of the whole Meatings team who made sure that every person there had a tremendous meal. I mean where else can you get A5 Waygu tartar, Iberico pork, waygu beef brisket, and so many other insane dishes all in the span of one evening. Either hire Meatings, or go visit them on the east end. You won’t regret it!

Amazing food & superb service as always. The only two knocks for me were the beer tap availability and the lack of indoor seating. They say they have beers on tap but they only had 1 “tap” (more of a redneck tap - cooler with hose and pour spout) and that tap wasn’t working. Won’t stop me from going back though as the food is by far the main attraction!! :)

Great food and fast service! Ordered online and picked up. Was very easy and lots of social distancing room in the former dining area. Had pulled pork, sausages, cole slaw, and beans! The tater tots were also delicious. In the dining room they also have lots of self serve items like pepperoni sticks, sauces and rubs. We'll be back especially since they cater to my son's allergies which include peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame. Visit Dominion Brewery, right around the corner, while you're there. Thanks!

Unfortunately, Meatings is no longer open at their Canotek location. Staff at Broadhead Brewing have told me that Meatings now only has a small outlet in Richcraft Sensplex with a very limited menu, and Broadhead itself has a limited menu which does not include brisket, pulled pork or ribs. They do have some good food offerings at Broadhead, for sure, but it's not the Meatings menu that we love! Hopefully, at some point, we'll be able to get the great smoked brisket and pulled pork from Meatings again! It's the best in Ottawa. (The 4 Stars is only because we can't get their brisket and pulled pork. The food and service itself has always been 5 stars!)

I highly recommend this place. A must try when you're around the area. I was in Ottawa for a short trip and I had dined in this place 2x. First one was a dine-in, and 2nd was an online order. The 1st time I went here, the lady taking my order was very nice. She tried to help me as I couldn't make up my mind. She recommended the mac & cheese as sides since they have a different twist to it. I happily obliged and it was really good! :) The ambiance is great. It's a small restaurant with limited sitting. I was lucky cause it wasn't busy when I got here. But by the time I was done with my food, the place was starting to get packed. I wasn't sure why there was a mosquito flying around the dine-in area. But it was pestering me the entire time I was eating my meal. Lol. The parking was a little tricky for me. Maybe because I wasn't familiar with the place. The parking was at the back of the building. I enjoyed my meal so much that I had to order online from my airbnb rental for dinner. The online delivery was well-packed and it was fresh by the time I got them. All in all, this was perfect! :)

Meatings really came through for our wedding day with incredible food and such attentive service. The servers made sure to come to us first with the passed appetizers and saved us a few when we were busy talking. Everyone raved about how good the food was, and we were nice and full and ready to drink and party after dinner! Mat also went above and beyond and helped us cut and serve our cake which was so nice. Really appreciate everything!! Highly recommend. Also the tasting was so fun before the wedding.

Avoid Meatings if you’re looking for a wedding caterer for a smaller event! I had a bad experience in communications with Meatings to book them for my cocktail-style wedding (100 people) in 2023. They were very slow to respond to questions, and communication was very poor (required prompting multiple times, poor grammar, difficult to understand emails). I was very understanding, as wedding season is a busy one, but when they out of the blue cancelled our late night snack two months out from our wedding date, it was extremely stressful. I was sent into a scramble trying to find someone else at the last minute to fill in. I’d just like to warn future couples looking for a wedding caterer that Meatings was very unreliable and difficult to communicate with. I wonder if my event had been bigger (more money for them), that I might have been treated differently. I ended up booking another very reliable catering service and dropped Meatings altogether, because I had no idea if they would come through or not in the end. Edit: in their response, Meatings says they will call me that day to “rectify” the situation. They have not called or reached out in any way, and it’s been over a week since their response was published.

Amazing bbq food and generous portions! The owner is very personable. The location is a bit difficult to find, it's off of a quiet road at the back of the building. The inside seating was very limited, but I heard they've recently expanded that. Based on my experience last time, I would do take out here rather than dine in.

Meatings on Canotek is incredible! The best restaurant around, but the disappointed with the restaurant in Sensplex. Ordered nachos ($17) and added brisket for $6 and there was a few tiny bits. We will wait until the summer to go back to Canotek.

Friendly service and good BBQ. Everything was tender and their sauce is delicious. Their mac and cheese was one of the best sides I've had in a while at any BBQ place! The only thing I was disappointed in was their cocktails. We ordered three - got one mojito remade and, even then, it was inconsistent from another mojito at the table (one was way too sour). Another cocktail tasted watered down.

Delicious bbq and smoked meats. About as authentic a bbq spot in Ottawa as you can find. Their brisket is exceptional! (They also do delicious meat pies)

Amazing barbecue place that you can tell have mastered their craft. Great food and very welcoming staff. Try their sandwiches! They’re amazing!

We visited this place looking for some good classic BBQ and this place delivers. We had a sample platter for 2: beef brisket, pulled pork, mac n cheese, coleslaw, and cornbread. Portions were good and staff was very friendly. We would come here again!

We ordered a full thanksgiving dinner from Meatings and they blew us all away!! It was honestly the best thanksgiving dinner I’ve ever had. The turkey was UNREAL, the stuffing was amazing, and the veggies fantastic. Such an easy process from the minute we ordered, to delivery, to eating!! I would recommend everyone place an order for their next holiday meal. If you want to have a stress free experience and amazing food, this is the place to order! 10/10.
