Solid neighbourhood brunch spot. I have eaten here 3 times and each time the food is consistently enjoyable. It's good food and the prices are very reasonable. I also find that even though this place is always full and bustling, the staff are sweet and show care. The last visit, I went there alone for a Sunday brunch and found them to be warm and made me feel at ease. They don't hover over you like some places but are still attentive and responsive. Great comfort atmosphere.

Probably some of the cheapest beer in Ottawa where the quality is still top notch! Such a great spot to people watch, enjoy a beverage, and get some great food all at an incredibly reasonable price! The staff are also all so wonderful - we’ll be coming back! Might be our new favourite patio

Came here spontaneously as I was doing an escape room in the area. Surprised by the affordable prices and great serving portion. Ordered the brisket which came with toast, mac n cheese, pickles, slaw and corn. Cozy vibes, good nachos and homemade hot sauce. Dark and moody/casual eatery for hanging out with friends.

I went here once and it was amazing! The food is well price. The atmosphere is great and the service was good. I got the brisket meal and milk and cookie. Everything was delicious.

Amazing food with even better prices! With the costs of everything on the rise, it's nice to see a decent price on a menu! The staff were great and friendly. The portions are just what you'd want for a meal. I'd recommend the patty melt or the chicken sandwich! Be sure to get there early as it fills up quick on the weekend!

Came for a small meal and tried the wings and brisket sandwich. The food here is affordable with slightly smaller portion sizes. The food is pretty good and service is attentive.

This is one of the best kept secrets in Ottawa. Great food at an extremely reasonable price. Great breakfast place. Anytime there is a lineup to get in before it being open is a sign it is the place to be! Highly recommended. Old bar-like setting while warm and comfortable at the same time. Long bar runs along the length of the establishment.

The food is always tastey and plentiful at this place. The price is great for what you get. It's a hidden gem in Hintonburg. Normally I get the grilled cheese but today I had their brunch. It was delicious. The wait wasn't very long either for how busy they were. In the photo: fried chicken on French toast & eggs benedict

The third has excellent breakfast classics with their own twist and exceptional service with a great atmosphere. We have, and will continue to, return to this gem. I also appreciate that the portion sizes are perfect to finish and feel completely satisfied without having to carry around leftovers afterwards.

Nice little brunch spot in Westboro. The design is very casual/ bar like. The patio is small but is nice because it’s on the side- away from the road- and has a nice view of the beautifully designed church across the road. All the staff that helped us was very welcoming and easy going. The menu is filled with traditional brunch options such as eggs, hash browns, salads, French toast, burgers, etc. Something I also noticed about the menu is the prices are very affordable for just about anybody, most items range from $3-10. Unfortunately the menu has very limited gluten free options so I was a little limited in what I could get. I ended up having a lettuce wrap burger with home fries and my partner had a grilled cheese and some eggs. All the food tasted good. The hash browns we’re heart shaped for Mother’s Day which was a cute and thoughtful touch. Overall we had a really good experience. My only recommendation would be to add some more gluten free options to the menu.

This local place is simply awesome... with great service, a great atmosphere and great choice of drinks! We stayed with friends nearby and came here quite a few times and loved it! Be it a quiet afternoon drink or late night red, the Third is a great place to chill!

We went for brunch on a weekend so it was pretty full and we had to wait a bit. But the seater and servers were very friendly and provided the most amazing service. We ordered a grilled cheese, a loaded french toast with cinnamon apple & whipped cream toppings and breakfast nachos. We also tried their homies which is a fried potato dish. All in all, loved the resto-pub place and would definitely visit again!

I always feel at home here. Beer choices check the right boxes, portion sizes are "just right" and their prices are reasonable. My fave is breakfasts as they just hit the spot and the staff make you feel like family. Get the mish mash hash - you'll thank me :)

One of the best restaurants and certainly of Hintonbourg, if not Ottawa. Simple yet very well executed recipes - some with exciting twists and a jaw dropping scone to not miss for brunch! All this offered for arguably the lowest price in town and exquisite service. Check out their newly built patio, very slick looking, enjoyable amid protection from traffic yet full exposure to the sun (some tables offer umbrellas) and a perfect view over the gorgeous church.

Hands down the best breakfast I've had all year. I'm excited to go back and try lunch and dinner menus too! I had the savory tart with bacon and oh my my it was delish. Hand made pastry with a sunnyside egg on top. I also had the fried chicken add on and it was hiding under a perfectly cooked fresh egg. The flavours were amazing and the hand made quality of the hot sauce and jam for toast was impeccable. Bravo to the chefs and the servers were also amazing and really authentically enjoyed being there.

Fav local haunt, amazing craft beer on tap and affordable delicious eats. Brunch is great, and so are their flat top burgers…as well as everything else on the menu! Staff always friendly and welcoming. It does get busy so call ahead or drop your name on a list and grab a beer at a neighborhood pub while you wait!

The Third is a go-to spot for me for a quick lunch while I’m in the area. Staff are wonderful, the menu is well-priced (especially for the neighbourhood) and food is always fresh. Their side garden salads are amazing with fresh dill and herbs added into the mix. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a well-priced and good quality meal in the area.

Was craving fish and chips and got it for takeout...was NOT disappointed. For the price, the quality was above and beyond! The tartar sauce was different in all the best ways! Apart from the amazing food, the customer service was on point. It was full when I walked in yet still got greeted right away. 5🌟

Came with a friend from out of town to catch up. Servers were attentive and made sure to top up coffee. Simple menu and not too many choices (a good thing). Reasonable prices. I had the breakfast nachos - delish - and a jalapeno cheddar scone. Both were excellent. Love the decor and the music. Whole vibe was relaxed and friendly. Will definitely be back!

Great service. Great atmosphere. Damn good food and cold beers! This is the kinda spot you want in your neighborhood. The Chicken Sandwhich is top notch.

Reasonable portions at reasonable prices! Sure the burger is smaller - but so is the price, by a lot! You get a nice takeout meal without feeling super bloated afterwards. No leftovers for tomorrow? Whatever, just come back! It'll cost less and be fresher.

Every time my husband and I come to Ottawa to see our son and his family. We must go to the third. Its such a great place to eat and have a drink. The food is delicious and the owner John and staff are always so friendly. If your in Ottawa this is a place your going to love to support.

This was recommended to me by a friend and it definitely didn't disappoint. We grabbed a burger and chicken sandwich for lunch on the patio and were very impressed at the friendliness, attentiveness, and speed of the service, but really blown away by how good it was. The portion sizes were perfect and the price was great for two for lunch. Will be returning in the future.

Fantastic brunch experience, the staff were prompt and took a name down when a table was not available. The prices are fantastic and the quality of the food is great. Makes you want to order more than one dish because they are affordable. I had the Breakfast Sandwich and a Scone, I wish the scone was a little less well-done, but had a nice lemon flavor, regardless. Will be returning with friends and family for sure.

I’m surprised it took us so long to hear about this place. i was genuinely shocked at the prices (under $10 for breakfast) The atmosphere was very much elegant pub. Sports on the TV, table heights all different, a bar for single seaters. very welcoming. A really great ceaser! We always order a sweet dish to share, which means we usually tend to eat it after our meals - I should have asked for syrup on the side because it was too soggy by the time we wanted to eat it. (A helpful tip for others who do the same!) The breakfast hashbrowns are very yummy. Can’t wait to come back! Oh, and arrived at 10:30 on a sunday and the wait was only 25 minutes huge plus for busy errand day.

Amazing Sunday brunch. Delicious and affordable. Exceptionally friendly and efficient service. I had eggs benny which is my go to every where. Perfect! Love their take on home fries too! Super laid back vibe. Love the eclectic neighbourhood. We had to wait a few minutes for a table so we strolled around and they called us in less than ten minutes. Highly recommend.

Follow my food blog on Instagram for restaurant reviews: @mimi.munches! 💖 I've always heard good things about The Third, so I had to check it out recently while walking in the Westboro/Wellington West area! They define the third place as a neutral public place where people can gather and interact; unlike the first place(home) and the second place (work), the third place allows people to put aside their concerns and simply enjoy the pleasure of good company. This was definitely apparent as soon as I walked in - the interior atmosphere is super cozy! The restaurant is long and not too wide, with a variety of tables, high top tables, and bar seating. There is lots of wood and the colour scheme is predominately green, which is really calming. I started off with the Salted homemade potato chips ($3), which came with a really rich more-ish dip - so good! I love when the chips are BIG and crispy. Crispy chicken sandwich ($12): southern fried chicken, carrot & jalapeno slaw, pickles, spicy mayo, homemade potato bun. This had a THICK piece of fried chicken! It protruded out from underneath the potato bun, and was satisfyingly crunchy. Great value too, with thick cut fries! Roasted brisket ($13): Must-try in my opinion! This was with corn chutney, slaw, pickles, sweet potato mac n' cheese toast, BBQ sauce. Mmm...this brisket was TENDER. It had the right proportion of lean and fat meat, and melted in my mouth. Even better when put on top of toast, with the corn chutney/slaw/pickles! AND the mac n' cheese was RICH. I would order just a large size of it if it was available! Dessert was as milk and cookie ($3): how nostalgic! The chocolate chip & walnut cookie was WARM and not too sweet - soooo good dipped into milk with each bite. Nex time I'll be back for brunch!

The MOST delicious club sandwich I have ever had!! The service was great, the sangria was delicious and attractive, and the turkey and overall presentation of this club sandwich was just phenomenal. The turkey tasted fresher than anything I've ever tasted. This place is amazing! 😋🥳

I called and ordered take away. I had the club sandwich and fries, which is the same order from my first visit a couple of months ago. The fries had too much salt on them both times, but the club sandwich is very good. I like the reasonable prices and the selection of food available. I will definitely eat here again and would recommend it.

You will be back, as soon as you try this lovely place you fall in love. Great flavourful food, prices are more than fair and the staff is so friendly. I’ve heard from numerous friends how great the breakfast is, and will be trying that next. Sweet potato fries are one of my favourites here as well as the crispy chicken sandwich tossed in hot n’ honey!

I loved my meal at The Third and I can't wait to go back. You can tell they care a great deal about the quality and taste of the food they serve. They also provide very cordial and attentive service. It was one of the most comforting dining experiences I had in the city. I can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu.

I love this place. It's exactly what a neighbourhood pub should be. A good selection of local beers, great burgers and sandwiches, and possibly a contender for best fries in Ottawa. The Third has a very welcoming, unassuming atmosphere, casual, unpretentious, familiar. A gem of Hintonburg!

We participated in a fun group lottery to try a restaurant in Hintonburg. By chance, we drew The Third. Our group will do a Zoom meeting next week and share our reviews of various Hintonburg restaurants. We are happy to say that we will give The Third highest marks! Our takeout food was excellent, with generous servings, well-presented and reasonable prices. My husband loved the batter on the fish. I liked everything in my Roasted Brisket! The corn chutney was a real treat!

  • 5/5 Cameron G. 2 years ago on Google
Come to The Third for an extremely relaxed, focused menu executed with perfection every time. They may very quietly have the best fries in Ottawa, the menu is well priced and portions are perfect. A good selection of local taps with a rotating seasonal. The atmosphere is laid back excellence, as if you were being hosted by good friends! A couple sports screens above the bar, but not in an overpowering way. The patio had some spots with and without shade, and many wasps unfortunately - hopefully there’s a nest they can take care of in the future? Can’t wait to go back

Location: I think this neighbourhood is known as Hintonburg. There's street parking but I think it's metered on weekdays. We went on a Saturday so parking was free. The place: I didn't see the interior because we oped for the patio. It's not very big but it allowed for enough social distancing (#1 priority these days!) and was nice and sunny! The goods: I had a scone and the classic breakfast. First, the scone was delicious and warm, and that homemade jam just amplified its tastiness. YUM! Breakfast was great and the portion (for me) was perfect. Their homemade bread is also pretty awesome. Service: Good Price point: $11
