Super cute place for a girl date! It's a small space so a reservation would be a good idea! The food was very tasty - good mixture of flavours and textures. I got the brunch sampler for $45, it comes with tea. it had a good mix of savory and sweet items. I enjoyed my time here :)

If you can afford it, pay for the real deal- this isn't it. While the first server that sat us down, Chloe, did an amazing job and was really knowledgeable, the rest of the experience was overseen by another server and was 'meh' at best. The demographic of the clients and servers alike was early 20s, so as a group of 30+ year olds, we were definitely out of place. They were late setting up our reserved table, then rushed us out before our 90 minutes was up. Additonally, they did not rotate the sugar bowls at the tables, so ours had a spoon hardened with sugar, because someone has obviously used the spoon in their tea. After taking away our plates, the server cleared our tea out, without asking, before some of us had finished. The space is really crowded and the choice of dishes was really inconvenient- our scones came in cages. The food was not a complimentary mix! For example, there was a tiny pink pancake with kale pesto as one of the savory treats... Towards the end, the server came by to let me know she was bringing the debit/credit machine for payment. I had paid online already, so I was confused for a moment, until she said 'it's for gratuity'. When she brought me the machine, she told me to 'just put in the right amount and pay'. Overall, I would not recommend. You'd have a better experience ordering your favourite items from a local bakery and making a pot of tea that you can actually drink, at home with friends.

The food was really, really great! My friend and I ordered the WAP, brisket benedict, and wicked waffles! So yummy! I don’t normally leave suggestions, but I would suggest the restaurant to stagger reservation times. We were rushed out while I was still eating. It felt very uncomfortable. The restaurant let everyone in at 10 AM (I’m guessing everyone had 10 AM reservations). Because the restaurant was full the server took our order last out of all the tables (past 10:30 AM). They served the waffles around 11 AM and the remaining dishes around 11:20 AM. Then they started rushing us out around 11:35 PM, so realistically, we had to finish the two dishes in about fifteen minutes. They handed me the bill when I hadn’t even finished my food. I think this could’ve been avoided if they staggered reservation times (maybe half the tables at 10, the other half at 10:30?). I understand that the time limit is 1.5 hours, as indicated in OpenTable, but this time limit wasn’t fair in light of the delay in service. Otherwise, the food was really good! Would recommend to others :)

Came here for brunch and was extremely disappointed. It was their drag brunch, which included a $20 “cover fee”, an automatic 18% gratuity, and a $45 “three course meal.” We ordered our food, but it took over 45 minutes for everything to come out. My food came out first but took another 30 minutes for the rest of the food at our table to come out. By the time I was eating it, it was ice cold. Their mimosas are pretty watered down and truly disappointing. As we were leaving, we realized that we never received the other 2 courses for our meal (finger sandwiches and pastries/scones). They decided to offer it as a to go, but who wants to bring home finger sandwiches and pastries/scones? Essentially, I paid $45 for an average eggs Benedict. The service was awful, they never asked if we wanted more drinks. The space is crowded (even more so with drag queens dancing around). Overall, what was supposed to be a great Sunday brunch turned into an awful experience. Definitely recommend checking out other places!

Hit and miss seems to sum this place up. The initial service was good up to ordering our brunch and afternoon tea sets, and then selecting our teas. But after that point the place started to get busy and the servers were understandably much busier, and the service did take a hit. It was difficult trying to get their attention and the brunch/tea sets were brought to us without introducing the elements (though one of the servers did volunteer this some time after when she was at our table for something else). The speed was an issue too as it took almost 45 minutes after ordering to receive our sets. I had to extend our street parking from 1.5 hours to 2 hours. Keep in mind that the max street parking in front was 2 hours and we finished with no time to spare. The croissants were good and quite tasty, especially liked the filling. The scones were dry and hard. Had to smother it in jam to get it down. The toast was really bad. Just so dry and hard that I couldn't continue. Barely any butter, jam or really anything on it. There was a pastry with green "custard" but I found it less custardy and more liquidy as it was running over the sides. Very heavy condensed milk flavour but nothing else. Found that one weird. The atmosphere was nice and the recommended teas were quite nice too. All in all keep expectations low when you visit. If I do visit again, I would order only the savoury croissants, nothing else.

Went for afternoon tea with friends. The place and overall experience were cool. The sandwiches, scones, and sweets were good (eenough). We could have done with slightly smaller portions, or at least sandwiches without thick crusts. But we were able to bring the leftovers. Although they offered smoked salmon and their interpretation of the egg salad, for me, it was missing the infamous cucumber sandwich and most importantly the Devonshire cream. There was one dessert served in plastic cups with plastic spoons, which did not fit the experience.

My wife and I did the brunch special with unlimited Prosecco for 55$/each. We left greatly disappointed. The only thing that saved the day was the unlimited alcohol which we might have drank about 4-5 flute each. The music playing was Reggae which doesn’t really work with the atmosphere. The server we had wasn’t making it a good experience for us. They served us 4 plain scones for the both of us that tasted more like cookies. The amount of preserved provided was not enough. The Benedict pulled meat was ok but like I said good thing it was unlimited alcohol. To finish it all they served us 4 mini one biter dessert for the both of us. I prepaid everything online and when we left I asked to pay gratuity. We I received the machine the server inputted an automatic 18% gratuity and that asked to add another tip on top of it which I found really insulting. I really wanted it to work out but something was missing for the 149.60$ we paid for two.

Wonderfully unique and classy atmosphere, perfectly fitting for a tea party experience! My wife and I loved the delicious assortment of teas, and the afternoon high tea was both beautifully presented and extremely tasty. We’ve been to many places serving afternoon tea and Vanitea immediately secured itself as a favourite; often times there tends to be too much of a focus on the confectionary part of the meal over the savoury part, or the other way around — or the scones might be somewhat lacking in freshness and quality — but Vanitea managed to really knock it out of the park with all three. The price was also very reasonable! Thanks so much, we both can’t wait to come back again in the future! EDIT: We’ve since come back to Vanitea again since our last visit, and it was just as awesome the second time. The staff was incredibly accommodating to my elderly grandmother, as well as one of our guests who has a deadly peanut allergy. Also, all of the savouries and sweets were brand new, which makes the prospect of returning again and again a very exciting one!

Disappointed and not worth the money. Came here for a date expecting a lot more. we pre-booked a 3 course meal with bottomless prosecco costing around $65 a person or $127 in total. Upon arrival the moment you walk-in to their indoor dining you are standing in the middle of the "dining room" there is no host stand or host/server near the door, on top of that the space is small so if someone in standing there you have to back up in order for someone to walk by you (making you back into tables/someone else) Therefore, we were waiting for someone to help us which took a good 5-10 mins as the three servers that were there were all too busy, one was on patio, one was talking to someone and one was in the kitchen/bar. None facing you or acknowledging you once entered. When they finally noticed us it was still a bit of a wait to get seated. When we got seated we were disappointed as we were sat at this plastic small table with a gold table cloth and very very small plastic chairs (They for sure had better tables that had cushion chairs and seats) The seat not only was uncomfortable but looked like they just sticked it in a corner to make "Extra seating" (advised that there were tables leaving/has payed the bills but we were not offered to wait as we noticed they were also struggling to decide on a table to give us) it only got worse from there as service was horrible, we were given a seating limit (which is understandable) but the verbiage given made it seem like they want us immediately up and out while other tables were allowed to stay seated after they payed their bills. We ended up not enjoying the meal as it was mediocre, AC wasn't really working and not a great overall experience. We only managed to stay there for 30 mins and the other tables that payed when we arrived were still seated with no intent to leave and as this was a prepaid experience we asked the server if anything needs to be done, they said no therefore we walked out, when exiting the door another server approached us saying "Did you pay?" when they are well aware and knew that we were doing the prepaid experience making it sound like we were walking out on a meal. DO NOT RECOMMEND rather be doing the Shangri-la Tea Room experience or actually buying from a local bakery instead.

Super cute atmosphere and furniture. The food is also very aesthetic! Unfortunately when we went the oven wasn't working and fresh scones were not available (we wanted to order the plate of six). The server gave us the option of two leftover scones from the previous day, which we took since I really wanted to try them. They were good but probably would've been better fresh. My cinnamon bun was also dry and probably from the day before given that the oven wasn't working. The savoury food was quite good however!

Have not been here in three years and wanted to give it another chance because the venue is beautiful, but unfortunately, I was left disappointed with their brunch once again. I do not recommend ordering the Brisket Benedict. The meat was dry and under seasoned, and the buttermilk cornbread tasted stale as if it had been left out for days. The hollandaise sauce tasted watered down and the garlic potatoes were mediocre at best. Overall, the dish was more sweet than savoury which was very off-putting. If I had wanted something sweet, I would have ordered their sweet toast instead. I cannot speak for the Afternoon Tea here because I have never experienced it, but that must be what is keeping them in business along with their drag show events. It is a well decorated space, seemingly great for events, but serving quality food does not seem to be their focus here.

We came for the drag brunch which has a prix-fixe menu. We only received our entrees courses. One entree came out and the rest of the table waited for over a half hour for the rest of the food. In total we waited for about an hour for our food. There are three simple options to choose from for entrees so we were surprised it took this long. No one came to check on our drink orders. No one apologized for the plates coming out so far apart. No one brought us our first course or asked if we wanted the dessert add on. This experience — an eggs benedict and one drink — was $97 per person. The bills came with an automatic 18% gratuity for this service. When we raised that we hadn’t received all the courses on the prix-fixe, we were told we could take the first dish to go. We didn’t want to continue to wait so we declined and asked if our drinks could be comped. We were told that wasn’t possible. So we each paid $97 for two eggs on vegan toast, potatoes and one watered down mimosa each. The only good part was the drag show (they were fantastic). Such potential but the kitchen and staff seemed disorganized and unprepared. Go elsewhere - there’s much better brunch at half the cost in Ottawa.

Got told the wrong thing about the food by our server and then were told we couldn’t have the bottomless mimosas we had paid for. Whole staff seemed to not know what’s going on or what the policies are. Everything was very unclear and the staff tended to disappear after we asked anything about what was going on. We were given no compensation for their mistakes even though most of us paid $75+. Even as a server who is very very understanding towards restaurant workers, this was unacceptable. The food was great but the staff were very unorganized.

An amazing brunch place owned and hosted by some very cool people. They're super friendly and encourage great dogs on their patio (they've got very cool water dishes that they'll bring out) The food is amazing! Definitely top tier brunch food with vegan options that even entice someone who loves the brisket benny. All fresh, delicious, and presented in unique, fun ways. A lively musical selection and bottomless mimosas that they're not at all stingy with refilling. This is a must try brunch place.

I want to preface my review with the fact that I rarely give less than 4 stars TLDR: between 2 and 3 stars cons: - needed to have someone who knew the owner to obtain any service -semi expensive drinks Pros: - staff is friendly and polite - great food - great atmosphere - accomodated food allergies ________________________________________ We came here one year ago for a work lunch and it was incredible. Our staff couldn't wait to go back. This year I was in charge of reservation and booking for a table of 18. We were originally told table for 20 was fine. Then I called to say it would only be 18 and I was then told we had to pre pick 3 meals but weren't instructed which menu (there are 5 or so on the website) and also not instructed if all 18 staff had to pick from only 3 options or select 3 options each. The staff were supposed to email us with instructions and the menu one week before the event. They never did (even to the day of the event). We called over 8 times and did not get an answer. We emailed twice over the span of two days asking which menu and we did not hear a response this way either. At this point I was extremely frustrated and wanted to move our reservation elsewhere. But everyone was so happy with the event last year (myself included) I stuck through it. I then sent out instructions asking our staff to pick one full meal from the regular menu. Then one of our staff mentionned she knew the owner and got in touch with them. Within an hour our reservation was confirmed & menu no longer required. Great! A day later the same employee who knows the owner came back and said menu IS required so they can plan in the kitchen - totally understandable as it was towards closing & as vaccine passports no longer required. I ended up getting everyone's order in the day before the event and things did run smoother once the person with the connection stepped in, but it shouldn't have had to be that way to have service. I was very dissapointed with the service I received while trying to plan before the staff member at our office intervened and called the owner. I do have to say when you do get in touch with someone, the staff are all polite and friendly. On the day of they were very attentive to our table and made sure we had drinks and everyone was served at a reasonable time. The food is amazing. Everyone was happy with what they ordered and they were willing to accommodate allergies which is always a huge plus. The drinks I find a bit on the more expensive side at about $15 each. The music this time was also much more appropriate. Last year they were playing W.A.P. and songs that contained many swear words. I attached pictures of my food here: the Waffle And Poulet and earl grey martini which I both really enjoyed and the Lady Bridgerton which I thought I would like but didn't enjoy despite loving gin.

Such a gem - the place is beautiful, the service was great and the food was delicious. Downside: it is small so you cannot book for large groups and it gets warm inside. The price is a little steep imo. Tip of 18% is included which is high.

I’d give it 5 stars for the experience. Lovely waitresses and the decor of the restaurant is beautiful. However service was a bit slow and the food looked aesthetic but tasted quite standard for the most part . I would still recommend to go with friends, it is still a fun experience and worth the price.

Wonderful and lovely! Stopped by while on a short day trip in Ottawa and had the best brunch! It was recommended by a friend and I was so glad they did. The place was packed and I was blown away by the menu options. I got a Benny and lavender latte, it was amazing. Would definitely recommend !!

I took my mom here for her birthday a couple weeks ago and she had SUCH a good time! The staff were so lovely, and the food was delicious! I was a little worried that it might feel crowded since we were going Sunday afternoon, but there was a good amount of space between tables and we could hear each other just fine. I would recommend setting up a waiting area that isn't right by the front door, as that was a bit awkward with people going in and out. The front entrance was stairs only, and I didn't notice a second entrance, so I'm not sure if it's physically accessible (the dining room, while spacious if you're able-bodied, wouldn't be able to accommodate a wheelchair or walker regardless). It's definitely on the pricier end, but the food was well worth it. I would definitely recommend it if you want to feel fancy for an afternoon.

And don’t know what to say. It has nothing to do with Ottawa. When we entered the place all the local setting changed to a place in Europe, Paris or maybe Rome? The place is very elegant and high class. The furniture, plates, and the chandeliers are all marvellous. The person who served us was very friendly, professional and makes you feel very comfortable and satisfied. Good taste, quality, and look are Royal class. It worth the high cost of the food ! Wait a minute, it wasn’t that expensive too ! The only thing that we did not feel comfortable with is the neighbourhood, a bit scary with a lot of police.

Great food. Despite rain and wasps the service was phenomenal. I'm not sure of the name of our server or the other young women working while we were having our brunch but they were amazing and really tried to go above and beyond to make it a really nice morning. Very tasty food coffee was great and bottomless mimosas were so fun.

My first visit here was nice. All the employees are so enthusiastic and lively, and the food were very delicious too, especially the chicken being the perfect level of juicy and tender. I do question the mimosa, bc they weren’t ‘sparkling’ as a Prosecco should. However, the second visit was disappointing. We weren’t served until past an hour, and we were rushed out when we were still finishing the food. We had less than 30 minutes to actually finish the food. The restaurant was overbooked, and the customers had to deal with the consequences. Nonetheless, the food were delicious!

Attentive service and great food in a small house decorated in such an inviting way it really does create a nice garden atmosphere for tea. The menu had so many yummy sounding options it was difficult to choose but we were all very happy with what we selected. Will have to come back to try the rest!

Had the pleasure of enjoying the patio at Vanitea for brunch. Started off with a grapefruit infused mimosa (sorry no picture, was gone too quickly!), and then had their Purple Benedict. Over the moon in love with their food, so delicious! Our waitress was so personable and knowledgeable, I will definitely be back!

We had the two vegan items on the menu. The vibe was excellent. The drinks were good but hard to drink with all the bits..how do you properly drink it with all the floaties lol. Might be a me thing. Finally the food was presented well but was quiet bland so was not impressed. Id come back for the atmosphere only.

We did the three course bottomless Prosecco brunch. Warm scones to begin, choice of Benny & desserts. The staff were on top of our drinks and as soon as we finished a drink they poured another. The courses came quickly and it was all delicious!

My cousin from Montreal invited me for my birthday. We reserved for 11:30 and chosed a brunch menu. I was surprised there was 3 possible choices for a gluten free meal. I selected the Purple Benedict and my cousin: the English Indulgent. Each of us also took a latté. We were both VERY pleased  of our choice. It  was so good! My only constructive comment, is that it would be nice to have a bilingual menu, both on the web site and in the restaurant. My cousin was not at ease to book a reservation (it was a surprise invitation) as she did not understand the menu on the web site. Same in the restaurant. She took the more traditional dish because   she could not understand the menu and there were no pictures. Myself, I worked 30 year in english but it was not related to food vocabulary so I also needed alot of explanation on the menu. It was a very nice discovery and I will certainly go back.

Went for brunch this past weekend and I was so happy and appreciative of how amazing the service was and how delicious my chicken and waffles were. We did have to wait a considerable time for our table due to how evidently busy they were, but they made up for it by sending us complimentary macarons and even prosecco! Very generous and allowed us to stay longer than their usual 1.5 seating time. As someone who has worked in the industry as a chef prior to settling down with a family, this is a very challenging time for restaurants. I have read some of their negative reviews, and all I can say to people is be kind to business owners, their staff and their struggle. They are doing their best to make us all happy! I spent a little while speaking to one of the servers who had expressed how much they were all working and very grateful to be busy, but some customers are a little mean when they are trying to keep up and catch up! All and all a very a good experience and we will be back. I hope management reads this and knows they are doing a great job! Keep it up.

Came for Drag Brunch and it was so much fun!! All the food was so delicious and beautiful from the tea to the scones to the crowaffle. Portions were perfect leaving me full but not stuffed. Our waiter and all the workers were so sweet and accommodating and the decor brought a great ambiance. The queen Devona Coe put on such a fun show and it was just a great way to spend an afternoon!

What a beautiful spot!! I had such a special experience when I visited for lunch this past week. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and what goes well together. I could see how this would be the perfect spot for people to host small events with friends. 5 stars all the way!!!

So very disappointed. A reservation was made and we were on time. The atmosphere was lovely however the service and food was not. We arrived with the place half full. We were shown our table and both tea and food orders taken at the same time. After a lot of time past we inquired several times about our order. We were told...... in a couple times, in three minutes, the Chef is just plateing it and then sorry for the delay. When asked why tables got food before us, we were told they per ordered. Interesting to note that if you know what will be ordered you are more prepared. It took them one hour and 15 minutes (4 pots of tea) to bring our food out. The food was hard and dry. I would not recommend this place.
