Pros- Located downtown and close to everything, the hotel is clean, the rooms are nice. Cons- You apparently are NOT allowed visitors at all. We came from out of town to stay and we met up with my spouse’s parents and was attacked by a woman who claimed to be the manager stating we are NOT allowed any guests in the hotel room. There was a total of 2 registered guests and 2 visiting for the day in our Parliament View King Bed Suite! Later on after eating supper alone in our hotel room, we seen countless people in different groups going to different hotel rooms, one group of 9 going to ONE hotel room on our floor. We stayed last night in room 1418. Absolutely no sound proof rooms-Once we actually went to sleep, it was parties in the hallways, constant laughing, swearing slamming doors countless times until about 5am. We came to The Westin to get away from all the hustle and bustle as we have young children and wanted a night to relax, refresh and get rest away from our children. It turned into a sleepless night! So upsetting.

A terrible customer experience. I booked a reservation to stay at the Westin through Expedia a couple weeks ago. When the convoy arrived in Ottawa I tried to reach out to the hotel to see about changes/cancellation to no avail. It was nearly impossible to get through and everyone I spoke with (at least 3 or 4 people) was short, rude, and quite frankly acted annoyed by my call. I can totally understand the stress that we're all under, but this was shocking. I will not be booking here again. Also, if you want to partner with a company like Expedia, it's terrible customer service to act as if a guest is "their problem". If you're in partnership and take ownership of that and do your best to help out, otherwise it just looks like you resent a company that brings you business. Brutal. You can do better. Mr. Meredith, in your response below you apologize for the inconvenience I experienced with Expedia, but if you read my review properly (and not assign blame elsewhere) you can see that the poor customer experience was with the staff at the Westin. In fact Expedia was very helpful.

Beautiful hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very clean and there's a few little perks in your room too. The bed was very comfortable with a variety of pillows so you can find the one that fits you best. The elevators are a little unique to operate, but once you figure it out, it's not that bad. :)

Good food and a very nice variety to choose from. Steak is a la carte and you can get half orders to mix it up a little. They have a bunch of different types of seating areas from casual to a little more fine dining depending on what you are after. Everytime I am in town I bring my mom here because she loves it, always orders the steak and it has never been anything but perfectly cooked. Drinks are nice and a decent selection of scotch which is important for me. I am never rushed here which is a great feeling. There are a lot of buisness types here and it is a nice restaurant especially in a hotel as I usually find them lacking but not this one. Come here 1x per ottawa visit.

Paid for a Dulux room. Needed a double bed. Had a king bed so only other option was to downgrade, which would be fine, but they didn't credit us for the downgrade. Ended up paying for a service that I never ended up getting. Not the right way to do business

Always a great stay, great view and close to everything. Being tied to the mall is good during the winter weather. Staff were offering great service during check in

Stayed one night in this beautiful and clean hotel with outstanding staff! Our guest room on the 17th floor had amazing views of the Rideau Canal. The room included bottled water, coffee, a mini-fridge, nice toiletries, and robes. Covid guidelines and restrictions are being followed, but we're hoping the restaurant will be open again next time we stay!

What stuck out the most, is how the service was amazing. The hotel stay was perfect for what we wanted to do…which was to be able to stay indoors and go shopping! Dinner at the Shore club was very good and so was the buffet brunch! We were just lucky to get a beautiful moon rise by our bedroom window.

Nice hotel. It is a deluxe hotel but the renovations were done maybe 10 years ago and it starts to show. Globally I had a good experience. The hotel is connected to Rideau Centre and really close to parliament hill and Byward Market. I was shocked by the number of drug addicts and homeless people roaming in the area. Not an issue in the hotel, but as soon as you step outside, they are everywhere.

EXCEPTIONAL The staff are courteous, the rooms are clean, the beds are not too soft and not too firm, the decor is updated, the views are the best in Ottawa, and the gym is unparalleled. It doesn't get better than this.👌

Amazing staff at this location. They were very nice from the check in all the way to the moment we left. They upgraded our room to the high floor with great view of parliament. Additionally, general manager sent snacks & drinks into our room. Restaurants on premise was nice and had good selection of options for both dinner & breakfast. Would definitely come back

Overall a good stay and nice staff members. Nice, clean rooms with very comfortable beds/pillows/linens. However I was disappointed with the pool and hot tub area, especially because that was the selling point in booking here. The pool section was very run down and could be a lot cleaner in my opinion. I also should mention that parking is $20 a day in the Rideau Centre underground lot.

We were here for a work event. Rooms were clean. View was beautiful. Staff for pleasant. They need to work on their elevators. When there are too many people who want to take it at the same time it stops EVERYWHERE rather than dispatch in the different elevators. We also had an issue with the AC in the room at night but the staff said they would check it when we left.

For some reason, rooms smell like smoke (o asked for a room change a couple of times). Even if it's due to the wildfires, it makes no sense for an upscale hotel to have poor or even no air filtration system.

It is a good hotel, but the elevator situation is not acceptable. Taking the stairs leads you to a terrace and no way out. The hotel needs better wayfinding and a better solution in place while the elevators are renovated.

A modern hotel in the heart of Ottawa We stayed on the 22nd floor and had a million dollar view of the canal and Parliament Hill. A walking distance from restaurants and visitors attractions. Very friendly service. A shout out to Jade at the reception desk who was extremely courteous and helpful. They have a workout room, indoor pool and hot bath tub, as well as squash courts.

Great location! The restaurant “Shore club” inside Westin is really good! Good food options and drink. Rolls were clean and specious. I would highly recommend breakfast included if you’re staying here, it is totally worth it!!

We booked a room for the Victoria Day long weekend, which for two nights was over $700. Our room was clean but nothing special - two double beds, TV, and a small refrigerator. Our biggest issue was the parking situation, which is atrocious. The hotel is connected to the CF mall, which means shared parking. It took us one hour from the moment we arrived by car to the hotel, to when we got to our room. That's because it took over 10 minutes to get through to the parking lot, and about 30 minutes more to circle and find a spot. For a "luxury" hotel, there should be dedicated parking to hotel visitors. We shouldn't be circling around the parking lot to find a spot for a $700 room charge, and at $30 parking rate per day (with no in-and-out privileges). The hotel is also not very accessible - the parking lot doors to the hotel are not automated. The other downside was that the hotel was packed; we booked it to use the pool primarily but it was too busy all weekend with kids and families. On average, it took about 10 minutes to wait for elevators. And, it was noisy on the floors; kids were running around past 11 p.m. On the plus side, staff were helpful and responsive and the location of the hotel is great - walkable to everything in downtown Ottawa. Overall, I wouldn't visit again as I don't think it's worth the price and because of the parking issue.

Great spacious rooms. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is wonderful! The ByWard market is a short walk. The Parliament building is close. There are lots of museums nearby.

Great location, connected the mall and the conference centre. We checked in and ran to the mall quickly for one thing, back in no time used the Sauna and the hot tub at the hotel and got ready for a gala we were attending at the conference centre. You can’t beat the location. Service was excellent, check in was fast, valet parking was amazing and the follow up of guest service making sure everything is good was perfect. I only have great things to say about our stay at the Westin Ottawa.

One of my best experience in at hotel. The service was outstanding. The rooms are big and clean. The front desk was so helpful. I came for a conference and all the service were excellent.

Arrival by car wasn't easy. No one there to advise and husband told he shouldn't have parked at the front of the hotel. We'd only unloaded our suitcases and queued to check in. Parking was easy, under ground at the Ridou centre, when we knew where to go. Comfy bed. Good breakfast. Hotel is well placed for visiting the parliament area, art gallery etc.

Buttoned Up. This is a very nice, though dated Westin. The service is excellent and very personal. The rooms and property is very clean. They gave ab upscale restaurant attached that is brilliant for a proper cocktail. As the hotel is a bit older, it is a bit on the dark side. Not horrible bit it is due for a face-lift. Location is exceptional.

Don't forget to use HoteITully.ᴄᴏm when booking any place. This site will compare thousands of hotel sites and usually will have rates a lot cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! This hotel is one of the most well known in the area. I've been staying here for a long time. If you stay for a few days you definitely will love it I'm sure! Great location! The restaurant “Shore club” inside Westin is really good! Good food options and drink. Rolls were clean and specious. I would highly recommend breakfast included if you’re staying here, it is totally worth it!!

Stayed there this past weekend as a celebration for a birthday. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful! The location was perfect and within walking distance to so many restaurants and attractions. The room itself was just ok for the price. There were stains on the wall below the desks, a stain on the comforter of one of the beds, the curtains were difficult to open and close (seems silly to complain about, but annoying) the bathtub plug was broken so the tub filled when the shower was on, plus some other sundry things that you wouldn't expect at this type of hotel. The beds were comfortable though and its a nice touch to be able to log into your own Netflix account on the TV. I stayed at this hotel about 20 years ago, and the room was much more comfortable and clean back then.

Beautiful hotel but they need more elevators. There should be no reason to have to wait 30 plus minutes to get to the lobby.

Nov 25 2023 was the first time that I ever gotten the chance to stay and visit the City since moving back close to Ottawa. And, it was my first experience staying at The Westin Hotel. Just like all Marriott owned Hotels, I have been treated with the upmost respect by hotel staffs and provided me with top tier service. The suite that I was assigned to, I was spoiled to being not used to such a big living area, it felt like a luxury room for the most part lol. The suite was clean, everything was well organized for upon my arrival. Cleaners and staffs hustle to make your room ready for a early check in request, one of the best things I love about Marriott owned hotels is they do their best to meet your desired requests and make your stay an pleasant enjoyable one. I can honestly go on and on how much I love Westin, it's just next level stuff. Aside from the hotel experience, I just love how the hotel connects to the Rideau Centre, you can just leave your jacket in your room and connect to the mall through the building. Being close to all amenities like the Byward Market is a plus, along with other areas within walking distance. This' one hotel I'd be sure to book for my future stays whenever I visit the city. Thanks again for making my first experience with your hotel a welcoming one.

An excellent hotel right in the heart of Ottawa! Rooms are spacious and modern. However, bathroom tiles need work, which surprisingly is very visible. Grout has come off at several places!

Great service at the Westin, as we’ve always experienced with the chain. I really liked how they were accommodating with our early arrival and they have water always available to guests. The location is quite central and it’s not too busy and noisy, which I liked. It also connects to the mall which is very handy! The room was great! Spacious and clean despite not being too modern. There are bikes you can take around the city, really nice perk!

Perfect location downtown! Get yourself a parliament view room! The views are just amazing! I have stayed at this hotel many times and you can’t beat the location we were recently here for a special occasion and they gave us a room upgrade! Rooms are clean and comfortable!

I enjoyed a very pleasant stay in one of the Deluxe Parliament View rooms while visiting Ottawa. The view from the room is incredible. It goes without saying that the location cannot be beat. It is within walking distance to all the downtown Ottawa attractions and serves as a perfect mid point for them all. Every single member of the staff I interacted with had exceptionally great attitudes and it was obvious that a focus on great customer service is a primary quality they all possess. The rooms are very clean and the bed super comfortable. It's also worth mentioning that you can connect to a mall on the 3rd floor of the hotel. Just a few short steps into the mall, you can find a currency exchange place with descent rates to get some Canadian cash. Thanks Westin, for a great stay!

Room itself was nice looking, we also had a nice view out the window. The high speed internet didnt work and it was an upcharge of $15 to get it. Our shower drain was clogged with other peoples hair and wouldn't drain. In-room coffee had an oily film after being brewed. I also asked for a microwave in the room, a day prior to arrival, to heat up baby bottles and we didn't get one. Overall, not the best experience here.

Loved the location and service. The Deluxe King Room we stayed in was decent. Bathroom was small though. However, overall loved the experience and would stay here again.

Stayed one night at this hotel. Staff was nice and helpful, but was not able to upgrade our room even we hold elite gold status. Location is very convenient. Room is spacious with nice views but it shows its age. Room service food is mediocre with very limited choices on a Friday night.

  • 4/5 Olivier B D. 2 years ago on Google
Room was nice. Bed were comfortable, although a bit too soft for my liking. Pillows were good. Toilet paper was decent. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Heated pool was a bit colder than I expected, but there was nowhere I could see the temperature so hard to say precisely. It was not too cold though, and we spent a good 45m in the pool. Disappointed that stay did not include parking or breakfast, as that generates extra fees and a degree of complication. Overall a good experience

Hotel is nice. Elevators are stupid fast but don't feel it. Staff are friendly. Parking is quite expensive but it's downtown so it's expected. Views from the 21st floor are spectacular. Shower is nice but really loud. Minor damage found throughout the room. Very clean other than for some obviously neglected areas that were aweful. No snacks available for purchase late at night. Pool was nice.

I booked on their website, and it was mentioned that you don’t have to enter any card and you pay when you get there. And as I arrived they said no reservation under this name! It was a weekend! Plus they couldn’t charge my debit card , they only take credit so they had to talk to someone to solve the problem! And they charged me extra of what was on the website. And now I have to find a last minute hotel! It’s not even worth it !

We just spent 3 nights at this hotel and were very impressed. Everyone we dealt with from the valet to front clerk to housekeeping were fantastic. I cannot say a bad word about any of them. They were lovely and went out of their way to help in any way they could. I noticed a couple of other customers were quite rude to these workers unnecessarily, so perhaps take any complaints here with a grain of salt. The room was lovely, the price was great and it was so nice to be attached to the mall! Thanks for a great stay Westin!

I didn't stay there but it sure was busy! Looked like a fairly busy place. The whole lobby was parked and had electronic car chargers on the walls, and the people were dress marvelously. I saw a fine young woman, that just got out of the most beautiful sports car and was so beautiful. Everyone else who showed up came in their best dressed. Truly gorgeous human beings 🤩🤩

Hotel is very nice and conveniently located, beautiful views from rooms on higher floors. Direct access to Rideau Center and walking distance from convention center. Only drawback for me, was that I stayed there in middle of Pandemic, winter storm, and Freedom protest. So everything else was closed. Only reason to cut down on a star because hotel failed to inform us on time about emergency lockdown in advance and we would have missed our train by 1 min. Had to walk on icy roads in middle of protest with luggage and my 8 year old son to get hold of a Taxi.

A great welcoming staff. Everybody at the front desk is very helpful. Always on top of their game. Even though they were completely overwhelmed with how busy the hotel was. My room service lady on the upper floor was very nice. She met all my needs and was above and beyond. The team at the restaurant that serves coffee from Starbucks was overwhelmed every day, but they adapted it overcome. The two ladies were phenomenal. The breakfast sandwiches were great. My hat's off to them for the busyness they had that week

There were some stains on the furniture in the room, but other than that it was a lovely stay. The staff here are friendly and helpful and just an all around pleasure to interact with. I cannot say enough about Mary-Line from concierge, Andrew from valet, Jenna from the front desk. When next I travel to Ottawa, I'll definitely stay again.

Great hotel right in the thick of things. Within walking distance of the Rideau Canal, Byward Market, Canadian Parliament buildings and more. Direct access to the Rideau Centre for great shopping options. Fantastic amenities and views of the city. Someone is always around to help you out if needed.

  • 5/5 Eva V. 1 year ago on Google
Very well located, with shared parking lot with the Rideau Center. Great for people who love shopping. Walking distance to main attractions. Very clean and modern. Good conference venue.

  • 4/5 Alex A. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing location (probably the best location possible in Ottawa) and great service. Direct access to the Rideau center is wonderful. The gym and pools are ok, but not the greatets. If your view is toward the parliment, you will enjoy one of the nicest views in Canada. One major problem is the sound proofing of the rooms. Every movement from the hallways or any noise from the Rideau street can disturbed your quite night. The low flush toilets are absolutely horrendous! Overall a lovely experience.

Fabulous location downtown. Conveniently attached to large mall. Rooms are tired and showing their age. Lobby is bleak and pedestrian access borders on dangerous. We exit and enter through the mall when walking.

I am enjoying my stay at the Westin. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the service is really good. The TV in the room has a personalized greeting, and the shower stall is roomy My only beef is the elevators make you select your room number before you enter them, which seems strange to me.

  • 5/5 J A. 1 year ago on Google
Five star experience. The service was fantastic. The food at our convention events was amazing. The location can't be beat. I had a magical stay. Just get the elevators fixed! Thank you!

Caleb at the front desk is absolutely phenomenal at his job. He upgraded us and met our needs and expectations. His customer service is top notch and our stay at the Westin has been spectacular. Of course not to forget he gave us a corner room, spacious and with a mind-blowing view. The amenities at westin are great! Thank you Caleb and the rest of the team for your service. We are looking forward to coming back to Westin in Ottawa.

Amazing location! Walking distance to most things relevant in Ottawa. Parking has no in out privilege unless you pay for valet. Due to COVID, no housecleaning until you depart your room. Be prepared to clean your own hotel room!
