I always come here whenever I visit Ottawa. You can enjoy walking around, and find yourself something to eat and drink, even some groceries, cafe, wine shops, and tobacco shops. The atmosphere here is relaxing, and chill.

This monument/attraction was installed just a few years ago I believe. As nice as it is especially when lit up at night it can be overrun with tourists and especially kids crawling all over it. 😂 No big deal really but if you’re hoping to get a photo with just you in it forget about it! You would need to go in the middle of the night or very early morning to have a chance. And you can take a photo on the other side of it to spell AWATTO. Nice little spot! 👍😎

Very pleasant place to see the Ottawa sign and the water fountain. They have amazing market and souvenir shops near here. Spend nice time in the evenings in spring and summer. Definitely visit this place. Enjoy this place and shopping in local streets!

What an incredible yet simple installation this is. Sure, every city has a sign but this one is unique with the steps in the background the lighting in the night, it’s just special and of course you gotta take a picture with it to prove that you were here in Ottawa. Don’t miss it, it’s right by Byward market and the US embassy.

Definitely recommend taking a picture here at night since it looks pretty plain during the day.

Great location! Wonderful experience! Its a nice spot in the middle of downtown. You can enjoy walking around. There’s a nice area around with lot of restaurants and bars and shops. There’s a car parking in front, you can park a car there and visit other places nearby there. Beautiful spot to take pictures 👌🇨🇦

Experiencing the Ottawa Sign at nighttime was truly delightful. The way the lights illuminated the surroundings was a captivating sight. It’s definitely a must-see for anyone visiting Ottawa, and the memories of that enchanting evening will remain with me for a long time.

Like almost every other city, even Ottawa's has its own sign. I mean as tacky as this might be for some, the area around is pretty nice - there is a water fountain, trees, benches and few souvenir shops. Definitely recommend visiting after dark, when the sing is lit up, as during the day it's rather dull.

It is located in the core of byward market. Surrounded by amazing restaurants and local stores and a lakeview garden right behind it, a must visit spot, Ottawa sign truly entices you to go and take a few selfies here! The city has also put some funky chairs around the sign where you can sit and soak in some sun (or moonlight) and admire the sign and culture around it! Thankfully for me, this was right behind my office so I went for a post lunch walk everyday while there and enjoyed the view 🤩

Nice place to sit and relax during weekdays . Weekends will be quite rushed and we have to wait a little bit to take photos without anyone around . And people will sing dance and make parties publicly sometime on weekends . There will be a relaxing chair around this place . This place has all my heart

The review is based on the Cruise experience only. Boat experience looks better than that but ..Due to child age restrictions, we could not take zodiac but have to take the cruise. Nothing is visible on the cruise as they have to maintain a distance for whale safety. The crowd will hold up top stops and it will be difficult with small kids to have them a proper look at the whales.. Those we saw were from a far away distance making it a not worth of money spent. We can have some view from inside the restaurant as due to low temperature kids wont be able to stay outside for long hours, but as soon as whales will come up crowd will block up the spot. If you are only adults try boat will be excellent experience but with little kids only option is to use cruise and i must say its not worth.

Market is great. Serves the city well in summer but lacks any kind of shade... I wish things were better and all the store were open but hopefully next summer.

We always go to this place with our dogs. It's a nice and safe walk even at night although some time it can get a bit intimidating due to homeless people.

Nice sign, especially at night when it changes colours. At weekends it might be difficult to take a photo without tourists

This Ottawa sign in the heart of the Byward market of the city of Ottawa is the place all tourist need to visit and take a snap of themselves with the OTTAWA sign to immobilize such historical moment. You will never know if the OTTAWA sign will stay there or not. Anyways i also recommend all visitors of Ottawa to go up the stairs behind the same sign and take a look at the amazing garden near the chateau laurier. Bisous to be made in May or June to see the beautiful flowers blooming everywhere. Reviewed by Tarek Belghith from RZ Network Inc Ottawa Ontario Canada

It wasn't very crowded when we went!

Great photo spot addition to the area. It’s steps away from our hotel so we went in the morning to avoid the crowd. We went the night before, it does takes a while if you hit a big group. Everyone takes turns to take 1 photo and then you have N x N combinations of photos to be taken.

Always fun, too bad Ottawa mayor and his employees want to ticket us for wanting to pose with the sign with our bikes

  • 3/5 Hai V. 9 months ago on Google
A tourist magnet. Lit up at night. Bikers like to take pics with their motorcycles there (though bylaws like to chase us ... I mean them away).

This is the sign that everyone takes photo with and can prove that He or She has gone to Ottawa. This sign gets beautiful at night because of the colors.

I fell in love with Bayward Market! The Ottawa sing and colourful stairs; lots of great pubs and restaurants with ambrosial smell; Great music; a number of street vendors to have a bite; many interesting shops to find cute stuff; Beaver tail booth; and, fresh fruits and vegetable. Lots of stuff to explore both during daytime and night!

Worth a stop by and quick photo op if you're in the Byward Market area! The sign looks pretty lit up and there are seats around the spot to sit and relax. As with any other signs you see in other cities, it can get busy with tourists, but it is to be expected!

Originally created for Inspiration Village. The Ottawa 2017 attraction drew more than 340,000 people from May to September. The letters ended up being such a draw the city decided to keep them around. The OTTAWA sign has been donated by the Ottawa 2017 organization, but its upkeep as part of the plaza will be the responsibility of the city. You can’t say you visited Ottawa without taking a picture at the sign. Hint- it looks better at night!!

The sign changes color and makes a fun backdrop for photos. There's a ton of restaurants and shops in the ByWard Market, so its a great place to visit.

Love it. Especially at night time when it's lit up. Did not need to wait longer than a few minutes for pictures as everyone was fairly quick about taking some snaps. Daytime pictures are still great. Love having it for a photo to show we came by.
