I went on open doors day and was super impressed. The British high commissioner was out greeting everyone and she was super lovely. She basically opened her house up for the public to see and treated everyone as guests. The house itself was really cool to see given its history. Overall a very nice experience.

Resident of UK high commissioner to Canada. Open house on June 4, 2022. Advance registration required for entry. They had a band playing whole day oldies and offered mini scones and mini meat pie for visitors while opened up their garden and residence to visits. Nice Victorian trimmed house with stone exteriors. Dinning room is nicely furnished in ocean bleu tone and mid 19 century style furnitures. Mix of modern and classic. The rest of house was furnished with furniture made from a small company in England, seem 1950-70 style.

Stately residence of the British High Commissioner. This building is very well maintained. It was once the residence of John A. Macdonald the first Prime Minister of Canada. The view from the dining room overlooking the Ottawa River is to die for - on that topic John A. died on the second floor. The current residents have displayed many unique artworks which lend some modernism to the rooms. The grounds are amazing, they must have a very talented Gardener.

Perhaps one day I will be in Ottawa during it's Doors Open Ottawa and can visit this long-coveted home. Please let me know if it is ever for sale or if 110 Sussex Drive ever is. Imagine being one of 2 exclusive homes overlooking the Kitchissippi River (Ottawa River - Rivière des Outaouais). I would welcome being invited for a swim.

I visited for Doors Open Ottawa, and I had such a great experience. The residence itself was gorgeous--as was the garden space--but the real highlight was meeting the British High Commissioner. She was so friendly and welcoming, and her staff were lovely enough to offer visitors lemonade and ice cream. I will always cherish the memory.

Open to the General Public on Ottawa's Doors Open in June, this is one of the highlights. Basically the sister houss to the falling apart 24 Sussex, this house has been beautifully maintained. The gardens are exquisite.

Beautiful! Really well done for Doors Open Ottawa and the Queen's Jubilee. Welcomed by the High Commissioner and thanked her for her hospitality and for the band playing music from hits from my youth. She laughed and also commented they were from her youth as well and we both agreed that they were great! Excellent nummies were sampled & sipped and the interior of the home itself is historic and stunning!

(Translated by Google) This sculpture is beautiful! Represents five women who decided to write a petition asking for clarification regarding the word "people" mentioned in section 24 of the British North America Act. Their intent was to receive a positive response, that women be considered as "people" in so that they can be elected to the Senate. The response from the Supreme Court of Canada was negative stating that women were not regarded as people. (Original) Questa scultura è bellissima! Went for Doors Open. Not terribly interesting compared to Laurier House, the Mackenzie King Estate or Rideau Hall, but neat to see the room where Sir John A. died, the dining room and the grounds given the site is usually closed to the public.

(Translated by Google) Cool! It is a monument in the Canadian Parliament Assembly as a tribute to female emancipation. It is on the right side of the main building. It may go unnoticed for anyone not in this direction. Despite the seriousness of the subject, it promises funny pictures. (Original) Bacana! É um monumento no conjunto do Parlamento Canadense em homenagem a emancipação feminina. Fica ao lado direito do edifício principal. Pode passar despercebido para quem não for nesta direção. Apesar da seriedade do assunto, promete fotos engraçadas.

Worth a visit if you find yourself in Parliament Hill. Beautiful statues of the Famous Five, the brave women who did more to advance women's rights in Canada.

Really appreciate when a women's monument is so front and center in a country's capital. Love how they're all arranged in a circle so that the conversation can continue.

Created in 2000, this monument is a tribute the Famous Five: Irene Parlby, Louise McKinney, Nellie McClung, Emily Murphy and Henrietta Muir Edwards, all from Alberta. Until 1929, women were not considered persons under Canadian law. This statue depicts a scene from Canadian history. Here, five exceptional Canadian women who led the fight for legal recognition as persons have just learned that they'd won.
