Everything about this hotel is excellent! The location is superb, you can walk to all attractions. This boutique hotel was super charming outside and inside! We had a room with a balcony and everything was just perfect. It was impeccably clean, the beds were comfortable, it had a kitchenette with a coffee maker and a tea kettle. Moreover, it was a nice and rate touch to have slippers and a robe!! I like the fact that there was no carpet also. And having a nice hot breakfast was an amazing feature. It was super delicious with hot options of eggs, bacon, breakfast sandwiches and sweets and yogurts. I loved the breakfast! So in conclusion, it is an awesome hotel, a true gem, you will enjoy your stay!! Loved it

Overall experience was really good! Clean room and bathroom. The breakfast was good - choice of tea, coffee, croissants, muffins, juice, yogurt, eggs, warm sandwiches with eggs. Parking: yes, it is not spacious but I have a mid SUV and it was ok (I saw there even a Van). There is 9 parking spaces. All the bars, restaurants are just a few minutes away from the hotel - location is perfect. This is my new favorite place hotel in Ottawa!

We enjoyed our stay there. The staff is very polite and professional. The location is convenient, although the underground parking is very small and presented as a challenge for our SUV. The place is calm and peaceful and clean, and the breakfast time was very pleasant. I really enjoyed the mini kitchenette in our room: very convenient! The only things I would improve would be to attend to the musty smell in the room (didn't see any mold though), to make sure the floors are not sticky (really appreciated the laminate flooring rather than the carpet), and the 2 twin beds mattresses could be changed for more comfortable/padded mattresses. I would also like a warmer cover/comforter. I brought these suggestions to the staff at the reception, and these were well received, so this is good. The price was good for the quality we received.

Very good location for exploring the city center and for dining. Somewhat noisy neighborhood, though inn is quiet. Beds are OK, rooms are clean and very functional. Air conditioning works well, but unit is noisy, difficult to sleep with it on. Breakfast is good, the usual choices. Staff are helpful, easy to deal with. Overall a very good value.

Great location in the Byward Market and great service during our stay. The rooms were a bit dated and only having one elevator, you had to wait at times. The parking garage was also very tight so it was hard to manoeuvre with a larger vehicle. Breakfast was nice. Good for the price.

I stayed at ByWard Blue Inn in December 2022 during my visit to Ottawa. This hotel has great location: close to US embassy(less than 10-minute walk), and close to ByWard market with easy access to variety of food and malls. Staff at front desk are all super nice and willing to help. Breakfast is also great! Highly recommended!

Good place if you are coming to get your visas stamped by one of the consulates. There is no security deposit at this place. Checked in late night yet got perfect experience. The breakfast was decent for the price

Centrally located. Friendly, clean, well equipped room with fridge, sink, coffee machine & microwave oven. Lots of plug points. Nice soap & shower items provided. Milk & butter portions. Our room had a verandah. Unsure if there is wheelchair access but you can always ring to ask. - Owner responded, there is wheelchair access. Elevator available. Breakfast was good, continental or fried. Gluten free bread available. Friendly service.

What a cutie place. When you enter it smells amazing! There is no carpet, which I liked. The staff, Abdul received us with a warm welcoming, and nice chatting. Everyone was friendly. The inn has beautiful paintings everywhere you go, including in the stairs, this inn has personality. In our room, lots of space, again smelled clean, no carpet, everything was spotless, even the shower wall, very clean! They take good care of the place. I recommend this place to anyone, and when coming back to Ottawa will always come back to this place. Breakfast - the breakfast was included and is delicious! They have bread, croissants, some meat and eggs, fruits, dairy stuff and coffee. Perfect for a great start for your day! Parking - I was able to park in their garage with a small SUV, for $15. There was only one spot available, and there were 6 or 8 spots in their garage. Very safe because they have cameras and it is open to the public. No trucks or tall cars, ask them and tell the size of you car. Public parking - you can park for 15 min in front of the inn to check-in, ask for their parking. If there are no spots available, you can drive for 10 meters and enter a public garage! If you look on Google maps, there is a garage in the same block, just two houses/buildings away. Maximum parking in that garage is 72 hrs if you leave your car there, and cost I think per day $12. Pros - price, friendly staff, clean, delicious breakfast included, spacious rooms, safe and walkable location, comfy bed with nice pillows, modern and local art hanging everywhere, easy parking situation, delicious shower and soap - I felt fancy! Haha Cons - none!

Great value and even better location! Only a couple of blocks from the heart of the Byward Market. About a 15 minute walk to Parliament. Rooms were clean and sufficient, only problem was our air conditioning unit was super loud and wasn’t working well so the room was quite hot at night. Breakfast being included was a perk! Very friendly and accommodating staff, will store luggage if room is not yet ready or after you check out. Overall would recommend this place for a comfortable and convenient stay in Ottawa!

We needed accommodation for a family of 5 in Ottawa for a couple of days the week of Family Day and the ByWard Blue Inn was perfect. The staff was very attentive from the time of booking when Abdul answered all my questions and throughout my stay. The breakfasts were very good with bread, croissants, coffee, eggs, bacon, juice and fruits and the dining room staff was also friendly. The room was a Suite with two rooms with a Queen and Double bed and an additional bed. It was clean and well maintained. The location is excellent very close to By Ward Market and many places to eat. A public parking lot a few meters away, very comfortable. In short, an excellent choice to stay. I had read comments about being noisy rooms but not at all, the rooms were silent. As in all of Ottawa you can see homeless in the area but unfortunately it is a situation of the whole city regardless of the area, but none of them mess with you or disrespect you. I recommend this accommodation option.

Location is perfect, handy parking next door and the staff are extremely professional. It’s an older building but evident they’ve made an effort to maintain it and everything is very clean. Our room is spacious. Nice artwork throughout the hotel. Very good breakfast. The only thing that would improve our stay is the bed mattress is probably due for replacing - which is an easy fix.

I got a last minute New Years Eve reservation at the Inn for my wife and I and we couldn't be happier. The location is incredible, the hotel is very, very clean, the staff is friendly and helpful. We ended up in a ground floor room with direct access to a beautiful terrace and it was lovely to be able to step outside for some fresh air. We only live 25 minutes away from downtown Ottawa and we will definitely be coming back when we want a fun night in the city without having to drive home.

The location is great. walking distance to everything. The room was really cozy. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was ok for me but my wife doesn't eat eggs and pork, so we had to go elsewhere for breakfast. Overall, it's a great place to stay.

ByWard is a cozy, clean, beautiful hotel. They have lovely rooms, a genuinely delicious breakfast, and a great location. You’re close enough to the ByWard market to join in the fun, but far enough away that it’s not noisy. The kitchenettes in the rooms have absolutely everything you need, including wine glasses, a coffee pot, tea kettle, dishes, flatware, and more. All the staff were kind and professional. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, and would definitely stay here again!

Good location, close to everything. Only have 9 parking spots so I had to use the municipal parking. Room was clean aside from tub, which looked grungy. Walls are VERY thin and neighbours can be heard quite easily, which might keep you up at night. Front desk staff are a bit rude and not very welcoming. Overall stay was ok since I spent most of my time out of the hotel.

Loved staying here! The staff was hospitable and friendly. The rooms were cute and I loved that we had our own patio. Wifi did keep going in and out but we have service so didn't bother us at all.

Overall it’s excellent. Perfect location, with a good view if you book the balcony room, complimentary breakfast, and clean and quiet rooms. But no hot water in the morning without notice and no explanation, which makes people disappointed 🙁 I hope it doesn't happen so often.

This Inn has plenty of character and is located in the perfect area of downtown Ottawa next to the ByWard Market. The staff is friendly and always working. The rooms are comfortable, cozy, and have large balconies. Breakfast includes bacon ,eggs, cereal, fruit, yogurt and warm croissants (they are fresh, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle). Best of all, the price is reasonable. I’d stay here again and recommend this Inn to anyone who wants to be within walking distance of everything worth seeing in Ottawa.

Lovely comfy small inn, right on the fringe of chaos. The room was small, but I didn't care 2 twin beds & balcony. The balcony was perfect. We sat outside and listened to the Byward market sounds. MUSIC. PEOPLE! Sounded like Mardi gras! Go in close the door, nothing. Quiet. Perfect. Walking distance to the market. Breakfast was included & a wonderful laid out spread. Scrambled eggs, sausage fresh croissants, fruit. Good service taking plates too. My only small complaint was the maid service. They didn't take away the dirty dishes or bring clean ones. I had to go ask for more T-paper.. Everything else was great. Recommended yes

  • 5/5 Kris S. 1 year ago on Google
Room was clean and exactly as described. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great right in the heart of the market, parking convenient below the building and reasonably priced. The breakfast is a standout, nice variety and fresh even late in the breakfast window. Highly recommend.

The Byward is in a great location, the rooms were clean, service and staff very friendly and helpful. Overall experience was really goood! The breakfast was yummy and freshly made - choice of tea, coffee, croissants, muffins, juice, yogurt, eggs, warm sandwiches with eggs and very flavourful potatoes/fries. Great walkable location, and there are a lot of food options nearby.

Amazing non-chain hotel that's close to everything. The breakfast is included and very good with a wide range of hot and cold choices. Parking at the hotel is limited and if you get a spot practice parking in a very small spot with limited maneuverability before going. 😁

  • 5/5 Shari T. 7 months ago on Google
Great location on a quiet street just steps away from the byward market. Rooms and service were really good. The free breakfast had adequate choices and tasted great. The coffee could have been stronger and a few more vegetarian options would be great! All in, I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for good value with a great location!

Clean, comfortable, if a bit aspirational in its self-presentation. The staff are warm and friendly. The breakfast is nothing fancy but plentiful and perfectly edible. Quiet location that is within walking distance of a rather large array of restaurants and shopping. 10-minute walk to the O train.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at ByWard Blue Inn, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. The hotel truly excelled in several aspects. - Positives: Breakfast Delight: The breakfast served was exceptional, particularly the egg and cheese sandwich which was a delightful start to the day. Helpful Staff: The employees were not only helpful but also maintained a positive demeanor, making the stay more comfortable and enjoyable. Prime Location: Its location is a significant advantage, offering easy access to local attractions and conveniences. Well-Equipped Rooms: The room was impressively equipped with essentials like a microwave, refrigerator, and the added luxury of a balcony. Convenient Parking: The parking facility was convenient, adding to the overall ease of the stay. - Negatives: I'm pleased to report that there were no negatives during my stay. In conclusion, ByWard Blue Inn is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and excellent service. I wholeheartedly recommend it and look forward to my next stay.

A great place to stay! Skating on the canal vacation, this inn is conveniently located in the ByWard Market. Rooms are well equipped with a mini kitchen, comfortable bed, large balcony and all for a very reasonable price! Friendly staff and great breakfast, restaurants, shopping all nearby. Definitely recommend this place for a get away!

I really like this hotel! Its a boutique style. Rooms are very clean and well put together. The location can't be beat. Right in Byward Market. Terrific access to restaurants etc.

Every time we travel to Ottawa we stay at the Byward Blue. Easy to walk around the market and drop off your treasures before going out again. Clean, well appointed rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Daily continental plus breakfast (bacon & Eggers, yogurt, coffee/tea, croissants etc) The ONLY downside (and it's not the hotel's fault) is there is a large number of homeless in the area, but they tend to stay near the Salvation Army and local church.....and NEVER near the hotel entrance. If I would change anything.....I wish the hotel would negotiate a flat rate for parking in the parkade next door. On the weekend, it's only $8 per day.....weekdays (0600 Monday to 1800 Friday) the fee is around $3/hour.....there IS a daily maximum, but it is quite expensive. Parking on the street (if you can find it) costs about the same. During the warmer months, bicycle rental is available close by, and there's a new powered scooter service on town which is literally pick up where you see one/drop off at your last stop (a scourge to residents of the city but an easy was to get around)

Dated. I felt it could be sanitized better. For example it was not busy but every time you opened the front door someone should be sanitizing the handles.. Beds okay. View fabulous and location fabulous. Breakfast okay a better variety should be offered. Fresh fruit not canned, perhaps some baking. Rooms were clean

  • 5/5 Will O. 2 years ago on Google
Staff are exceptionally friendly and the room was very clean. The bed was super comfortable, and you can’t beat the location. Parking spaces are limited, and a little tight for larger vehicles but there is an additional parking garage next door so no issue there.

  • 5/5 Mario I. 2 years ago on Google
Location, Location, Location. Cannot overemphasize that, this place is right in the hart of the old town. You can go walking towards the main attractions in the city (parliament, museums, food). There is a route that you can follow to see the main places and the hotel is very close-by to it. The rooms were comfy, despite not having A/C (there was a plug-in unit - not as cold though). The bathroom was spacious and everything was very clean. The building is old, but it is well taken care of. There was parking spot for our car, so we did not have to pay extra for this (at the time). Overall, I strongly recommend this place, if you want to stay close to the old town area. Please, be advised that this is not luxurious but you are getting a bargain for the price.

Cute, clean, suites. Balcony added bonus. Half a block from Byward market, perfect spot.

Really great place to stay! Everything was perfect. It’s good for families but one thing to keep in mind that it isn’t stroller friendly due to some steep stairs leading up to the hotel so it’s best to keep your stroller in the car instead of taking it up to your room. But even that isn’t a big deal at all. The owners and staff are really kind which is a big plus during these times. Thank you very much and we can’t wait to be back!

The inn is really cute. The rooms are very well equipped and turned out to be just as advertised. Cleanliness was 10/10 in the room, common areas, and breakfast lounge. The place isn’t fancy but it’s well decorated, clean, and maintained well. It’s close to all the stuff you’d want to do in Ottawa as a tourist plus parking next door is cheap and abundant. Breakfast is actually pretty good and the spread was great! Really like that they avoid single use bottles, cups, etc.

We had an amazing stay here after being effectively left stranded when our AirBNB host forgot that we were coming. Raj at the front desk was super accommodating despite it being 3am and found us a great room for an awesome discount. There's free breakfast every morning and some amazing lemon water. The rooms are cozy and have every amenity you could need. We'll be back again for sure and are so grateful to have stayed in this gem of a place!

My daughter and I booked very last minute got the last room available. What a lively well kept clean and friendly place to stay. From the check in to the complimentary breakfast… nothing like we expected. Coffee, many choices of teas, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, egg and cheese in a English muffin or sausage egg in an English muffin, croissants all the trimmings, heated plates, lovely waitress. The room was spacious, bed super comfy, cute little table for two to eat at, tv, desk with a lamp, lots of storage, kitchenette with everything you could want, wine glasses, cups, glasses, microwave, mini fridge freezer, complimentary water, clean clean and well stocked, with anything you need!! ABSOLUTELY would highly recommend and definitely stay again. Hidden gem!!

Rooms are clean and well kept, the location has many restaurants and places to walk to. The staff are friendly. For the price I don't think it gets better. The best description of the room and facilities I can think of is, think of a well maintained old apartment building. Occasional creak here and there but everything is solid.

  • 4/5 Josianne M. 2 years ago on Google
We stayed here from April 3rd to 6th for a couple holiday and had a nice experience. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast buffet generous (bacon, potatoes, eggs, cereals, yogurt, toast, etc.). The personnel was also friendly. Also, the location is excellent. I'm giving a 4 out of 5 because the door to the balcony was a bit damaged and let in a bit of air + noise from the outside.

  • 5/5 Tracy C. 2 years ago on Google
This place was great. Location excellent right in the Market. We walked everywhere. Very quiet rooms, very clean, excellent breakfast - staff were attentive and polite and parking was $15 for 24 hours - excellent for a city !! Amazing. Great low price and had everything we needed. Thanks

This little gem of a property always gets better every time i visit here. The front desk staff are great and extremely efficient. They are all awesome at there position at the desk but Abdul is so kind and a real pleasure to speak to when passing through the lobby. The location, rooms, dining area and the exterior of the property are always clean and well kept. Nothing negative to say whatsoever. Thank you

Good location with a cheap overnight parking on the side. Surrounded by some popular good restaurants. Good view on the top floor balcony. The only thing that makes me feel sad is, it didn't have toothbrush in the room. The dryer in the room is old and inefficient. They won't cost the owner a lot but will make a big difference to save time for the travelers.

  • 5/5 Laurie A. 1 year ago on Google
The location of this hotel is perfect for visiting Ottawa. Clean and fresh, right in the Byward Market but close to other National museums. We left the car in the garage just next door and walked everywhere. The added bonus was breakfast every morning. A basic hot breakfast of eggs, bacon and home fries but prepared well and kept us going for a day of sightseeing.

  • 5/5 Shawn R. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice place your room is like a little apartment. The rooms come with balconies back of the building you have a nice view of a huge church and front you have a view of the city and can just see the parliament building. Their complimentary breakfast is perfect just enough for what you would want in the morning. The best thing of all about this place is the location tons of bars and restaurants with in walking distance. Been here 3 time and will continue to go back when visiting Ottawa.

Everything is good about this place. Location, staff, service. Very helping and super friendly staff, clean rooms ( the only place in Canada that I have seen to put slippers in the room for guests!), acceptable and good quality breakfast ( just please put some cheese for breakfast). Amazing location. Definitely come back.

The hotel is cute, and cozy. It's very clean, and the staff is nice. Continental breakfast included. I love that they had balconies, that was great. It's close to everything, food, and entertainment. It's a 10 min walk to the parliament.

This hotel is in a great location close to restaurants, Parliament and the National Gallery. The rooms are equipped with a kitchenette and thoughtful items like milk and cream in the fridge. The hot breakfast is very plentiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. We slept comfortably and the room location was quiet. A great place to stay when visiting Ottawa.

I prefer supporting independent hotels, which is why I chose this location. It has a quaint atmosphere, with fun paintings decorating the halls and walls. The rooms are well kept and clean, and each come with a balcony that either overlook the street or the rooftop terrace. Our suite was described as a queen and a double, but we're pretty sure they were both doubles. However, it was a small inconvenience and the beds are comfortable. The best feature of this hotel is it's location. It is less than 500m from the Byward Market, a lovely area for food and drinks during the day, and quite a lively one at night when the bars open. My stay was due to a music festival that was going on during the long weekend. On our first night there we stayed in, and decided to listen to music while we chatted and played card games. We had thought it was an appropriate level since we were able to have conversations, but turned it down after the first warning from the front desk. The second warning we received, we turned off the music altogether since it was almost 10, and then the concierge typed up and delivered a letter informing us we would be evicted without refund if there was another complaint. I understand the need for respecting neighbours in a hotel. However, the staff treated us as though we were throwing raging party instead of talking too loudly before midnight. The threat of eviction without refund on a weekend where there were no other accommodations available was quite drastic and for that, I would not recommend a stay here, unless you go to bed at 9pm.
