Definitely not a 4 star hotel - I’d rate it more like a 2 star. Room had 2 beds didn’t even appear to be queens as advertised. Shower had barely any water pressure, sink was cracked. Not the cleanest place either. No fridge, no microwave, and very small and dingy. Price gouging going on for the weekends where they charge 2 1/2 times more. Worth $100 a night at the most not $319. Parking is another scam at $25 plus tax for an outside place in the back that is not well kept either. Wouldn’t return to this place or recommend it far better places to stay

Wonderful service, room, and experience. From the first day they welcomed us and our pup with the best customer service received in years. The rooms are quaint but for sleeping and relaxing after a long day comfortable. The lounge staff though a bit slower were pleasant and helpful with a drink choice or for a glass of wine. We will be back and recommend this hotel for any duration of stay!

Lis, the front desk attendant, absolutely made my stay. She was extremely accommodating and helped me out of a pickle. Very friendly, professional and efficient. I would stay again just based on her. Additionally, my room was upgraded upon arrival (without asking) and the room service was tasty. A well run little hotel at a good price point in downtown Ottawa.

Room is clean but prepare to be awoken when people are in the hall, woke up several times due to people not even being loud but just talking in the hall poor design. Nothing to eat or drink late night is close to this hotel so be prepared to stock food or bring with you if you get hungry at night. No bottled water in room or drinks in fridge. They do have parking but it's very tight to drive into, overall great safe basic hotel nothing fancy. Overall great place to sleep and value, would not stay here again.

This is such a decent and pleasant hotel. I don’t know why some people have rated it very low and negative. The room was very spacious, clean and convenient and the location is excellent and very friendly stuff. I was there for Canada Day celebration and even though the hotel was fully booked and busy, It was very quiet!

My daughter and I stayed the weekend recently. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfy. When we checked out, we were able to stow our luggage at the hotel while we spent the day in Ottawa, that was so convenient. It’s conveniently located to tourist attractions. I will definitely stay here again.

This hotel functions differently from others, cleaning fees are not included in your quote. The policy of this hotel is to charge for cleaning fees called ‘sustainable fees’ for each night of your stay. However, my room was not cleaned during my 3-night stay. In this case, it probably should have been a fixed fee per stay as the cleaning crew only comes after your departure. Also, you get charged for ‘valet parking’ which is not the case: you park your car yourself, and must walk outside to come back to the hotel. It should just say parking available. Some misleading information/description which should be corrected. Other than that, the hotel is well located.

Read in reviews that there was no hot water. I just had a steaming hot bath?? The staff have been amazing!! The room is clean albeit tiny. Big enough for the 2 of us. Love the location. As a coffee addict I was happy to see a keurig 😁

I only ever stay at 4 star plus hotels and I was very disappointed in this hotel . My room had dirty tissue on the floor from previous guest , the hot water kept switching from cold to hot mid shower . The rooms are very small and the bathroom is super tiny. The staff told me I can have a late checkout upon arriving and then night worker told me I don’t have one . I also forgot my straightener for my hair there and I received no phone call to inform me that my item was left behind and the housekeeping staff is impossible to get a hold of , I called so many times and nobody is helping me . I’m assuming housekeeping staff just attempted to steal it and that’s why I didn’t get a phone call .. I will not return to this hotel ever again . Not worth the price for what you get .

This hotel is a quiet and clean place to stay with courteous and helpful employees. I’ve stayed there a few times and it’s fast becoming home away from home for me. The proximity to my office, restaurants and major places in Ottawa is my greatest draw to this hotel as well as the price point.

Great Location! I check out tomorrow and I'm happy with my choice, I work as a hotel front desk manger and was happy with the check in process. The room is small but spacious, with the wardrobe and bathroom tucked around the corner, bathroom is large. Water takes a while to heat up but that is expected in a larger hotel, staff are friendly. only complaint is the noise from the hall carries through the door but I think this could easily be fixed with a blocker to cover the small gap under the door :)

Great hotel and location with reasonable pricing. We stayed in a corner suite which was spacious and clean. I like that they are pet friendly as well. The best part about this hotel is the service/staff! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The valet or concierge was extremely helpful. I wish I could remember his name. I booked again to stay but had to cancel day of, and Barun at the front desk made it so easy after I got the run around from Hotels.com. The only negative I could find was the lack of water pressure in the shower. I’d stay there again in the future for sure though

My recent stay at Arc the Hotel in downtown Ottawa left me with a less-than-pleasant experience, and unfortunately, I won't be returning. While the hotel's location in the downtown core is convenient, the size of the rooms was notably smaller than what I've encountered in other hotels within the same price range. However, what truly soured my experience was the cleanliness of the rooms. The bedsheets and towels were dirty, and despite promptly notifying the front desk upon our arrival, the hotel's cleaning staff were only available until 2 pm. Exhausted from our journey, we unintentionally slept through the afternoon, and by the time we were awake and ready to address the issue, it was too late for any corrective action. To add to the disappointment, the front desk failed to provide us with any viable solutions. No option to change rooms or any offer of a discount was extended, leaving us stuck with subpar conditions for our entire stay. This lack of responsiveness and customer service was disheartening. Adding to the list of drawbacks is the hotel's parking situation. The $25 per night parking fee is already steep, and the fact that it operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no guarantee of availability upon returning to the premises is inconvenient and frustrating. Overall, my experience at Arc the Hotel fell far below expectations, and the issues with cleanliness and customer service were particularly disappointing. With numerous other options in the area, I won't be considering a return visit to this establishment.

My stay at Arc The Hotel was truly delightful. The room was exceptionally clean, and the hotel maintains a serene atmosphere even in the bustling Downtown area. Fortunately, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to the Romantic Luxury Suite, which added extra meaning to our 3rd-anniversary celebration. A heartfelt thank you to the Arc team for their outstanding customer service. We will definitely be returning next year!

If you are looking at this hotel because it is a good price, then go for it! If you are looking for a modern, full-service hotel, keep looking. The building is an older building, which has not been fully upgraded. The check-in clerk was friendly and entertaining. The bed was comfortable. Three coffee shops at the end of the street (Tim's, Second Cup, and Starbucks). We stayed 4 nights in a "corner suite", which had tiny windows, so the room was dark (not a lot of natural light). The light bulbs in the room were "bright white", almost fluorescent. Our bathroom sink was cracked. You can hear people in the other rooms speaking clearly and TV noises. The heat pump makes a loud noise when it kicks on (including in the middle of the night). The furniture is worn out. The room service we received on the first night was promising as the food was very good. Other than the first night, the restaurant/room service was closed "due to staffing issues", which meant we had to leave the hotel for food. The cleaning staff was inconsistent with restocking clean towels, coffee, cream, and sugar. In fact, I had to ask them for these to be restocked. One day the bed was not made, but the coffee was there. As for in-room coffee/tea, I did not have coffee the first day, left a note for coffee, and had coffee the second day, but no sugar or creamer, so I left another note for coffee and sugar and creamer, so on the third day I was able to have a coffee in the room. The parking is sketchy, and the first night there were no available spots for parking, the parking garage is full of old carpets and maintenance stuff, taking up many spots. So I physically cleared a spot for my car. Finally, on check-out we go through charges, all good. Two days later, I see an additional charge from the hotel for $150, when I inquired, it was because they forgot to charge the parking on my check out. Book this hotel with full knowledge of what to expect and you will not be disappointed. It was a good price.

One of the least pleasant experiences I have had with any hotels so far - and this place is no way a 4-star hotel. Let's start with the biggest issue first: UNAUTHORIZED CREDIT CARD CHARGE We didn't want to pay $30 for valet parking so we parked at a different parking lot around the block next to the library that's only $15. When we checked out from the hotel there was no mention of any charges from our stay. When we returned from our trip I noticed a charge from the hotel that we didn't recognize. I emailed the hotel thinking it could be a simple mix up by the staff, maybe he confused us with some other guests, etc. just needed them to refund me and it's a quick fix. Boy was I wrong. After sending two emails to them following up on the charge, a different email address from the hotel sent me a receipt of the valet parking and said NOTHING in the email explaining anything. I even provided the address of the other parking lot and proof of payment! I gave them ample time (2 weeks!) to follow up and I also wrote to follow up with them 4-5 times because I did not receive any replies other than that one receipt. I'm not sure if I'm more baffled by the fact that they are charging people's credit card without authorization, or the total lack of response to my inquires. Calling the credit card company to dispute the charge as I write this review. I will also be filing a formal complaint with BBB. Other issues are already mentioned by other reviews, rooms are not clean, old, and dark. The pictures you see online are deceiving. Bed was uncomfortable. The female staff at check out was very friendly but the male staff at the front desk when we checked in had such a terrible attitude.

Had a great time during my 2 night stay. This hotel is fairly central to a lot of tourist attractions. Parliament was a short walk away and I believe Byward market is within walking distance, but it was a less than $10 Uber ride away. We had a corner suite room which had a lot of space. Bathroom was a tough too small, but otherwise the room was great.

I was very disappointed with my stay at the Arc the hotel. First I have to say that the rooms are nice and clean and the hotel employees are very kind. However, the hotel is very poorly soundproofed, I could hear the occupants of the next room perfectly, their discussions and their snoring. My shower whistled when the occupant of the next room used his and it was loud enough to wake me up. The AC was probably one of the noisiest I've had in a hotel room, I had to turn it off to sleep. I was told that the hotel is going to be renovated next year and I think it is more than necessary. My disappointment also comes from the mini-fridge which was defective. I notified them fairly quickly after my arrival, but it was never repaired or changed. I had planned to use the fridge during my stay and lost food because of it. So, I will hesitate to return to this place on my next visit to Ottawa.

Stayed at the hotel two days back. Check-in experience 10/10. People at desk very helpful and I stayed in so many hotels but front desk people are maintaining standard. Well dressed and groomed specially front office manager ( Akash) and team.

I was there for a 3 day business meeting and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, going out of their way to accommodate special requests that we had. The rooms were kept very clean and the shower pressure was perfect. The location was amazing.

Decent rooms, rooms were clean. It's located at core downtown. Easy commute if your work location is nearby.. their parking lot entrance is quite small, good enough for small cars.. I found price bit expensive against the services they provide at hotel.

The staff at this hotel are exceptional. They were welcoming, warm, professional, and proactive. They helped us find outstanding outings during our stay. A member of our family sustained a knee injury while out in the city, and the staff repeatedly brought fresh ice to the room and helped us out to our car when it was time to leave. I would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ottowa.

Clean, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff. The bath robe and slippers were a nice touch. Suggestion: add a hook for the robe in the bathroom. Only complaint is the loud fan on the heater. Room temperature was well regulated, but it was like sitting next to an airplane engine when the fan kicked in.

My BF and I stayed here for 2 days and we had a great time. This hotel is walking distance from the ByWard Market and the Parliament & Government buildings. The price and value is great. We liked the bed and bathroom. Would recommend!

The staff was very helpful and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spotless. I appreciated the size of the desk. Interestingly, the fridge has a key. There was some hair in some of our sheets, but that's nothing out of the ordinary. The TV in the room was very off center with the bed and to watch it we had to turn it, though it was still not very comfortable to watch. The air conditioning can be quite distracting to folks with sensitive ears.

What amazing staff! Always helpful, energetic, courteous, go the extra mile people! From the front desk to the concierge the check in and parking was handled flawlessly. The restaurant was delicious with great servers and impeccable food. The cocktails were a delightful treat. I can't recommend this hotel enough!

My husband and I took advantage of a Travelzoo offer for a discounted stay with breakfast coupon and welcome drink at Arc Hotel in Ottawa. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The breakfast was delicious. I would go back, and next time I would try dinner there. Location was very convenient. Walls are a bit thin, so ask for a room not adjoining another occupied room.

Very central location. Spent the night then had a training in one of the meeting rooms. Pleasant and efficient service from the front desk. Let me check in a little earlier and stored my bag during the training. Beds were very comfortable but I don't like the push in bottle dispensers in the bath tub.

Not sure why this is considered a 4 star hotel. Booked 3 nights and only stayed 2 after having dispute about parking. I requested to park outside because my hatchback on my Lexus RX350 hit the roof whenever it opened. They let me stay outside one night then said I could not park outside the third night. They said only oversized cars could park outside. Funny because one car a Buick was the same size as mine and the other two were smaller. This guy Saver upset me so much I checked out and left. See cars in pics mine was the grey Lexus

First and foremost, the staff at the Arc the Hotel were fantastic. I ordered in flowers, and they liaised with me even prior to my arrival. Their parking behind the hotel was convenient. Likewise the location in downtown Ottawa was appreciated. All the touristy areas and essentials we sought to visit were within walking distance. I am also pleased with the size and cleanliness of the suite.

Genuinely enjoyed my stay! The lady at the front upgraded our room and was super cool and chill about it! She even saw me outside confused about parking and helped me out! Staff was all super nice. Hotel itself was quiet which is awesome. Bed was so comfy. I can’t complain I enjoyed my stay :)! I will stay here again for sure.

  • 5/5 Kayt M. 2 years ago on Google
amazing experience. our fridge was not working (not a big deal) and they upgraded us to an even bigger room (conveniently on the same floor). On my elevator ride down the house cleaner made an effort to make a conversation, asking how my stay was and how my experience was going, etc - its the little things but they mean a lot. Great service, will be booking here again if i WOULD recommend anything- perhaps more lighting / cameras - some sort of security in the ally way to the parking.

  • 1/5 Vaughan C. 2 years ago on Google
Not recommended. While many things were below my expectations, the icing on the cake was the cockroach that crawled over the coffee machine the morning after our one night stay. Poor customer service, delayed check-in time, noisy floor (we were right next to the elevator and just across from the meeting rooms) vacuuming at 8:30pm, non-existent view (right next to the sign), filthy windows, the beds slept very hot, media/TV was base bones. Do not stay here. Just pay the extra few dollars and stay somewhere else, I promise you it's not worth the small savings to stay here.

  • 4/5 B D. 2 years ago on Google
Overall the experience was. The staff were very friendly, and the check in and check were quick and straightforward. The rooms though could use a bit of updating, but it was very clean.

  • 1/5 Anum K. 2 years ago on Google
No way it's a 4 star hotel! Not a very pleasant experience. Rooms.are so small.and washrooms are tiny and not very clean! We stayed in a 2 queen beds room, there was barely any space. I am very shocked that it has a 4-star rating! Not enough staff presence, no trolley was available to take the luggage up. Small elevator. Overall very unhappy!

  • 4/5 Precious C. 1 year ago on Google
It was pretty decent. I think they need to do a better job with the cleaning for both the rooms and the waiting area. The pictures on their site look a lot better than what the rooms look like. The receptionist was very kind but be aware that they charge you an extra $75 which they refund after you check out only if they decide there are no noticeable damages you made.

  • 3/5 Chris A. 1 year ago on Google
So overall this is a well placed Hotel that tries to plaster over its problems. My room was small, barely larger than my bed and with an awkward turn the corner bathroom that earmarked my room as the armpit of the hotel. Phone didn't work, barely any water pressure and a view into the office buildings 10ish feet away had me greeting office workers any time I moved. Asked the front desk about fixing my phone and was asked 'but do you need it?" When I said really did to call the front desk and ask where things like the ice machine (only located in the basement) were. As I was staying for nearly a week I asked if it was busy and could be moved to another room and was told "you get what you get!". This was almost as good a response as when I asked for local restaurant recommendations for chicken wings… "try Wendy's!". Overall it's a great location but an for the price is not in any way worth it. Service and accommodations are definately 3 start at best. I wouldn't return

  • 4/5 Beckie W. 1 year ago on Google
The staff is amazing! Kind, helpful, & professional. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, although the room are in close proximity to one another and a couple of nights I was woken up in the middle of the night by other guests returning to their room. The location is great!

I stayed here thinking all ARC's were similar. They are not. The rooms are tight but clean and well appointed and the third floor room I had was extremely quiet This is an average hotel at a premium price.

Room , though tiny, was comfortable and decently priced. But no hot water @ 11:00 am on a Sunday, faced a brick wall, and restaurant/bar closed except for breakfast

  • 5/5 Peter B. 1 year ago on Google
Nice hotel, $200+ is not for the room itself, it's simple, nothing special, showering isn't for those above 6 feet but the soaps don't dry you out. Great location to parliament and other hot spots, parking does fit a giant SUV and their in room coffee has a dairy free creamer option which is swell. Would recommend:)

  • 3/5 Natalie N. 1 year ago on Google
The room was the smallest I have ever stayed in. However, it was clean but dated. The only meal, currently available in the hotel restaurant, is breakfast but it was delicious and the service was fantastic. The front desk originally wanted me to park behind the building, I did not because it was cramped with piles of snow so we parked underground instead. Also there hotel front is all stairs so it is not handicap friendly to enter. It is stated that this is a 4 star hotel, it is not.

  • 4/5 Neil L. 1 year ago on Google
Booked 2 rooms for my band as we were playing at a near by venue. Clean rooms, friendly service and good value! Lots of parking underground and out back however pickups and most suv’s will not fit underground due to extremely low ceilings! My rating would be a 5 if they either provided a free parking spot or a continental breakfast. Regardless, I’ll likely book with them again when I’m back in town!

Staff were really nice. The room was okay at first glance then the toilet leaked, and I stepped in it...gross. We noticed we could hear everything the neighbour's were saying clear as day, they talked for like 4 hours straight, it was very irritating. Went to bed and there wasn't even a fitted sheet on the bed, it was a top sheet wrapped around the mattress. Yes we told the staff about the toilet and the noise, but what were they going to do? It wasn't their fault.

  • 1/5 Cynthia L. 1 year ago on Google
The worst horrible stay. The smallest bathroom I've seen (and I stayed in Toronto!!). Worst pillows and the noise!! OMG. No, there is absolutely no insonorisation. Never coming back. Ever.

Stayed here Feb 2023. Disappointing as a 'fee for 3rd party booking' was charged at checkout, not disclosed during check-in. Key cards consistently needed to be reprogrammed almost daily.

Great hotel and very centrally located. Our room was cozy and comfortable, only downside was housekeeping only dropped of fresh towels but didn't clean or straighten the room during our stay. Desk staff was friendly and accommodating.

  • 4/5 kelli y. 1 year ago on Google
Front desk was friendly. Checked in quickly. Price was competitive to AirBnB around the area. The room and bathroom was a decent size. The bed was comfortable. It also comes with a TV and a desk. Wifi connection was on the slower side. The only complaint was the walls are paper thin, not very sound proof. A family next door checked in after midnight, and we can hear the child talking very loudly. The occasional noise from the streets can be heard from the room. Wouldn't recommend for long term stay for the light sleepers.

My husband and I stayed in Ottawa for a special night and we loved our stay at Arc! All the staff were super friendly and provided such amazing service during our entire stay! Front desk was always smiling and welcoming 🙂 We stayed in the romantic suite and the room was extremely clean and I loved the big roman style bathtub! I would highly recommend to anyone!
