I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience with a hotel I had booked months in advance. I made my reservation well ahead of time, looking forward to a pleasant stay during my trip. However, today, just hours before my expected arrival, I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the hotel, asking for my credit card information. Unfortunately, due to being occupied with a client call at the time, I politely informed the caller that I was unable to provide the information right away, but assured them that I would be arriving later in the evening. To ensure everything was in order, I decided to call the hotel back before leaving, only to receive shocking news. When I called the hotel, I was informed that my reservation had been canceled and that they were fully booked. The person I spoke to offered no explanation as to why this had happened or any assistance in finding alternative accommodations. I was left scrambling at the last minute, desperately trying to find another place to stay in an unfamiliar city. This entire experience has left me incredibly frustrated and inconvenienced. Booking a hotel months in advance should guarantee a confirmed reservation and a stress-free check-in process. The fact that my reservation was canceled without any prior notice or legitimate reason is unacceptable. As a customer, I expected better communication and professionalism from the hotel staff. The situation could have been handled much more efficiently and with greater consideration for the inconvenience caused. It is disappointing to have my trust violated and my plans disrupted due to the hotel's incompetence. I strongly advise potential guests to exercise caution when booking this hotel. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend it. It is essential to have a reliable and trustworthy establishment that values its customers and respects their reservations. Unfortunately, this hotel failed to deliver on these basic expectations. In conclusion, the last-minute cancellation of my reservation without any valid explanation or assistance from the hotel staff has left me extremely dissatisfied. I hope my review serves as a warning to others, so they may avoid a similar unpleasant experience.

We arrived after fleeing the Maritimes from Hurricane Lee. I drove over ten hours to get to Ottawa and just wanted to relax in the room. We got into our room and found crusty, dried on food stuck to the table surfaces. The carpets, furniture, and walls the scuffed and stained. The air/heater unit didn't work. The plumbing must have been leaking as the carpet was wet coming from under the bathroom wall. Plus my wife woke up with a few bites on her ankles the next morning. That's one call going to the health department. I told the people in the office and the guy just shrugged his shoulders and didn't even offer an apology. They didn't want to refund us for the rest of our stay until he saw the look in my eyes. Do yourself a big favour and run.... don't walk....away from this place.

2 star inn so low expectations. But good bed and clean room. No blankets. But quiet night, good sleep.

I have read some of the reviews for this accommodation and I feel they are a bit harsh. People need to consider you get what you pay for in life. This inn , for its price point was wonderful. The staff I found friendly, the rooms were updated , warm and comfortable. I feel the stay was worth the price. I'm sure there is always better out there , but I feel this place was certainly worth the price point and I would definitely recommend staying here to others.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! If I could give this facility a 0 I would. What an absolutely disgusting place to stay. Front desk worker was rude and unhelpful. Prett6y much brushed off any questions we had. First night we went to our room and there were a flies all over the window, we ignored it. Then the entire bathroom and main living space mirrors were COVERED in fruit flies- we also ignored it. The as we were going to bed we noticed that there was BLOOD on the comforter. We brought it to the front desk and they gave us a thin blanket for the night. The next morning we received a duvet without a cover. The duvet looked dirty so I only slept with a sheet but my boyfriend slept with the provided duvet, the next morning we noticed that there was two massive BLOOD stains on it! DISGUSTING! Any 5 star reviews shouldn't even be considered if you're looking into staying here. It's also deceiving that it says its on the water because it's not. DO NOT STAY HERE, you'll be better off going somewhere else. 0/10!

MY WORST STAY EVER, I work in a moving company, we usually travels a lot, my last night stay in this motel/hotel , is my only worst stay ever in last 3 years, the guy at the reception is super un-professional & kinda had a racist tone specially with Indians, do not go here, they are charging more with respect to attitude they re showing. I felt so bad, i was expecting nice stay after long 16 hrs of work, but ends up with racist behaviour from this receptionist.

We stayed here for one night on October 28, 2023 It is difficult to find from the roadside and the red letters saying "INN" made us a little weary as we booked online. The staff were nice and helpful and the room was clean, somewhat updated and cozy. It was in a good location and honestly, we would comfortably stay here again. I gave it 3 stars (would have done 3.5 if i could) because: The bathroom door knob was falling off, the water pressure was low and the front door didn't have an extra lock on it. It has a deadbolt but there is a key for it, so we put a table in front of the door as a safety measure. The apples with breakfast were no longer good (they were visibly decaying). And the soap dispenser was hanging off the wall. The included breakfast was fine. Yogurt, muffins, tea, coffee and cereal. They gave us a wifi password but we didn't try it. They do ask for a $200 deposit to safeguard against unwanted damage and they voided it when we returned the key. Cozy, comfortable and warm. For the price, it was better than expected.

I have lived at many motels around Canada. I can proudly say Rideau Heights Inn is one of the best experiences I have had so far. The rooms are HUGE even with one bed. Very spacious room comes with a full couch as well. The rooms are EXCEPTIONALLY clean! I have 0 complains about my stay. To say that I have never seen a cleaner motel is an understatement. It's clean like a 5 star hotel. When you walk in the room and see the size and the quality of the furniture used, you will also feel like me, as if you have entered a 5 start hotel. The Front Desk are the kindest! I had a special request and Raja made sure he went above and beyond to meet my needs. He is so understanding and kind. The whole experience of staying here has been nothing short of phenomenal as the location is great, the rooms are big spacious and CLEAN, specially the washrooms. Thanks to Raja for making my experience here so bright and beautiful. I will recommend anyone visiting Ottawa to book their stay here. Best motel experience ever!

You get what you pay for. And I was happy with the price and what I got for it. Nothing was excellent but nothing was bad. Clean and cozy room, quiet and simple. Nice yard out front with cozy chairs to hang out and relax.

Absolutely sickening service in this establishment!.. unfriendly and not helpful or hospitable at all.. plus people/staff are living in portables behind the hotel. Wouldn’t help to print something, staff were rude when I asked to use a pen “this is the only pen we have in the hotel” (usually every hotel room has one). Staff entered my room at 8 am and didn’t notify me… wouldn’t allow me to use a washroom upon arrival while waiting for my room to be available.. ignorant tone from staff.. absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed at! I’m considering a formal report..

Property is severely neglected and multiple trees are not cleaned up, more is ready to fall and cause a problem. When I visited the eaves trough was hanging from the roof to the ground ready to fall and hurt somebody

I had a horrible experience. They gave me the password to the internet while they knew they didn’t even have internet for their rooms. I phoned and I was told, oh sorry we don’t have internet. They may come next week to fix it. There was an ongoing construction on top of my room and I was told they will eventually leave at 5 so please don’t complain. There was no iron despite my pre booking request. The stag was rude and I found a few dead bug inside my bed in the morning when I woke up! Oh the air conditioner was not working eaither. I stayed for 2 nights and requested a cancellation for the 3rd night but they didn’t do any refund. They said you booked through Expedia we don’t deal with your booking. I don’t recommend this place.

Got woken up at 8am from workers stomping on our roof, common sense would tell you it’s not a good idea to hire a work crew at a motel for 8am. Very displeased with the inconsideration for the guest. Room wasn’t the cleanest, sink was very dirty.

The reason why I gave this place a 1 star is Wifi the most important thing for most people. It either didn’t connect at all. Or kept disconnecting. Very frustrating. We had paid for an extra person and had to ask for extra towels both days and the bedding for the sofa bed. The shower head looked like it was missing. Not quite power shower. Definitely needs to be updated. Breakfast was basic cereal, muffins, yogurt, tea, coffee and juice. And fruits which was fine. Only thing I liked was the room was spacious. Wouldn’t stay here again. It was a little far out. You certainly get what you pay for. And person at the service desk not the friendliest. Second day at breakfast that person was a little better.

We stayed one night. The night the KISS concert was cancelled. The room was clean and tidy. But we had no power for the bedside lamp or clock or any other power at the bed side to even plug in Our cell phones. So laying in bed we could not even be on our phones if they were low battery. However the staff is very friendly. It's kinda a bit out of the way of the city.

They cancelled my reservation without my consent, leaving me to have to find a last minute alternative 2 days before my trip. Bad business practices overall.

I am lucky to still be alive and not badly injured after my stay at this motel. We got a key for a second-floor room, and we didn't notice that the main staircase was in the middle of the building. Instead, I went up the wooden "emergency" staircase, thinking that it would be safe. As I was on the mid-platform, it collapsed under my feet and I fell six feet down with the rotten wood planks and their rusted nails. By sheer miracle, I only had minor injuries, but it could have been much, much worse. After we did get to the room, I noticed that one of the mosquito screens on the window was popping out. Also, one of the two beds was really soft, almost to the springs, and there were no soap at all in the shower's dispenser. On the upside, the owner did come see us and apologize for what happened and waived the room's fee, but I will nonetheless never set foot there again. I will contact the City of Ottawa to make sure that any replacement staircase will be inspected and up to code.

Web said pet friendly. When I called to book, they said they don't accept pets anymore. Perfect location for my event; good price; a friend who'd stayed here recommended it. So disappointed I had to write this...

I regularly use the Rideau Heights Inn when I am teaching the motorcycle course in Ottawa. I love it. The staff have always been very good to me. I can park right by the door to my room. The rooms are always clean. The location is great. The price is very reasonable. I recommend this highly.

20 min from downtown ottawa. No traffic to go or return from Ottawa. No wifi in the room. Cheap price 120 with taxes.

The hotel staff were rude. They charged me extra for having a service animal in my room. When I had asked for towels to be sent in the morning the person at the front desk confirmed they would but did not send anyone. Mind you the entire time I didn't have the room cleaned because someone was in the room. All I asked for was fresh towels. I can't give it more than 2 stars. The only reason it isn't 1 star is because of the sweet Hispanic cleaning lady. She was very nice and welcoming.

Thanks for the helpful service Raja. I will stay here again. I have stayed here several times and experienced prompt helpful service every time. For me, being able to park right outside my room door has been convenient. And the spacious rooms were a helpful bonus for my work trips. A little extra attention to vacuuming in the nooks and crannies is a suggestion.

Quiet and convenient location. Rooms are fairly clean (mine smelt like smoke, not sure why the owner charges a $200 cleaning fee if they're not actually cleaning out the smoke smell). Otherwise, great place to stay, cheaper than most of the surrounding places.

This is a decent inn. Roj the front desk guy is a really good guy. Super helpful. Very clean place. Watched the cleaning team clean the outside light, windows and doors when They where already clean. Wheel chairs have a hard time here. My wife has a small one so with some help it was manageable. There is a dog charge. The wifi is really bad. The cable is the most basic. Decent breakfast. Super friendly cleaning staff. Overall I will visit again when I am in the area.

Permeative hotel, very far location. Poor facilities. Poor rooms. But cooperative staff. I prefer not to go there again.

Staff is friendly, spacious inside and out. Still here atm. All amenities in room. Beats paying 200 for a corporate stay. And one step your outside instead of travelling with your bags through a maze of elevators and hallways and difficult parking. Will be coming back. Just stayed at Sandman airport and hotel V Gatineau and Marriot downtown before settling here this was a nice change of vibe.

Nice green nature surroundings nearby River, rooms were decent size clean, no microwave in the room, front desk available at night time was friendly, room was missing hand soap while the door knob inside needs repair (room 34)!! Hence 4 star rating.

  • 2/5 Nathan T. 2 years ago on Google
Inn is fairly clean and newly renovated. However! However, the lodging is advertised as having WiFi access when in fact the WiFi network does not work in the room, and front desk was less than willing to assist. It may as well not have WiFi.

Checked out of there this morning; stayed for just a night. Overall, service was great, booking was easy, and the room itself was pleasant. 4 people were able to stay in one room no problem, and the sofa turned into a comfortable sofa bed (remember to bring a blanket and a bedsheet for it though). The TV in our room did not work, the shower had some awkward pressure, and the breakfast service was a bit limited - but other than that, it's great for the price. The location is perfect too (if you drove into Ottawa), and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable place for a night or two.

I have been in Ottawa working for a few months and my family has been coming up to visit me on the weekends. They first stayed here early April, and we were so happy with inn that my wife booked it twice more. They checked in again recently, and not only did Raja make a point of having the room and key ready so she could quickly unpack and get our toddler comfortable before officially "checking in" , they welcomed her in a way that you will never see happen in a big chain hotel. We have never been treated as a number here. My wife and little boy have stayed in 3 different rooms over their multiple visits, and each and every room was as clean and comfortable as the last. The housekeeping staff are kind and helpful. I know once I relocate back home, we are going to miss visiting this motel. We cannot thank you enough for your warm and welcoming hospitality. We will be sure to visit whenever we adventure up this way! And you should too! Despite not having a pool which we don't even miss, this is the perfect place for little kids to run and play safely without fear of running into traffic while mom and dad kick back in Muskoka chairs and enjoy the sunshine! Thank you Rideau Heights for being exactly what we need in a home away from home!

Unassuming, quiet and conveniently located, Rideau Heights Inn is close to all amenities. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly and rates are very reasonable. I’ve stayed here often and highly recommend!

The outside looks a little dated but the room is very modern and clean. Friendly and quick check-in experience. All the little amenities are here. I'd stay again.

Rooms are fancy & well decorated. Too plush to be called an "INN", I personally felt I was staying in 4 star property. I stayed in room number 9, and the room was overwhelmingly comfortable & spacious. Highly Recommended.

Rooms need a more through cleaning. My glasses dropped behind the nightstand and it was very dusty. Room temp unit was also very dusty. Service was good and location was close to where I needed to be.

I previously reviewed this hotel and gave it 5 stars for multiple reasons. However I had to come back an update as we have just stayed with these folks again and I have never been more impressed with a hotel ever. We needed to extend our stay and Raja at the desk has been far more accommodating than necessary. I have never felt more at home and welcomed anywhere in my life. This will continue to be my go to when visiting the ottawa area. And I highly recommend to ANYONE who is traveling to Ottawa to stay here. You will be safe, comfortable, and it's a great place to stay with children as there is plenty of place to play outside safely on the property. 10/10 highly recommended. Thank you Rideau Heights Inn for the most incredible experience while on the road, especially you Raja, you are a fantastic human. The world needs more people like you.

Great location, lots of parking. Old rooms, dingy carpet. Comfortable bed. Should give this hotel 1 star based solely on the pathetic shower. I can spit stronger than this shower projects water. Check in host was short and rude. Check out host has pleasant and nice. Overall mixed bag but decent hotel at good price in great location. Needs some update tho.

too bad.. you can't sleep because there is constant noise. The items are very old. the air conditioner and the ventilation motor in the toilet are noisy like a tractor. Car parking spaces are right in front of the rooms. you can feel the car like in your bed when any car starts or moves. you can hear all the sounds from other rooms. it is possible to hear the siphon sound, the shower sound, the sound of the door, and whatever disturbing sounds you do not like. If you have no other option and you have to stay here, I still do not recommend you to choose this place. sleep in your car, believe me, it will be a more comfortable and quiet night for you.

I made a reservation by phone but when I showed up they didn't have a room for me. Make sure you get a confirmation #. Staff wasn't even concerned or assisted in anyway I drove 8 1/2hrs and didn't have a room. Thank you Best Western of Ottawa!!! Beautiful room and wonderful service!!!

We came to visit someone in St. Vincent's Hospital. Only 3 driving turns from Rideau Heights Inn! Very clean. Great bed! Just like home. They have pop for sale in the office for only $1. Lovely location! Lovely accommodating people.

Location was amazing, service was nice but our room wasn't ready for us. We got back from a show at midnight and the office was closed. We tried to shower but there was no soap anywhere, we used hand soap and shampoo it wasn't fun.

Disappointed with the cleanliness. Not impressed someone had bothered us 3 times through the night. Once at 11 pm knocking on the door. Then at 1:25 am knocking and trying to get in the room.Opened the door to find its a hotel staff member but he mentioned we were not confirmed as guests in the books but decides to knock at 1:25 am? Ummm suspicious??? Then at 3:20 am another knock at our door. That's it we left. Not a good recommendation hotel. Never again!!!!
