Hubby and I visited the tulip festival this year and it did not disappoint. A must for locals and visitors to the capital it showcases a myriad of tulips. All colours, sizes and shapes and in beautiful groupings. For hubby this was especially relevant as yellow tulips were his favourite flower and something that did not grow naturally in Mexico. Of course I also have a little tulip festival going on in my own front yard but I’m just an amateur.

What a beautiful arrangement of tulips for this year! We went on mother’s day (so did half of Ottawa, it seems) and the flowers were just about all in full bloom. It was truly a gorgeous sight to behold. I highly recommend taking your family to see this special festival every year when the flowers are at their peak!

Amazing festival as always. Lots of food trucks and ice cream. Hard to find a place to park but it worth the time. Great tulips with multiple colors and shapes.

Really great experience, got great photos and luckily the weather was good. For the best photos I recommend visiting immediately after a rainfall as the droplets on the tulips look beautiful. Love that Ottawa puts up a lot of stands and fun activities for people to enjoy while viewing the tulips.

Always good. Choice of tulips this year a bit thin? Hi NCC - for some reason I cannot reply to you on the app - that is good to know, the explanation panel with the varieties only lists about half a dozen, so it looks like there are fewer varieties. Keep up the good work!

Many people visit this area only during Tulip festival, but this location is gorgeous in other time on the year, too. It is one of the best locations to take photos in Ottawa.

Really enjoyed our visit on May 11. Most tulips have blossomed. Wonderful spot to enjoy the beautiful variety of tulips, as well as the nice history between Canada and Netherlands. Visited during the weekday afternoon, so didn’t have traffic nor parking problems. A super enjoyable visit!

So pretty! Hey also had food stands and an area to eat and talk. The whole park was blossoming and there were lots of informational signs on the event. Even with the rain it was a nice outing. Good for families and couples.

I go every year, beautiful. The cost is free, the paths are paved. Every year NCC re-arranges and adds different colour tulips to the beds. There are little paths between the beds for great photo ops without disturbing the flowers. Parking is across Prince of Wales ($$) or if you want to park at TD place on bank also ($$) and walk . Public washrooms available at the Dow's lake Pavilion are small, but accessible. Usually there are vendors selling popcorn and ice cream, Bring your own water bottle or use the vending machines at the Pavilion or TD place on bank ($$).

It was a visual treat!! Very beautiful and colourful tulips in the park. Since we visited on the second last day of the festival, a lot of the flowers had withered or fallen. There still were a lot of flowers for us to see and click pictures! The festival was very well organized with tulips displayed by colour in various sections. There were food and ice cream trucks. There was a movie being played with a great projector set up in the park! The park is located just across the lake which gave a great view. Due to construction, parking had to be done at a walking distance from the festival. But it was not an issue since there were multiple parking lots available in the vicinity.

It was beautiful as it shows on the pictures. Make sure to book the whole day if you live outside of Ottawa. Entry is free. Parking can be found 5 mins walking distance. $4/whole day on weekends. Pretty affordable and safe. Foods stall may accept cards but mostly cash. Each decent meal can cost $20 before tax. So best to bring your own food and drinks. If you have children, you can bring in playing mats. Fun activities like kayaking is there as well. Pub and bar is there too. Public washroom is available as well. A perfect day out for single , mingle, family and friends.

Tulip festival takes place in Tulip season in the park along Queen Elizabeth way, by Dow’s lake. We were here a couple of times during the colourful Tulip festival. It is truly a magnificent sight. I believe the flowers are produced from the bulbs that come every year as a gift from the Dutch government. However, this time in July the garden beds had summer flowers.

Canadian Tulip festival is held once each year is spring for an specific time period only . So visit as soon as the festival starts as weather can be an spoilsport any day. Our visit was planned on almost the last day of weekend and a day before the thunderstorm had struck canada in speeds from 130 to 150 kms/hr in different provinces. To our surprise, as the festival is spread over a long spans, some areas were still in full bloom. Witnessed pink, yellow, white , red and mix of colours that these tulips 🌷 displayed vibrantly. Luckily we were greeted by many tulips in full bloom both at festival arena as well as on our trip around the town. To add to the charm of flora and fauna, local eateries catered to mouth watering local varieties for visitors to taste and experience the flavours. Was an experience to cherish and worth visiting as soon as declared open and preferably on weekdays. On weekends be prepared for a good crowd and parking hassles. Enjoy.

Tulip Festival 2022 the best weather one could ask for but a little hard on spring flowers! ( +30 degrees day 1 and 2!) ... Most tulips are at peak today or a little after peak .. I found majors hill to be a little bit fuller this year 🌷

Overly hyped for few patches of flowers …Over crowded most of the time …this is my second year in a row going …Avoid weekends and sunny hours for better pictures without the rush around. They should plant them on larger ground in order to hv a full flash look of the colour field

Amazing experience to see lot of tulips and another amazing thing is that the canal was alongside, we went on a very hot day but the canal side was a breeze with some slightly cold winds.

Absolutely beautiful when the tulips are in full bloom (which was today). It was also the first day of the 2023 tulip festival though so it was incredibly busy. Parking was difficult and the crowd was thick. Flowers are stunning though.

It was an exhilarating experience to see such colourful blooming of Tulips. Lots of crowds to see such a display. All parking lots are full. Do visit the nearby preston street for Italian foods. All restaurants are full to its capacity. Waiting time could be from 30 minutes to 40.

  • 4/5 Allison H. 11 months ago on Google
Pretty flowers and so many. Good walk with lots of people stopping for photos and long line ups for pricey snacks from vendors on site. The parking lot across from dows lake is torn down to be a high rise...so limited street parking near by.

Outstanding tulip bloom. You need to be here during the tulip festival to enjoy the bloom. If your late by a few days then ull not get to see much flowers here.

Overall good experience, Commissioner’s Park was crowded on the weekend when we visited. Different varieties of Tulips planted all around the park, first time Tulip viewers will definitely enjoy, but don’t expect the tulip farm experience which one will get only on farms.

(Translated by Google) A free tulip festival open to the public. It's not so crowded on weekdays and weekend mornings, so it's easy to take photos. There are only simple toilets. Food trucks selling hot dogs and snacks also gather. For Ottawa citizens, this is an important festival that announces the arrival of spring after the long winter is finally over. During the Second World War, Princess Juliana of the Dutch royal family that was occupied by the Nazis was exiled to Canada in 1940. In January 1943, the princess decided to give birth to a third child in Ottawa, but if the birth of the born child was not in the Netherlands, problems with loss of Dutch nationality and the right to inherit the throne occurred. Therefore, the Canadian government took special measures to temporarily make the Ottawa Municipal Hospital's hospital room a Dutch territory, and displayed the Dutch flag in the Parliament. Born Princess Malfrite was successfully granted Dutch citizenship and the right to inherit the throne. The princess is the aunt of the current King Willem-Alexander. After the war, the Dutch Royal Family gave 100,000 tulip bulbs to Canada's capital Ottawa as a token of gratitude and friendship. Since then, bulbs have been delivered every year, and the world's largest tulip festival began in 1953.

Great scenery, beautiful tulips, nice day trip! Underwhelming for souvenirs. Unless you want to go to a portopotty, go to the bathroom beforehand!

  • 5/5 Meghan S. 4 years ago on Google
My boyfriend and I make the trip yearly, each May, to see the beautiful tulips in bloom. Each year, there seems to be new food trucks (and port-a-potty), new attractions and activities for families. We seem to get lucky and find street parking for a couple of hours, and then walk over to the site. There was sometimes paved, sometimes gravel paths leading to each tulip cluster. We noticed most families were able to push strollers or small tricycles without problem(s), but the paths and ground does get quite muddy on rainy days...maybe bring a change of shoes or a tarp for a picnic!

I love 🌷 The Canadian Tulip Festival is a tulip festival, held annually in May in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The festival claims to be the world's largest tulip festival, displaying over one million tulips, with attendance of over 650,000 visitors annually. Large displays of tulips are planted throughout the city, and the largest display of tulips is found in Commissioners Park on the shores of Dow's Lake, and along the Rideau Canal with 300,000 tulips planted there alone. Millions of tulips set the stage for a celebration of authentic art, cultural, historic, culinary and family tulip experiences at various official venues across the capital.
