Beautiful old and new sections of the military cemetery within Beechwood, the most park-like cemetery I've ever seen. Large, old-growth trees, open spaces, numerous flower beds and more. During the summer there are always people walking, jogging, cycling and sightseeing in the park. The military cemetery is just east of the RCMP section. There are numerous plaques with some interesting historical facts located throughout.

The BEST of the BEST!!! If you're thinking about organizing a funeral this is the BEST PLACE TO GO, hands down!! We were extremely saddened with the passing of my dad. The people here handled things SO WELL. From A to Z. I spoke with Isabelle, the organizer, she was super friendly and accommodated all of our requests. Then on the day of the event, they had plenty of well dressed and professional staff who showed up to the church, and expertly set up the flowers and coffin. And the coordinator on the day of the even was Jessy, and she was also AMAZING! Everything went smoothly. After the mass and the burial, we came back to the beautiful reception hall. I was so pleased that they had 2 big screens playing the slide show that I took so long to make. Everyone loved it. Also, the food was awesome, as we got the catering package with them too. 100% these people REALLY CARE!! I will be recommending them for sure!

Beautiful cemetary with dedicated areas for RCMP / CSIS and Military. They can search for a loved one in data base and direct you to the spot.

A gigantic cemetery. Although it seems to be running out of space for plots. For such a large size I don't know how they keep the place mowed and cleaned. It's actually quite impressive.

A small “Arlington” just an hour long walk from Ottawa city centre. Beautiful and calm place where you can relax and remind yourself bit of the history. There is a M4 Sherman tank and couple of cannons on display.

Beautiful large cemetary. The grounds, especially the older stones are in need of some serious care though

Despite living in Ottawa for a long time, and even attending a funeral here a few years ago, I only learned about the history of this remarkable cemetery during a recent guided tour. It is absolutely worth a visit if you want to learn more about Ottawa's history. Note: The photos of the actors in costume are from the cemetery's annual historical walk, which took place this year on September 10.

Was here for a celebration of life service. The staff were amazing and the place was beautiful. Nice and clean washrooms and the grounds are well taking care of.

I attended the historical walk offered on their site. It also happened to be the 150 anniversary for the RCMP so they were having a ceremony with their mounted riders and pipers - it was quite nice. The guide was informative, and the grounds are lovely.

I just stopped by on my way to somewhere while I was cycling with my daughter. Unexpectedly, I found a bench to eat lunch, but I was awed by the well-maintained cemetery/. So, I paid respect for the people who passed away over the years.

This cemetery is a thoughtful and wonderful place. It is unique in that it has obtained official status as Canada's National Cemetery through bill c-17. It is also run by a non-profit foundation so you know that they are doing the work for the right reasons. It is really old and they even offer free tours once a month and have all sorts of neat programs for the schools nearby. This is as much a place for the dead then the living. More like a place where we can meet and share the beautifully tended space mutually. Honestly, I was not expecting such a great and well organized organization.
