NEGLIGENCE and CARELESSNESS of medical staff, our son died in the WAITING ROOM! Our baby died in the waiting room of Monfort Hospital in Ottawa after 5 (five) hours of waiting without medical help. I was screaming in pain and asking for help, nobody cared to pay attention to us, and help my baby while I was in labour. This happened on July 26th, 2022. I had a very beautiful, positive and uncomplicated pregnancy, until we arrived at Monfort Hospital when the horror started. Even after this completely preventable, scandalous and senseless tragedy, the hospital nurses and doctors treated me without any empathy to put it gently. I had to ask tens of times for any kind of help. The hospital staff was also unwilling to disclose full medical records. I had to ask 8 times, 5 different nurses and 3 different doctors. I had to walk in pain for 90 minutes around the hospital, being sent from one floor to another, only to be sent back to my unit by the information desk admin, to speak to the Labour and Delivery unit manager, located 20 feet from my room. None of the nurses bothered to inform us of this, instead they gave me the merry-go-round around the hospital, 2 days after a major emergency surgery and the senseless killing of our son in the waiting room.

Absolutely horrible for getting any mental health help in a crisis. I called the mental health unit in the morning and was told to bring my friend to emergency as that is the only way she could get admitted. The nurse I spoke with said it was a good idea if I came with her so I could explain what I’ve been noticing as she’s been very disoriented and might not be able to communicate it herself. After finally getting her to agree to see someone, we get to the entrance and told I can’t stay and wait because of covid procedures. I continued to call and ask for updates, and was told the doctor would call me when she was seen. I was told to call back in the morning to check on her, only to be told that they discharged her and the only way they would keep her is if she confessed to being suicidal, or ambulance bring her in. This is unacceptable. You can not expect someone who is completely out of their mind to wait 10+ hours alone in emergency to be able to clearly communicate what is going on with them. Despite all my efforts and numerous calls, explaining she’s having severe hallucinations and needs to be admitted, she was sent home. How does anyone get mental health care in this city? Please let me know.

You removed my previous review, which was well thought out and written it did not contain slander or malicious material. If you continue to do this I will speak to someone in the ethics department or file a complaint officially. I will aso contact some form of media news outlet, About how I was basically ignored and told my symptoms were wrong by the triage nurse, and how I was dismissed after saying i felt dizzy hands and feet numb and I was extremely tired. The only person who examined me at any point was a nurse. I was sent by telehealth and should not be made to feel like I did something wrong. I disclosed I had aspergers which makes it hard for me to advocate for myself and from that moment on I was estenially ignored. My doctor ran no tests. addressed my hand without touching it looking at it and completely dismissed me without talking about how I was so dizzy and tired or any of that told me I could go turned his backed and walked away. I saw him for 1 minute.

At the end of February I was taken by ambulance to Montfort. I had covid. I had not eaten or drank anything in a week. And had a fever of just above 103. To be expected I waited in a wheel chair in the hall for 5 hours. I was extremely weak and could barely walk. When they were ready for me I went to the window and gave all my info. Because of the short distance I was able to walk over. After I was admitted I was told I had to walk myself to my room. I told them I couldn't walk. And so I sat in the wheel chair and tried to wheel myself. I failed. The nurse escorting me refused my pleas to be pushed. And said I had to do it myself. I managed to stumble along with out aid and just about collapsed on the hospital bed in my isolated room. I was then tested for covid and had some blood tests done which showed my potassium was very low. So they started an IV. I was barely conscious through this process because of exhaustion. I fell asleep on my IV for a few minutes and when I woke and readjusted my hand the potassium began to flow again. It was excruciatingly painful I was near tears, I pressed the button for the nurse and her reaction was that it was normal. This was not normal!!!! After some time I needed to go to the washroom only to find out they had no designated washrooms for covid patients. The nurse out of desperation let me use the regular washroom saying she would get someone to clean it right after. The bathroom was across from my room, no one went in to clean it after! The only treatment i recieved was Tylenol and the potassium. Everyone treated me coldly and like i was a waste of their time. To my surprise they kicked me out at 5 am. I had no appropriate way home! 3 days later I had Pneumonia and once again called an ambulance because I could not breathe and had a horrific sore throat that ended up being strep. At this time I went to Quernsway Carleton Hospital. I was there for 10 days. They treated me with respect, dignity, care and compassion. Something Montfort needs to learn!!!!! If they were not capable of looking after covid patients they should have told the ambulance to take me somewhere else! Will never go back there!

I had my baby this past May at Montfort hospital. The staff at the birthing unit were great, but the experience turned sour when my husband’s manager (he works there) decided to call our room to discuss work related issues! I don’t even understand how the manager knew who I was, was able to access my hospital file (I was the patient not my husband) without my consent, find my room and extension number and think it’s a great idea to call and discuss work with my husband! This was 12hrs after welcoming our beautiful baby son and still recovering from labor! As a patient, I felt my privacy has been violated and the complete lack of care from that manager has me questioning the training given to Montfort managers, their policy to safeguard patients health information and the overall hospital values! This is serious and I hope something is done. I trusted Montfort with the birth of my baby because of past positive feedbacks I’d heard from other mothers, but I now find myself with little trust left and wondering what other part of my life/file has been shared with other managers that I don’t know. Is this an endemic issue where everyone just has free access to every patients file as they want?! The icing on the cake, I’ve reported the incident to the Hospital client relation (as I’ve been told to do), but 2 month later and I’m still waiting on a resolution. I’d have given 0 star, if it was possible! To the birthing Doctors, nurses and birthing staff reading this, I want to thank you for all you did for me and your help welcoming my baby boy in this world. Please know this is not a representation of your works.

Zero star hospital, very- very poor patient service especially emergency department while it’s night time, unprofessional personnel. More than 15 hours waits and send patient home with sever sign and symptoms. The government should control the quality of service to public by this hospital, defund or close such useless hospital.

My worst experience ever of a hospital.. I was referred by my family doctor to immediately visit ER due to possible pneumonia and asthma issue. They made me sit for already 8 hours still counting. ER people telling approx 12.45 hours waiting time there are other people before you. My question is - if Covid didn’t teach you better management than what will? Hopeless place … I feel much worse now but can’t leave as my family doctor wants me to go to ER.

The next morning after I gave birth to my baby. My new born kept making gagging faces and I could see a struggle to breathe. I pushed the emergency button for a nurse. She showed up after a while. I explained to her I was concerned about my baby breathing. She said it's normal and I shouldn't be concerned. She gave me attitude and was annoyed that I had pushed the urgent button. Shortly after she left. My daughter ended up turning blue and starting suffocating. I had to run down the hall screaming for help when a doctor grabbed her and had to open her airways they were blocked with mucus. My baby was not able to breath and I was in the process of leaving the hospital. The nurse didn't even follow up after the incident. What a disgrace. I wish I remembered her name to warn you all. This was November 12 2019. I do remember she was blonde.

Terrible nurses and doctors. I have been mistreated by staff every time I have been here. I left in tears last time, as my nurse was yelling at me and calling me names. If you value your safety and sanity stay far far away!

Terrible hospital. Wouldn't recommend it to anybody. My daughter didn't get to shower for 2 years, wasn't getting any medication for her medical condition, and had 6 iPads stolen from her by staff members because she was using them to record patients being violent. She got physiotherapy 3 times a week for an hour, but then was immediately put back in her room where she was in bed all day, so it was basically useless. She got attacked by patients with dementia (stabbed in the neck with a pencil once) so often that she was too afraid to walk down the hallway. She had to hide in the laundry room once just to get away from a rampaging patient. Another one tried to strangle her with her own necklace (he ended up breaking it). She also wasn't getting any medication for her medical condition. Didn't get to see a doctor for 2 years, even though she was living in a hospital and has a medical condition. 0/10; would not recommend. In my opinion, they'll automatically treat patients differently depending on whether or not they're from Quebec and can speak French.

If I could put in a zero, I would. I've been brought to Mont.Emerg twice and it was a nightmare. I wasn't triaged, they didn't put my file in the queue. They left me almost unconscious in a geriatric chair. Once I was able to stand, I called a cab and left. Second time, I had an allergic reaction to a medication. They treated me like a drug addict. I couldn't stand, but they wanted to discharge me at 3am. I had to show them I couldn't walk and they let me stay one more hour. I had to find my way to a phone to call for a taxi. I was obviously in a bad way. No assistance given by anybody, no direction to get to an exit. It was a horrible winter storm and almost ended up locked out from a door leading to the parking lot. I only remember waiting in their lovely marble front entrance, slumped over waiting for a cab. My own doctor was furious when I told her what happened. If you have a choice, NEVER go there!

Will never forget. Half an hour after I gave birth to my baby. The irresponsible nurse put me in a desk chair and spun me around the hallways to transport me from the delivery room to a recovery room. Instead of getting me a wheelchair because I was still paralyzed she used a desk chair because she was in a rush to finish her shift. I nearly fell off the chair and my feet were dragging on the floor. She was spinning me around and laughing. What a disgrace. Her name is lise-anne

I've been here 3 times now and it is without a doubt the worst ER in the city. On my most recent visit I waited 10 hours before asking how many people were ahead of me only to be told 13 people after 10 hours. I was quite Cold and when I went to ask the nurse for a blanket I was informed they don't give out blankets in the waiting area which is the only hospital I've ever been in that refused to give a blanket out to the people freezing in the waiting room. The nurses don't care about you at all. I was told by the paramedics that brought me in to report any changes to the nurses but when I tried to do so as my condition was getting worse I was told that they were reassessing everyone and I could report it then and was even refused Tylenol until I was reassessed and was left sitting there for another 2 hours before I went to the other nurse myself who at that point did the reassessment and gave me some Tylenol. My experience before that wasn't much better with a doctor ordering tests arguing with me about being in a wheelchair because I would need to walk to leave which wasn't for several more hours. Avoid this hospital if you can.

This is the worst and most negligent hospital I have ever encountered. Three separate times, lives were endangered of people I know, and that’s just people I personally know. A cousin’s child died because of failure of doctors to monitor the mother properly after a fall, my brother in law almost died of west Nile because he was accused of being a drug addict (and, I might add, was left facedown on a stretcher in a makeshift diaper with no other clothes on and no monitoring leads hooked up until an internal med doc happened to see him and rushed him to ICU), and a friend was discharged from psych while actively suicidal and told to go, on her own, to another hospital to get more appropriate help. It’s also absolutely true that if you don’t speak French, you will be treated much differently by medical staff. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF YOU CAN AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT.

The ICU were great. Prompt and caring. The regular ward staff were a little less than great. On the whole my partner was well looked after. Food not so great.

A loved one was recently admitted to Montfort Hospital and I have to say that this was probably the worst hospital experience of their and my life. And that is saying a lot, given the abysmal health care in Canada. I had been very concerned about my loved one and had been trying to get one of their nurses or a doctor to just tell me how they were doing. That was all I wanted, to an update on someone I was worried about. I called the hospital and the ward multiple times and, for some reason that I absolutely cannot comprehend, this seemed to be an insurmountable request from anyone at this hospital. One nurse I spoke to when they were just admitted was very nice, but couldn't offer much information at that time. Then I had the misfortune of trying to get an update from two other nurses on the ward. One just seemed way too busy and hadn't even spent any time with them yet, so had no information to give me. I called back later in the day and the response was the same. Actually, she told me, "They know their name". That was the update I got. How specific and comforting. She also said that a doctor might call me back if they felt like it. Also, very helpful. The next day I tried again and that day's nurse also had not yet spent any significant amount of time with my loved one and she could only say, "They're fine with me". She said the doctor might call me later. Eventually I called back because it had been two days and I was very worried at this point, because no one would tell me how they were doing. That same nurse once again just said they'd ask the doctor to call me. This time, I almost begged for an update, I asked if they were eating or sleeping or did they seem happy and ok. The nurse hung up on me and then told the doctor that I'd verbally abused her. Trust me, it would have been very tempting to do so, but I was cognizant of my language. But I was insistent, I just asked if anyone could please just tell me something. I'll say that again. A nurse in a psychiatric ward hung up on a concerned family member who was just asking for an update on an elderly loved one that no one had yet given after 2 days in this horrible place. I did, though, then receive a call from their doctors, who were actually quite kind, knowledgeable and empathetic. The family member did not feel safe, heard or cared about during their stay, either, and have been very traumatized since their discharge. This part is not my story to tell so I won't go into it any further. And finally, when they were discharged, they were sent home without their health card, medications that they'd been told to bring with them, and the cash that they had brought with them. They do not live anywhere near the hospital, so getting back there is nearly impossible, so bye-bye to all of that. They did say they'd mail the health card, but given the way this place is run, I'm certainly not holding my breath that they'll ever see that health card again. I have emailed the hospital and have left a message at their complaints department and have not heard back from either. It's almost like this horrible, trauma-inducing institution has a big staff meeting every morning where they encourage their employees to be as dismissive and incompetent as possible. If that's the case, Montfort, you're doing a bang-up job. Also, I am not naive enough to expect that this review will change anything (such as taking any steps to ensure nothing like this happens to anyone else, disciplinary measures for the incompetent nursing staff, returning the items that were not sent home, etc.), but I needed to write this anyway, in case someone reads it and makes the decision to seek treatment elsewhere. Mind you, I won't be surprised if there's a response here at some point saying how sorry they are and to call their customer service number (even though I have and they won't call back), which seems to be this hospital's standard response to the complaints that I've read, instead of actually trying to improve their service and care.

The psychiatrist offered by emerge was condescending and spoke over you when you’re trying to give information. I was asked to be there to give more insight but he Continuously told me I was wrong and then proceeded to say “but I just met them today so I don’t know” maybe shut up then. He pushed the patient to react even though he had already been given doses to sedate him and obviously wasn’t going to express the same mania as was experienced by the cops. and spoke so fast it was frustrating to try and communicate, I recognize there’s obviously other patients in the hospital but when somebody is brought in to EMERGE by POLICE who accessed the situation and that’s what they felt was needed, dont treat us like we don’t belong here or our problems aren’t important, all that psychiatrist did was say “go back on old medication, and so sign up for anger management” which they didn’t have any recommendations for but beyond that I repeatedly told him we had already tried. Just wanted us out of the hospital and had no compassion. Go to the Civic hospital. They’re actually very kind, this was our first and last time experiencing mont Fort.

I have a secondary disability so my sense of pain is heightened. I have a baby there last dec and the nurse got really RUDE and PUSHY with me when I didn't feel it was safe to hold my baby. I came out of surgery and they wanted her on me. My face was numb my arms were heavy and twitchy I just didn't think it was safe. So she got the children's ministry involved when she said to me ...."other women do it so it's fine I want you to hold your baby". I said I don't care about any other mother or their baby I care about mine and I don't feel that it's safe so go tell someone who cares.if I ever have another kid I don't ever want to go there. Some nurses were amazing and really want to be there. Most nurses were really rude

I went to the Emergency room At the Montfort in the early hours of May 17 , 2:20 AM, I came to the hospital because I woke up with a full blown asthma attack. I signed in but didn't receive a bracelet. I have a Mechanical Heart Valve, I was put on monitor to check my heart and she listened to my chest. At around 3:40 I was notified that it would be another 8 1/2 hours before I could see a doctor because there was only one (1) doctor on duty. Because I suffer with other health pain witch includes chronic pain. My body could not take being in a chair for another 8 1/2 hours. I was in shock when I left the hospital, only 1 doctor on duty.

This hospital does not know how to properly triage people. The nurses and supervising ER doctor sent me home three times despite my symptoms. I ended up with septic poisoning because of their medical negligence and almost died. On my fourth attempt to get help, the ambulance took me to another hospital where I was admitted. I did end up spending 7 months hospitalized. I lost many things, including parts of my body because the Montfort and their staff are completely disconnected from people. They do not listen, and do not care. They are cruel, they will make you wait for hours while you are dying in the waiting room, they will not care. Someone should be monitoring their practices.

The Mont Fort Hospital in Ottawa is a serious let down. I understand being short staffed but that’s no reason to speak to patients in an unacceptable manor. I waited for 5 hours without seeing one nurse or doctor and when I went to let them know I’d be leaving I was very rudely told to go away and come back later. All I had gotten to say was I’m sorry to bother you and when I proceeded to tell him I just wanted to ask a question he shrugged me off again. Definitely never going back if it’s my choice. Also no beds and barely enough seats

Registration/reception is exceptionally rude. Just needed to get my girlfriend in triage her phone and proper documents and the larger lady was extremely rude and apprehensive. I know I wasn't allowed to physically go see her, but she hardly let me get a word out and just explain what needed to be done. Don't be in the hospitality field without hospitality. And no Mont Fort, I don't wanted an automated response to talk to your hospitality team. :)

Only because my previous day surgery experience was good am I not giving 1 star. ER here started out not bad, checking me in and bloodwork was done quickly, but after that I sat around waiting for another 12+ hours for a total of over 16 hours. The night nurse I saw got testy with anyone who cared to ask what was up, and claimed she was too busy when I saw several times she was on her phone. Very disappointed and there needs to be a change in system so that if, as it seems to be, there is only one doctor around that there be a texting/ email system set up so that those only waiting on results not have to wait around needlessly for hours on end, unable to sleep or have much peace.

We are still haunted by a a lazy trauma nurse and Dr Montgomery , 6 yrs later and dealings with physicians and surgeons and professional services all we got was he will be retrained ! she had pain in her back and after 14 hrs . was told he did not appreciate being bothered by a sore back , recommended physio therapy , 5 days later she could not breath , took her to general and drained 2 liters of fluid from her lungs and diagnosed with breast , bone and lung cancer ,could not shrink mass due to destoid disk in her back through physio therapy ! Avoid this den of doom , they have avoided closure by being a franco teaching hospital ! Look at their record for their long term care home ! Alena

This was the worst medical facility I've been to in this city. I was taken there on an ambulance trip because of a fever and suspected COVID-19. When I got to emergency room, there was only one staff member seemingly on duty. People were sleeping on the hard concrete floors with no mattresses. It was crowded. I slept on the ground for four hours, only to be condescendingly told by the staff member, that it was in fact a twelve hour wait. I pointed out that nobody had told me this, or even what my condition was. Again, she patronizingly told me that to do so was "not our job". I received no help, not even a COVID-19 test. They also made no effort to isolate me from the other patients, due to my symptoms. Nor did they give me a new mask, because I had taken one that was obviously dirty in my hurry to reach the ambulance. So anyway, after about four hours, I simply left. I felt insulted, and my head and joint pain had by then come back. So, I left. Having gotten zero tangible assistance. If you want to feel more sick and stressed than you already are, this is the best hospital for you. If you want half-decent ER care though, go to the Ottawa Hospital (one of its campuses, that is). Don't waste your time with this place, they have no business taking emergency patients.

I brought my father who is 92 years old to Montfort hospital on July 4th in an ambulance because his skin was leaking water and because his family doctor advise us to do so. Paramedic took us in, they did the triage think and they took us to the waiting room probably because they did not believe us. We waited in the waiting room from 6:30 p.m. until the next day at 8 a.m. At triage, nurses kept calling people for reassessment but they never called my father. When I went to see the nurse at triage after 7 hours, I have been told that his turn is coming next and that people keep coming up to her this why she is behind. After 13 hours, they took us in and told us that my father kidneys are working at 9%. Doctor said welcome to my world, I live here. I know they are busy but because of the lack of empathy and experience from all, my father almost died and actually this is what we have been told last week, no treatment and he could die. We are still at the hospital today. And this is another experience. Some nurses are really good and they come right when you call them, others they are so slow and you wait more than 2 hours to get help. Today is a perfect example, the IV machine stopped for more then 2 hours, the nurse finally came, changed the bag and guess what, machine is still bipping and stopped. This is not it, my sister and I have been helping and doing most of the jobs. Also, I discovered one thing, if you have a family member working in the hospital, then you get treated differently, you get what you want when you want. Lucky the Lady who is in the same room as my dad. Her daughter and son work in the hospital.

WORST PLACE EVER! Both nurses and doctors are so mean! I’m pregnant, so sick and haven’t eaten in 2days! Haven’t felt my baby move. I was told my blood work will come back after 1hour and should let them know if my situation changes, I went to triage 1 where a male nurse was working around 12am on the 28th. He dint even let me say anything and asked me to leave. I cried! He said he doesn’t care Cos I’m not the only person waiting. Tried to explain to him that my situation is getting worse as I’m pregnant and haven’t eaten in 2whole days! He dint even bother to check my position in queue even though I explained my pain has increased and I feel super weak, this really mean nurse walked me out and called someone to the triage right while I was still there. I which there was a zero star. I told the doctor how weak I am and need to be hydrated, he asked me to go drink water when I clearly told him I can’t drink or eat anything hence the reason I haven’t eaten in 2days. He refused to give me IV, I’m so gutted. Everyone is mean here, maybe they should t be health workers helping save lives if they hate their jobs so much! Oh I know you’re going to come reply this review with same script of calling or emailing a certain number or email, y’all are TRASHHHH!!!!!!!

Most of the PSW at 3rd floor 3C at this Montfort hospital are the worst especially the psw during overnight. I stay there overnight for 7 nights for my 95 years old father who is sick. Each time I ring the bell for assistance we wait for more than 30 min sometimes more for them to come. Few times I see them they are sitting around fiddling with their phone. I had to approach them if one of them can help my elderly father to go to the bathroom. They seemed annoyed with me cause i interrupted them with whatever they were doing on their phone. And some of them expect me to clean my father which is not my job. These people are the worst, why they even take this job when they seems like they are not happy with it. Some of the nurses their are rude and too rough. But theres one nurse on 3rd floor that is wonderful!! We will never forget her. Her name is Irina. She is so professional, very kind and compassionate. She treats her patients well unlike other nurses there.

I got my MRI done at their MRI clinic at 1968 Portobello. It's over a month since the MRI was done and my doctor hasn't received the report yet! I have called them many times and I don't have the report yet! Their admin staff are very irresponsible and don't know what they are doing! Healthcare system in Canada has become worse than many so called third world countries!!!!!

The worst hospital i ever went, they syringe me without the need to and didn't even give me a pillow to sleep , this hospital is more like a dog cage and gave me ptsd after all the process, you should never go there and never recommend this hospital.

I have never had such a pleasant experience at a hospital. Went to ER. doctor was very thorough, nurses and support staff were friendly and helpful. The morale there is much better than at other local hospitals. Where I'll go from now on.

Worst Hospital in Canada! Had a awful experience at Montfort. And almost Died of a overdose at the hands of malpracticing neglectful doctors, And you know who you are! Your names arnt even worthy of writing. I Had a amazing nurse tho in the OR recovery room after my surgery. Her name was Joanne. And I give her 5 stars. Joanne just got her 10th year as a nurse. Because of her I left with my life. Joanne I am forever grateful to you, you cleaned me up and got me home for Christmas. ❤️ Shell

It's better to fake a heart attack or faint down in the beginning than be honest and wait for infinite hours. If you have emergency in night (not life threatening) you still have to visit Emergency. Irony is over 7 hours of wait and it's time for walk-in clinic to open, better to wait for walk-in clinic to open and go there!

Hospital was 'OK' but the staff is another story. I know some members of the public can be frustrating to deal with and I accept that the nurses may need to be a bit stern. HOWEVER the hospital makes clear that harassing staff or being rude can get you ejected from the hospital....so how about the staff? If the same rule applied to the workers the hospital wouldn't have half the staff left. I saw this poor old lady get treated like c**p by the staff, elderly lady on her own and was as sweet as can be but the staff talked to her like she was disturbing them, at least be polite to her! Staff attitudes are atrocious and to think sick people come here is concerning, last thing they want is to be talked to like an idiot.

Very great service. I felt like I was well taken care of given my situation, and was in and out of the hospital within 4 hours. I had bloodwork, urine sample, and an Ultrasound done. After my visit, I was then able to get my perscription note no problem from the doctor, AND he even went as far as to get me set up with a specialist! Overall, I am very impressed with the efficiency, compassion, and kindness of the staff. The only thing I would maybe change next time would be offering pain medication to patients (*if they are in pain that is) after their triage assessment just to help a bit while they wait to be seen by a physician. --- NOTE: By reading some of the other reviews, I think some people fail to realize that the healthcare workers in this hospital are human too. Healthcare work is already stressful enough as it is right now, everyone is doing their job so let them have some fun too! ALSO, YES this is a hospital. YES we live in Canada and we have universal FREE healthcare. I am sorry to break it to you, but if you are not dying- you are going to have to wait a few hours to be served! There is a priority scale that ensures that the most critical patients are taken care of first, and that is to help avoid unnecessary death! There are high volumes of patients right now, especially with COVID-19. I challenge everyone to be more compassionate and understanding of their medical staff. I saw a lot of people show anger and agression towards staff during my stay, and that is not acceptable! As a full grown adult, YOU CAN DO BETTER.

Been in the Emergency at Montfort Hospital several times in my life and the Emergency staff are very attentive, kind and compassionate. Also the Dr that takes care of you once your in. Yes we do have to wait a long time but we have to understand there's people their cases are urgent. We have to be understanding too. There understaffed, burned out and still greet you with a great attitude. Thank you for your service.

Had foot and ankle surgery here. Please note that there is no postoperative care. It is impossible to get a hold of the surgeon or any doctor or a nurse for that matter. If you are lucky, you may be able to get a hold of the technician. Their hours of operation where they can be reached is about four hours a day Monday through Friday. There is no support or help available during weekends or in the evening. The only option left is to call 911 or to go to the emergency room. And if you have a foot surgery and are immobile, good luck with that. At best you get can inconsistent and unclear information from the technician. Most times you’re just leaving a message and you don’t even hear back. Extremely stressful experience. Also - Your medication’s are changed without any kind of communication or explanation. There is conflicting information about the medication also between the nurse and the pharmacy. Extremely disorganized. If you have the luxury to choose then go to the Ottawa Hospital instead of here. The surgeon and nurses doing the procedure were helpful and excellent - that’s why it is a 4 star rating, but we wish the post operative care process was better.

The patient care is severely lacking. My partner went for surgery today and I have called the hospital several times to get an update on his condition. We live 2hrs away. I had to come home because of our kids, however trying to get anyone to give you an update is impossible. Just unprofessional, lacks any compassion for family members of patients. It will be very intetesting to see private health care come into Ontario. So no one has to deal with a public health system that affords zero consideration for patient/ family care. I would recommend private if possible over this hospital anyday. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

ER staff members are emotionless. Shows ZERO sympathy for whatsoever. Some of them their main job is to keep pissing you off to the extent of if you are dying you would prefer to go die at home rather than staying at the hospital. They keep calling your name to the triage room every 3 to 4 hours just to let you know that you still have 10 more hours to be seen by a physician!! My wife decided to leave after 13 hours of waiting without being seen by a physician because of the way she’s been treated with from the horrible staff!! Horrible system!

Unfortunately my husband was in the Montfort for almost 5 months. There were some good competent and caring people, but not the majority. He had terrible care at other times. He was left in his own feces trying to get away from it, which he couldn't because of his neurological disease. He had feces on his hands, legs, smashed on his buttocks etc. Another time he developed an infection with vomitting, and difficulty breathing which was not reported to the doctor and left untreated until the next day by which time he developed sepsis and almost died. He never regained what little strength he had after that. He was infected by MRSA by someone on the staff so had to spend the next 2 months in "isolation. He wasn't put in isolation until being told to by the doctor despite me telling them he had a positive MRSA test which they confirmed. They took no precautions for the entire day until instructed to by the doctor. He was moved from room to room or floor to floor while waiting for a nursing home bed, sometimes every day. This was a man with dementia, so imagine what that did to him. He was often treated like he was just am imposition not a human being. The only place he got consistent good care was when he almost died from sepsis and was on 4A. I think perhaps this was because the hospital feared being sued. These incidences are documented. Unfortunately these are the most prominent memories I have left of my husband who died 2 weeks after being transferred to a nursing home.

Delivered my first baby at this hospital and I cannot say enough good things! The staff in the family birthing unit are truly incredible. Their kindness, attention, and support during my labour and delivery made my first time memorable. I had a number of nurses helping me (Anna, Lise Anne and lots more) and each one was amazing at their job! My OB Dr Gravelle was also on shift that night and delivered my baby. She was fantastic at ensuring a smooth delivery with her expertise. Thank you to all the staff...we are SO grateful for your work!

Waited 3 hours to be seen which is expected. Finally got to the examination room where I waited another 30 minutes, which is again expected. But when they sent someone in after me who got seen within 5 minutes of entering, while i was still waiting in pain, thats when I realized I'd be better off just toughing it out at home.

They don't care period. After a trip to their ER I was told my pain was a mystery and they left me like that without doing any testing whatsoever. Meanwhile a few days later I went to Ottawa General and they did a CT scan and found the source of my pain which requires follow up with a specialist. DISGUSTING!

-came into the ER 8am and seen at 12-1pm (not too bad considering some of the wait times) -ER staff was great. They checked in on me constantly -Then I got admitted, this is where it fell off. I gave two stars for the the ER staff however for being admitted and needing to be put under observation. There was barely any observation happening. They were supposed to make sure that I was keeping my meals down. I ate a clear fluid lunch, and then no one came to check if I was actually keeping it down or I had to just stick to IV - I rang my bell only 1 time and it took them more than 30 mins to come. The funny part is the person that came in was just turning off my call light and did not ask me if I needed anything. Which I did (some meds for nausea) - the lady was kinda rude to me as I asked for nausea meds. - kept asking for our nurse and no one seems to be bothered to care. Good thing my boyfriend spoke French and explained to one of the nurses and they can understand better -charge nurse finally came in and gave me options -now im waiting here still waiting for my discharge and wondering again where my nurse is Probably will be going to Ottawa Hospital instead of here. Ive been to the Queensway ER and that was a better experience. Unfortunately I don’t live close to there anymore

I’m on my 16th hour in the emergency waiting room, this is by far the longest I’ve ever waited to be seen (we were told there was only ONE doctor on staff, by then it had been 10 hrs I was waiting so I kept toughing it out). I will never ever come back here again. I urge anyone to stay AWAY from MONFORT!!! Save yourself! Extremely low staffed, bathrooms r gross (there was Pooh on the seat), the nurses are subpar sanitary (threw my plastic mouth temperature on the ground). Overall, I give this hospital a -100%

My wife was taken by ambulance to this hospital. She had severe abdominal pain and could not walk or move. She was very weak and was bleeding out. Once she got there, she was told that if she got off the stretcher that they would give her pain medication because they knew how much pain she was in. However, if she chose to stay on the stretcher and not move to a hallway chair, they would not give her anything. But she genuinely couldn’t move, so they let her wait for hours on the stretcher without any pain medication and bleeding out. The doctor who was doing triage hydrated her, told her a specialist would call her and sent her home. The specialist called three weeks later. My wife almost died if it wasn’t for our family doctor who wrote a letter to admit her in another hospital. There is a lot of negligence going on at this hospital and nothing is being done.

I saw a nurse in a triage room sneeze without covering her mouth 3 times overall, I think. It is important to stay healthy for all people and avoid doing that in an emergency department, please. Moreover, I have been discharged from hospital earlier this morning, after waiting for a check-up by the doctor for more than 12 hours straight, overnight 😳

I was very happy with the care and attention I received with the staff and technicians for mammography and ultrasound. From making the appointment with reception, registration on arrival, and the time and attention to provide a comfortable and informative appointment from the technicians. I appreciated the extra care that Nicki took to walk me from one waiting room to the other between appointments. I also appreciated the immediacy of results. Everything was on schedule and I was in and out in a reasonable time. I highly recommend this location for these services.

I went to Monfort yesterday and i found everyone I spoke to in all departments friendly and caring. This place runs like a well oiled machine. The waiting room wasn't too full and they move you around depending what your needs are. I was in the Green zone and plenty of washrooms to use. I thought I had a bladder infection and try to deal with meds I used before. I did not sleep for three days straight. Once you are in the examining room separated by curtains it went well. they don't overfill the room with patients. The Doctor came to see me and was very nice and asked the right questions and did not waste much time because I know he is busy trying to get everyone done. The nurse came in to to do what the Doctor asked her to do and he came back to see if i was ok. The nurse was excellent. I told that I have a phobia of Hospital and a major one on needles. She took her time and made sure I was ok. I slept like a baby last last night. Sore today and was told to take it easy for a good two weeks to heal properly. Thank you to all the staff at Montfort and a special Thank you to the Doctor and Nurse that put up with me. Yes the waiting time is long, but you get results. I was in at 8:00 am and left approx. 2:30. All worth it!! Jake Aubut Orleans

Truly one of the most negligent hospitals I have ever had to go to. On different occasions, both myself and my husband have been brushed off as having minor emergencies or misdiagnosed only to later need more intensive care elsewhere because of the lack of care here. There are a few wonderful doctors but unfortunately they are overshadowed by the bad practices. Most recently my husband who is in his early 30s with no history of headaches had a sudden onset of them that have lasted 4 days. We came into emerg, he had CT scan and blood work, waited upwards of 20 hours to see a doctor (she was great), and said that due to the symptoms he was presenting with and the fact that the medication they gave him throughout the day was not helping this headache she wanted to do a more detailed CT scan with contrast due to the sudden onset, his age and the fact that they were not going away. She discharged us after midnight because they had no beds and said we would get a call in the AM to come in for a CT scan with contrast. He did, but on arrival the TECH refused to do the scan. All anyone could tell us to do was go sit back in the ER for another 20 hours. So here we are, he is still having headaches, they discharged us with no diagnoses next steps and the techs refuse to move forward with scan ordered by the ER doctor.

My daughter's life was saved by the Monfort Hospital. She was sent to the Monfort by the Ottawa Royal Hospital after developing a high fever. It turns out that she had a UTI as well as COVID. Thankfully she has improved tremendously, due to the excellent care provided by the staff of the Monfort. If she hadn't been brought to the Monfort, she likely would have died at the Royal. I will never forgive the Royal for the neglect and abuse of my daughter.Thank God for the Monfort!

Doctors are great. The nurses are great. The administrative staff need to get their heads out of their butts. You provide administrative services- be cordial and helpful. If someone asks you a question, don't just say "I don't know". Point them in the right direction! Also, if I speak to you in English, speak to me in English. Francophone hospital or not, you are in Canada. Your staff need to be fluently bilingual.

Was here over 20 hours on Jan 6/7 2024. In agony with an urgent abdominal condition i am STILL struggling to get addressed. Triage chooses ONE symptom from a *drop down menu* and will choose the thing on that menu that “fit what’s going on with you best.” Even if it’s misleading, downgrades your urgency by 19 hours and almost gets you killed. The two nurses at the front overnight are extremely inexperienced with intestinal blockages and prolapse issues and need education to remember that their job is to DO NO HARM. I asked for the head nurse- she went and talked to staff but never spoke to me. I called the montfort client care people to inform them- got a call back on a day afterwards where i was too weak to speak and asked to be called back… crickets, so here i am. Avoid this ER. Many nurses don’t understand english- you won’t be offered food or water for over 20 hours if it’s a long wait and lord help you if you can’t get yourself from point A to point B- they force you to do it. I was way worse off when i left. 20. Hours and wasnt even examined by a dr. Not one person checked for a blockage. I will jump out of any ambulance that tries to take me to the montfort in future- just over the attitudes and nastiness of the nurses as i retched and they smiled and stood there doing nothing- didnt push me back, just walked away. And i have a walker at home. If i could rank this place lower, i would

This review may be revised at a later date. I have mixed feelings about this hospital. They certainly aspire to higher care levels yet seem populated by competent along with incompetent staff. There is a general lack of consistency while organization varies on the situation. I also think it would be beneficial for this hospital to be focused more on bilingualism as patients respond better in their own language.

Spent two nights at this hospital after hip replacement surgery. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Some nurses seemed to be better trained than others. Hospital food was okay.... more like TV dinners. . My nurse was able to provide me with snacks upon request. Bathroom area could have been cleaned more promptly. My greatest concern occurred when I checked in for surgery. I witnessed a staff member not wearing a mask in the entry area! This happened again when I had a a recent a follow-up appointment with my surgeon. Once again, two staff members with no masks! Considering we are in Covid and there is a legal requirement, I found this quite disturbing. On both occasions, I mentioned this to another employee, but I doubt it was actioned. Security needs to step up on this.

The staff was wonderful. The triage nurse was so patient with me and gave me the space I needed to have a quick anxiety cry. I have doctor related trauma and I very much appreciated that. The nurse that checked me in was also very kind, patient and friendly. The waiting rooms are comfortable and the wait was average. When I saw the doctor he listened to me and was very patient. I have been seeking care for symptoms I still have from a head injury I incurred a year and a half ago. During the doctors assessment I felt like I was being listened to and taken seriously the entire time. The doctor gave me a referral and a plan for moving forward in diagnosing my injury. I am very thankful that I went to the Montfort Hospital.

I've had really good experiences in the urology and gastro department here. All the nurses are so nice and comforting. I had an upper endoscopy booked and was nervous about the sedative and the nurse helped me with it. And today i had a cystoscopy and there was a male nurse who did everything he could to make me as comfortable as possible. Brenden Wriggs (not sure about spelling of last name). Really helped with a not so fun experience.

One of the worst hospitals in the city, they have 0 respect or any standards for individuals who are mentally disabled. Had the poor misfortune of having to go there to help my mom and younger sister today. My sister is mentally disabled and was taken by ambulance there today because she's had many seizures back to back. She is unable to communicate for herself. My mom was refused to even sit in the waiting room. Told she had to wait outside till she was registered then was told that she had to wait outside standing until she got a bed. As my mom watched another patient enter their hospital with their partner/parent. It took me driving which I don't live far coming there and causing a scene for them to even allow my mom to pull her from the hospital. My mom has been to the general hospital with us many times and has always been with us from start to finish with no issues. Even during COVID. Absolutely the worst hospital in the city if you can avoid coming here I would at all costs.

My first question I would have to ask is: why would I opt for Montfort instead of the Ottawa General as an anglophone? Well, I don’t. The wait times are very long relative to the General Hospital (I know wait time complaint is unfair due to the nature of the medical system, though at Montfort it seems to be extra disorganized). Went twice in 4 years due to vicinity but ended up staying at the General instead for its better mix of services and bedside manner. I would be lying if I said that I’ve ever met a nurse who seemed even relatively happy providing me with care.

Amazing experience giving birth at montfort in november 2022. One of the nurses we had during our stay (her name was Zoé) was the absolute best and sweetest nurse we've had. She wasnt the one there when we delievered (although the one we had was great aswell) but we had her a few days before we gave birth and she came and visited us in recovery aswell and i was so grateful for her. Me and my partner both thought she was absolutely fantastic! I will say the emergency at montfort is horrible though!! Waited over 12 hours++ to get seen while being 6 months pregnant and in excruciating pain(not related to pregnancy so was told to go to emergency and not L&D). It was terrible

Pretty neglectful and dismissive towards people's mental health and got no help. ER wait is typically always 12+ hours , no staff at night. Not much of an emergency room if they don't treat people's needs as an emergency.if you ask a nurse a question they will just ignore you, turn around and walk away. Terrible hospital.

Pathetic treatment at Emergency. I am in healthcare and have worked 20 to 30 hour shifts. There is zero excuse for reception treating people like they are interrupting a texting session. My father is 87 years old with severe Parkinson’s . The lack of care for the most vulnerable people in our society is truly a frightening look at this generation’s future. Our healthcare system is broken which is so obvious when walking into the Montfort

She took time away from her lunch break to let Dr Wong ( who was also amazing) know that we had gone to the wrong area, and were 40 minutes late, and made it possible for us to be seen right away. The wait times suck but no matter where you go you have to wait. The doctors are very good. The nurses were very nice. They found out when I broke both arms that they weren't set right so they reset my arms. Since then no problem with my arms after seeing the bone specialist there. I went in for a stomach issue they did tests got to the route of the problem couldn't thank them enough. Since then no more stomach issue. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone needing medical care or to get down to any health issues they'll find it.

I took my father in today for a cardioversion. The entire team were outstanding. His nurse Phillip was very knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and compassionate. His kindness created a calm and comfortable environment for a procedure that he was a little uneasy about. Thanks to your team for such a positive experience!!

No complaints. They always take great care of anyone I know who has to visit the hospital.

Both of my sons were born at that hospital, and I have had surgery there (appendectomy for me). Every time I've been there my interactions with building and medical staff have been friendly and un-rushed. The building is generally bright and friendly and easy to navigate. During the births of our kids, my wife and I felt very looked after. We happened to end up with a private room for our first son and specifically requested one the second time because it was a good experience the first time. There was a large bathroom with a tub, a narrow pullout couch that I could grab a nap on (the first labour was a long one) and it was quiet. For my appendectomy, I had to spend some time waiting in emergency because it was a busy night, but my pain was taken seriously and I was moved to a bed as soon as it was appropriate given triage. The night emergency nurses were no-nonsense and I heard them being firm with some of the patients, but always kind. During follow-up in the weeks afterward, communication was clear and the surgeon took the time to walk me through my questions.

I was at the Montfort Hospital Neuth Days ago and I received a very pleasant expiernce. The security were absolutely stellar. The Nurses were very Sharp, Aswell as the psychologist is still very sweet over-all. I don't like how the male doctors full of tattoo's and wear thick glasses and cover themselves from head to toe in blue that walk in on you're bed space and don't give you a chance to speak they look into you're eyes and use extremely coarse language like there's only 2 or 3 answers when we are not a open book as Canadian's. :'/ I would like to check myself in since I'm falling a part on the inside and have difficulty breathing and can't see very properly. I'm going through psychosis and it seems like it's a joke to everybody that my mental health is irrelevant. There are way to many energy Vampires who enjoy feeding off of my fear 😱 and hunger I am starving since I was a Bebe. My family discarded me at Birth 🎂 I'm not able to sleep for weeks and it's been months since I have been able to digest a meal. I'm sick of Ottawa :/ Help!!! My name is Ethan Joanasie Uniuqsaraq. P. S I can't eat, sleep, or Dream. LYN. - MAYBE YOU CAN HELP ME 😐

I was strolling through the basement when i found the cafeteria which i decided to visit to satisfy my hunger. I was served poutine and pizza by a very rude cafeteria lady named Franswese. The checkout lady Gizele was a gem on the other hand. Totally made up for bad service from Franswese. The poutine was slightly seasoned with frost burn and topped with broth soup and frozen cheese curds... i might have gone too early as it was only 11:30ish...so i understand the cheese curd problem. This was the second most traumatic experience I had at the Montfort after the screening lady at the main entrance.

The staff not much attentive, loud, and laughing even in front of the patients in pain. University crowd....😑, when you really need a help. 10 hrs if waiting w/o food, nice word, or glass of water

Hospital is amazing people are helpful - if you have an appointment. My first time in the emergency was horrible with 9 hour wait time. But that is more the health systems fault I think because people were still trying their best in that kind of a situation.

We tried to avoid a trip to emergency for my wife given the patient load situation but ultimately we had to go Friday before noon. We were immediately triaged and put into their patient flow but from the onset we were truly impressed with all the staff. They were patient, kind, caring, professional and comforting. Despite the crowd and congestion, they were organized, efficient and communicated well. We were both amazed at the staff, faced with endless cases and demands, maintained outstanding patient care. We were never made to feel our case was unwelcome or minimized. No thanks to the governments’ lack of attention to our health care system the Montfort outpatients staff are amazing and need to be acknowledged for their stellar performance in the face of the crisis. Such amazing people to manage in that manner. Big thank you just doesn’t seem enough. Cheers and stay well.

I was in the Medical Day Unit for iron infusion. I had been prescribed a stronger iron and brought it with me. The nurse who set me up explained that I could react and what the symptoms would be. Well, I DID react. It was frightening and painful but the staff at the MDU were wonderful. They were right there taking care of me. I didn't have time to get scared and they were so professional and comforting. It was all

I want to thank Dr. Visser (such a nice and kind man and definitely a professional) and all the nurses at Montfort Hospital. They are doing their best especially now after COVID when so many doctors and nurses stopped working! Everything you do is highly appreciated! Thank you for taking such a good care of us❤️

Been waiting for over 10hrs and still haven’t been seen. I can’t wait until the province goes private and these hospitals will have to compete and not have the monopoly on health care. I received better care in Cuba than I do in this overly expensive and far from effective sub par service we have here Edit - Ended up being 16hrs… I can’t wait until the public are given the option to go private

May 10, 2023 had a colonoscopy by Dr. Oliveira. The admission, support nurses, attending staff and doctor were all kind, courteous and efficient. I was walked through the process and attended by unbelievable nice people. I have never been a hospital as considerate and well managed as the Montford. Cheers from a very happy customer

My wife has delivers twice in the birthing ward, and our experience was very good. There is a sincere feeling that staff care and aren’t just doing a job, which is so important in a hospital, let alone the birthing ward. Our third is in their way and we’ll be going to Monfort again!

Not enough words to express my gratitude. People who are working here at the intense care are angels. They were treating us so very well, with a lot of respect. So many attention and care . Doctors whom we met are professionals. Answered all of our questions and did their best . Sincerely thank you ! Best of luck ❤️

If I could rate this hospital 0 stars I would… lack communication, knowledge and just general well being of their patients. THE WORSE HOSPITAL IN OTTAWA DO NOT GO THERE Montford hospital sent my grandmother who has lapses in her memory (not diagnosed dementia- cause god forbid we do that if we can’t even call the family) home without a call to the family. She is so confused. She has no idea how she got home or that she was even home. She thought she was still at the Civic hospital! This is the 2nd time in 3 months the the montford hospital sent her home without any contact to family!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡

Many of their departments are great, emergency overwhelmed like any other hospitals. Having 50% of people showing up with minor issues, to obtain a medical certificate for their work, should be kept in a separate area and let them wait. The only negative about this establishment is only hiring bilingual staff. They are tested for French before being hired but, no way many would pass English testing....

The worst service was at Monfort. We went via ambulance got checked in trade says at 1pm cleaning up and bed and will take you in ambulance left at 10:30pm we get called in must have been a dirty bed to take 9 hours to clean. Asked for pain meds 3 nurses said we are coming an hour later no one came went to another nurse she’s like on my way in a min 2 hours later no one came when I got upset then one nurse says we gave pain meds when u came at 1 and it’s a 1 time thing??!! I asked what’s taking so long for dr to come we waited 13 hours she replied we had a lady dying and 3 doctors had to attend to her, I was like ok so how long do we wait her reply was your welcome to go home, I asked if she can estimate the time we will still wait after 13 hours her reply was you can leave we aren’t holding you against your will.

This hospital profiles patients based on the name of their parents / mother tongue and preferred language of communication. They asked my 83 year old father to provide the hospital with the name of his parents when registering. And when I asked the crude staff at cardioclinic, Sylvie : “Why?” She told me if I have a problem, talk to management ! Basically dismissing my concern. What an “excellent “ service .

Took my bf here who was suffering from chest pain and heart attack symptoms. Was concerning that the first nurse we seen when walking in was suffering from drug withdrawals and scratching her back on the corner of the waiting room wall. After 5 hours they bruised his arm attempting to take blood. After 12 or so hours they told him he was at the top of the list and a doctor would see him next. After 14 hours they moved him to another waiting room, where the nurse loudly declared "I have no idea what's going on or when you'll get help" . As I walked away her and the nurse beside her could be heard laughing about him and how they didn't think he needed medical assistance. They did not take him seriously, and after 16 hours went home hungry and tired without seeing a doctor. Went to a different hospital after that where they were appalled by the behavior at Montfort, and seen to him right away. Will never willingly go back, and do not recommend.

Emergency staff is very caring. Equity based hospital. Treatment in a timely manner. Clean and sanitized. French and bilingual staff is a bonus. The medical devices are up to high standard. Best hospital experience I have had in Ottawa .⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Back in September of 2017 I was hospitalized for severe viral meningitis and I was transported to the ER via ambulance. I was taken right away but my experience in the ER was horrible. I passed out and awoke to residents trying to do a spinal tap and was being held down in a very uncomfortable position by a male nurse. They failed to do the tap 3 times before the neurologist took over and I passed out. When they waited for results I was placed in a isolation room no one was talking to me when I came to and a nurse came in to help me go to the bathroom then yelled at me for flushing. I had no idea what was going on until I was put into the ICU. The ICU team was wonderful and I was there for 2.5 days. I then was transferred to the floor where the dr who took my case didn’t even bother to read my chart and flatly said “so what are you here for exactly?” I was rarely ever checked up on the two days I was there no one helped me to a shower or encouraged me to walk around. On the last day they told me they needed the bed and I was well enough to leave. My ride wasn’t available until the afternoon and they said we will pay for a taxi. They unhooked me and had me walk out and I had to walk to the taxi bay. I hadn’t walked in days and I was disoriented and dizzy. Ever since then I have had a crippling fear of hospitals and how I was treated there. I will never go back there even if my life depended on it because it did once and the care was horrible. They also put me in a room with a patient who clearly was suffering from mental illness of some sort but they didn’t take it seriously when I awoke to her at the end of my bed prattling on about how the bathroom was unsafe. The nurse just moved her back and that was all. She came back to my bed again and again nothing was done. Do not go here!

While the wait was estimated at 17 hours while I was there, the green zone actually moved rather quickly in comparison. I was triaged at 3:30am, and was informed during triage that the green zone wasn't open until 8am, and the nurse suggested coming back around 6am, but I decided to just stay in the queue and wait there. Once the area was open I was sent for xrays within an hour or two, seen and treated and discharged by around 2pm. The nurse did mention other zones were moving more slowly as the zone I was in was mostly quick assessment and discharge things (stitches, etc). The doctor was amazing, thorough, and allowed me to make the ultimate final decision about a minor procedure or to wait and see if medication was enough of an intervention. I decided on the procedure, and he never made me feel pressured to choose otherwise, and was happy to do what was asked. When the nurse came to bandage me up she also sent me home with a dressing change so I wouldn't have to go to the store this evening as she knew i worked before going in and couldnt really walk after the procedure. We also had a chat about how difficult it is in the ERs, for both patients and staff, and how she sympathizes with everyone. This was my first experience in the Montfort ER and if I ever need to, I think it will be my first choice. The wait is worth the patient care. Little hint, they keep it pretty cold in there, so wear cozy layers and maybe bring a blanket as they have few available. But they do have phone charge stations and snacks in the vending machines in the ER area for the longer overnight stays like mine.
