    I love this gym so much. I have been a member for about 3 years. Previously, I was more of an individual worker-outer (yes, I made that word up) but now I go to the gym and laugh and carry on with everyone. I can still workout alone if I want or I can join a class if I feel like being more social or need the push to work harder. The owner, and other coaches, are the most non-judgemental, accepting, inclusive individuals I have ever met. Everyone is welcome in this gym as long as you are respectful of others. You will meet people of every walk of life here and you will make new friends even if the only thing you share is a good workout. I have gained a lot of strength since starting CrossFit and I have learned so many new skills. Highly recommend.

    The gym is fantastic and everyone was incredibly friendly. The coaches were great, welcomed me as soon as I walked through the door, and made me feel right at home. All the equipment was great and very clean. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone in the Ottawa area.

    Joined in September and have been massively impressed by the level of engagement by the owners, staff, volunteers and clients too. This community is very engaging and supportive of newcomers and have kept me coming back pretty much daily since I joined.

    CrossFit Bytown's got the basics down - easy sign-up, quick email replies, and a convenient location. But when it comes to the actual workout? Meh. Too much standing around, no real warm-up, and a session that ended 20 minutes early with a coach scrambling to fill time. Where's the structure? Where's the classic CrossFit community vibe? Missed the mark for me. Glad I checked it out, but I won't be rushing back.

    I am always so satisfied with my workouts when I drop-in here. It can be intimidating trying somewhere new but Everett has done a great job in creating a super welcoming environment.The coaches manage to make sure everyone is doing the movements properly and safely with weights for their level of fitness, whether it be an experienced athlete or someone just starting out with Crossfit. I drive from Carp to do drop-ins when my schedule allows it and it is always so worth it

    Huge disappointment. I've already dropped in at several gyms during my travels, and Crossfit Bytown has been a real disappointment. Minimalist facilities, no real changing rooms, mediocre training and above all I was disappointed to discover that there is NOT EVEN A SHOWER! Yes, yes, a crossfit room without a shower!! Obviously at Crossfit Bytown people don't sweat... This put me in difficulty because I had a professional meeting directly after training and no possibility of showering. Truly a disappointment on all levels, I bitterly regret this detour.

    Super spot for CrossFit. The trainers are attentive to newbies, great teachers, and good company as early as 6 am. The app booking system removes any obstacles to attending, and I so appreciate the classes pass which makes it easy to go whenever it fits in my schedule. Good community vibes, great health and safety, easy parking. Thumbs up Everett and team.

    I can't say enough great things about CrossFit Bytown. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly and knowledgeable staff who took the time to understand my fitness goals. The custom tailored equipment and well-designed layout and classes make every workout a pleasure. What truly sets CrossFit Bytown apart is the incredible sense of community they've fostered. The owner, trainers and fellow members are supportive and motivating, creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and encouraged to be their best. The variety of classes they offer, led by passionate instructors, who are so dedicated to helping you achieve your fitness and health goals, keeps me excited to come back each day. With pristine facilities and a fantastic location, top-notch trainers, and a vibrant atmosphere, CrossFit Bytown has truly become like second home. If you're looking for a gym that goes above and beyond to help you achieve your fitness goals, look no further. I simply cannot recommend highly enough. It really is the best gym in town in my opinion and I’ve tried most of them. :)

    It is a great gym with energetic and positive people. All trainers are supportive and kind. Especially, Juan Amario. I like his trainings so much! Unfortunately, the gym doesn't have a shower. It will be 5 starts if it appears!

    I was going to write a note to Everett about my experience so far, but I think a review might be a nicer gesture. As someone who has let himself get into very poor shape it can be intimidating going to any gym. I tried and failed at more typical gyms, not knowing what to do or where to start, and finally decided to take the plunge and sign up for Crossfit. From the start I felt welcome and encouraged. I was carefully shown how to take my time, how to correct my form, how to get the most out of what I could do. I leave each workout feeling like I gave it my all, even if I don't have as much to give as everyone else. The workouts are hard enough that I don't have time to feel self-conscious, but they're a nice mix of interesting, challenging (and almost...fun?) workouts mixed with exercises that ask for as much as I can give. It's strange to say, but I find myself looking forward to going to the classes. It really helps me that once I've added myself to a class that becomes an appointment in my day, as important as any meeting or date or event. That kind of structure works for me. I look forward to seeing some of the same faces, working alongside people who are on their own journey. I've also been really impressed with the amount of attention I get from the trainers. I don't feel like they're over my shoulder all the time, but I'm given thoughtful feedback about my form, catching my mistakes, and explaining why my body moves the way it does and what to watch for. This means when I make mistakes I'm starting to understand what the mistake was, and how to fix it, and what to pay attention to. I'm early in my journey. Everyone else can run faster, jump higher and lift more weight than me, but I'm looking forward to the progress and I'm enjoying having this in my life, which is strange for me to say. It's still hard, it's still intimidating, and progress comes achingly slowly, but I'm enjoying myself and I recommend this gym to anyone, from a beginner to an experienced athlete.

    Can’t say a enough good things about CrossFit Bytown, met amazing people, which is a plus since I was new in Ottawa when I started and the coaches are the best. :) Been looking for a CrossFit for a while now, and super happy I found CrossFit Bytown. It’s been great, always looking forward to the classes because I know I’ll be having a good time. On top of it all, the coaches are attentive and will help out to adapt classes to your skills set (or if you are injured), they also make sure you’re doing it all correctly and having fun. Recommend x1000/10, don’t think twice about it

    I’ve been going to this gym for a handful of years and I love it. I’d resisted trying CrossFit for years because the workouts were intimidating and frankly, from the outside, the whole thing seemed like a trendy fitness cult. But, as it turns out, the vibe at Bytown is inclusive and friendly in a low-key kind of way that I really appreciate. The coaches do a great job of striking the right balance between taking the workouts seriously while also keeping things light and fun. It’s also worth noting that this gym has somehow managed to attract a consistently respectful and easygoing clientele, which goes a long way to making Bytown a chill place to workout. Five stars!

    I've been in CrossFit gyms for 13+ years. The Bytown staff know, apply, and teach the fundamentals – the key to long-term success in building and maintaining fitness, no matter who you are. Always a welcoming and friendly crowd of people of all sorts of backgrounds and experience. My gym home since moving to Ottawa.

    I have been going to Crossfit Bytown for almost two years and I love it. The trainers are informative, professional, non-judgemental and friendly. The other members are welcoming and supportive. Bytown gives you the chance to have a great workout while connecting with new people you otherwise would not have met. Going to crossfit I’ve been able to reach a level of strength I didn’t realize I had. I never would have imagined I could squat 200 lbs! I can’t recommend this gym enough.

    The environment is welcoming and inclusive from the moment you walk in you get a real sense of community with the staff and members (not in a fitness pretentious kind of way). If you are a CrossFit Newb like me and need a little extra support the coaches are exceptional they are so experienced and knowledgeable and really take the time with you if you need it. Highly recommend!

    Recently moved to Ottawa and was looking for a gym that cares about more than just lifting weights. I tried a few gyms in town when I just got here but I couldn't meet anyone. Great gyms just hard to meet people. I have met my best friends from the gyms and through lifting before and find I get along with those types of folks. Guess what? CrossFit Byward is exactly what I was looking for. From day one everyone is super engaging. You start the classes with introducing yourself and answering a fun daily question. That makes it easy for everyone to learn about each other. Everett the owner along with other coaches are extremely involved. Even when they are not coaching a class you see a couple coaches other than the one who is teaching the class is walking around and chatting with people. They don't try to help you with just lifting weights. I know they are also involved with helping the community with addiction or folks that are in recovery. I genuinely feel really lucky I found this place. My partner is really not comfortable in a "gym environment" and it makes her very anxious but now that she has heard me talking about CrossFit Bytown she has asked me to talk to Everett and give it try for her. I hope if anyone is even thinking of getting some help to increase their health and quality of life like myself at least give this place a shot and come for a few classes and see how it goes. Also there are classes pretty much every hour of the day so super flexible if you have a busy schedule like me.

    After looking up CrossFit gyms in the city I came across CrossFit Bytown. I had a good feeling about it and I was right. Incredibly welcoming and helpful trainers as well as a supportive community. I felt immediately comfortable after my first class. They offer a range of different classes which makes it easy to find exactly what you are looking for.

    Went in for an 11am WOD today. Visiting from Hamilton. Everett was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Challenging WOD today with front squats, power cleans and burpees. Felt like I belonged there : ) I’ll come back out next time I am visiting family in Ottawa. Thanks for a great work out!!

    I normally workout in Kingston at a different gym, but I get the pleasure of dropping in at Bytown every couple of weekends. The coaches are great even though I see them sporadically and I always get a good sweat in. Would recommend for anyone looking for a long-term gym or as a drop-in if you're in the area for a weekend.

    I've started one month ago, after not doing much during the pandemic. I decided to go particularly to this gym. I wanted something challenging and fun to do! They guided me to what type of classes should I start with and how many days a week. Until now, I've been feeling comfortable and eager to go every time I have a class scheduled (they use an app which I think is the best way to have your spot secured, to the class you want to go). Trainers are always the best, and ready to help you with everything they can! I love that :) The ambiance in general is fun and relax as well!

They meet you where you are at and always offer scaling options to make sure you are comfortable with the movements you are doing. If you want to reach your goals, this place is where your hard work will be met with encouragement, support and they will always push you to be better.     This place.. The coaches are magnificent. The banter is spot on. The programming is outstanding. I’m absolutely smitten. The classes are varied and run all day long. There’s even an 11am and a 3pm class which is pretty much unheard of. There’s a kids class at 5pm on Sundays and they also run a program for folks who are training through various stages of recovery. I’ve broken more than one PB within weeks of starting with them alongside many a giggle. So welcoming and unpretentious. I just can’t say enough about the good happening over there.

    There are several things I can say about this fine place so let's get started. I joined just under a year ago. My body, my mindset and energy levels have gone through quite the transformation. I am happy I committed to this place. After numerous failed attempts to restart my fitness journey, this one finally stuck but this wasn't by accident or good luck. Yes, I had a part in it but the trainers here played a big part in it. They are truly invested and genuine in their desire to get you to where you want. I never felt embarrassed or judged. It can be intimidating walking in there and seeing all of these fit people do magnificent things. I will caution you that it took me a few months to get used to all of this. It was painful but that was all of my own doing. Once you surpass that hurdle it actually becomes fun. You find exercises you like and ones you will never like even though you try. Their programs are challenging and it pushes you. I go 2x per week but should be going more. Still, it's a good workout with incredible benefits. The location is smaller than you'd expect at some of the smaller gyms which I prefer. The trainers are approachable both on a professional and personal level. It's always a warm smile and hello when you get there. They are open to suggestions but also to answer questions. The monthly fees are competitive with other locations but costly compared to discount gyms. But I was tired of looking to benefit from discounts because there you get no service - here you do. And given the cost, it forces you to make use of the facilities and to go. I like that I can take my daughter once a week (for free) to a CrossFit Kids class which she likes. And it's good exposure for her. I also like the bring a friend Saturday (again for free) session which can be fun. On occasion I have asked for a free class for a friend and it was never a problem but my asks were rare and infrequent. The place doesn't have showering facilities but you can get changed there. They have ample free parking which is a huge plus given the location. The place is clean and the equipment is current. They have a very useful App to book classes and keep up to date with things. It's easy to use and handy with some cool features. They have formed quite a positive culture there that is both encouraging and empowering. Just go. You will have. Get over whatever is apprehending you and you will be fine. Bring some water...you will need it.

    I’ve started Crossfit in Ottawa during my stay there for 4months and i had the best experience ! Coachs are so nice, supportive and take care of you ! I’ve meet real friends that i will keep for life and had the best and challenging work out that you can expect as physically active person !! I truly recommend this place ! Seriously ! Special mention for the coach Juan, he is insane ! 😉

    Fantastic place to workout. When I first came here I hadn't been to a gym in 20 years and was starting to notice the effects of an aging body that was becoming weaker. I'm now in my mid-40s and far stronger and fitter than I've ever been. The coaches do a phenomenal job of explaining the how and why of every movement. Every day is a new challenge and even after coming here for years I still end up trying something I've never done before about once a month.

    Attended a 6am CrossFit class while visiting Ottawa for business. The registration/booking process was very straightforward, and the class (coached by Juan) was great. The bonus post-WOD abs SESSION was a nice surprise! Highly recommended for anyone looking for Crossfit-type workouts in Ottawa.

    This is one of the best gyms that I have joined. The knowledge of the coaches and support from them is amazing. Right from the first day that I entered the gym, in October 2019, I felt welcomed from the coaches and the other members-it really is an amazing community. I would encourage anyone to try a workout with them, you will enjoy it tremendously!

    I have been a member at Bytown for over 4 years now. It is the most inclusive and welcoming box. No matter your fitness level or ability, the coaches and members will welcome you. I also love that Bytown is very involved in the community. From fundraisers, giving back to less fortunate people from the neighbourhood, welcoming adaptive athletes, to a program for people recovering from addictions. They also have classes throughout the day, as opposed to some gyms that only have morning and evening classes. If you're thinking of joining a box, do not hesitate to check Bytown out. I cannot recommend them enough.

    I've been to many gyms in almost 7 years of Crossfit, but this one is one of the BEST. All the coaches are super knowledgeable, they give excellent tips and corrections and are just great people. I am currently pregnant so my top priority is to workout safely, and I am very confident I am in good hands. Their response to covid-19 was very well thought from the beginning. Each person has their own station with proper distancing and the equipment is sanitized after each workout, so you can be sure all precautions are taken. Last but not least, the community is very welcoming, people are very nice and supportive.

    I've been doing CrossFit for almost 10 years and CrossFit Bytown is one of the most friendliest and inclusive gyms I've been a member of. They offer a variety of group classes, and the coaches are able to work with various skill levels. The programming is constantly varied and challenging, too! I'm happy to be apart of the CrossFit Bytown community.

    Bytown is amazing! After trying several other CrossFit gyms, I finally found one to call home. The coaches are so knowledgeable and they really treat you like family. Everyone is so helpful and accommodating especially if you have injuries. The facility is super clean; and specially during covid they have gone above and beyond to ensure their members safety. Bravo bytown, the best gym in town.

    Started out with the 3 day free trial and was hooked thereafter ! Great community vibe, experienced & knowledgeable coaches and great workouts :) Update: Been a member a little over 2 years and thoroughly impressed with the coaching staff and members. Always a lovely community atmosphere, support during tough workouts and coaches ensure you are using proper technique. Since the pandemic, they have done virtual classes, organized game nights, outdoor activities and rented equipment which made working out from home not so bad. Keep it up!

    I've been training at Crossfit Bytown since they first opened in 2012, and I love it! It's my home away from home, awesome coaches, friendly and welcoming community, and a very well equipped space.

    I've felt included since the day I started in October! CrossFit Bytown is the least intimidating gym I've been to and that's why I keep coming back. I'm always encouraged to ask questions and have already learned a lot in my short time here. You can tell the coaches really care—they always make sure that you're heard and having a good time.

    One of the best (crossfit) gyms I have ever joined. No matter which class, I was always under professional supervision. I am grateful to all coaches for their support, the commitment and positive energy with which they teach the classes. I will especially miss the Oly classes and the Strongfit classes. ;-( If I will come back to Ottawa, this will be my first stop and I would be happy to see familiar faces again. :-) Thank you CF Bytown and greets to all of the team!     It would be one thing to say that this gym has excellent hours and all the tools needed for any discipline, be it powerlifting, calisthenics, strongman etc. The real reason this place shines is the coaches, especially the head coach Everett Sloan. All the coaches are knowledgeable and very helpful, but Everett has time and again gone out of his way for me and other members. Be it one on one coaching at no extra cost, giving advice on off his off days, giving out equipment to his members during lockdown, since going to Bytown I have not once thought of any other facility being worth the time or investment thanks to Everett and the team at Bytown. I've personally seen the ubermensch and people in very poor shape thrive and enjoy being at Bytown. Go to Bytown, talk to the coaches about your goal, try out the Strongfit classes(they are the best) and gain a healthy appreciation for sandbags and sleds.

    I stopped by from out of town to the StrongFit class this weekend. I was staying close by and although I don't do crossfit anymore, I often go to one while I'm travelling. I LOVED this class. It wasn't like anything I've done before. I must have do 2 sets of about 2min of work and my legs were shot. I couldn't walk! Everette was a great coach who really cares the members and has a really passion for what he does. I would highly recommend going here. It's not your typical crossfit "kill yourself' mentality, with high loads and high volume. Great programming for the long term.

    Recently joined this crossfit place. The workout has a great variety, and it is fun. You feel good after an intensive one hour workout. Great people.

    I went into Bytown with zero experience, I'm the type of girl who almost failed gym classes and couldn't like a sport if you paid me. The coaches and the classmates have never once made me feel out of place, they welcomed me with smiles and helped me adjust the workouts so that now a year later I can keep up with the rest of the class! Last July, I ran my first Spartan race!! The philosophy isn't just about getting in shape, it's about being strong, living longer, and being healthy. To me that really changed my perspective on physical activities and made me fall in love with CrossFit. The cool thing about this gym is it's not all CrossFit, there's StrongFit, yoga, defence classes, seminars, classic strength, etc. I've made close friends here and learned things that will last a lifetime! If you're like me, come in to CrossFit Bytown and check it out, you will not be disappointed.

    Love this gym! Small but mighty. Great community and atmosphere. Everybody is super friendly and welcoming. The coaches are very knowledgeable and can adapt to everyone’s fitness capabilities and needs. They make CrossFit accessible to EVERYONE! Wouldn’t want to train anywhere else.

    I was in town for work and decided to visited Crossfit Bytown for a workout. My experience with CrossFit over the years often ended feeling like I did not understand the workout, like I didn’t get the attention and guidance I needed and at times ended with various injuries. The worst of them was a severe disk herniation from which I am just now recovering, over a year and a half of treatments later. I was hesitant to try CrossFit again but I was also itching to feel like I could workout as I did pre-injury. I am so thrilled we tried Crossfit Bytown. I cannot say enough good things about this gym and about the owner Everett Sloan. Everett not only asked about my injury in detail, but he kept a constant eye on me throughout the entire class, tweaking my form and giving me movement options so that I could keep up without risk of re injury and also understand the goal of the workout. I had full peace of mind that I was being watched and guided through every step. At the end of the class Everett made a point to sit down with me and talk about my injury, offer an endless amount of great advice and guidance towards moving forward to prevent injury and be able to workout safely. I am extremely impressed with the attention, care and knowledge I was met with at Crossfit Bytown. 100% recommended and will definitely return whenever I’m in town next. Coached like Everett are seriously hard to find!

    Great gym! Coaches give helpful feedback for improving technique & increasing intensity, members know each others' names & help each other, there are many group fitness options for building muscles, & the music is good.

    Crossfit Bytown has everything I was looking for in a CrossFit gym! The coaches are very knowledgeable and there to personalize their coaching! The community has a real team spirit, where members support each other and push each other to their limits, while also being warm and welcoming. Truly like a third family to me.
