I have been to every gym you can imagine in the area (ronin, evolution-tristar, oama, team bushido pre oama fusion, arcana, k2, thΓ©rien). I have been training actively (3 -6 times a week for a minimum of 2 hours each time) for 14 years. I can say, this is the first and only review I will write because it merits to be written. First, it is important to understand the quality of an instructor. Well, Kru Naaron, the owner and operator is passionate about fighting above all else. This is important because his dedication is unforgettable, his love for the Thai people and Muay Thai is evident. He has trained and comes from the line of Ajar Bob Carver, who is known to be one of the pioneers that brought Muay Thai to North America. Ajar Carver was instrumental in bringing original teachers here for seminars directly from Thailand. Ajar Carver entrusted his school and his principals of knowledge onto Kru Naaron. Once you understand this, you understand that by training at N-1 Thai Boxing, you get the best, most committed teachers you can hope for. Respect for tradition and heritage is a large part of martial arts, but with the coming popularity of the new age mixed martial artists and the need to sell seats in the arenas, many warriors have turned to rude, disrespectful verbal abuses which of course leads to people sometimes getting carried away into their egos and forgetting the basic fundamentals of Martial Arts world wide: To forge the mind through the forging of the body. To make our spirit, a stronger steel. Naaron leads by example and treats people with respect and dignity. Not all follow this rule of course. Like at any other gym, you will find a few people who are full of themselves and act kind but inwardly think less of you. But for the most part, I would say that, in so far as instructors, I can think of only 1 who is full of himself, but out of general decorum, he shall remain nameless in this review. Lastly, the price is flexible and reasonable. I have been there almost 3 years now, and Naaron has not raised the prices on me, although he could have. Like I said, respect goes a long way. I'm not working for N-1, I am not in any way associated with them for anything. This is just one of those rare gems that you stumble on and just can't ever forget. This is the last place of the true martial artists, where ego, money, performance and entertainment do not take priority over growth of self, expression of self and betterment of self. Thank you N-1.

Good boxing, instructor, he taught how to slide punches and various combinations using in. He was checking up on me, even though it was my first class. Though I wouldnt recommend starting on the heavy bag, if it's your first time, because your knuckles won't be conditioned as the other people who have been training there longer. Def recommend hitting a partner mitts first.

N1 Thai Boxing Academy is the best Muay Thai club in Ottawa. Its an exceptional facility with great fundamental & advanced classes with solid equipment to help you take your training to the next level. Although Coach Naaron specializes in Muay Thai he is also a true student of The Sweet Science. Most of my experience/training has been in Boxing so I do have a sharp eye when I see another student of boxing knowledge. Ottawa is limited with its boxing clubs but for the boxers out there, N1 Thai Boxing is another option as Coach Naaron is a certified Boxing coach is hands down the best boxing trainer/coach in Ottawa. As for his Muay Thai pedigree... It speaks for itself.

I tried the All-levels Muay Thai class and as a newbie I felt totally welcome here . I have 3 months experience with Muay Thai and felt like I needed a refresher and also a space to learn new skills! This gym was the perfect spot for that. Many thanks to all Kru's!

Came here while on vacation. Knowledgeable instructors that offer good classes. Good environment to train that's encouraging for all levels.

Space has expanded over the years, joining two rooms into one. Only complaint is the difficulty in keeping cool for the summer, and warm in the winter. Stay hydrated, and always bring your own towel. N1 offers their space for other clubs to practice, and allows us to keep our spare (expendable) Bo staffs on location. They have a boxing ring, speed and heavy bags, showers and emergency first aid kits. It is very difficult to find a better space.

Amazing place for all levels. The experienced members have no problem jumping in and helping out the beginners. If you're thinking about joining any gym, make it this one

Took a free class here and even though I didn't end up registering, I enjoyed the experience. Staff was friendly and accommodating and made me feel welcome.

I have been training here since 2017. I have also been doing martial arts since the age of 5, also taught martial arts for 5 years. This place is by far, the most friendly gym I have trained at, the instructors put you first and the owner isn't there to just have you pay for your progression. They teach very well and will treat you like family.

Awesome gym! I'm learning a ton of great new skills. The facilities are very clean, and it has a very friendly and inviting atmosphere. Also has a large array of classes to choose from, from muay thai to kettles bells.

My experience at N1 as been fantastic! This place is more than just a gym, this is a group of people that are all striving to be something more and support everyone to do better as if they were family. As the other google reviews say the treatment you receive upon entering is unreal. Dave welcomes you as if he has known you for years and does a fantastic job answering all your questions. He comes across very genuine and wants to help you not just because he has to but because he cares. My first class was quite full but was very well run, the instructor did a great job of getting around to everyone giving 1 on 1 help where needed. As someone that has never done Muay Thai before I felt very well instructed and taken care of. At the end of class he even took the time to check in on me and my experience during the class. My second class was just as good but with a bit extra! One of the other coaches Vince was doing his own separate work out and was not "on the clock" took lots of time from what he was doing to come and help me with the basics as I'm clearly a noob! That said a lot to me, he was willing to help not because he had to but because he wanted to. If you live in Ottawa and are interested in any of the classes they provide (and they have a lot) do your self a favor and go! Don't think about just go! Everyone thats there is there because they're passionate about what they do. Great place, amazing people and an unbeatable support system. They've got me hooked and I will be training here indefinitely.

As a beginner to Muay Thai N-1 has been amazing, great instructors and comfortable atmosphere. The skills I have learnt in a short time have given me confidence to train ! After being tired of training in a regular "gym" I never knew how addictive muay thai and boxing could be - I encourage anyone to try , and after that I know you will want to continue going back!

Great student discounts, very knowledgeable staff, an incredible workout especially if you attend the kettlebell and strength conditioning classes. All in all the best gym to go for getting into better shape or becoming skilled in the art of muay thai. I have not been there long- about 4 weeks- but I know ill keep going aslong as I am in Ottawa. I have seen a lot of improvement in my striking and kicking in just this short amount of time so I'm excited to see what another 4 months will do for me.

Great muay thai and Brazilian Brazilian jiujitsu. Both classes were able to offer a great experience as a beginner and what looked to be like useful progressions for those who were more advanced.

I have been a member with this Club for a little over 3 years. During this time frame the classes, trainers, students and owner have been great in every way. Truly a top shelf and professional environment that caters to all walks of life, all levels and disciplines. If you are looking for a traditional Thai Club and one that focuses on technique as well as high intensity, then this is the place for you. Check it out!

They treat you like family the moment you walk in. There is never any pressure to commit long-term, and the instructors are all super legit. Went there primarily for BJJ and had an amazing experience. I can't stress enough how friendly the staff is - I had an opportunity arise in another city and had to leave and they let me out without any fuss. Best gym in Ottawa hands down.
