Not sure where the previous 1 star reviews are coming from. Seems like they are reviewing a place based on some music being played onto the sidewalk (like every other bar or restaurant on Elgin, hardly anything new). Have they even tried the classes? These reviews have compelled me to write one praising this place. I have been a few times so far for 6am classes, for both barre and spin. The staff are exceptionally friendly so early in the morning and will answer any questions you have and show you how to use the equipment. The hours and times offered for classes is better than other spin places in the area for my schedule. Its literally around the corner from me so is very convenient. I cant wait to continue my fitness journey with Barres and Wheels! Editing to add: i have now attended multiple barre and wheels classes on different days/times. I still feel that the staff is great and the teachers are well trained, i have had 5 spin teachers and 3 barre teachers and have enjoyed them all. I always feel like I got a good workout. I also have been to the Barre Stretch classes at thurs at 7pm and I really enjoy them. They are extremely relaxing and give you time to stretch and be mindful before doing a bit of barre and returning to stretching. Awesome lights and music make a chill environment while you stretch. I still find that this place offers the most options for the best price in the area

Great addition to Elgin. I've been to a few Spin studios and none have compared to the great experience you get here. Staff are nice and knowledgable and offer something for everyone. It's a fun place to get a sweat on.

I cannot say enough good things about Barres and Wheels - Elgin. I mainly go there to spin, but if you are into barre, the studio is beautiful. The spin instructors are amazing, I am always happy to be there, and leave elated after such an amazing workout each and every time. There is nothing better than working out while having fun. You get lost in the music and ride to the beat of the music. In other words, you just went clubbing, lost calories, and gained muscle. I mean, that’s pretty much perfect. Each instructor has their own unique style of teaching, and they always have bomb tracks to keep you motivated. The studio is super cute, the color-changing lights make the ambiance fun, and the bikes are top-notch. The staff has always been very kind and welcoming, I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a fun workout!

I’ve taken several spin classes since December, with instructors Katie and Dee. Awesome energy! Excellent workout! Clean studio and change rooms. Change rooms have lockers and essentials (shower gel, shampoo, towels, moisturizer, hair dryer, etc). Friendly staff. My only complaint is that the entry area on the main floor gets very congested when classes end and the next class is waiting to go in. Apart from that, great place!

The instructors are wonderful, the staff are extremely helpful and the classes are fun. The membership is very reasonable compared to some other places in town so you really can't lose.

I bought a two week unlimited membership and was unable to register for classes online due to a glitch in the system. I called the Elgin location and the receptionist was very rude and incompetent, and somehow irritated that I called. She couldn't hear me because they had the music cranked so loud and had no idea how to remedy the issue. Her solution was to register right before attending each class in-person (which would mean that I would have to drive there and the classes could already be full; wasting my time). Needless to say this has been an incredibly poor introduction to this company. I ended up calling the Wellington location, where their receptionist knew right away about the system glitch and how to resolve it. Do yourself a favour and skip the Elgin location.

Paid 50$ for a 2 week unlimited membership, after trying out 1 class I realized it was not the right fit for me. Asked for a refund the very next day, and eventually the owner (through the studio manager) declined, saying what I paid for does not constitute a membership (so then what is it?). I have yet to hear from the owner. I would not recommend this studio as they do not seem to function in good faith and lack transparency. For anyone considering this studio, just know that they claim they are not selling memberships (yet they call them "membership packages" on their website). If a customer is not satisfied with your service, show some good faith and give them a refund regardless of the reason.

It's literally perfect, from the instructors, studios, workouts and front desk people, I give it a 10/10. Barres and Wheels made me like going to the gym again. It's also very aesthetic and cute. I wish they return the food/coffee bar soon !!

Love this new spot! Tried both spin and barre and they were both fun and great workouts. I wasn't sure if they offered spin in a dark room and they do with colourful lights!

New to barre, and decided to try a class a few weeks ago for fun. Best decision ever! Barre workouts are excellent, very friendly and welcoming staff. No stress even if you're new and a beginner like me! Instructors are all A+ and playlists have all been fun and great. Can't say enough good things!

I have been attending fitness classes at Barres + Wheels Elgin since it's opening - after spinning at nearly studio in the downtown area, this is hands down one of the most inclusive communities of all! No matter the body type, gender and/or ethnicity you feel SO welcomed. The staff & instructors always go out of their way to make you feel equipped for your fitness class and answer questions. For spin classes, you best believe you will get the best full body workout in 45 mins - it goes by SO FAST. There is a perfect balance between the instructors, especially at this location. No matter what your music preference there is a spin instructor for you! Just when you think you are about to quit, a new track comes on and totally motivates you to keep going! For barre classes, you will sweat & feel the burn in the most intense ways but also enjoy it so much you will come back for more! The instructors often provide corrections if you position/posture will make you prone to injury. The best part about this studio is the sense of community - if you are like me and have difficulty sticking to a workout routine to lack of motivation - this place is for you! The workouts alone will motivate you to come back, however if you need extra reassurance, the instructors can hold you accountable by inviting you to attend more classes throughout the week. The B+W owner and staff have fostered a wonderful fitness community - THANK YOU.

Such a great spin studio! The instructors and front desk are so helpful. If it's your first time, show up a little early before your class and the instructors will get you all set-up on your bike. The classes by Katie, Jessica, and Michelle are so fun!

I love the spin classes offered here, especially Katie, Cameron, and Bianca’s classes. The classes are challenging and fun! They also provide clear instructions for beginners, such as myself. The facility is beautiful and clean. Everything you need is there; I love how spin shoes and towel rentals are provided without additional charge. Receptionists are always nice and attentive to the students!

I love Barres and Wheels! The room for Spin class is larger than others in the city, meaning there are more bikes available and more space between you and other attendees. I appreciate the space as it keeps you cooler and more comfortable during your workout. I love the barre classes! My favorite barre Instructors are Meighan and Emma. My favorite wheels instructor is Bianca! Try out their classes, the new client deal is a total steal!

I have never cycled before, and began at Barres and Wheels Elgin as a complete newbie. I felt so welcomed as a beginner and the staff has been so amazing at teaching/guiding me through the bike set-up, etc. Not only this, but the cycling workouts are really great and definitely beginner-friendly (as there's no pressure if you can't keep up and it's a very uplifting atmosphere).

Warning: this place may become addictive!! If you haven't tried barre yet I highly recommend it. It's a low impact, full body workout that challenges you both physically and mentally. You can really start to notice changes in your body and strength so quickly . The instructors are so so knowledgeable and are all so effective in motivating you throughout the workout and you just leave feeling like you can conquer the world! I have to say, when I joined I thought I hated spin but can honestly say I've become addicted! The music choices and the instructors themselves make you forget that you're sweating buckets and make it feel like you're just dancing to the music. The facility itself helps as well! The sound system is great, the room has coloured lights that change depending on the track, there's tons more space/ more bikes than I've seen in other spin studios, and they have screens at the front that display your stats (if you opt in) that they use to do actual races! (If you're like me and are a competitive person, this can really boost your workout!) The whole facility is super clean and well designed. The change rooms are quite spacious and fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hairspray, spray deodorant, and towels are available from the front desk. Last but not least, all of the staff are super friendly and accommodating and they make this place feel like home. They've somehow managed to build a little barres and wheels community and I can personally say that it has changed my life and gives me something to look forward to everyday!

Barres + Wheels is by far one of the best studios in Ottawa! All of their instructors are amazing and they’ve built such a great community at their studios. If you’re debating on joining, sign up for their 2 week trial for unlimited classes!

I started doing spin classes two months ago at Barres and Wheels and now go almost everyday and have taken up their barre classes as well! The welcoming atmosphere, great workouts and friendly staff have made the experience amazing for me so far and has kept me super motivated to go back for more! Love this place.

Two types of classes with a different spin by the various instructions: barre - core work (which I manage only to do during group classes) with a de-stress/relax/stretch component at the end, and wheels - extra intense spin classes that work out cardio & core to make you lose weight fast. They loan out the shoes for it at $2 per use. Positive vibe instructors with happy music. Always leave class feeling good. Joined on a $50 2 week first time user, plan to continue after on one of its plans to lose the winter weight/covid stay at home weight fast, and then tone up some...

Staff is very friendly. Classes will challenge you, and spinning is extra fun! I am not at my first try of gyms around Ottawa, and this place is a much welcomed and needed addition to the area. Only thing missing is: a water fountain. Water bottles have to be filled in the changing rooms.

Update: Still can't say enough good about the entire team at Barres and Wheels Elgin. This place has such a good vibe. And they have new classes! So excited for Piloxing and Hatha Flow! Piloxing is a must-try! Such an empowering workout. Never experienced something quite like it that incorporates dancing, boxing and Pilates. And what a fantastic instructor leading the class, Nicole G. is awesome! I also highly recommend trying the Hatha Flow yoga classes. Such a relaxing experience while also getting a good stretch and toning workout. From start to finish the class has a nice continuous flow of movement, and the instructor makes it easy to follow along. The Hatha Flow classes have me leaving for work with a feeling of inner peace and like I'm ready to tackle the day. _____________________________________________________________________ 3 months ago Very thankful for the arrival of Barres and Wheels on Elgin, definitely one business that cares about its customers. I started going to Barres and Wheels Elgin in October and each time I can count on a warm welcome, professional and knowledgeable instructors, a fun, unique and challenging workout, and a clean facility. Beyond impressed with this place, which has managed to create a friendly, family-like atmosphere. Overall excellent staff and instructors---a special shout out to Nicole G.’s 6:00 a.m., 7:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. classes, what a fantastic manager/instructor who is passionate and knowledgeable. I was reluctant at first to commit to the 6:00 a.m. barre classes, but what a great way to start the day, definitely worth the effort required to get there early.

Two years ago I wrote my first review for Barres and Wheels (see below). All I can say is that I loved it then, and I continue to love it today. It’s literally my favourite studio ever. I mainly go there for spin, but if you are into Barre, the studio is beautiful! The lights and the ambience make the experience that much more enjoyable as well. I recently moved to Kanata, and at first I was worried I wouldn’t be able to go anymore, but I still manage to make it on time even though it takes me an hour to get there…that should give you an idea of how much I love it! What I love most about Barres and Wheels is how inclusive it is of all ages and fitness levels. You don’t have to worried about anyone judging you or looking at you because everyone is doing their own thing. Also, it’s quite dark in the room so for those who hate feeling like they are being stared at like at the gym, this place is for you! Well, particularly in the spin room. Also, the spin room is beautiful with awesome colour changing lights that make it as if you are at the club dancing! Don’t expect a boring ride because you will be riding to the beat of the music and doing all kinds of fun choreographies! Every instructor has their own style of teaching and music so you’ll get plenty of variety and it will never be a dull ride. It’s only 45min, but I wish it was an hour long! In addition, I feel very safe going there during these crazy times. They clean everything very well, the bikes are very spaced apart and capacity is at less that 50%. Lastly, I would like to add that everyone is always incredibly kind and helpful! <3

I LOVE Barres and Wheels! I have never done spin or barre before and Barres and Wheels has made my experience amazing! I am addicted to spin classes! The instructors are fun, kind, and super knowledgable. They have great playlists and will get you pumped up every class! All of the classes are beginner-advanced friendly, you can adjust your pace and gear to the level you're at. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, I always feel like I belong in the studio. They offer multiple member packages so you'll be able to find the right fit for you! If you're looking for an exciting and fun way to exercise, this is the place! I've been to both the Wellington and Elgin location and they are both awesome! Highly recommend Barres and Wheels!!!
