This place is too awesome for words! The staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming - everyone was absolutely terrific! It's on the second floor of an old converted house and the setting an audience is really neat. The cocktail menu is extensive and clearly everyone there was enjoying themselves! Absolutely suitable for vegans/vegetarians and clearly willing to work with any other food restrictions. We shared some guacamole while waiting for a table to open up at the restaurant downstairs and it was absolutely delicious! It was also extremely wonderful they kept our water glasses full of ice cold water on a very hot day! Much appreciated! (It is cash only, but they have an ATM on sight.) Я люблю цей ресторан! Добре для веганів або вегетаріанців. Ви повинні відвідати!

Let me first confess I have never done a restaurant review but this place has been on my mind since my last visit one week ago. I cannot say enough about the genuine ,pure and spiritually organic deliciousness of the atmosphere, service, drink and food. It is a doll hair away from being my new general obsession but fulfills my resto obsession placing it #1 on restaurant favorites. Whilst naturally craving the Flavours of food and beverage in a impressionable venue It is not often I crave those aspects along with atmosphere like I do at JABBERWOCKY. Thanks guys for the fulfilling my needs of human experience through artistic expression !!

As a non-vegan, this place was phenomenal. Staff were great. The cocktails are super creative and different, plus delicious. I would suggest this place to anyone.

Came here last night for the cinq à sept 1/2 price apps and select drink list . Chose 4 of the 5 vegan apps and they were all delicious - and so original. I'm not even vegan, but really enjoyed our dinner. Oh and the white sangria was so tasty... not too sweet, just as I requested. Thank you!!

Great cocktails and tasty apps. Kind staff that showed us the difference between beeswax gin and regular gin. Cool art.

Went to Jabberwocky for the first time last night, to celebrate our anniversary. Great sour selection! We also got to test run their new dessert and my gosh, is it ever good!

Great food experience for vegetarians/ vegans. Awesome selection of craft beers and unique cocktails. Only one downside..... the chairs at the back are extremely uncomfortable and left me with an aching back.

Seriously some of the most stellar vegan food you can find. Cocktails off the hook. Decor is a wild ride.

I will start by simply saying THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN OTTAWA for both food AND service. No joke, the only regret I have is not coming here sooner. They have a vegan menu that is half price many days of the week from 5-7PM. This is some of the best if the best food (vegan or non vegan) I have eaten in Ottawa. I believe the chef's name is Drew (I could be wrong) but that guy does miracles with food. Everything on that menu is so damn delicious, they even have a vegan chicken sandwich that tastes so amazing and I promise you that EVERY bite you take you will be shocked that you are not eating a real chicken sandwich. They also have other awesome menu items like the tostada (that my wife gets every time now) and smoked tofu with plantain with slaw which is also amazing. The flavours are out of this world. I've never eaten vegan food like this, or food in general lol. Another thing I have to mention is the amazing service this place has. I have had the pleasure of being served by Eric who has made my experience amazing every time I went. He is very nice, funny, accommodating, and is great at recommending what to get. He always made sure everything was going great, and made sure you have an excellent experience. Also they have amazing cocktails that are also half price often and a great selection of beer such as Jelly King. All in all this place is the complete package and is officially MY FAVORITE place to go in Ottawa. Honestly amazing job. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, or a meat eater go here and prepare to get your mind blown. Seriously i'd give this place more than 5 stars if I could.

Cute little bar at the upper level of Union Local 613. Only sells vegetarian/vegan small snacks. Reservations are available for small parties of over 15-30 people. Only downside is that it is cash only, but there is a ATM on the same level and the 1$ charge goes towards a good cause.

Great drinks. Cocktails are up to the same high standard as downstairs (Union 613). Food is basically a selection of interesting bar snacks, the 3 we had were incredibly good. Ideal spot for a (boozy) lighter dinner. Though I still felt full.

I’ve been to all of the best restaurants in Ottawa and was surprised to learn about Jabberwocky which I had never heard of until a few days ago. The menu looked lovely so I decided to try it out. We ordered 3 dishes (beef tataki, mackerel and the yellow fin) and we were completely blown away. I have dubbed this the best restaurant in the city and can’t wait to go back. The flavour combos, the service, the food presentation are all mind blowing. Will definitely be coming back soon!

I often say “that was good…for Ottawa” when we eat locally. Rarely do I find myself leaving the last part out. This was one of those times! Top quality ingredients, creativity and staff, Jabberwocky is a must try for locals AND those coming from great foodie towns. Second visit is already booked. We’ll ton Raz and team!!! B

Three visits, all superb. The servers are top notch. The food is excellent - an indulgence of complex flavours and textures in every course. As a vegan, being able to enjoy a minimum of three courses is not often possible at a restaurant that also serves meat. Tonight, I had three small plates to consider prior to my entree, and they have always had a dessert. Highly recommended.

Loved it with my partner on a reecent Friday evening - mains were decent portions of rich food, lots of variety on the plate. Partner enjoyed his smoky cocktail. Dessert - chili cake - was generous portion (super shareable) and not too rich. This is upstairs of course, so not accessible if stairs are an issue (that I'm aware of), but comfy sturdy seats with no arms (I did not check out the bar seating). It is a small space so not as loud w reverb and cutlery sounds as restaurants often get (music was a bit loud as we were seated nearest the speaker, but not too loud!). Would come back for sure!

My table ordered 3 different cocktails and they were all the same shade of brown... I also wasn't a fan of the plastic table cloths and there were some stains on it from the last people sitting there. The food was really tasty though, although a bit pricey for what it was. Servers were friendly.

Used to come here regularly, quite disappointed the prices have doubled in the past 3 years but somehow the quality has gotten worse. The charcuterie board was incredibly small for the price, the cocktails were acceptable but absolutely nothing special for $20, the wine was poor quality ($16 a glass for dregs!), and the short rib was way too sweet, way too little for the $54 price tag. Even at half the price, the quality, level of service, and overall experience was and is not worth it. Frankly, quite sad as this used to be a nice little gem but no more.

It used to be good, but we came back in October 2022 and 1) they are short of stuff 2)their prices are through the roof 3) you can see they are trying to cut expenses in food (e.g. half of their beef tartar dish was raw mushrooms, which just tasted bizzare). My advice is stick with simple inexpensive ingridients and change your menu instead of spoiling the existing dishes.

It was our first time dining there and was blown away with both the menu and the service. The venison was tender and juicy, portion size was perfect. The service was exemplary. A little pricey but totally worth it.

Interesting drinks but limited in food selection (4-5 snack items for $12). The small area echos quite a bit so you could only hear the people right next to you, but that being said, it has a nice casual atmosphere.

Service was atrocious and the food with underwhelming. The worst dining experience I have had in 10 years. Save your Money. McDonald’s would be more satisfying.

Food overall was good, but from a price to size and quality standpoint, it didn't really cut it. 40$+ for a main that was barely the size of an appetizer did not seem worth it. A couple of the appetizers - the salad and the mushroom toast - were very good.

I visited on a Friday night. The place wasn't too busy and my group was able to get a spot to sit at the bar. The bartenders are wonderful, and made some very good recommendations for drinks. They were able to customize some drinks to tailor to our liking. The bartender told us they change the menu weekly to offer new food ideas and wine pairings. The drinks were fantastic. I'd never had such a great daiquiri in my life. I'm used to seeing the blended daiquiris but I tried the Hemingway daiquiri and it was the best thing I had. The atmosphere was very sophisticated and professional, yet super welcoming and comfortable. I HIGHLY recommend this place. They also do more vegan friendly food compared to the other levels of Union. The staff were so friendly and easy to talk to. They knew exactly what they were doing and made it look like mixing cocktails was so easy! Watching them mix drinks was like something out of a movie. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

This was my first time visiting the Jabberwocky and 100% it will not be my last. If you're looking for a smaller, cozier joint to enjoy a few drinks and great food with friends, this is your place. Had a great time catching up with friends, the staff in no way made us feel rushed even after being there for 3+ hours. Great place, will be a regular spot for me.

One of the most unique cocktail lounges in Ottawa and they have amazing vegan food. Always playing good tunes and music videos or cartoons on the projector. Can’t get any better. Servers are so cool - we love Shannon!

Took the Rah-Rah-Rah drink. Came with a cookie and a huge ice cube. I would have preferred a but more liquor and the cookie on the side. It was an OK drink - not ah-mazing.. What was amazing though was the service and the ambiance! Would be back.

Jabberwocky is such a lovely bar. Their drinks are fantastic and so are the staff. I also love that everything is casually vegan, making it so easy for me to grab a tasty snack when I'm out for a drink.

I visited this bar last night in order to try the Unicorn Milk cocktail that has been mentioned in our local newspaper recently. I was very disappointed to learn that they had sold out of the cocktail earlier in the evening due to the rice water ingredient, which they only make so much of on each day. We tried other cocktails instead, which were quite good. I liked the atmosphere, which had lots of people, candles, and funky decor. I will be returning to try the Unicorn Milk!

Great space and fun environment, however, I don’t understand why their sister restaurant downstairs takes debit and credit but they are cash only, bit of an inconvenience. Also, you promote that you’re a vegetarian spot but have taxidermy animals on display?

As someone who is in search of incredibly tasty 100% plant based foods, this place is REALLY perfect. The best part is that, not only is the food incredibly unique and SOOOOOOO delicious, the staff is the best I've experienced in Ottawa. Do yourself a favour and go on Wednesday's (half price food from 5-7pm) and try their seitan burger because ... it's THE BEST. OH, and it's CASH ONLY (they have an ATM on site, and it costs only $1, and that dollar goes to a really good cause).

We were upsold a drink when ordering 10$ cider only to get billed for an $18 can of sour beer (without consent of the price). The service was OK, despite this. We were drawn to the bar for the vegan bites but spare yourself the extremely overpriced food... ordered 'chickpea tartare' which was essentially hummus with literal RITZ crackers. Very confused by this venue and feel very taken advantage of. This gets one star because the venue is well decorated. That's all. Literally left the bar having paid 40$ for one can of beer and hummus with Ritz crackers.

  • 4/5 David S. 4 years ago on Google
It's a vegan cocktail bar. And does both very well. Don't expect anything else.

  • 4/5 Gary L. 5 years ago on Google
A great place for imaginative cocktails, an impressive selection of beers and a respectful wine list. I’m somebody that usually shies away from vegetarian/vegan options/places but the creativity of the options on offer exceeded my expectations. Service was a bit slow (the place was pact and they were hosting a “Tap Takeover” event) but not too bad overall. Also the cash only policy seemed a bit strange since the other 2 venues in the building don’t share it but again nothing to stop me from coming back again and again.

  • 4/5 Marcus B. 5 years ago on Google
CASH ONLY! Awesome concept behind this place but there's a few hiccups in their first year of operations. Staff seemed very flustered when they were busy.
