One of most NEGATIVE & IGNORANCE experiences i had it recently in this place . sent to manager two complaints but received no answer , seems simply they don't care. Last time i checked in went to room arround 11 pm after long working day , i went toilet to be surprised they forgot to put SOAP, I called the front desk asking for soap to be surprised by her reply : i don't know , it's NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GO WALMART TO BUY YOU SOAP 🙄🙄. can you imagine this the reply from a person who supposed representing the place with customers 😏. After i expressed i need it urgently as i'm stucked in toilet . She told my i can give you one soap - although usually there's 2 soaps in the room - but you have to come to front disk to take it . I expressed that i'm stucked in room & need some one to bring it . To be surprised again from her replying : I'M NOT GOING TO LEAVE MY PLACE TO BRING YOU SOAP IF YOU WANT IT COME TO PICK IT UP 😏😏😏. At the end i couldn't go to her & felt really extreme APATHY & IGNORANCE toward clients . tried to call & email manager several times but seems they don't care 🙄 Reply update : as per manager reply i met her in office & she explained " staff felt uncomfortable & unsafe " which this ASSUMED MEETING in office NEVER HAPPENED same as the story for staff felt uncomfortable. ALL AS REPLY TO JUSTIFY negative attitude towards clients 👎👎👎 Reply update 2 : the manager reply was deleted after i Confirmed this ASSUMED MEETING never happened in her office Reply update 3 : manager reposted A reply now to Give the impression my review about " informed several times Not welcomed any more in their place " to COVER the main concern of NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR towards customers & ASSUMED MEETING i had with her . Great deals on clean suites at affordable rates. My gramps stayed before and after eye surgery and I found that it was well kept and the front desk lady was awesome. I really appreciate the existence of this place. It can be really challenging when you are ill and need to be away from home. This place makes it so much more affordable and convenient for loved ones to be near you, especially when you are not in your home town/city etc...

Convenient spot for hospital access, friendly staff, good pricing helps a lot.

Five stars isn’t enough for this place. It’s rare to find a place that every single one that you interact with goes out of their way to be kind, compassionate, and generous. Absolutely everyone that I dealt with from phoning in to make the reservation, to cancelling the first reservation and making a second, then checking in. - Everyone went out of their way, my wife uses a walker, and when I mentioned that during check-in, they gave me a choice of three rooms and offered me the key to go and see them so I could choose the best one for her. We ended up in a handicap accessible suite which suited us perfectly. Because the staff went the extra mile to make sure we were happy and comfortable. I must also mention the cleaning staff. Yes, it’s an older building, it’s not perfect. But it is exceptionally clean, the bedsheets are the brightest white I’ve seen. The bathrooms are dated but spotless. If you want new, modern and up-to-date, go somewhere else and pay twice or three times as much. But if you want a nice place, staffed by really nice people who keep it clean at a very modest price, this is it. Thanks again to everyone, each of you made our visit special in your own way. Being in or visiting a hospital be extremely stressful, however, the staff seems to appreciate that and does everything they can to make it as easy as possible for you. What more can you ask for? ?

Stayed at this Hotel when my husband was across being operated. Very convenient as this is very close to the hospital. The rooms are clean the staff is very helpful and nice. These rooms are basic but convenient for a stay while you have loved ones across the street. I recommend this Hotel. The manager Suzanne is very nice and very helpful.

Very fortunate to have this available for close access to the hospital. Inexpensive, clean and very helpful staff. A five minute drive (off peak hours) to grocery store and fast food places.

We booked this place only in order to be close to the hospital for a specific reason. The rooms were really dirty, there were spider webs everywhere, and I have seen other insects as well. Considering their price, I don't expect luxury but at least they can clean the rooms which should be the basic minimum at any place.

That’s not true.. we attempted to check out earlier than 4PM. And you charged us for 5 nights.. we booked 4, stayed 3 and you charged us for 5. Then couldn’t figure out how to refund us for the overcharge until today. Irregardless, the fact remains that the place is not worth $69. It feels dirty and dingy. Last year our lock on the door broke and nobody could figure out how to fix it and it took a full day to get someone in so that we could gather our belongings and move to another room. Let’s not kid ourselves. It’ll be our last stay. ADDITIONALLY, when I called back to sort this out, the employee on the phone was short with me and generally rude.. I can’t tell you how often we’ve waited in person and on the phone to allow for your staff to figure out mistakes in the past. Seems like you have dozens of people working there but nobody knows the job.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Room stunk horrible, sheets had stains and open used soap pack in shower and face cloth missing as the room had obviously not been cleaned. They gave us another room, which stunk also but in the interest of trying to get along we dealt with it. The place is not maintained well at all, the a/c cover was loose and vibrated on and off all night and kept waking us up. Room was meh, Drove almost 5 hours for an appointment to have almost no sleep, and have to drive back home having barely slept. They told us it was our fault for not complaining again and getting another room... basically to go F ourselves. They expected in the early hours of the morning for us to pack up all our stuff, unpack fridge into cooler again, get dressed again, go get new room keys, move, unpack again and to back to bed, how much sleep time woukd this have wasted? Because the room wasn't maintained or the first one cleaned properly. Made a stressful medical appointment much more stressful. Should have paid the 60 or 80$ out of pocket over the 100$ travel grant to stay at a real hotel where it is cleaned maintained and modern.

One of the cheapest motels around but it's definitely great. It's cozy, has free wi-fi, free cable with plenty of channels. The rooms are clean and at a great temperature. The staff that we dealt with were also pleasant and a delight to to deal with.

Great place to stay while your at cheo more then I expected when we were told we had a free room for the 5 days we were alloted not a 5 Stat hotel by any means but definitely still comfy and enjoyable :)

This place is great for being close to the hospitals. We have to come to CHEO and it is over 8 hrs of driving. This is am affordable place to sleep and rest. It is located to a lot of ammendities such as restaurants and shopping for any forgotten esstenials. There's free wifi and the staff is friendly. I've never had trouble in the 3 or 4 times we have stayed here.

We have been going to the Rotel for years. So close to CHEO for my daughter's appointments. Parking is cheaper. Plus they have done some amazing upgrades to the rooms. Also have a room with vending machines, small yard for small kids to play.

Been coming here for a while My daughter is back and forth to cheo we love being able to stay close and the customer service here is unlike any other place we have been to. So friendly very helpful wirh stuff like finding restaurants and very clean

The Rotel is an excellent option for clean, quiet and affordable room when you have loved ones needing extended medical care in Ottawa. The rate even includes parking! The staff are quite friendly. Rooms are basic and a bit dated, but for the price, it's a really good choice, close to many services, and most importantly, to hospitals (walking distance from TOH General campus and CHEO). What a great not-for-profit initiative! Thank you!

Great location as it's right in proximity to the Ottawa General Hospital where my husband has been staying with his surgery. It is a very old facility, clean rooms, but great affordable pricing, nice reception. Very appreciative for this. Thank you.

Two different children have been hospitalized after birth at CHEO, thanks to the low cost of the Rotel Motel I/we were able to stay in Ottawa (2hrs from home) to be with our children during the first scary days of their lives.

We stayed because of eye surgery. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. Our room had some impressive upgrades: new bathroom, mattresses, furnishings. There is a lovely little patio off the lounge, and a childrens' playground. They have an abundance of toys for the little ones in the lounge. There is a supply of mobility aids just outside the front door. If you look past the cosmetic defects, you will see a whole lot of love and caring

People are wonderful, very clean and comfortable! They could use some donations to help with some much updating needed, here & there, age and wear & tare are showing up in each room (I'm in My 3rd room, each one in need of some constructive repairs, nothing that made our stay uncomfortable or in danger, but noticed) Otherwise, I, We were very happy & comfortable with Our Month-long stay with the ROTEL FAMILY, Thanks for Everything♡

This hotel is a blessing to those needing a reasonably priced place to stay when bringing someone to CHEO. The room was spotless and the beds comfy. I came with a friend bringing her child to CHEO and there was lots of room for his wheelchair to get around. Well done!

The hotel was clean and quiet. Rooms were OK for the price. Staff were incredibly nice and made our stay pleasant. We were down for surgery at CHEO and being located right next door was very convenient for us to switch parents at their bedside.

This place is a great place to rest your head for the night if you are going to the Eye Institute or Children's Hospital in Ottawa..1 minute away from the hospital...all you have to do is prove you have an appointment and you can stay there for 49.00 a night...basic accommodations but comfortable...

This place was a serious blessing. I was able to spend precious time with a loved one. The hospital is across the street. The price per night was affordable on a stretched budget.

This place deserves a 1 star review in every single category. We stayed here for a month last year and luckily got out right before they jacked up the rates. The rooms are DISGUSTING, the staff are INCOMPETENT and RUDE. People stay here when they have loved ones staying at CHEO or the general.. the standard should be higher. We will happily pay more to stay elsewhere.

I stayed here on Thursday, Feb 8, 2024. The room was clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the price definitely was right!! Only thing I need to say is this: Unlike other hotels/motels (due to reducing costs FOR THE CLIENT), the coffee, and microwave are located in a lounge, not in the individual rooms. As well, you may benefit by bringing your own soap/shampoo, plastic cutlery/cups, if needed. The motel room does have a mini freezer/fridge, however. And the best part is it is located very close to the hospitals. Perfect for families who have the need. I highly recommend this establishment.
