The Morgentaler Clinic

Abortion clinic

👍👍 I give this place 5 stars because the staff was amazing. I was extremely nervous for the procedure and obviously feeling lots of guilt and sadness. I didn’t have to worry about psychotic protesters. I think there was only one and he wasn’t allowed to sit within a certain amount of space from the bui... Thank you to all the staff! ❤️ I went in yesterday for medical management of a silent miscarriage and I received excellent care. My situation was not their usual type as I was not in need of an abortion (the fetal heartbeat had stopped but my body did not expel naturally) but they made me feel very comfortable. They did all the tests necessary and provided the medication. It took about 2h in total and I have a follow up appointment in a month.

The staff was extremely professional and so so friendly. They made me feel well and as good as I could given the situation. I was very impressed with I believe it was Annie. She was one of the nurses that was with me the whole time during the procedure. I’m upset I don’t remember her name but she made it 100 times better for me! The place was very nice and clean. It went by really quickly there was no huge wait which was great. The whole thing took about 2 hours. The staff is very thorough with not just the procedure but also at answering ur questions and anything you might need. Definitely recommend!!

I give this place 5 stars because the staff was amazing. I was extremely nervous for the procedure and obviously feeling lots of guilt and sadness. I didn’t have to worry about psychotic protesters. I think there was only one and he wasn’t allowed to sit within a certain amount of space from the building. The man at the front desk was very nice and gave me the forms to fill and info to read. I was called in to see a counseler who let me cry and talk about how I was feeling about my decision. She gave me Ativan and pain medication as I am a very anxious person and needed the extra help. She brought me through to a waiting room where I waited to do an ultrasound. They let me see but they do give you the choice not too if you’re uncomfortable doing so. Even the ultrasound technician asked me if I was okay and reassured me I was in good hands. I went back to the waiting room and got called by a nurse who brought me to the little OR. She held my hand the entire time and brushed my hair out of my face as the procedure does not feel good. She gave me the laughing gas mask to try and ease my mind more as I was starting to panic a lot. The doctor was quick and efficient. She told me I did an excellent job and to just relax there for a moment so I could catch my breath. Another nurse wiped my forehead with a cloth. The first nurse walked me to the room where the girls go after the procedure and made sure I had snacks, a drink, a heating pad and a warm blanket. I was checked up on and talked to by a nurse until I was comfortable enough to leave. She walked me through aftercare and I left feeling so relieved. While I am quite emotional now, I do feel okay and I owe a lot of it to the support of the staff at this clinic. Thanks so much.

I had to call 14 times to finally be answered to schedule my appointment. I obviously am a little stressed because I need an abortion and I made it clear on the voicemail that’s the case. They said I was being rude just because I wanted someone to answer their phone. Hopefully they don’t cancel my abortion. :) I’m concerned because they passive aggressively said “see you on Tuesday” With no closure. One lady who works at the clinic was very nice. Update: I went recently for my appointment to get the abortion and am much more comfortable afterwards. They gave me attentive care and ensured I was aware of the procedure in full. Thank you :)

Went in for a standard surgical procedure, the staff was extremely cold and uncaring with the exception of one absolutely lovely nurse. Once into the room, they basically just grabbed my arm to inject me and despite pain medication (that did not work at all) it was EXCRUCIATINGLY painful, I was told to be quiet after screaming. The dr preforming the surgery did not care and was extremely cold and rude and did not explain anything that was going on. Not sure if this is standard or if they were having a bad day but I just felt like meat being carved up. PLEASE go to riverside hospital for your surgical procedures ladies and save yourself the pain.

I absolutely want you to read this review (and the good ones) and NOT pay attention to the bad reviews. PLEASE. I am writing this review through my friend's account as I didn't want to disclose my name for this abortion. Anyways: from the first phone call they were SO NICE. The girl on the phone was the best, and she made me feel confortable right away. Once you get there you don't wait too long then you meet someone to enter all your info (health card etc). Then you wait a bit and go see a councilor. You can have your partner there with you or not (when you talk to the councilor). She is very friendly and will just ask you a few questions, and if you are scared/ashamed she will make you feel better. I personally was oK with my decision so my meeting with her was fairly quick, but they will take the time you need if you're stressed etc.... She will ask you if you want ibuprofen (for pain initially) and anxiety medication. I wasn't nervous so I only took the ibuprofen. Then you go to change (you bring a long tshirt or a sleeping robe). You go for an ultra sound (nurses are very nice), and then once that's done you go wait in another room for 5-10 minutes then they bring you in for the abortion. OK so here's where I'm going to drop some truth on you, as I feel like a few of the other reviews weren't accurate. THE FENTANYL they give you for the pain WILL HELP, and you won't necessarily puke after. Actually, I was with 5 girls after in the recovery room and not 1 of us puked. I'd personally say take it!! But NO it will not make the procedure not painful at all, but it does help so much. I also asked them from the get go to get the laughing gas. You keep it in your hands so you decide when you want to use it. It helped me calm down because there were about 3 instances during the procedure where it was painful. So yes expect pain, but it lasts about 5 seconds every time, so you can use the laughing gas to calm you down. And the procedure (although they say 5-10 minutes) legit felt like it was 2 minutes, 3 tops. The doctor is extremely nice and talks to you the whole time (ok we're almost done hang in there etc). Once that's done you may feel a bit dizzy but that's pretty much it. They keep you in a recovery room for 20-30 minutes (more if you're not doing so good), there's water, crackers, ginger ale, and a nurse there to check on you and talk about the recovery. Personally I felt so much better after because I had the worst sickness during my first weeks of pregnancy, so the recovery was 10x better than what I had been going through. You should expect cramps and bleeding the first week after. My cramps were actually worst on day 4-5-6 after the abortion. You will have to go back for a check up 2 to 4 weeks after. All in all this place is great, you will NEVER feel judged. You will be there for 2-3 hours total. Feels like it goes by fast though. Good luck!

I have never written a review on anything before now. I went for my procedure and was very nervous. I knew it had to be done but nonetheless. I felt very at ease once I spoke to a councilor, and she gave me some medication to ease my anxiety. She explained everything to me in detail an assured me I was in very good hands. I than went to change into my gown and waited for my ultrasound. The first nurse I met was amazingly sweet and kind and didn't make me feel ashamed or embarrassed. I felt very comfortable. I than waited about 10 mins after my ultrasound and went to get the procedure done. I met another 2 nurse's in the operating room along with the doctor. Again, I felt very relieved to have such warm people around me. They do offer fentanyl for pain relief, but I declined and just took some of the laughing gas. The fentanyl will make you sick, so I definitely wanted to avoid that. The procedure itself was bearable but somewhat painful. It felt a lot better when the nurse pushed on my lower tummy. I felt 3 big waves of pain and than it was over. I went to recovery and a nurse took care of me there. Every person there was just fantastic! Very knowledgeable and professional. I went here so I didn't have to wait a month and a half to go to Riverside hospital. I hope my review does help some people with their concerns about this place. You are in very good hands and they really know what they are doing. My only advice is that if you can handle the short pain for 3 mins do it! The fetanyal will make you sick, as most women I seen in recovery were vomiting because of it. Just take the laughing gas and it's over in no time. I hope this helps! Good luck ladies! 💝

Highly recommend! I Went to the clinic for a medical abortion, the procedure is easy and quick, the doctor told me when to take the pill and what will happens after, thanks God after 1 week the follow up appointment shows that everything was great and I am good to go!! The clinic have after care number so if you have any concerns it’s easy to reach out. It was my FIRST abortion and I’m glad I went to this clinic, the atmosphere is not cold at all as I thought before, all staff are kind makes me felt better as it was definitely a bad experience since I found out I was pregnant. Thank you!

If you’re feeling scared about your choice, I hope this helps you. My experience was as great as it could be given the circumstances... the nurses, doctor and councillor were all amazing. They started me off by getting me to fill out paperwork, not too long after that I spoke to a councillor. She was the best.. put my mind completely at ease. She gave me some medication for my anxiety along with ibuprofen for the pain and then took me to get my procedure done. Once in the back area, they got me to change into my gown and took me in for an ultrasound.. and before I knew it I was in for my procedure. The nurses were great, they were so nice and did every thing they could to make you feel at ease. They even stood by your side the whole time and talked to you. They give you some fentanyl for the pain and some local freezing. They also let you know they can give you some laughing gas if you feel uncomfortable. I won’t lie, an abortion is painful.. but by the time I was about to give in and go for the laughing gas, it was over. It is a super quick procedure and once it’s over you feel so much relief. Plus, In recovery they give you tea and crackers.. along with a blanket and heating pad. One of the nurses goes over the after care with you and makes sure you aren’t bleeding too much and once they feel you’re ready they let you leave. I would 100% recommend someone here if they were looking into abortion. It wasn’t an easy choice and took a toll on me emerionally but this place made everything better for me. Good luck ladies and keep your heads up. ❤️

I would have given the clinic 5 stars if it wasnt for the unprofessional man sitting at the front desk. He was extremely rude and made me feel very uncomfortable. Shame on you for making women, who are in their most vulnerable state feel uncomfortable. You are the first interaction woman have of the clinic, and you should not have the job you have. The clinic needs to seriously re-evaluate who they have working at the front desk. The doctor and nurses were amazing!!

No one will answer the phones at this place for 3 weeks. Still haven’t gotten ahold of anyone here to this day. I have no other options and this place can’t answer a damn phone. I’ve left multiple voicemails leaving contact information to get ahold of me and nothing.

I've seen some negative comments under here before I went to the clinic and I must say those comments are ridiculous... I can't find one fault about this clinic or their staff my visit was wonderful ( for my first time) the doctors were nice and explained everything clearly the nurses we're the BOMB!!! They don't judge or make you feel uncomfortable... Their very professional, neat and very clean... Security is strictly enforced also... The procedure lasted about 10minutes... If any need my views or want me to speak more feel free to shoot me a message but this place Is great

Felt like a factory. Not only was the abortion not fully completed properly (still had stuff left inside) but the IUD they inserted was wrong caused an insane amount of bleeding about a month after. The medication they have me for pain did not work. I felt everything. I am absoulutly traumitized from this experience. The doctor at the hospital told me he sees a lot of similar things come out of this clinic. Also while I was in the back waiting and having the abortion the person I had with me heard the bouncer dudes at the reception desk laughing at these reviews. They don't care about you. They didn't care about me. It was incredibly painful and now I can't have a speculum inserted so though having a panic attack and I am not prone to them in the slightest. 10/10 would not recommend. Please find somewhere else to do this procidure. Please!

The staff here are amazing and so supportive. I was already 100% on my choice to have this abortion but I was feeling heavy anxiety as it was my first abortion. The councillor put me at ease and talked to me for an hour and a half. She did everything she could to make sure I was mentally prepared for this. She even checked up on me after the procedure. The nursing staff were so sweet and they made sure I knew what was going on the whole time. They were very soft spoken and non judgemental. The procedure itself was very uncomfortable for me personally but the nurse held my hand the whole time and kept trying to comfort me. She would tell me I'm doing well and it's almost over she would tell me to take deep breaths and she offered me more meds to ensure maximum comfort. I wouldn't have been able to stand it without her comfort. Afterwards I was assisted in walking to the recovery area where they gave me a heat pad and covered me with a blanket and offered me snacks and water. The nurses continued to talk to me and make sure I was doing okay. They made sure I was 100% ready and not bleeding too much before they allowed me to leave. They were also very thorough with aftercare instructions and they gave me everything I needed to know on paper so I have no worries. Honestly an abortion is difficult and painful both physically and mentally to go through but the staff there did everything they could to make it comfortable and it was very much appreciated.

My cousin had the worst experience with a doctor I believe is MISTER kaniski (something along those lines) and he was a complete disaster. Telling her she isn’t allowed medications, she needs to shut up lie down and relax as it is not that "deep" and it takes 2 seconds. How can a man be allowed in these establishments and make women feel less than ? Terrifying. I can’t imagine

It is very hard to write this review as Henry Morgantaller was a hero. But if you end up needing a service like this DO not use Toronto. My daughter was kicked out for crying (due to fright of procedure) That's just the tip of the ice berg really without writing a novel. There are other places for such a emotional procedure. We just experienced how different being forced somewhere else. Big hugs ladies

Don't ever feel ashamed to come here. The staff, nurses and doctor were all very professional and did an incredible job. There was never a moment during my appointment where I felt I was being judged. It was all very quick and I was in and out within 2.5 hours. Overall, a great experience. Finding parking was probably the worst part.

I had the most traumatizing experience at this clinic. The medication they gave for pain did nothing, I felt everything being ripped out of me while this 8 months pregnant nurse pinned me to the table screaming at me not to move. It was horrible, excruciatingly painful and traumatizing. I'm still traumatized after 7months.. I do not recommend this clinic to anyone.

My heart feels a tremondous relief knowing this clinic exists. I can't begin to explain how professional and warm the staff is. My procedure was fast (it hurt of course for 3 minutes) and I was well taken care of by everyone along the way. I'm very impressed and wish there were more clinics like this in each big city to help the ladies out in such hopeless situations. I Feel very lucky to have been able to have a clinic like this available to me when in need.

During my appointment today, most of the staff were friendly and efficient. However when I got into the operating room, the nurses were very cold and did not treat me with any sympathy. My bedside nurse was terrible at inserting the IV which cause a lot of pain. I understandably was under a lot of stress and anxiety, but received no compassion from these nurses who ignored my tears and joked around with each other instead.

Very professional and empathic staff. Nurses were very supportive and kind. Booked an appointment 2 days after I contacted them. Lots of resources and information. Actual full procedure was 2 hours including paperwork, ultrasound and preliminary exam. Information provided on the website is highly accurate to the actual process. I am so grateful for the supportive and professional services the Morgentaler Clinic provides. I am proud that the Canadian healthcare system makes this process a supportive and efficient (doesn't stall the process to hinder women's access and rights to reproductive choices). Note: Making appointments: You may not be able to talk to someone on the phone initially because they are busy, just leave a message and they respond very quickly.

I went there to terminate 4/5 weeks pregnancy for personal reasons, I wanted to take abortion pills but the counsellor suggested surgery abortion is much better and she also said the procedure is very safe and it won't cause any infertility problem, she convinced me and it was a huge mistake, after a month I went back there for a check-up they told me a piece remained and I have to do D&C , after a month again I went back for a check-up again they told me a piece remained this time I did not agree with the D&C over there as I had a plan to get pregnant again and I couldn't trust the doctors there, when the doctor found I am not doing D&C for the 2nd time there, gave me pills to pass that tissue, I went to my gynecologist and he said those pills are useless and he performed full sleep surgery at the hospital to remove that big piece, my husband & I experienced a very high level of anxiety, stress & tears, it was my first pregnancy and abortion, I had personal issues and wanted to terminate the pregnancy and my plan was to get pregnant in couple of months after this termination but it turned out very pity, still I am stressed out as I have to get my period to see if Asherman syndrome happened or not after 3 procedures, the amount of stress & anxiety is unbelievable for my husband & I, I am not recommending this clinic at all neither doctors nor counsellors, and do not believe abortion procedure is safe, it is not 😔 I have to add their staff are very rude when it comes to complaint ,when I asked about my medical record, the director over there acted so aggressive and rude because she was terrified, please go somewhere with reliable staff Ind doctors if you really need to do abortion

My girlfriend went in for a procedure and she had an awful experience, and as this is a professional medical establishment I expected much more compassion and comfort than she received during this incredibly sensitive time for the both of us. As other reviews have detailed some of her experience I myself wont go into detail, but advise anyone to go to a hospital if possible instead of here. Some last words for the doctor, I myself are very surprised you have chosen this for your profession.

I’m not a city fan so driving was hectic but I found parking on queen street and had to walk 3 minutes.

This place used to be a wonderful and welcoming environment that cared for their patients. I think they are under new ownership, and it seems they are turning this into an "abortion mill" and are only concerned with $$. This is a step back for women's health, and would have Henry Morgentaler turning in his grave. Go to the Riverside hospital for care instead.
