I could not recommend this location more! We are new to this shared dating style, so we wanted to start with the best! The service was too notch & extremely quick. Our server was especially attentive knowing that we were a little unsure of how the process works. The beef, chicken, pork, ALL of it, coming out extremely fresh & quickly. To top it off, we felt very safe with the COVID protocols & barriers they had in place, even after most regulations had dropped. I will certainly be recommending to anyone looking to visit Ottawa! 5 Stars! ✨

We had a fantastic experience getting dinner here. Our waitress Mia was very attentive and welcoming, she anticipated all of our needs and made our first experience seamless. The quality of the meat was top notch and all the various side dishes were equally delicious. I highly recommend the table side dry spice as the cumin really enhanced the flavor of the meats. Make sure to join the live wait-list on Yelp as they do not take reservations for less than 6 and it is very busy for dinner.

First time at this location. Food was very good... on par with the Japanese Grills in Toronto. Service from our waitress was outstanding... very attentive without being intrusive. As a lot of people mentioned, put yourself on the waiting list as the wait is pretty long to get in.... we went on a Monday, put ourselves on the waiting list and was seated about an hour after. A group of friends and I went out for a buddies birthday and had an excellent experience here! The meat was exceptional, the service was impeccable. Our server Mia was always on top of replacing the grill once it had become accumulated too much charcoal remains. She kept our drinks full at all times, and always gave us service with a smile.

Service was very good and food was high-quality considering it is a buffet style dinner. Set price dinner with menu options to order on demand. Good gluten-free options and understanding staff. You do feel a bit rushed considering we were only allowed to sit for an hour and a half. Wait staff was very attentive, wasn’t looking around for employees when prepared to order more food. Hands down this place is our favourite place for dinner! Even my 2-year-old daughter loves here so much. No wonder why we visit them almost weekly. Food is excellent, service is always exceptional. If you are a meat lover/keto dieter, you are going to love this place. Great selection of the variety of meats and cuts for dinner option (you can choose dinner option during lunch as well for only $10 CAD/$7 USD extra) Service is 10/10, our waitress is very attentive, ordered food we liked and changed burnt grill as often as needed despite the restaurant being really busy. Our absolute fav is the Black Pepper Kalbi, although pretty much every meat and seafood items we tried on the menu are fantastic! See my photos for reference. Recommend you to try everything on first order and then just get what you like second round and on. Desert items include a delicious crème brûlée and Melona ice cream. I have ate at a lot of AYCE bbq places in the US and Canada and Gyubee is definitely on the top 3 list! Not to mention the price is more than reasonable for both lunch and dinner. Highly recommended! The place has been recommended by numerous friends and I finally went to try it and I was not disappointed. Everything was delicious but most of all the service was quick and prompt. I have to give a shout out to the waitress that had our table "Sherry". If her boss sees this review, she deserves a raise and more. She made the experience that much better. We will definitely be visiting again.

Delicious quality meat. Clean, well organized and very attentive service. Grills were constantly changed by staffs without request. Condiments are light soy sauce and ground chili powder, good to go with everything. Good values price matches quality and service.

Pork Belly Miso Yaki Everyone! This is $14+tax take out meal! It comes with very small quantity of rice and 12 prices of pork belly. No worth to buy!!! Update: Since i received the refund, i am going to change the review to 4 stars JUST for good service and taste. The manager said there is 180g of meat and 330g of rice. I believe everyone have a better idea of bento now.

Great choice! Do make reservation if you are a group of 6 or more. Our reservation was at 1.30 but people were waiting for their call. I’d say good quality/price ratio. Service is fantastic by the way, the waitress came by asking about drink refill and adding dishes etc… kudos for Natasha!

If you’re looking to come to a pricey Japanese restaurant ran by a majority of non-Japanese staff than you came to the right place. If you’re able to pass the 40minute wait, the moment you enter you get a very mediocre greeting. Once seated the very unenthusiastic waiter/waitress will come to get your first order, make sure you order a lot because they will forget about you for the next 30 minutes. The price is on the higher end, but it can be justified by the quality of the meat, however, what can’t be justified is the flavouring of the meat. The fire is gas base, and so the char on the meat you get is just residue of previously burnt meat. The meat isn’t seasoned with the exception of the sauced meat. You’re paying approximately ~$40 to cook and season your meat. It is all you can eat, the veggies are delicious and fresh, they provide kimchi/Korean flavouring, they have alcoholic/none alcoholic drinks and there deserts are very good (However, it’s not made in house and limited)

Went here for lunch and I thought it was amazing. From the service to the food it was a great experience. For lunch it’s a little expensive but it’s all you can eat and they replenish your table quickly. It’s my first time trying a restaurant like this and I feel like they set the bar high. A must try in the market! Looking forward to going back.

What can I say about Gyubee! OMG! The food was excellent! The service was A1! The quantity of food my friends and I ate was infinite and yet they were coming to see if we were pleased! I don’t live in Ottawa so that’s why I am not at Gyubee every week otherwise I would be part of the restaurant! 😂 can’t wait to go back to enjoy all the succulent meats! 🙌🏾👌🏾

Just had dinner at Gyubee today and our waiter, Doven, was just the best. Every time we wanted to order, he would be there right away, he was so polite and just did an incredible job! We were celebrating a birthday and it was getting close to closing but Doven still provided the upmost service. Couldn't have asked for a better waiter and would definitely come back again :)

Went here for dinner with a group of friends and it was splendid. Service was amazing as was the food. Was so busy grilling and eating that I barely had time to take any pictures! Our table definitely liked the shrimp and the kalbi beef the best. I thought the salmon was tasty as well. Amazing overall experience and would for sure recommend coming here.

Went for dinner last weekend. Everything there were just fresh and tasty. I was not very familiar with different items on the menu. The server Eric helped all the way through the ordering with great patience. For the second round, he recommended several items we didn't order at the first time and they all tasted delicious. Went there for dinner last night and everything was splendid. Even though when we arrived at the restaurant, it looked busy already, but the waiting time was surprisingly really quick. We were kind of "hangry" (hungry and angry lol), but our food came out so quick. All the staffs were wearing masks. Our first server, Justin, was very polite, nice and very cute :). Our main server later on was Jackson and he was the coolest and most efficient server I have ever had. He was super nice, and he always came to check on us. He kept on telling us to take our time to eat and if we wanted to order more (we were very busy eating in such a fast pace lol). (…) The food is definitely good, but, the price you have to pay for that… We were 4 people(2 adults, 2 kids) and the total was 240$, including beer(18$) and a refillable ice tea drink. The service was good and the waitress was nice. Beware! For the long waiting time.(I waited for 1h30) And that is because of just how much the restaurant is popular. Groups of less than 6 people can not reserve their seat in advance. Overall, you should try it.

The place is perfect if you are an authentic meat lover and have great appetite. However, there are little other options apart from various meats items. Unique experience! -The not good: extremely busy and loud. You have to book your table way in advance or else you ll be waiting for hours hoping to get in! The prices are high but it is an all you can eat restaurant, so better be hungry when you go there. You are also only given a set amount of time for your booking, so better hurry…it ended up being enough for the two of us to finish in time but if you are planning to hangout with a big group of ppl and catch up then it’s gonna feel rushed. Overall, I loved the experience. But it’s definitively more of an activity feel than a sit down and relax place.

Visited Gyubee with my family on New Year’s Eve for dinner. The prices were very good, especially for an all you can eat. Our server was very attentive and pleasant and kept the food coming. Dinner service lasted 2 hours and it was nonstop dishes to the end. Being able to cook your own meal was very interesting, and easy, even my older kid (8) got in on the action. The meats tasted really fresh and was great quality. There’s tons of options, from tofu, to seafood, pork, chicken and beef.

Everything is delicious and really justifies the price point! Even on a Monday night, it was very busy and there was a wait. We joined the Yelp waitlist but it does not really do anything because once you get there, you will still have to wait in order of first come first serve. I’d recommend coming in a party of 6+ to reserve a table because I can’t imagine how long the wait would be on the weekend. Anyways, all the food was super delicious. There wasn’t anything that I didn’t enjoy so not much to say on that. We got a few of the virgin cocktails which were super delicious and I recommend. Sake was also very high quality. Our server was very attentive and always around to take more orders, clear the table or change the grill. Definitely a must visit if in Ottawa!

We came to this restaurant for the first time today. We reserved a table for six people. We are five adults and one child. The dining time is limited to two hours and there is only one stove. I don’t think there is enough stove to use. The food is not bad. The service Also very good, will come again

When someone first described Gyubee to me I was a little skeptical, it sounded identical to Korean BBQ which is nice but isn't anything new! After giving it a go I see why it's hot right now! The cuts of meat is a lot thicker in Gyubee so expect chunks of delicious prime rib or whole pieces of seasoned wings when you order. The service is lightning fast, I probably say this a lot but the time from ordering to getting your food is literally 5 mins or less, I was floored. The only thing that you'll notice is that it's a little bit pricier than Korean BBQ, but given that you're getting a lot more meat with Gyubee, it makes sense to be a paying little more. In the end, it's a great place for a night out with friends or a date night!

Great experience. We came here shortly after a trip to Japan since we missed the food. We signed up on the waitlist early - make sure you check-in once you get there and best to wait close by or in the restaurant. We lucked out and were seated earlier than expected. Service was lovely, our waiter was helpful and attentive. The selection is great and quality is quite good, we felt like we got our money's worth even worth the weekend price. It definitely satisfied our itch for yakiniku!

Came with some family for my birthday. I’ve been to the Mississauga location before (where the service was great) but the service we received from Dian at the Byward location was exceptional!! She was quick and efficient and very very patient, kind, and accommodating to our group. Would highly recommend this restaurant for one of those “treat yo self!” types of meals! Feels like an authentic Japanese place, and the service is top notch from my experience there. It is a grill it yourself style place, but you can easily make yourself full in the first hour of the two you are allotted. The servers are amazing, and the food is top quality no matter what you order and comes out quick as long as they aren't too swamped. My only gripe was the lack of anything beyond soy sauce (though it's a light version perfect for the foods you are eating) and chili powder spice mix. Beyond that, the meats and everything I ate was of amazing quality. I will be coming again.

Came here during Halloween! The food was so good. I got the pear sake and it was phenomenal. The crême brûlée is also great. Definitely coming here again on my next trip. Everything was clean, the staff was super helpful. There's a good reason this is the highest rated-reviewed restaurant in the area.

This may be the best barbecue place in Ottawa! Great food and even better service. Anthony was awesome and tended to our every need and was happy to help us out. The salmon was very tasty as well as the fried rice with an over easy egg on top. This spot did not disappoint! We moved to Ottawa this year and we were looking forward to find a great Korean or Japanese BBQ restaurant. We chose the dinner menu and although it's a bit pricey, the quality of the meat and seafood is well worth its price. The kalbi boneless shortrib, mussels and cold tofu were my favorite. Mojito was good (drinks are cheap!) Our waiter Bill was fantastic! Looking forward to return in the near future.
