    I went to the store today Friday, December 29, 2023 @ 3:28 PM and to my shock the manager verbally harassed me in public by saying "GET OUT" just cause I decided to defend a customer that she was harrsing. She also said you are not a customer. She should be educated that any individual that steps inside the store is a potential customer. She did not want to give me her name as she knows she is in the wrong and does not want to get prosecuted. She is very fortunate that I did not press charges against her. The store should be in capable hands. UPDATE: I sent them an email no one contacted. Looks like this brand reflects their poor attitude. Funny to also see all the fake reviews. STAY AWAY!

    I am writing to complain about the poor service and product quality I received from your store on December 28, 2023. I bought two nose rings for $105 from a sales associate named Cathie, who pressured me into buying them even though I was not sure if they would fit me. She assured me that they were septum nose rings and that they would fit any nose size. However, when I tried to wear them at home, I realized that they were too big and I could not even insert them into my nose. I was very disappointed and frustrated with the product. I called your store and spoke to someone who told me to come back the next day and that the manager would do something about it. The next day, I went to your store with my brother and asked to speak to the manager. The manager was very rude and unprofessional. She refused to listen to my complaint or offer me any solution. She accused me of lying and trying to scam her. She also yelled at my brother and told him to get out of the store. She threatened to call the police if we did not leave immediately. She treated us with disrespect and hostility. I am very unhappy and dissatisfied with the way I was treated by your staff and the quality of your product. I have the receipt and the photo of the nose rings as proof of my purchase and the defect. I am attaching them to this message. I request that you take this matter seriously and provide me with a full refund or an exchange of the product. I also expect an apology from the manager and the sales associate for their behavior. I hope to hear from you soon with a positive response. UPDATE: I sent them an email but no one contacted further into this matter seems to me that this place sells very low quality and fake jewelry that the owner cannot back up. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE THERE ARE BETTER PLACE TO SPEND MONEY ON PROPER JEWELLERY.

    I have been a client at Magpie for many years and have purchased many pieces from them, as well as referred my friends and family to shop at this store. Previously, I have always had positive experiences shopping here, however, today's experience left a poor taste in my mouth. I brought my sister in store to choose a new necklace to celebrate a special occasion and with the help of a lovely sales associate we found the perfect piece and was ready to check out. However, as we were checking out, the price tag on the necklace went missing and that is when the issues arose. A lady who identified herself as the store manager came to see what the issue was, and initially told us that the price of the necklace was $195. When we told her that we remembered the price being around $120-125, she said that was not possible, and that she knew that this designer's products were never priced that low. She checked the website and saw that it was listed at $163, and when we suggested the price may have been tagged incorrectly as that was not the number we remembered, she said that there was no way it could have been listed at that price and that we were mistaken and probably mixed it up with a different necklace. She told us that she spoke with the operations manager to try and lower the price to $120 since it was "just jewelry and not life threatening" and that she was told it was not even possible. While she may not have meant it that way, the manager came off very smug and condescending. We would have purchased the necklace even at $163 but due to the way we were treated we decided not to move forward with the purchase. We went to the Westboro location right after and not only did they end up having the exact same piece, it was for the price we remembered and the one that the Rideau location manager said was not possible - $125 (see photo below). I do appreciate the other sales associate being very kind and helpful (which is why this is not a 1 star review), but I will not be recommending or returning to this location to shop again.

    I feel so unbelievable lucky to have wroked with Cathi and the team at this store. With their help we were able to design the perfect engagement ring and I couldn't be more grateful! They were so accommodating and helpful for an absolute rookie. They answered every silly question and helped move things along I've already started telling all my friends to come here when they feel it's time to propose.

    I’ve had many friend purchase jewelry from Magpie and heard great things. I went in last night for the first time to look at engagement rings. There was a sales associate behind the counter when we walked in, did not greet us, which is fine until we asked her for help and could tell she was almost annoyed to be engaged. I let her know it was our first time shopping for rings and asked to try one on. When I did, I touched the stone and was told in a condescending tone « you should never touch the stone ». Which I completely understand - just didn’t know! That’s why I said it’s our first time, more than happy to be told proper etiquette but in a polite way would have been nice. We then ask questions about it openly saying we don’t know much about the 4Cs. So we when ask, she says quickly « V1 and G » we say ok what does that mean? Is G the colour? To which she responded « A,B,C,D,E,F,G » as if we were stupid to not know it was the alphabet. So rude and unprofessional! We said yes we know but what does it MEAN with regards to the ring, is it white? Is it yellow? It was the same thing with V1. We asked if that meant less clear and with the same condescending tone she replied « No. That’s most clear. » Seemed like she was annoyed we didn’t know more about rings I guess. It’s too bad because that was definitely the ring we liked the most and we’re completely put off simply by that experience. There was no reason to be treated or spoken to that way. Customer experience can absolutely have an impact on purchase. Engagement ring shopping is expected to be a warm and happy time to shop for that it’s really unfortunate that wasn’t the case at Magpie. I personally wanted a style that was not in store and after looking online I saw that some customizing is available. This was not mentioned to us in store. Nothing more was given to us in terms of additional information to take home, suggestions, business card or anything like that which is exactly what we got from every other jeweller in the mall. To that sales associate was with the red hair, please be kinder to your shoppers.

    My friend and I visited Magpie Jewelry Store Last evening for our first engagement ring shopping experience, but our excitement quickly turned to disappointment. The lady at the counter seemed uninterested and unwilling to help, answering our questions rudely and condescendingly. This lackluster interaction contrasted sharply with the warm and helpful service we received at other jewelry stores. Engagement ring shopping is a significant occasion, and it's crucial for customers to feel supported and valued. Unfortunately, Magpie Jewelry Store fell short in this regard. The unenthusiastic attitude and condescending behavior we encountered left a lasting negative impression. We believe that improving customer service and fostering a welcoming environment should be a priority for the store's management.

    Such an amazing work, I have been going to different places to resize my ring, and they keep telling me they have to cut it. And they will charge me over $100, but at this location they actually kept it one price they used a proper method, and it was really cheap. They where supper nice and respectful at the shop, 5 stars delivered 👍👌.

    I am not someone who wears jewelry beyond my wedding band, and my shopping experience here was friendly, professional and very much catered to making sure my purchase was exactly what I wanted. And, I had so much fun interacting with the very knowledgeable staff! Highly recommend!

    I had an incredible experience at this store. Cathi, the store manager, was very helpful with choosing the right gift for my wife. On top of that, her and the team reacted quickly and efficiently when there was a defect. They replaced the item and were supportive along the way. By far the best customer experience I have had in years!

    I started going to Magpie over 30 years ago and have accumulated many pieces over the years that are timeless. The service I have received from Martin and his staff has always been very pleasant and without exception helpful. Recently, Martin helped me sort through and assess some jewellery that was passed down to me and I am so grateful for the time he took to offer both his expertise and honest opinions/findings. This was so incredibly reassuring to me to have someone looking out for my interests. I highly recommend visiting Magpie if you are looking for a unique piece of jewellery and appreciate quality products and service.     My now fiancé went to the Rideau Centre location to find the most perfect ring. Kathy was absolutely fantastic and incredibly helpful. She was able to get my ring sized in under a week! Super professional and kind sales representatives, and they truly seemed genuinely interested in our moment and making it perfect. We got an engagement ring and band from the whimsical and enchanting Megan Thorne collection. I Will absolutely be going to magpie for all my future jewelry purchases! Thank you so much!     I cannot express how pleased I was with the service I was provided at Magpie Jewellery! After desperately searching for a specific Pyrrha piece to give as a 50th birthday gift, Cathi worked with me to make it happen from a town 4 hours away and in a time crunch. She went out of her way to bring the piece I wanted into the Rideau location so that my son could pick it up while he was visiting Ottawa on a school trip. All the stars aligned thanks to Cathi! I definitely plan to shop their online store now knowing the customer service and professionalism of the group at Magpie. My 15 year old son even commented to me about how many nice things he saw during his time in the store and how good the staff were to work with. If you know teenage boys at all, that is saying something.

    I absolutely love coming here whenever I visit the mall. The staff is always super helpful and the selection of local artistry is incredible. Kale the assistant manager is amazing, their knowledge surrounding jewelry is vast and they were super helpful and pleasant. Magpie also cleaned and fixed a necklace for me that I didn't purchase there for almost nothing at all. Love this place!

    First time writing a google review but I've got a great story to tell! Meghan at Magpie Rideau helped us turn an estate engagement ring which was already wonderful into something perfectly unique and knock your socks off with the addition of a salt and pepper diamond. We had gone to several jewelers in Ottawa to see what they could do about my engagement ring and Meghan was the only one (out of several well-known stores) with the vision, passion and creativity to suggest the alteration which we ultimately went with. We've known others with engagement rings from Magpie. I'd recommend them all the way, they really have some unique stuff and passionate and knowledgeable staff.

    I had an amazing experience today at Magpie Jewellery. Cassandra instantly greeted me upon entering the store, and helped me pick out the perfect gift for my husband. She was attentive and friendly, but not pushy. This was my first visit to this particular location, but it most definitely will not be my last. Not to mention the actually jewellery itself is beautiful.

    I would like to thank all the staff at the Rideau location. I got a custom pendant made that was very intricate and it is more than I could have ever hoped for. During the design process and through follow ups, I spoke with several different employees and each one was exceptional. I will be recommending this business to all of my family and friends and encourage anyone thinking of custom design to stop by and speak to the staff about your vision. You will not be dissapointed.     The monent I stepped into the store at Rideau Centre, I was surrounded by real professionals helping with my not so usual task: to find the exact same item as my daughter bought years ago. What a difference from so many other places where staff “just do the job”.     My husband is a regular customer at Magpie...mainly the Richmond Rd. location in Ottawa. He recently purchased a beautiful silver bracelet for my birthday but it was too big and needed a few links removed. I went back a few days later to pick it up and was shocked that they were charging an extra $30.00 plus dollars to remove two links. The employee was very nice and pleasant but they manager came out and was very rude and dismissive. Will not go back to that location again. Btw...you can order directly from the 'House of Himwitsa' in Tofino B.C. and cut the middle man out directly!

    I needed my engagement ring resized after putting on a lot of weight from getting sick. I was told quite rudely by other jewellers that it just wasn't possible to go up 3 sizes. The staff here, though, were entirely understanding. They assured me their jeweller would almost certainly be able to do it, and they walked me through every step of the process so I would feel comfortable with it. They didn't just do their job, but they helped me feel better over how the other jewellers had treated me. It only took 8 days for my ring to come back, beautifully sized and cleaned. I will be recommending them to anyone who asks.

    Went in to find the ring pictured on the sign in front of their store. I was ignored and avoided for about 10 mins. Sales associated was extremely rude and then barked at me that the ring pictured was a custom piece and I couldn’t have it. Regardless jewelry in stock looked very low quality and made in China stickers were clearly visible.

    BEST OF THE BEST! I've always loved shopping at Magpie. Great selection of beautiful jewellery at a range of prices. Recently I took a number of pieces of family jewellery to understand their value and consider options for reusing some of the stones. Martin and team are amazing. They are knowledgeable and professional and also very approachable with pragmatic advice. I'd give them 10 stars if that was an option.

    Fantastic service from Cathi, we were here visiting for only a few days and decided to get two rings both of which needed to get resized plus another ring that needed to be customised. Cathi was brilliant and moved mountains to get our rings done before we left and was in constant communication even on her day off. Amazing service highly recommend!

    My husband custom designed an anniversary solitaire with Cathi’s expertise At Rideau. The result is stunning and far surpassed my expectations. The ring is beautiful, the quality exceptional and the service provided by Cathi was amazing. I highly recommend the custom experience.     I have been a loyal magpie customer for years and have purchased many pieces I love and wear to this day but after my experience today I will never be shopping at the Rideau location again. My sister and I went in to buy a necklace that she had been wanting for months and the manager(with red hair) not only ignored us the first time we asked for help but was super condescending and rude when she finally helped us. She basically slammed the tray with rings on the counter when simply asked for a price of one and never actually told us the price. The managers tone and attitude was so awful I told my sister it wasn’t even worth buying the necklace from someone like that. This is also not my first bad experience with her and I was not surprised to read the other reviews that said similar things about their experiences with said manager. Something should be done about this before losing anymore customers

    I had such a wonderful experience working with everyone at the Magpie Rideau store. Cathi and Jude helped me to design my ring and made it look so magnificent. My fiancée can't stop looking at the ring and loves that they were able to include parts of her grandmother's ring. Such a fantastic experience and we will definitely be back in the future.

    5 stars isn't enough.. from gifts, engagement rings, and finally wedding bands for myself and my partner.. Magpie has been the go to destination. Cathi at Magpie Rideau may be the best jewellery professional Ive ever worked with. Cathi's commitment to customer satisfaction is a rare thing; she wont pressure you into anything unless you're 100% onboard, she answers your questions before you can even ask them, her authenticity is magnetic, her attention to detail is above and beyond, and overall persona will guarantee an A+ experience. I couldn't say enough good things.
