I agreed with other reviews that this place is “money milking from pet owners”. I had spent too much money more than $1000 for just 3 visits for my puppy checkups and vaccinations. Yesterday the Vet sold me the box of pills to prevent Ticks and mosquitoes for my puppy and I found out it’s double the cost than I could order from online without any prescription required. I called to complain and asked to speak to the Vet, his staff told me he’ll call me back but I haven’t heard from him since. I’m sure as a professional veterinarian, he doesn’t need to get rich by jacking up the cost of medicine from the new pet owner. Please don’t let him sell any meds for your pets without checking the price from the market first, unless you can’t buy anywhere but from him! We’re senior citizens and we used his services for my puppy because of the convenient location. I felt that he had taken advantages to treat our pet! I planned to take my puppy for neutering by him in summer, but he mentioned it will be about $700, is it reasonable??? I disagree with your response below, as I called and explained to you that I didn’t have a choice when you gave me the med and charged me. As soon as I got home and found out it was overcharged, I called back to talk to your staff and then you immediately. The BOX is still sealed and I haven’t opened and given to my dog yet, until I see if I could return. Stop writing more excuses and should be more honest to your clients with your fee. As I said before, you don’t need to get rich from new pet owners by overcharged the medicine for their pets. Period! I’m not the first one who complained about how much you charged on this medication for dogs. Dog owners please be aware.

The first time I took my cat there for his vaccinations they took him in and didn’t let me in with him, which I found odd. The second time we went in for a general check up for our insurance, we noticed that the handling of my cat by the vet was too rough, so much so that my cat was terrified. My cat is my baby and I want him to be treated lovingly and with care. I do not recommend this place.

I gave this office a 5 star at first but after a few visits I have come to realize how wrong I was. This office sure had me fooled at first but my eyes are wide open now! First couple of appointments they put on a wonderful performance but once they think they have you normal cash grab practice resumes! It is 100% all about the bottom line for them not the animals! I was shocked to see I’m not the only person feeling this way! Will be taking my business elsewhere. My animals deserve better!

Informed that we needed to do blood work prior to spaying my cat and that we could book an appointment afterward. After completing the bloodwork we were told that they are not accepting appointments for spaying. I just had my second cat neutered and was informed by our new vet that this blood work is not required. Overall most interactions with this vet felt kind of shady. Do not recommend.

Beware: Money Grab - They had the invoice ready AT THE SAME TIME they did my dogs check up. How did they determine which tests to charge for before examining him? I also agree that Dr. Kamat was condescending. He needs to work on his lack of customer service skills. He only explains the charges in small detail WHEN ASKED so make sure to grill him because he does not like to explain and will make you feel like an IDIOT, rushing to get you out. Also, He doesn’t explain the options if You don’t take the tests as the fees are astronomical! Advice to save money so others don’t go through the heartache I did. You may not need a test the first time. Ask about your options and if the problem keeps persisting then opt for the tests! Unless it’s something urgent of course but the vet here aren’t honest. They will advise you need tests everytime, even if it’s something minor but make it sound severe to justify it! Not everyone has that kind of money to spend! I’ve gone there 3 times in the past 3 months and each bill was over $700! So be prepared to spend…Do some homework. It’s my first dog so I went with what the experts “recommended”, but what’s more important is a caring vet who takes time to explain things, and treats customers with patience and respect. HIGHLY DO NOT recommend!

while I do not like disparaging local businesses, I do unfortunately have to agree with most of the negative comments. Overcharging and focus on money making is definitely TRUE. I found also their handling of my pet to be rough. The young lady (the assistant) had a much softer approach. There was no real contact with the vet himself. No trust relationship. A salesman. I have had much better experience elsewhere. Was attracted by the location. I will drive the necessary miles for the well-being of my pet.

My partner brought her kitten in for his second round of shots and clarified over the phone that this was the only procedure that was required. This was his first vet visit and my partner was searching for a place that would make her feel comfortable and cared for. Upon arrival she explained that there was less than a minute long exam and then the assistant took her kitten away without explanation to a procedure room and the vet presented her with a full list of changes (that had been made up before she even arrived) that were never discussed beforehand. She asked if two of the medications were absolutely necessary and the vet and assistant out front INSISTED that he needed them even though she did not feel comfortable with it. They took advantage of her by pressuring these charges when he simply needed 2 shots and medication for his ears. This clinic only cares about money and will gauge you without any care for clients or their animals. Super disappointed and would will not recommended this clinic to anyone. The owner has responded below and I will call tomorrow to discuss. Will update.

I called to get a quote for my kitten’s initial vaccines and was told $78. When I actually came in to get them done the vet handed me an invoice for $245. Not only is this price ridiculous and way higher than most other vets but lying about the price to customers getting a quote is incredibly deceptive. The receptionists were incredibly kind and I know it’s not their fault. Whoever the owner is that sets these deceptive practices is gross. I would recommend Crossing Bridge Vet going forward- they are honest with their quote.

I have to agree with other negative reviewers reporting that this vet feels like it's solely out for money. Their practice of requiring signed invoices and charging payment prior to running the tests only affirms this, not to mention their prices are way above average. The facility itself is cramped and unwelcoming; and the front desk staff are kind but very disorganized. I've also never seen my (small, very gentle) dog handled so roughly during the exam by both the vet and his assistant, where I wasn't even allowed to stand near him to comfort him. The vet also came across very condescending, literally laughing when I mentioned what my sister-in-law (which is a vet tech) had suggested. When I called the vet after starting the medication they prescribed due to my pet suddenly urinating everywhere uncontrollably, the vet called me back to explain (which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1), but said "like I said when explaining the medication", when he never mentioned that as a side effect, hence why I was concerned. I did not feel like they genuinely cared about my pet, and will not be bringing him back.

Dr Kamat was quick to take us in, very appreciative of that, did thorough blood work and X-rays (expensive) but needed- I wish the the doctor would have let us know that given the age of the cat, restoration of it’s health was difficult not only impossible . And the expensive medication prescribed was ineffective for number of reasons - especially the heart medication (it was futile because of the cat’s age) we found out later, and may have done more harm than help. When our cat collapsed, 6 days later, after this visit and the medication, we sought another vet’s opinion, who didn’t prescribe unnecessary treatment or medication but was focused on keeping the cat comfortable as it died the same day.

Can you imagine what you will feel, when you sent your 4 year old healthy dog to this clinic for a tooth surgery then got a sick dog home then have to get an euthanasia on him after 3 days? My four year old dog who is completely healthy when tested right before a tooth removing surgery. Then right after we took him home, we realized that he isn’t able to eat anything or even move. At first we thought it was because of the anesthetic that caused the problem but it lasted for days. So we took him back to the client and three days later the vet told us he died because of kidney failure. The vet explained the reason he died was he ate some poison somewhere some time. I totally disagree. Because before the surgery, the vet did thoroughly exam on him including blood test. If he was poisoned, it should reflect on the blood test. After surgery, he was very uncomfortable, even didn't eat any his favorite food. Would he be curious to any poison? I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. All of our family is extremely sad and angry about this unfortunate fact.

We rushed our boxer in who suddenly had paralyzed legs. We were charged over $1000 to be told he has chlorine in his blood, and gave us pills and sent us on our way. When returning home we felt totally helpless and very confused. our dog couldn’t walk, was screaming in pain and was urinating blood. Went to the Orleans animal hospital the next morning for a second opinion and they said it was very clear and obvious that it was a blood clot and he was paralyzed. We were told this in minutes and was charged a lot less money. We lost our fur baby that day, and we couldn’t be more disappointed with the service we received at this hospital. I even asked if this could be a blood clot as it seems likely to me. I was told no, he has a disc dengeration disease and would likely improve over time. Also, I had 2 vets look at his blood work and both confirmed there was no high level of chlorine in his blood.

Very much enjoyed my experience here. Staff was friendly and genuine by recognizing my stresses and anxieties regarding my dog. All treatments, diagnostics and procedures were detailed on paper with pricing before hand for my sign off. I very much liked this transparency. The vet himself was very professional, provided multiple options on treatments and answered all my questions reasonably. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

I have had nothing but awful vet experiences in the past few years. I was scared to even attempt but had not choice my dog needed medical attention and my expectations were surpassed . Not only was the service amazing and all the staff so polite and helpful but there was one vet technician who took my dog and made sure he was comfortable the entire time and returned him to me and he was as happy as can be. I would like to thank dr. Kamat and Mikaela( technician) from the bottom of my heart.I recommend anyone and everyone to switch over to this clinic. Thank you again .

I visited the clinic with my cat Walter. He has a scratch on his paw that turned into a very painful abscess. Dr. Nasir took such goo care of my cat. He cleaned the wound and put a little cone on his head and provided all the medicine we needed. He also personally called a few hours later just to check up on Walter and ask how he was doing. We were so impressed with everyone in this clinic from the person who did our intake over the phone to the doctor. We will always bring our cat here for care. By far the best experience. Thank you guys

I brought my puppy to get his first shots and was greeted right away with kindness. As I waited for him to get his shots they were more than willing to answer my questions (I asked a lot) with patience and understanding. I will continue to bring my animals here and I recommend it whole heartedly.

The worst I had to deal with. Every time I go, the vet makes me sign a waver when I decline tests or other unnecessary vaccines. He gets angry, reminds me that he doesn’t charge for consultations and makes me very uncomfortable. For annual vaccins he includes Pyrantel, Borderella , Leptospirosis and rabies, and the bill is always over $400. I checked with other owners and found out that their little furies get only two vaccines, DHPP and Rabies. For four years I was over paying for vaccines that weren’t needed and dealing with a dishonest vet.

he doctor at this clinic was outstanding! he very recognized the problem immediately with my cat and remedied it right away. No extra tests or costs. He only charged me for services my cat needed. He addressed the problem and solved it. My cat was feeling a bit sick from the antibiotics. The doctor quickly provided a prescription for his upset tummy the same day, then called me later in the day to check up on him. My cat is feeling so much better. He has 2 feline care takers at home to help with his healing ( pic below). Thank you Dr. Nasir for your help. We are lucky to have found you.

I reached out to Dr. Kamat and the team at the Ottawa Barrhaven Animal Hospital for an overall checkup and care advice for an adult rescue cat from a military site in eastern Europe. I can't thank everyone enough for how well they set the cat and I at ease, and walked me through the planned assessments steps. Afterwards, they explained test results and recommended treatment and follow up. I'm very grateful for the thorough care, especially given what I do know about the cat's history and how much we couldn't know. I appreciate the time taken to walk through medication details, and knowing they're there to help if Buddha 🐱 needs help before his next appointment. Everyone was kind, very professional and caring. The waiting area was spacious, as were exam rooms. We even got advice on every day details like food - really helpful for a new pet!

I did not get an appointment with my regular vet, Ottawa Barrhaven Animal hospital was very prompt and accommodating and gave an appointment for the very next day. The reception staff, assurance and Dr. Kamat were all very welcoming and friendly and the best part was that the appointment was on time. They were ready to welcome my pet. Overall a great experience and highly recommended their Service

If no stars were possible, I would give it no stars or minus 5 stars - awful place with dirty rooms and arrogant receptionists. I showed up at the scheduled time and had to wait close to half an hour with a nervous puppy in the dingy room with floor covered in spilled dog food and hair. The doctor could not have less concern for the pets or the owners. He insisted that my dog needed a shot since he is 16 weeks old. My dog was not 16 weeks old yet and when I mentioned that fact, he responded in a very rude manner. He took my puppy and put him in a cage. I heard the puppy crying and started walking towards the room where he was when the doctor saw me and started yelling at me. I am never going back there again and I do not recommend this clinic to anybody. The 5 star reviews could only have been written by the doctor himself, his friends or family.

Whilst in Canada, the OBAH have looked after my cat Bruce Lee beautifully. Even when I took him for his certification to travel far too early, they were good enough to rebook him in closer to time for free. They did an awesome job of cleaning his teeth too :) The staff are lovely, friendly and I feel like he’s in the best of hands when he’s with them. Highly recommended!

Also deworming he told me he use best one and i tried yesterday easy to do with my cat. I really recommend here and i am for sure i will be one of the customer here. Terrible experience (about a year ago). I'm writing this super late because it's been about a year since my first visit, and I'm now looking for a new vet. I'm sorry, but the front desk staff looked like zombies - absolutely no life in them. I still am shocked by the energy in that office. The vet came off as being all about money, rushed me, and was extremely short and rude. The only positive was the worker who came to pick up my cat in her carrier when I left her there. They seemed to be human-like and had positive energy. Whoever they were - you made a difference and you should be rewarded. Hopefully, it was just a bad day for almost everyone working at this hospital, and the owner has taken a few notes from prior reviews including this one since then.

I was able to get a follow-up appointment in two weeks. Definitely recommend!

READ THIS BEFORE YOU VISIT! If you're looking through all the reviews before taking your animal to the vet and you're feeling nervous, I felt the exact same way. Before I continue, keep in mind that generally speaking, people don't often write positive reviews regarding their experiences but others will rush home and write a terrible review if they had a negative experience. Some people do have a bad experience but that could be said about literally any business/clinic. We are not living in a perfect system. Things happen. With all that to say, Dr. Nasir was not only extremely gentle and kind to my cat, Sushi, but he even went the extra mile and made his own anti-bacterial solution for me free of charge to put on my cats chin acne along with an entire package of gauze. He was professional, soft spoken, extremely sympathetic and welcoming. So were his assistants and receptionists. Him and his assistant explained all the charges to me and what they will do to help improve my cats chin infection as well. I was so stressed out before coming to the clinic but all the staff and Dr. Nasir made my day with their professionalism. They have over 7 thousand returning patients and continue to get more as the years go on. I was charged a reasonable amount for my visit considering this was an emergency. Pets are expensive and cost money, people! Prepare to spend money on them. If you cannot afford animals, then please reconsider getting them. They need care and attention just like we do.

We visited this clinic for ear mites and discovered our pet had severe allergies and infections in both ears. I did find it on the expensive side and wished there would have been more alternative treatments with less side effects then what was provided. I can appreciate that our pets ear infection was quite severe. I will give the vet credit for reaching out and discussing it further after my first erroneous post. He did spend some time clarifying his path of remedies. I am remiss not to correct my earlier post.

My dog recently had surgery here and while the care was great, the cost was significantly more than I was quoted. We were told it would cost between $650 and $850 depending on complications but when I dropped my dog off, they charged me $1050- even though the surgery hadn't yet taken place (and therefore they couldn't have known if there were complications). We ended up spending over $1800 on the appointment, medication and tests. Further, we were told that we had to come back to have his stitches removed- which costs another $100. My dog has had no problems from the surgery- but we chose to get the surgery here because of the lower quote and then we ended up spending almost twice the amount of money as we anticipated.

This place absolutely gouges you with their pricing. The vet is also very rude, condescending, and judgemental. Our dog needed an assessment and required antibiotics and a special shampoo. This cost 715$. Merry Christmas. Were moving to a different clinic. I wish I had read these reviews before deciding on this clinic. :(

I highly adoubt the reviews are fake. while other animal hospitals are fully booked till months after but this one has spots. as a new pet owner. i fully trusted the rating on google. but when i get there i feel bad already but i have no choice since the little one need the vaccine. first the adminstration was not professional. closes are full of fur and looks dirty. warning: you can't go inside the clinic becuase of "COVID" . after couple second my pet went in, i heard he was barking sadly. plus don't try to save 20 dollars service fees here because the doctor have more ways to charge more money from anywehre else. very pushy sales and don't give you chance to rethink about it since your dog is in the clinic already. the vaccine card information is showing wrong birthday. wrong name. and nobody going to show you when and how to feed the med.

I'm only giving a 3 star because of the poor receptionist who works there. The doctor is great but not so much his staff. He should definitely hire better staffs. They lack professionalism. There were several incidents that happened like losing my puppy record, but I let them all slide until now. 1/ Called in to book a follow up appointment for my new puppy to get shot and she tells me my puppy is overdue for shot but they don't have anything for like 3 weeks. Fine, I'll take it since I need the vaccine for my puppy. 2/ Called in for UTI for my other dog, and she tells me there is no appointments available for 2 weeks. How does that help my dog's UTI? 3/ Called in today, August 16, 2021, for an appointment for my puppy, who has what it looks like hemorrhage in one of her eye. She told me again there is no appointment until next week? Again, how does this help my dog? I don't understand what kind of animal hospital is this if there is no appointment availability in the next few days...1 or 2 weeks for an appointment isn't going to help my dog. My dog's UTI isn't considered an emergency so I wouldn't go to the 24 hour emergency hospital for that. My puppy's eye hemorrhage is now being looked at by Alta Vista Animal Hospital, who the receptionist there was happy to fit her in. Anyways, if you can ever get your dogs in to see the vet, it's great because he's a great doctor. I will not be returning here for my dog's future spay appointment or anything else as I can't deal with the receptionist and their lack of appointments. And don't blame this on COVID or anything along that line as it's getting old. I came from Toronto who has 10x the animals & pets, and yet I am always able to get an appointment within the day or two of calling.

We have had to have our two cats assessed for various things in the past year by Dr. Kamat and the quality of care delivered by every member of the staff is nothing short of being truly exceptional. Dr. Kamat and his staff always take their time to answer my anxious questions in laymen terms with unrelenting patience. The entire team is so kind and professional and has never been judgmental or condescending. Their practice has never recommended or pushed anything unreasonable to us that are outside of practice guidelines. All treatment proposals are always given in print with a price and explanation before we give consent. The best part of their practice is that they do genuinely outstanding followup care and ongoing teaching. Honestly, we have total confidence that this clinic will look after our cats as if they are their own for years to come.
