😠 If I could give a -10, then that is what this vet is. I brought my cat to get 2 growths removed. Kelly Butler only listened to his heart beat . For $250.00 I payed for her to say my cat has asthma, examine his body for lumps or anything else, look and did not removed these 2 white things growing on... If I could give a -10, then that is what this vet is. I brought my cat to get 2 growths removed. Kelly Butler only listened to his heart beat . For $250.00 I payed for her to say my cat has asthma, examine his body for lumps or anything else, look and did not removed these 2 white things growing on his side, was extremely condescending, bragged bout working with the CDC (which is for PEOPLE ONLY) and the WHO (also for people). I also have 2 other cats at home and she said they all have asthma????? I I looked up the symptoms of asthma and THEY DO NOT HAVE ASTHMA. She was acting like a mental patient that ran away from the Royal Ottawa Hospital. I am going to put out flyers on every pole I can find to warn them of this absolutely, incredibly STUPID VET! The only professional person there was the receptionist.

I was pleased mostly with the service. I brought my cat there because it was determined that she had allergies. The cat was not responding to any of the treatment. I was told to bring the cat back in. At this point, she gave my cat vaccines that I never asked for, nor ask me if my cat could receive the vaccine. That was my first disappointment. Last week, I took my dog in to get her heartworm medication. The technician said she should have blood work done. I then said that this was a cash grab. I said this, because my favorite vet in earth (before he retired) told me that this wasn't necessary and explained the reason. The same day, I got my dogs medicine to prevent heart worm. It was almost triple the price that I have been paying the previous years from another vet. I called on the following Monday to schedule an appointment for my dog. The doctor spoke to me to explain that she had the lowest prices because she caters mainly to Vanier people ( I am sure they would not like hearing that) and that vets had a high suicide rate (in regards to my comment about cash grab. The comment was said to a technician and a young girl that I still have any clue what her role was in this clinic. There seems to be a high turnover. The vet said she will have to ask the staff how they feel to keep me on as a customer. Ultimately, refusing my beautiful, innocent dog. One of her comments was also "getting an animal is a choice" in reference to the high prices. In other words, if you can't afford it, don't get one. I was a disgruntled customer, and shared it with the tech. Now my dog is paying the price. It's not a problem however to find another and stop referring any one.

Dr. Butler and her staff are wonderful. They are compassionate and practical, and many times they have made life better for our weird little cat, whether it was diagnosing him with seasonal allergies (which helped us stop his vomiting) or helping him relieve discomfort or helping us make difficult decisions in the face of invasive surgery for end-of-life care. This team really cared about our cat. We would recommend them again and again.

Dr.Butler is the kindest, most understanding and reasonable veterinarian I have ever used in my 30+ years of cat ownership. She doesn't beat around the bush or sugar coat the situation.Because of her top notch skill I was able to have 7 years with a cat that probably shouldn't have lived a year or two

Dr. Butler is now working on my second cat...Gracie. Maggiecat was the first. My Maggiecat passed a few months ago Victoria is very courteous in the phone. Still not sure if it is true that a cat or kitten should be "bathed" 50% of Vets say this is torture for a cat and 50% say the opposite. Whose right and whose wrong??? Throw my hands up in the air on that question? Anyhow their very professional there. I thank my friend David for helping with the vet bills as an on low income. Staff very friendly and kodoos again....to Victoria.

SAVE YOUR MONEY! Go somewhere that will respect your advocacy and money. My cat was vomiting for almost 2 weeks. Without taking a blood sample or fecal test (barely even a physical exam) I was told he was vomiting from asthma. The vet was rude and dismissive when I doubted this. She could barely make eye contact she was so busy staring at my chest. Very inappropriate and I was very disappointed with her work or lack there of. They didn’t even offer fluids as he was dehydrated. The vet tech was kind but she should go work somewhere not run by a crook. They claim in their reviews they keep costs low. Do yourself a favour and call other vets in the area, almost half the price! I got a second opinion and turns out my cat is having an immune response due to infection or an autoimmune disease. Trust the reviews, don’t come here!!!

First time we went to see Dr. Butler, our dog was very sick and Vanier Animal Hospital was the only place that could get us in, in such a timely fashion. Getting him in literally saved our dog’s life. We have multiple pets that we now bring to this clinic and Dr. Butler and her staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating. I love how much they emphasize on preventative care, and are always a call or email away. I will forever bring all of my pets here and I recommend this clinic to everyone. You all are truly amazing ❤️

Vanier Animal Hospital was quick to respond to my email inquiry, and very transparent about the costs involved in me getting everything sorted to bring my cat to the UK. They went out of their way to get information for me, and when I brought in my anxious cat were super gentle and kind with him, making sure he felt as secure as he could. They did mention allergies, as other reviewers have mentioned- but stated It didnt really matter as I'm leaving soon- which leads me to believe the vet really just wants the best for peoples cats, as opposed to it being a 'cash grab'. They also recommended medication to help calm my cat down when I do travel. All in all really nice personable staff, and a good experience.

We recently took our cat for a second booster shot and had a horrible experience. Our previous visit had us being quoted at $2-$3 thousand dollars for some dental work which we couldn’t afford. They did not provide us any other details or financing options so we went to a cheaper vet which was a fraction of the cost but ultimately didn’t address the root of the decaying tooth problem so we were still back at square one. As soon as she stepped into the room, she started berating us and shaming us for seeking a cheaper option than her clinic. She did not even take the time to hear our side of the story and instead accused us of mistrusting her judgement and implying that we did not care about our cat. We were then shocked even further when she told us we should seek veterinary services elsewhere. We came to her seeking help and instead she shamed us and turned our cat away simply for seeking a more affordable option. If you’re looking for an empathetic vet, we would not recommend this one at all.

very professional and clean animal hospital, we were very distraught about how short our dogs nails were trimmed during his neuter though. the tech said while leaving "it's normal for their nails to bleed a bit while cutting" and though we have nicked his quick a couple times during trims we have never had them cut back to such severe stubs. it's now the next day (and though he has allergies, he is medicated for them and we're taking preventative measures and have seen massive improvement thanks to Dr Kelly) he is constantly licking at his paws- dramatic when he's barely tried to lick at his neuter wound. I'm sure the first nail could've been an accident but on all four paws each quick is drastically exposed; worrisome and frustrating

As a medical professional myself, my expectations are VERY high, and Dr. Butler and the Vanier Animal Hospital team exceed those expectations. Dr. Butler's knowledge and care is excellent, as well as her no nonsense ability to get down to the root of a problem without over treatment or over testing. The staff also must be mentioned. From initial phone call to vet tech care, they are attentive, knowledgeable, and generally add to the overall experience. Of the many vet clinics I've dealt with over the years, and this is one of the best.

My friend brought his dog here and had a terrible experience. He asked me to leave a review to strengthen his negative review, and since this is google and there is absolutely zero oversight, here is it; one star. Make my friend happy, you make me happy. Welcome to reputation management.

I brought my bf in for a teeth cleaning and also to have a few lumps (3) removed. I was given an estimate of $2,300 -$3,500 depending on the removal of teeth etc. They found 3 addition lumps I hadn't noticed. They did an absolutely incredible job on my dogs teeth and removed 6 lumps in total. The bill was lower than I had expected. My bf is recovering and in good spirits. I am very grateful for their services and insight. I never give perfect scores to anyone or anything because there is usually always room for improvement, but Vanier Animal Hospital has my indefinite loyalty as a client. Thank you Dr. Butler and staff.

Dr. Butler and her vet techs have taken excellent care of my new puppy on each of our visits. Her eye was scratched by another dog at the park recently, and Vanier Animal Hospital made it a priority to see her right away. They were efficient and delivered really great care, so I'd highly recommend them for new puppy owners!

Disappointing experience I was looking at bringing my animals to this vacinity as I'm new in the area and can't get over the lack of professionalism. I understand they can be busy at times but leaving me on hold for over 5 minutes with no communication is not professional. My dog takes a special kind of medication and before I could even tell them the brand they just said nope we don't carry it. I'm happy I found a vet elsewhere that was way more welcoming. This place really needs to work on their people skills since the people are the ones bringing animals into the clinic to begin with!

Congratulations on your wonderful new building and location. We are so impressed with your help. Dr. Butler, Victoria and staff have been so attentive this first year of our Labradors life. He is our third Lab and we really appreciate knowing we have the support when we need it. We found the right Team this time! Thanks and here's to the many years ahead. The staff is so kind, caring, professional, and accommodating. They were quick to recommend appropriate care with specialists when needed and provided lots of information to new pet parents who were getting a little overwhelmed. Cannot recommend enough! Special mention to Dr. Butler who is always gentle and reassuring, and techs Victoria, Chanel, and Crystal.

I recently had the privilege of bringing my beloved cat to Vanier Animal Hospital, and I couldn't be more impressed with the level of care and professionalism they provided. Dr. Butler and the entire staff were outstanding. From the moment we walked in, their warmth and compassion put us at ease. Dr. Butler's expertise and clear explanations gave us confidence in my cat's health situation. Thanks to their expert care and dedication.

I'm extremely happy with the care they give my cat and dog, especially my Dog who needs more care. They are extremely helpful when I have questions over the phone or email. When needed it is very easy to get medications, appointments and referrals from them. They go above and beyond in providing care to my pets and making them feel comfortable while they are there. In my experience they have not pushed any extra fees or added things on while my dog was receiving care. My dog even gets excited when he is there and loves the staff! Very glad that I picked a vet that my dog enjoys going to.

I’ve been looking for a good vet around Ottawa for years and I’m so happy to finally have found the Vanier Animal Hospital! All of the staff there are super friendly and genuinely care. You can tell that they really love animals and enjoy what they do! Especially the vet, she explains everything she’s doing and gives you so much advice and options and she’s so gentle with my cats and really knows how to handle my super energetic pup! So nice to see people that actually care about your baby’s health. I definitely recommend taking your pet there :)

Very nice clean looking building. Usually is faster for last minute booking, the best to accommodate. The receptionist takes her time to explain the medication dosage in detail.

Dr Butler is the most knowledgeable, compassionate, professional and reasonable vet we’ve ever had in our collective 2 decades of pet ownership, we can’t rave enough about the quality of care our animals receive from her and her incredible staff. Everyone treats our pups like they are their own, and us like we’re family. We recently had a scare with our black lab when she developed sudden and progressing facial swelling; Dr Butler saw us immediately and supported us through the next few days while we attempted to treat the issue. Eventually a small surgical procedure was needed, which they performed right away, keeping us updated throughout. Our dog has made a full recovery and the clinic even advocated on our behalf with our insurance provider when they declined to cover portions of our dog’s care. Our dog is as happy and healthy as ever and most of the treatment was covered by insurance. BEST VET EVER!!!

Dr. Butler is the most knowledgable and caring vets I've ever had the pleasure of taking my cats to. After multiple visits to other vets for our older cat with a myriad of issues and 'solutions' provided that didn't actually address the core problem, Dr. Butler was quick to tell us that our cat has allergies and relieving her problems is as simple as a weekly bath during allergy season. One bath later, and my cat is happier than she has been in years. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for great care from a knowledgeable professional. And shoutout to the Vet Techs, Assistants, and Front Desk Staff for always being so welcoming and kind - you all make the vet visit an enjoyable endeavour for us and our kitties.

Dr Butler and her staff (special shout-out to Victoria for her unending patience with my questions - thank you!!) are an absolute gem of a team to work with. They take fabulous care of my pet when in need and are always there to answer my questions and address our concerns. I also love the new office space they're in. If you're looking for excellent care for your furry family member, I would highly suggest this animal hospital. Thank you for all that you do, team!!

The staff at Vanier Animal Hospital are exceptional. They go above and beyond to provide the best care. They clearly love animals, and they put my very nervous dog at ease, which is no small feat! They are always familiar with the latest research in animal care and the welfare of their patients is their first priority. Take their advice, as they know what is best for your pet. Couldn't recommend them any more highly!

First time cat parent, always had dogs. They were very helpful in giving me information for a new cat parent. Dr. Butler was very thorough in examining Bandit, giving me pointers as to what to do and not do to give Bandit a healthy and long life. She handled Bandit with care, taking the time to actually examine him and not do a "rush job". I feel confident she will take great care of Bandit when I bring him in to be neutered. Everyone working there seemed like they were enjoying working there, being pleasant and friendly. I would definitely recommend Dr. Butler as your vet for your pets.

The staff were incredibly friendly, and the vet was the most knowledgeable vet we have seen. She is also LGBT+ friendly, and was excited to see a lesbian couple with kitties. The vet was also really good to the point our cats were purring while getting their vaccines. And the way she had treats ready to go, one of our cats was munching away while getting shots. I would give 10 stars if I could.

Dr.Butler and her staff are exceptional. They were very responsive, compassionate and simply brilliant. Everyone took the time, not only to treat my kitten, but to educate and inform. I feel relief knowing my pets get the care they deserve here at the Vanier animal hospital. If you are navigating the best health care for your pets here in Ottawa, look no further!

The kindest people i have ever met. They went over and above what any veterinarian has ever done for my beloved pets! They care about the animal...not the $$$. This is a hard quality to find along with a wonderful dedicated veterinarian. Also, they have the kindest girl that helped me on the phone named Victoria. I will ALWAYS bring my pets here! Thank you for everything ❤ Natalie & Bobbi

I brought my cat here a week early by accident. They still saw him and gave him his annual shots. Also found out my kitty has 2 fractured fangs that could eventually cause him kidney failure if left untreated. Also found out that it is not good to give too many Temptations treats to cats as it can cause urinary blockage. I didn’t know that. The staff were all super nice and the vet was very knowledgeable. The vaccines cost me less than what I had paid in Cornwall so that was nice too. Upon leaving, I received a little bag of dental cleaning food and a kitty toothbrush and toothpaste. I recommend them to anyone seeking a vet in Ottawa. The location is central and has lots of free parking. Cat friendly place.

Dr.Butler and her team are amazing. The staff are passionate about the well-being of the animals and make sure they do everything in their power to help every patient they have. Every time I have brought in my dog they have gone above and beyond to insure she gets the highest quality of care. During emergency’s they have managed to squeeze her in for appointments instead of turning us away to the emergency vet (that would cost twice as much.) I am grateful for this team and the passion and care that they give each patient. 10/10 would recommend.

If there were 10 stars, I would click them all. Dr. Buttler and the team there have taken great care of all of our cats and our dog Stella. From prepping them to travel to keeping them alive at critical moments. Thank you all for your love for animals and top notch skills!

Dr Butler and her team are caring and very thorough. They squeezed us in earlier than planned for an appointment due to growing ear concerns. She handled our feline friend so well; Frankie wasn’t scared and didn’t feel the need to be defensive like how she felt with her last vet. The team was gentle and compassionate towards her, giving her lots of pets, and the pheromones in the room definitely helped keep her calm as well. Frankie was also allowed to be accompanied which eliminated her fear and allowed her to get a proper and full checkup. Dr. Butler answered any questions we had going above and beyond giving us really good information on how we can give Frank the best care. Overall, Frankie and I loved Dr.Butler and her team. Her health was prioritized and she was handled with love :)

Today was my cat's first visit with Dr. Butler. He's quite a handful at the vet and while he still proved to be a challenge today, everyone was kind, compassionate, and confident. They were able to get him up to date on his vaccinations despite his demeanour, and really dealt with him well. Honestly, he even peed on the vet tech (Victoria?) while they vaccinated him, and she took it with a grain of salt and was still super kind to us (I'm sorry again!) We were in about an ongoing cough he's had, which turns out to be asthma. What I really loved and appreciated was that everyone involved took the time to explain thoroughly to me not only what this meant and the treatments involved, but also various other aspects about feline health, from food to teeth. Furthermore, Dr. Butler was kind to me, as well. I've had other vets and techs at another clinic be dismissive, mean, and unhappy because he is so difficult to deal with, but Dr. Butler was kind and respectful to me, and SO empathetic about the fact that my poor kitty is just terrified when he's in a clinic. Big thank you to all the ladies who were so patient and kind with both me and Odie today. It's always a difficult experience when you have a cat that's so scared and, let's be real, aggressive at the vet. Your work is very much appreciated, and your kindness was, too.

Recently had my cat Hazel's first visit with this vet. I was very pleased with all the great advice both Dr. Butler and her team gave me. I am a new cat mom and the advice was needed. May I also mention how caring everyone is and how great they are at answering their phones? It really shows they are passionate about what they do! Thank you! Definitely recommend this clinic to all pet parents!

We went there for the first time because our usual vet was currently out of appointments and we had a fantastic experience. Dr. Kelly was very good and professional in handling our puppies. The staff as well were very friendly and accommodating. Price was reasonable and they even gave us a dental kit for each of our pups on our first visit. Would definitely recommend!
