My 92 year old mother slipped on a rug, and hit her against the counter, and a 4cm split in her scalp was the end result. She was brought into the hospital and they gave her a CT scan and 4 stitches. Scan was ok: no internal damage. Thing is she was brought into the hospital wearing nothing but her nightie. When I picked her up, she was wearing this great dress (pictured here with her nurse). The dress was a donation to the Civic Hospital, and I thought she looked great in it. The nurse was so wonderful: she made my mom feel as good as they could given the circumstances. I asked her to pose with my mom: at first she was reluctant, but then she gave in and helped make this picture wonderful. The staff here are nice caring people that im positive are underpaid. They work long hours, weird shifts, and have to deal with extremely stressful situations on a daily basis. And this is indicative of every emergency room: nurses have to deal with a ton of stress, and they deserve a hug. Every day. So, hug a nurse, buy him/her a coffee, tell them how much you appreciate their service to the community.

Line ups are hard when you can't stand for long. Dr was upset when I was a few minutes late due to elevator construction and the lineup- hospital needs to improve

Love this place! Keeping me alive since 2014! Ottawa Heart Institute at rear on Ruskin. Thank you so much to all of the staff, including cleaning staff, porters, techs, nurses and doctors. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the excellent care that I received and continue to receive. Thank you for staying and caring for people during this virus as well. Peace and stay safe!

Took a family member to the emergency room. Was completely disgusted by the filthy bathroom in emergency and in Urgent Care but very impressed with the friendliness of the staff particularly considering how short-staffed they seem to be and the conditions they are working under. Those staff deserve recognition everyone from the doctors and nurses to the assistants but they definitely need more cleaners or to pay more attention to properly servicing the bathrooms.

No one goes to any hospital for pleasure or to have fun. I am very grateful with the nurses and the doctors, very caring and very helpful at all times. Amazing job they do with the resources they have that sometimes are not enough.

Terrible service took 8 hours for a doctor to come in say we don't know and send us out after only talking to us for 2 minutes. My wife sat there for 5.5 hours with a needle in her arm because they " may need more blood" but never took more, terrible place.

Everything was good, just waiting time sucks. Even we had an emergency, it took only 4 hours to get attended

Usually, going to the emergency on a Saturday night is the worst thing that you can do, but this Saturday night was an exception to the rule... I entered, was greeted by a lovely young lady in the info booth who directed me to the area to sign in. There, I was met by a smiling nurse who took my vitals and asked what the problem was, which I explained. Not only did she have a great attitude, but she had a cool batnurse t-shirt on, which some of the other nurses had as well. I was then sent to register myself in and was told there was an hour wait. I asked how to get to Tim Hortons, got the directions and hobbled my way there. Upon my re-entry into emergency, I was immediately ushered into room 8 of intensive care. I know it didn't take me an hour to get a coffee, so I guess I was bumped up in priority. So a nurse named Christelle came in and had a look at my back. She immediately sent in a Doctor who removed the bandage covering my wound after back surgery and was amazed at how good it looked. He took away the bandage and said that he wasn't sure he could get me one as high tech as the original but he'd do his best. Christelle came in 5 minutes later with the same honeycomb dressing that was on my back previously and went ahead and closed me up. She also gave me an extra just in case and some tape if I had problems later on. All in all, 1.5 hrs at the emergency back to my house, I was amazed. The politeness, professionalism, great bedside manner and sense of humour of all that I met should be given praise.

Parking is expensive. Good location, right near highway. Staff here are awesome, and this is based on many years, and many visits. Excellent family health programs, and so much more. Many nurses available. ...though that serms to have a lessened in the past 2 years. Truly wonderful hospital. We are SO lucky. #localguide

I have never had any problems with my visits to Civic Campus and the quality my family has received is great. If you are not sure where to find the department, I would suggest a visit prior to familiarize yourself with where you are going.

In and out quickly for a routine test. The place was clean and staff friendly. Free on street parking was available at night. If you are visiting for the first time have a Google first to help find the main entrance as its behind the main building and not visible from the street.

Pathetic. Short staffed. Over 8.5 hours in emergency to even be seen. No ultrasound technician at night. After getting back home at 2 am had to be back for 7 am. Finally home at 10 am. No staff shortage. Just doctors and nurses who want the long weekend off! Should have gone to the General!! Should have remembered the treatment my Mum got 3 years ago.
