If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My mother is 85 years old and no longer has a family doctor. She lives very close to Carlingwood so I thought I would check in with the clinic to see, if by some miracle, they were taking on new patients. The request was not for myself but for an elderly person. The receptionist was so RUDE I was gobsmacked. It was as if I was asking her for the world. Her attitude was, oh, too bad for your mom, we aren't talking new patients and the clinic will NEVER take new patients according to this incredibly unprofessional receptionist. NEVER? How daft is she? I honestly think I'm facing discrimination given the snobby attitude I'm often faced with by medical clinics in this backwards city. How is it possible that as a resident of Ottawa for the last 8 years, I too have not been able to find a GP. That receptionist's message was loud and clear....Get Lost lady, you disgust me and your mom will never be a patient here. To heck with this dump of a clinic. I'm beyond insulted by the way she spoke and treated me. I've lost complete faith in the medical system in Ottawa and Ontario as a whole. I know family doctors work hard, but they're elitist a holes. If that receptionist is a reflection of what the physicians are like there, good riddance!!

I brought my son (19) in to see a doctor about his declining mental health. He is on a wait list for a family doctor but needed to be seen. We were not only mocked by the doctor as my son asked I accompany him in for moral support, but he told my son that he “looked fine”. He shrugged us off, it was the most painful thing I ever had to allow happen because I was powerless. To add insult to injury as we were leaving the same doctor (Dr. Dobrowolski) was speaking to the receptionist about us while shaking his head in disbelief. At us. They both gave us the most hideous look as though we did something wrong. With the declining state of mental health in Ontario and the difficulties in finding family doctors and proper care I find this type of treatment repulsive and it spills over to the reception as well. I don’t recommend you frequent this place at all if you care about your health. As a family we still talk about this incident often I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

I went in today thinking this was still a walk in. They told me it hasn’t been one in 4 years or so🙃🙃🙃. They gave me options of different places to go. Very kind and professional.

I would like 0 star to this clinic. The worst receptionist I have ever met. Very rude and unprofessional. I was just asking simple quetions, she started to yelling at me as a patient who needs help. So terrible experience. I suggest anyone who saw this post just look for another clinic.

The staff are incredibly rude. I asked for "reminder" email so I can show my work so I can request the time off to attend my son's appointment. The reception staff were arguing with me, raising their voice, when all I asked for was a simple request and the lady kept yelling at me. The staff are Incredibly rude for something that was so simple and not even for me it was so my son could attend and I could get the time off work.

The medical receptionist called me "sweetheart" in the most condescending and impatient way when I tried to clarify if the appointment was over the phone or in person. It would benefit this practice to have training in soft skills. The doctor, herself, has been decent thus far.

Worst experience EVER! The receptionist is terrible so unprofessional and absolutely RUDE. I called to see if I could either speak to a doctor or have an appointment for my husband who recently was in a motorcycle accident and has a blood clot and on blood thinners. I had a very valid reason and concern to call as he has blood in his mucous and needed some form of direction from someone, I’m not calling about cold symptoms as my family doctors answering machine indicated this is the number to call after hours. This woman spoke over me would not even listen to me and said” You do realize there are no doctors here today??!!” There is no reason to behave in this manner what so ever!! I can’t even believe this woman is working the phones let alone working in a health care setting. It seems to be not only myself that has been treated like this as I see from past reviews all I can say is if you don’t like your job then leave ,don’t make other people suffer because of it! I will be letting my family doctor know about this situation.

I have an awful time trying to get through to them, I have not seen my doctor in at least 2 years because they never answer my calls and have no voice-mail option. However, my mom never has any issues so I actually had to get her to book my appointment on my behalf. I typically have to see walk in doctors due to this issue, I was just about to give up on them but I know they are hard to come by.

Dr. Kingwell is amazing. My 4 kids love and trust her and she is so great with them. The front desk staff unfortunately have no bedside manner at all and are always rushed and stressed. Likely a product of their environment rather than a reflection on them personally. The phone is always ringing and they are always rushing to get to the next patient.

Terrific staff. Amazing care from Dr. Kingwell Nayar. She truly cares and is very generous with her time!!

The staff are super friendly, and make conversation with you. Dr.Macintosh makes you feel comfortable no matter the subject. He is very professional, patient, and really cares about his job. All the staff are Very friendly.

We have been patients for decades and have found the front line staff to be very helpful, professional and friendly. Our family physician Dr. MacMillan has been a godsend for our family providing excellent healthcare to my wife and I, our now adult children, and now grand children. If not for Dr. MacMillan and other physicians at Activecare there are a few of us who wouldn't be here now. We feel very fortunate to be patients of Activecare Carlingwood and the fine staff and physicians.

The doctor I see is good but the nurses and staff are horrible and unprofessional. On one of my visits awhile ago when I was leaving I overheard the nurse mocking me to another staff member. Recently when I've taken my children there I've felt shamed for normal toddler behavior.

Pre-COVID paediatric service was wonderful and we never had anything to complain about. Now we are lucky if our calls are answered, can rarely get an appointment in person or by phone, and booking online has never worked for me. I love most of the staff, and our paediatrician is a lovely human, but none of that matters if we can’t get any service.

Just moved from BC. After a horrible experience at a clinic by south keys shopping centre the staff here are so friendly and welcoming. They were able to help us and we saw Dr. Short who was so great. He gave us a referral for my 6 month old to see their ped. Hopefully we will continue to have success here.

The absolute worst customer service, when calling i had to call 3 time just to try and talk to someone. When they finally answered “Sara” was extremely rude and not helpful what so ever. Needless to say ill have to call back tomorrow because they couldn't make an appointment at a doctors office, not urgent care just a normal appointment. What kind of clown show is being run over here?

One of the best clinics in Ottawa. I have seen multiple clinics before I ended up at active care Carlingwood. This clinic is rich with very good staffs, including the staffs at the reception. Dr. Gill is an exceptional personality and amazing doctor. He is ready to listen the patients and diagnosis spot on. Dr. Kingwell is a very good pediatrician. Very happy with Active care- doctors and staffs.

Would give no stars if I could. Called trying to get help for an urgent issue (new to province) was shouted at by the receptionist that "we're not a walk-in clinic" When the main page of the website CLEARLY says they are. Get better staff that aren't so rude to the public & update your website! What a joke.

I have been going to Activecare Carling wood for many years and I don't have any complaints. My doctor, Dr.Macmillan is outstanding. He always listens to me and gives me the time I need. Reception staff have always been very friendly. Especially Zelda. Great work!

Always a warm smile very pleasant people there. Trust me if you're dealt with rudely there chances are you were being entitled and a delinquent. Been using them for almost 5 years sometimes 3 times per year never once had I had a negative encounter.

Dr.Gill is the best..All the doctors and staffs in the clinic are too good and very friendly..Especially the receptionists are amazing!!All staffs are very supporting and they create a very comfortable environment for the patients..they’re very good at handling kids too..And Dr.Kingwell is also an amazing doctor..Active care,Carlingwood is one of best clinics..

This place has the rudest staff(doctor Macintosh, reception). I did not receive the appointment reminder call, when I called to asked to confirm my appointment date they started yelling at me over the phone because i missed my appointment. I proceeded to ask for another appointment but doctor Mackintosh said he will not be my family doctor and I owe him $100. The reminder system sucks and calling in to make an appointment is the worst thing in the world. please avoid this scam of a place if you can.
