Today, I called this store to inquiry about a issue I was having with a Azalea bush. I bought it in early May and planted it in accordance with the instructions. During mid May we received some frost and the place in which I planted it wasn't optimal. It died through no fault of Ritchie's, but I called today to see if there was any warranty or any potential discount for the replacement, that I was going to purchase. Dana at the Garden Center office greeted me in a professional manner and immediately examined the bush and then informed me that it would be fully covered. I was amazed and extremely grateful. In a age when customer service is deteriorating this company excels at it. They now have a new life long customer. ;)

Although I have been a satisfied customer for the last 40 years, I am always surprised to see that the store interior is dirty, from the stained floor tiles to the accumulated dust on shelves and about the cash registers and some of the computer terminals. The walls, both inside and outside have not been cleaned or repainted in about 20-25 years. Interior lighting is inadequate and old. Such a thriving business has an odd way of up maintaining its premises and expects the public to accept that low level of maintenance is perfectly acceptable. Same for the warehouse loading docks, and especially the considerably damaged parking area and roadway leading to the store. This business does not seem to value what most of us expect from competing businesses. I hope that these issues will prompt change and that the management’s rebuttal to these observations that my wife and I have made over the past decades won’t invoke their need to keep their overhead expenses as low as they can for the benefit of the public.

An experience I look forward too every year! I can't remember a year I didn't make my way over to Ritchies. From staff to plant selection I've never had a bad experience. Following their horticulturalist instructions for plant care and maintenance I've yet to lose a plant purchased there, even the early spring sale over wintered plants!

Went mostly to look at indoor plants but their selection is small compared to other nurseries that specializes in them. Ritchie's is still a great spot for outdoor plants and landscaping needs.

Wowoowow!! I am so impressed with the landscaping section of Richie's, the quality and selection are unmatched. They had EVERYTHING I needed in stock, fast friendly service and incredible prices. Not only are the products at Richie's outstanding, the staff and service is above and beyond anything I have ever experienced. I have used several other landscaping companies for my business and no one can compete with Richie's. The new guy who runs the landscaping part literally knows everything about the products offered, gave me the best prices and most friendly and personalized service which will make me keep coming back to Richie's. Thank you to Richie's Feed and Seed leadership- I see the positive changes you are making to adapt to the changing enviroment of us customer's and greatly appreciate it! You have a forever landscaping customer!

Went to their summer garden party. Enjoyed hamburgers (they even had cheese slices!). Strolled about on this sunny hot day and found what we were looking for to begin our new waterfall area in our yard. Came home with a Nanny berry tree, a compact fire bush, colorful corn flower and a flowering bush whos name I can't recall already but it makes big beautiful flowers. All these plants were 30% off so definite bonus. So much selection of plants and birding items.

Big place, you can find all items under same roof which may not be available in big stores. However many items are pricier than HomeDepot and even Amazon. Yap I thought Amazon price was high untilI saw prices on items in this store. I went there specifically for Gaia Green products, price is high. I bought high domes for seed trays, which can be hard to find in other stores. Plenty staffs, nobody came to ask if we needed help or what we're looking for

Love the store on Innes and I’ve bought many things there over the years. Quite disappointing today in that they were completely out of a garden staple, which is the even blend garden fertilizer. The 10 – 10–12 is a great baseline fertilizer for the veg garden and it’s pretty standard stuff. Not only were they out, I was told that it might be in again in a week or so. Not so great, in my opinion, for the beginning of gardening season

I thought it would be better , honestly , as a garden centre from the pictures. They mostly sell deco / gardening objects than actual plants... And they have ZERO choice for succulents , which is a shame really as from the pictures on GoogleMaps, they seemed to have a lot. All they had were sickly plants and cacti (see third photo). They didnt have any other sort of succulents (as other three photos). Went in April too , so I thought theyd have more plants by then for the summer ... May go back to buy a house plant perhaps , but they didnt have much selection either on these , unfortunately. Prices were ok though , at least. Ended up buying succulents from Centre Jardin Hamel in Québec City (would give THAT garden centre 5stars)

Customer service is the best, each and every time I visit. I buy bird seed and feeders here as well as gardening supplies. Lots of cool gift ideas too.

I find the store is empty and disorganized. I wanted to buy an orchid they had and they wanted over 80$ so expensive. Also went for chicken feed and couldn’t find anything and asked for help on soil and not much help was given.

Always able to buy those hard to find things for your backyard. From maple tree spigots to specialised animal feed, so much to choose from. Great place.

I had to return an Emerald tree that I planted last year. I notice the colour was going brownish, the leaves were dry and compared to the other 2 healthy ones, it was obvious the tree is dying. I planted more than 15 evergreens in my life, and believe I have the experience, but when I returned the tree they immediately started accusing me, without even asking, that I didn't cover them for the winter and accused me of killing the tree because it is still dormant and I pulled it from the ground. I felt treated like garbage honestly. So if you want to return any tree that you think is dead, think twice, their definition of dead is very different from everyone else, they are the 'experts'. The photo is fuzzy, but you get the idea.

Can't say enough good things about this store. The MAIN thing is they don't waste money making their store "LOOK" high end or like some weird downtown boutique, which keeps their prices super low, and their customers happy. plus the rustic farm like atmosphere is what makes ritchies so unique. Great place.

Complete scam! Had several issues with Ritchie plants over the years, only to find out their "money back guarantee" is not money back. They provide only store credit, and this is NOT disclosed at all checkout locations. One of the issues was that the fruit trees I got were not growing as expected after planting, were very small and expensive compared to competitors like Canadian Tire! (where you can actually get a refund) Another issue was they sold incorrect types of veggie plants and we only found out at the end of the season when they bore fruit.

Sara was absolutely fantastic and extremely knowledgeable, helping us pick out 6 new trees for our yard. She spent at least 45 minutes with us, patiently taking us through the aisles explaining why some trees might be great for our yard and those that wouldn't be. And then at the end, she hand-wrote all the instructions and tips we need for planting the trees. We'll happily return for any garden needs in the future.

Very well stocked store. Was amazed at the different kinds of bird feeders including lots of choices for hummingbirds. Great variety of bird feed including multiple sizes. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable.

From a long-time customer: thanks for the superb plants and customer service! It's always a pleasure to go to Ritchie's (sometimes I bring a client along as well!)

  • 1/5 Tristan H. 8 months ago on Google
Misleading prices, horrible customer service, unreasonable condition of growing trays, they looked used with roots growing throughout them, they told me it was not used. Then told me it was “returned”. Definitely not a good place to buy happy things for happy plants. Shoutout to the dude who knew everything but chose to let the workers who didint know anything handle the situation.

Terrible, bought "seedless" grape vine from them 3 years ago, turns out it's not seedless, ALL the grapes have seeds !! Sold as Windmill "Flame"

The staff are so helpful. Great place to buy gardening and bird food(etc) If you have any questions or concern, they will do the best they can to help you. They don't push you to buy. Thanks to all the Kool staff

Always a favourite for us every year. Great stock across the board for annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs. Very knowledgeable staff. Way better inventory than the big box garden centres. Surprisingly good prices on Cedar shrubs. Nice work, folks.

Bought an indoor house plant from here and it was infested with spider mites. After spending weeks of trying to eliminate them, the plant is now outside my house for garbage. Also I had questions about an outdoor tree, so I was told to wait for the expert. The expert showed up and was very rude. On another occasion, I was there and that same expert was rude again. I hope she sees this post and reconsiders her ways. Otherwise Ritchie's has a great outdoor selection of plants with good prices. They are overpriced on other stuff, so you will want to go elsewhere for those. Most of the staff are friendly and want to genuinely help.

Reasonable prices, friendly and helpful staff. Got some great quality smart pots I couldn't find anywhere else (lightly colored and ones with heavy duty handles)

Great place to get seeds, plants, tools and straw for your garden. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Ritchie's is a destination we visit every spring and summer for our plants.

Richie is one of my favourite garden centers. Huge selection today, lots of new and interesting things together with the usual staples. Update: another great visit to Richie! A different selection but once again to s of interesting things and was not too crowded!

Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Great selection of all sorts of gardening products, and the only place in town I've been able to find tree branch sealant paste / wax. Will definitely return.

Lots of gardening stuff. You get pretty much everything here and prices are good. Staff is very helpful to make sure you get the right items. The place needs some renovations though as the building and roads here are getting pretty old.

Found everything I was looking for. I returned home and realized I had left a plant I had purchased. I called them and they knew who I was and assured me I could pick it up anytime. They closed at 5pm, but I arrived a minute or two after, but they graciously allowed me in to get it. A lot of places when they say 5, they mean 5. Best service and knowledge of plants around. I go there all the time and always will. I've been getting my seeds and plants for over 20 years now without any problems. 😊

I was amazed my first trip here by the amount of beautiful plants. Just SO many!!! And so many to pick from. They are dog friendly and my pup is tuckered out ! I got a couple shrubs and some Viney plants. I had a hard time finding the Viney plants, I wish they had more signs to say where things are. As a first timer I was sooo lost about where things were other then annuals, preannials, evergreens, vegetables and fruits. I think having better signage would help for those first timers like me! I still had a great experience, all plants looked super healthy and I always saw staff helping someone. Overall a great experience ! Can't wait to see my lilac bush in the ground ! (It's why I came, but walked out with more !)
