The Pond

Swimming lake

😠 Not super impressed. The water is kind of gross looking. One of the rich people came down to tell us to leave and was super rude! The rich people living in the mansions around the pond think they own it. While packing up me and my group saw many people come to swim that were obviously from the area... People often mention people, pond, swimming, swim, beach,

Not super impressed. The water is kind of gross looking. One of the rich people came down to tell us to leave and was super rude! The rich people living in the mansions around the pond think they own it. While packing up me and my group saw many people come to swim that were obviously from the area but because we are not we are causing a problem. You have got this big mansion in the capital city are your biggest concern is people swimming. We didn’t know this place had a curfew. There is some stupid rule making it illegal for people to come here after 2:00pm and the whole area is off limits after 8:30pm. What a joke. How can any one person state that nature is off limits. I get the whole it’s in a rich neighbourhood and they need sleep so they can wake up nice and early to work their at home desk job while the rest of us are trying to have a few minutes to relax after working hard labour jobs getting paid less and being overworked. This place sucks.

I’ve been religiously 🏊‍♂️ here April to Nov for 10+ years now. Always clean, sometimes crowded (but not always), and if you’re lucky, you’ll see some cool birds too! As the water levels recede during the season, the beach gradually appears typically in June and is quite big come August/September. Be forewarned, the swimming hours of 0700-1400 are rigorously enforced (the reason why… 🙄 🤷‍♂️) especially between Victoria Day and Labour Day.

Was a gem until people started bringing babies and diapers into the pond regularly... I use to love this place. Tx to the Entitled Ones for ruining this place for me.

This is the best kept secret in Ottawa! As far as swimming spots go. I’ve swam in all states of water in five continents. West coast mountain rivers, lakes and ocean. Desert, arctic, jungle, tropical Brazilian and Mexican beach side. African ocean coast, inland crocodile infested dams… And this is one of the best that I’ve ever experienced. Enjoy my friends. Kurt

Beautiful little gem in the middle of rockcliff. Family vibe and friendly atmosphere. The length is 150m for those looking for some exercise.

Totally unaccessible to wheelchairs you might be able to get a peek of the lake through a fense or two but that's as close as you can get. Don't follow any directions that tell you otherwise if the area is not safe for horses as posted it is definitely not safe for a wheelchair.

It’s a very cool hidden gem in the city. We loved chilling there and swimming in the pond. Can get very busy on weekends. And there’s less space. Bring your own floats as there’s no lifeguard. Free Parking is on the streets and swimming is only allowed till 2pm

Ottawa’s (no longer) best kept secret swimming hole. Very cute but increasingly crowded. Erosion has been a chronic issue which has limited the size of the beach. Best bet is to go during the week.

What makes this place special beyond its obvious natural beauty is that so few people know about it. It seems only a matter of time before social media does its thing and publicizes this incredible place. This watering hole needs more bad reviews hahahaha....

A really great watering hole to bring your family too, but beware that on really hot days it will be packed

The pond is therapeutic and green. We can't see the bottom and there are probably some turtles and fish in there. It's very healing. I let go of much negative energy in there. There is bylaw patrol regularly. You are being watched:)

Nice beach, warm water, no rocks in the water, nice sand, closes at 2:00 everyday, if you swim around the pond a few times it's a good place to get some exercise, people bring personal flotation devices just to be safe, gotta check it out!

Tiny and claustrophobic. Easily the worst beach in Ottawa, no contest. Barely has a place to sit. Does not live up to the hype. Good luck not feeling like you have people piled on top of you.

Hidden gem! Great location to have a quick swim. The middle of the pond is really deep, I cant even reach the bottom while diving down.
