The chicken here is absolutely delicious! The batter is SO light and crispy. If you're getting a whole chicken and like your sauce, I would recommend requesting another sauce. Sweet and spicy was my favorite but the garlic soy is still very good and is a nice savory break from the sweeter sauce. Edit: I recently found a new favorite - the bulgogi sandwich. The meat in the sandwich is super flavorful! It comes with potatoes and choice of salad or soup on the side making it quite filling. I used my left over dressing(perfectly creamy yet tangy) to dip my potatoes, worked great as a condiment.

We ordered some Korean style fried chicken from Maroo and it was SO good! Love how juicy and tender the chicken was. The batter was so crispy and delicious. It came with a side if pickled daikon (LOVE IT) and sweet and sour sauce. The batter was savoury and crunchy, and it complemented with the sauce so well. Overall, had a good experience ordering from Maroo. Definitely will re-visit to try the other menu items! :)

The food here is excellent. We reserved as a group of 8 and the staff were very accommodating. Although I initially came for the Korean style fried chicken, I also ended up getting the beef bulgogi sandwich after rave reviews by the rest of my group. I also really enjoyed the sweet and spicy sauce which comes with the chicken, as well as the fried potatoes which were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.

I had Maroo for the first time today and I loved it. I love Bulgogi and really enjoyed that the added the side dishes. The portion was excellent for the price and the taste was delicious. Also got the chicken cutlet sandwich and oh my! So good. I love their sesame house dressing. Will definitely be getting again!

First time trying this place and was very impressed. We got the galbi tang (beef rib soup) and the spicy seafood pasta which were both delicious! At the end of our meal, I noticed that they had sweet potato cheese cake (very rare to find in Ottawa) and had to try it out. I really liked how they plated it and it was also very tasty too. I would love to come back to try other items on the menu.

    This is by far the most impressive Korean food I have had in a long time. We came in a quiet Monday evening, a little past the regular dinner time. We were a little unsure what to expect at first because there was only one table of customers. But the amazing and attentive service by a friendly bearded gentleman put us at ease quickly, someone you donโ€™t normally expect to wait tables at an Asian restaurant. Even though it was past regular dinner time, the amount of care that went into each dish was still top notch. Everything from aroma and appearance to texture and taste was absolutely masterfully done. Their fried chicken is so good that I think if they turned into a fast food restaurant that sells chicken only they would bankrupt KFC and Popeyes at the same time. If good food can bring us happiness, then this restaurant has given me a happy memory for years to come. Some little details I observed that were just intriguing: 1. Tiny little place tucked away in an older neighbourhood without any parking space; 2. An atypical Caucasian bearded waiter at an Asian restaurant; 3. Unfussy decoration; 4. A chef who proudly wears a chef jacket that actually has the Maroo logo, something you hardly ever see at a such small restaurant;

What a discovery. Authentic Korean cuisine served pipping hot and fresh. Very crispy batter on top of juicy tender chicken. Spicy Udon was out of this world. Good attentive service.

Value here is amazing. Lots of places could charge double the price of menu items. Very affordable and probably one of the best value Korean places in Ottawa. Chicken cutlet is wicked good. Extremely tender with roasted vegetables or you can choose from rice, baby patatoes, salad and miso soup. They roast the vegetables to perfection. You have 3 sauces to choose from. Demi glaze, curry and sweet and spicy. I would recommend add all 3 as it's only an additional 3 dollars and they give a lot. My favourite sauce would have to be the curry and sweet and spicy to dip with my cutlet. The sides are all winners. They have their own version of miso soup which I enjoy. The baby patatoes are soft as a baby's butt. My God, they roast it perfectly. Season to perfection and it is the perfect side for any dish that uses curry sauce. The house salad is one of my favourite side items here. If you order here, this is a must have! Not only is the salad fresh but they have their own home made sesame dressing which tastes amazing! I'm not a huge salad guy but man I could drink this sauce like water. I could put this sauce in everything. Must try item! After eating this salad, you feel so fresh you might not need to eat vegetables for another year. My other go to items are the bulogi meals. I really need to try the chicken so I'll give an update on that when I do. I've had the spicy seafood pasta, thought it was pretty terrible. Overall great place, nice amount of menu selection and great prices. I order here regularly =)

IT'S a cozy and small Restaurant. iy has some interesting things like tofu/sweet potato cheesecake which sound interesting. and there's price is super affordable especially thinking about their location and also quality and portion for their food. and all staffs work there are friendly and professional. their kimichi with rice is so big. Ps: the sunny egg is 2 Canadian dollar but it makes dish taste better and itself tastes fresh and smooth. sweet patoto cheesecake also has creamy and soft sweet potato odor, taste and texture WHICH'S not heavy. it makes your mouth relax after a heavy dish

I only recently discovered this place, and what a hidden gem it is!! Their food so far has been amazing! My favourites are the kimchi fried rice, which is perfectly spiced with just the right amount of heat, and it comes with a sausage, which is a lovely combo. I also liked...no scratch that, I loved the beef bulgogi sandwich, it's soo delicious! If I had no control I'd buy it everyday!๐Ÿ˜. Got the sandwich with the Korean miso soup. Their kimchi dumplings and udon noodles are great too! This is definitely a new favorite and one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in Ottawa. And to top it off, their service is amazing, I've always been greeted with a genuine smile and great customer service everytime I've gone to pick up my food. I have traveled a bit to different cities and countries, and Ottawa does not have great restaurants with really great food and service, Maroo is one of the few in this city. Maroo restaurant, please keep up the good work and hope you maintain the high standards!

We ordered the kimchi fried rice and pork cutlet rice (didn't manage to snap a photo of the cutlet rice, was too hungry ๐Ÿ˜†). Both tasted great! And we got some fried chicken to-go as well. The place was cute cafe-ish! Loved the food presentation as well. Great Korean fusion food! And I personally think for those who've never had the opportunity to try Korean food in general yet, Maroo offers authentic Korean flavours perfect for Korean food beginners; but also a fresh take on Korean food for Korean food lovers!

As other reviews states, Maroo is a very humble restaurant, caring for their customers. I called for a pickup, and the lady was very friendly and helpful. Their chicken is definitely not the typical Korean fried chicken. Their fried chicken crust is very thin unlike the typical ones. I could tell they use fresh oil to fry. The moment I took a bite, I instantly thought โ€˜wow this is the fried chicken people wantโ€™. It was the perfect level of tenderness. The chicken was so juicy and tender I was โ€˜wowโ€™ed. I got sweet & spicy half chicken, and I couldnโ€™t finish the whole thing - so their portion is big too. And as a Korean, Iโ€™ve never seen a place that gives this much radish ๐Ÿ˜‚ so hats off for that too!

We ordered the Beef (bugolgi) udon and Spicy seafood udon, one order of mandu (dumpling) and miso soup. This was the first dining experience I had after the reopening of Phase 3. We had takeout from this place before and it was delicious - so we wanted to try again. In spite of the shortness in staffs (only the owners - who was a husband-wife couple) was there, they greeted us promptly and warmly, and provided awesome service. The food was delicious and the portion was great for the price. Their prices were also super good comparing to other Korean restaurant in town, allowing us to grab reasonably-priced Korean food. My Korean girlfriend said their mandu is one of the best she had ever got from a Korean restaurant. It seemed that they made them themselves, with good amount of fillings and also cooked them perfectly. We really like this place and will certainly come back.

Went by for lunch so place was pretty empty. Service was awesome! And the food was sooo good. Best fried chicken I've ever had, crispy on the outside and flavorful/juicy on the inside. Also tried the steak bites which was pretty good. Ended with the sweet potato cheesecake, a must try! Sooo good. Not too sweet, just right. Definitely recommend! Best meal I had in Ottawa.

Really good restaurant, high light on home made kimchi, juicy fried chicken and extremely friendly and helpful service. If you want to try some Korean kimchi in local Ottawa I will bet this is the greatest place I have ever had compare with ari and other Korean restaurants. Still hard to believe the juicy fried chicken, that must be the best white meet I have ever had before. Really good service, have to try out again!

Ordered delivery! Fried chicken (half) has very good portion, and the flavor is unique! Not oily compared with other fried chicken! I would have the chicken again! ( maybe the potato doesnโ€™t worth the extra few dollars, had a very small portion )

Amazing place to get a variety of traditional and fusion dishes and a very reasonable price (we shared everything in the photos between 2 people) to portions ratio! The Korean friend chicken was non greasy, crispy and super tender and juicy. The dumplings and spicy pork bowls were good but it was really the fried chicken that stood out. Looking forward to try their other dishes out! ** for people who arenโ€™t good with spices this is a nice place to go to since their spicy dishes werenโ€™t spicy at all (in our opinion).

First time to visit during my trip in Ottawa. Staff was very kinds and accommodating to my request. Foods were very lavish and delicious! Only one thing I would like to suggest them is, chicken sandwich was super hot. I burned my mouth from chicken cutlet. It would have been better if you had notified me in advance. But taste was great

Pork dumplings 5/5 Half fried chicken - absolutely incredible and a must order! 5/5 Seafood udon - 2/5. Way too greasy not too enjoyable. Atmosphere is nothing special hence giving a 4/5 They didn't have a liquor license when we went so just soft drinks, juice, and tea options. Great service! They're new - quite good. Check them out and get the fried chicken!

I work on Cooper street so i just called to place my order and they advised it will be ready in 10min. I first tried their Spicy pork bowl, macaroni and potato salad and garlic bread. All the food was tasty and the protein portion was generous. I did not really enjoy the salad as i prefer my potato salad more creamier with less ingredients but this had corn and peas which might be ok for others. I again tried their Bulgogi bowl which was equally great. It was spicy and did not have that sweet/sour after taste. The waitstaff was pleasant upon picking my food both times and the restaurant looked very clean. The picture here was for the Bulgogi bowl/garlic bread. Looking to try their fried chicken next.

Great food, amazing kimchi and potato side dish, and good price! Our third time being in the restaurant and order fried chicken. The chicken is very crispy and juicy, but a little on the oily side. You will feel a little too much grease if you have more. The food is very tasty, but can also make you feel a little too sweet at the end. But generally, we love the food there! Fried chicken, bulgogi sandwich and bilbogi rice bowl are very nice!

Heard good things about this place. Ordered the whole fried chicken to share between 2 people. It came with a small side of pickled radish and we added a side of Kimchi. The portion of the dish was good. The chicken itself was decent but nothing special. I prefer the Korean fried chicken from other restaurants. The batter on the chicken here was not what I was expecting and was very crispy, a bit similar to tempura. The sauces were good and served on the side so you can add as you like. I think I would've preferred if the chicken came with an additional side dish instead of the soft drinks. The atmosphere and decor is nothing special. Prices are good. Service was friendly.

The spicy seafood noodle soup is flavorful. I can taste the sweetness and the aroma coming from pan fried onion in the broth. Very impressive dish. Will definitely visit again when I come to Ottawa.

Maroo NEVER disappoints. Every time Iโ€™ve ordered from there, the food is delicious and the quality of food is excellent. Veggies are fresh even when kept in the fridge for a while, and takeout is amazing even when reheated. My fave is their chicken sandwich, spicy seafood pasta, and fried chicken
