What a great find! Their shawarma chicken and beef were both tender and flavoured well. The family platter for 4 had a good amount of potatoes, rice, meat, and veggies! I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it. Check out my photos! Really friendly service as well.

Very generous sized small chicken shawarma with lots of meat! (4.5/5) Chicken was not super flavorful but it was nicely moist and juicy. The garlic sauce was not my favorite, it was missing the fresh garlic punch, but otherwise everything was good!

My experiences with this place have always been amazing. The two gentlemen that served me today between 4:00pm and 4:30pm have excellent customer service. I'd like to mention the gentlemen who made my plater had an amazing beard. Edit: Everytime I go there the food is amazing. The customer service is exceptional. Love this place.

I've been looking for a good Shwarma place for a while now, an alternative to my other regular place. Google reviews led me to Garlic and Onion and I'm very impressed. The brothers who own this delightful restaurant take an artisanal approach and add their personal touch to Shwarma. Its nice to find a family run place free of the arrogance and attitude you see in the chain Shwarmas. For large families, the value of the platter with generous servings is very hard to beat. The cooking is less oily than other places and definitely healthier. The specialty sauces are a nice surprise, and the ingredients are fresh and flavourful in every item. Also hands down this is the best falafel I've had in Ottawa to date. The baklava is excellent too. Most strongly recommended.

Just try their Honey Garlic wings and you will keep coming back, I am addicted. Alright now that’s out, I have at most appreciation for this place their prices are descent and as a student I am really great full for the amount of portion they offer. Friendly staff too :) thanks for accepting my request to make different flavour wings!

Shawarma Garlic & Onion is a hidden gem! The portions are generous and the flavors are delicious. I have never left this restaurant feeling hungry. The customer service is exceptional, with the staff being friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and great service.

I wanted to try this place out because of the amazing reviews. I have to say that the reviews have it slightly wrong. It's certainly not the best but it's not bad at all. The quantity was fantastic. The person serving us food when we entered around closing time was such a nice person. He was very polite and accommodating and that really makes a difference. Having polite staff/managers/owners (whoever you were) uplifts the entire experience. We scoffed the food down because we were starving and we were happy with the larger quantities of food but the taste was just okay. It didn't have anything that made it stand out from the hundreds of other shawarma places. The sauces weren't special and the shawarma meat wasn't oozing with flavour. It was just above bland. I don't think we'll return for a second visit.

Very good place. Clean and bright inside, variety of dishes, the staff was very friendly and nice. Our order was made very fast. Platters are very big size, everything was fresh and very tasty! I am sure we are coming again. One of the best halal places!

We tried their chicken shawarma plate and were not disappointed! It was a very generous serving and we really enjoyed it. The people working there were very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend! We will be back.

I live around the corner and come in once a week or so now. It’s probably the best food in my neighborhood. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful and the chicken wings and garlic are next level. Great people working here too. Can’t say enough good things.

First time order while picking up an Uber order. True to the ratings food is very good here. Chicken has a outer crunchy bite yet moist and tasty. Salad is fresh and nicely flavoured. Potatoes is nicely cooked just the right softness. The quantity of food is massive. Thank you for providing such affordable food!

Oh my goodness Wow!!! First& Foremost I always grab the Mix Chick-Beef platter. It’s amazing plus more. ((If you know you know)) “Coming from Alberta I’ve had my share of Shawarma spots but this spot right here by far hold down Ottawa.” ‘Garlic&Onion’ is super bomb. A few times I thought otherwise but I quickly realized that I needed to redeem myself. If ever you pop in during the day, they have ‘Ali’ at the front who’s going to deal with you like a long lost brother. I’m sure they’ll treat you like family right from the jump. (Their vegetable selection is always fresh, the drinks are always cold and quench any thirst) BMO to the right of you gotta get your banking done.

Very nice and delicious shawarma, kind of a flat bread or naam wrap with chicken or beef, vegetables, pickles and special sauce, they have 9 different sauce. Reasonable price, quick service, they also have some sweet traditional pastry. Only the wrap was loose or a lot of meat, so when you eat everything tend to fall apart!

We placed a group order at work opposite to Shawarma Onion and Garlic. The food was amazing and fresh. The meat was juicy and they also gave us individually packed boxes due to food sharing in COVID restrictions. I would recommend this place for a quality Shawarma

Great shawarma wrap combos! The chicken sandwich/wrap with garlic potatoes is a great value. Employees are very nice and take their time to prepare your sandwich as well.

Amazing lunch or dinner spot. The platters are around $20 and you get an insane amount of food for the price. Really tasty, cannot recommend it enough.

Awesome team who welcomes you like family. My friends and I took the Donair and beef shawarma plate which was delicious and tasty. We also tried their fried chicken wings...DELICIOSO! The crisp on the chicken wings was fabulous to hear. The sauce gave a nice touch to the wings, but I would prefer to have the sauces on the side so I can taste the wings better.

Arrived for the first time this week as the reviews seem to be favorable. We were not disappointed. We came between lunch and dinner and they were just preparing fresh potatoes and since it was part of the combo he asked politely if we didn’t mind waiting a few minutes until they were finished. When we got the combos there was more than ample ingredients and chicken on the shawarma and all really fresh and tasty. The potatoes were great and the garlic sauce was excellent. The staff was more than friendly they were engaging and willing to explain their food choices and even how it is made. As we finished our food we were treated to a complimentary Baklava because of the time we had to sit for the potatoes. This was an unexpected treat and really took this place to the next level in service A lot of competition in Ottawa for your Shawarma dollar and Garlic and Onion sure have our business going forward

Was in the area looking for good Shawarma. Saw the ratings and did not disappoint. One of the best Shawarmas I’ve had in a long time! The beef had lots of flavour and the sandwich was very well balanced. Definitely coming back.

Ordered off DoorDash this evening, I was pleasantly surprised with the mixed platter🙂 The portion size is easily enough for 2 people. Everything was good, would have liked to see the beef a little more on the tender side, but it worked! Side sauces of Garlic, sweet were delightful. Roughly 21$ plus change was well worth it in my opinion. It's refreshing to see a restaurant giving consumers a big bang for their buck. Especially in this day and age where most are out to pilage. Great Job ladies/Gents We definitely recommend 👌

My husband and I often get take out from Garlic and Onion and would highly recommend it to anyone. The shawarma meal is quite generous; we weighed it at 2lbs of chickeny yumminess. Also, the staff is always very welcoming and cheery and they are our top choice for shawarma in the city.
