I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant with my friends and family, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with the overall experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the inviting ambiance of the place. But what really stood out to me was the staff. They treat you as if you’re family and get to know you by starting by asking your name. They are always checking up on you and assisting whenever they can. Speaking of food, the menu was absolutely divine. Each dish was expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. I do wish the chicken was more tender and had some pickled vegetables or more vegetables in general to balance the amount of rice there was. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. The music, environment, and food were all top-notch, and I can't wait to go back again soon.

We’ve ordered twice already and Lola’s Kitchen never disappoints! We had the BBQ Platter for 2 and to complete the Filipino experience which we miss so much, we ordered pancit and lumpia which were also delicious. The next time we ordered, we got the BBQ Platter for 4 and that was great as well. Generous serving! So, if you want to try the authentic Filipino dining experience, be sure to reach out to Lola’s Kitchen. They know their stuff, they’re easy to deal with and they’re fun and inspiring!

My parents hired Kim and his team to cater my sister’s traditional Filipino coming of age party and the food was INCREDIBLE. The presentation was beautiful (pics attached), and the team were wonderful to work with. Kim’s vibe is electric and bright. You won’t regret hiring them for your catering needs. They also have a restaurant in Ottawa if you want the dining experience. :)

Got the Beef Tapa and BBQ Chicken meals. Meats were full of flavour and tender. Plantains were too hard and not sweet :( Rice was good, had lots of garlic, lol. Staff very nice and appreciative of customers. This place is hard to find. It's on the second floor of the City Centre Complex. You have to drive up the ramp! The ramp entrance is in front of the Orange Art Gallery. The address of Lola's Kitchen is unit 232, but their unit entrance is labeled unit 230 (same entrance as LumberJaxe).

Last nights family takeout was from Lola's Kitchen, and this only being the second time trying Filipino street food, Owner Kim did not disappoint! I LOVED his food presentation, we got the BBQ platter for 2, it had a sweet glaze for both the chicken and beef short ribs which was separated by his amazing and flavourful garlic rice, we also added shrimp to the platter. The platter was served in a box lined with banana leaves and layed out so pretty. We also got an order of Filipino style fried chicken, which was interesting, the breading was more like a panko texture and the chicken was moist, not your typical fried chicken but still very delicious. These meals also came with a small mango salad, mango lovers would approve! We loved all the food and can't wait to try other items on his menu! I also wanted to mention how awesome their mural looks. This is a must try! #supportlocal #ottawafoodiestalker

I ordered the BBQ platter, pancit, and egg rolls for my son's birthday party and it was a hit! All the teens loved it and devoured it in minutes! The food presentation was lovely, as to be expected. And of course, the chef, Kim, was a delight to talk to and accommodated my timely request. He got my food ready for pickup on time! Would highly recommend!

Decided to try something different tonight and have never had Filipino food. And I was not disappointed. Though they were busy, they were able to fit us in. Reservations are recommended. We had the Kamayan platter for 2 and it was so delicious! The garlic rice was so flavourful! The beef ribs and chicken adabo were really done well. The owner, Kim, personally came around to make sure we were satisfied as well. Definitely coming back!

My first time at a Filipino restaurant. It was a delicious meal with an incredibly flavourful spread. We had spring rolls and the combo dinner for 2 - the portions were very generous. The beautiful presentation made it a feast for the eyes too! Highly recommended. Also very grateful for Lola's making Filipino food accessible for so many new diners like myself by having a pork-free kitchen!

We had Lola's Kitchen cater our Christmas dinner this year. From the time Joelene and Zoe arrived, they were very sociable , professional and curteous! They were creative with the setup and made the Kamayan Feast so beautiful, but the flavors did not dissapoint! Absolutely delicious! Being filipino, this brings back so much memories of family gatherings and traditions, now we get to share this tradition with our grand daughter. Thank you Joelene, Zoe and the whole Lola's Kitchen family! Will be using your services again for our family gatherings. From the Guloy's

It was a wonderful experience dining at Lola’s kitchen. We ordered a platter of BBQ chicken and Beef Tapa with some fried plantain and garlic rice . The portion was generous, the meat was very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Service was fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend and will be back in the near future. 5/5 👌

Had a really great experience when we came in with a group of 8. We shared a couple of the kamayan feast platters (B and D) which was perfect- it allowed is to try a bit of everything! Everything tasted amazing so you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The vibes were great and staff was all so sweet and friendly. I can’t wait to be back!

First time diner turned into forever customer! Lola's just opened their new location around the corner from me and it is truly too close for comfort! We ordered the fried chicken, beef short ribs (w garlic rice and plantains), and mango salad, and all three were absolutely incredible. A perfect dinner combination. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, and tender and moist on the inside. Short ribs, which were covered in delicious banana ketchup (which is wildly delicious!) were perfect. The mango salad was the perfect level of sour, and provided a perfect side to cut through and complement the delicious chicken fat. Already looking forward to going back and trying the entire menu. Go now and go often!

Lola’s Kitchen is the best Filipino restaurant in Ottawa by far! Check it out, but make sure to call to reserve your spot! They’re always fully booked! That’s how great their meals are! More power Lola’s Kitchen!

I’ve always been a big fan of Filipino food, and Lola’s Kitchen did not disappoint. We went with a group of 7 and we all left very full and satisfied. The only improvements I’d like to see are a larger space as the restaurant is quite small, and difficult to maneuver with a larger group / with baby strollers. Also maybe having a meat option for the lumpias.

We ordered a BBQ Platter for 4 to go. The food was ready and still warm when we picked it up, and it smelled so good. The taste did not disappoint, this is some of the best food I have ever tasted. The chicken, the beef, the plantain and the rice tasted so so good, and the shrimp were a great bonus. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat for catering/ big platters or even a chill date night. We will definitely go back again!

July 2022 Update: They are now on Somerset and it is such a great location. As great as the takeout is, eating in the restaurant is that much nicer! It’s so cozy and lovely inside and all the food was still insanely delicious as always. From Dec 2021 —> So I heard from friends in Toronto that Lola’s was fantastic…and when I got my first order (Platter B as pictured), it certainly lived up to the hype and more. It was delicious, wonderful flavours, and the presentation was awesome too! Based on the fact that the platter has 4-5 items on the menu (and all were great), I am extremely confident the rest is awesome as well.

We went there last night for the saxophone event, which was last minute cancelled. We didn’t mind since we were excited to try some food :). The owner was super accommodating though and still provided with a private version of the meal plan, for just my husband and I to eat alone. We had gloves to eat with our hands (with forks optional) and a big platter of food. All the food was delicious and all the staff and manager had excellent customer service. I would 110% recommend and will be back for another date night

I visited Lola's Kitchen for the first time for a family dinner recently. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise! They have a very cozy atmosphere, and servers are eager to help with welcoming faces. Add to it great tasting foods....you have a winning combination! We ordered a BBQ platter for 4. It had BBQ chicken, BBQ ribs and BBQ prawns, with plantains and garlic rice. The food tasted so good!! Most importantly, all their meat products are Halal! Their place is somewhat small with 25 to 30 people sitting at most. Also, they're moderately priced ($$). Our overall experience was very positive. And we all agreed to come back again. Highly recommended!

Lola's Kitchen lives up to the hype. The staff bring amazing energy, talented artistry and most of all delicious food, right to your home. Everyone in attendance was in awe of the display and array of tasty food, plus they were able to take home lots of leftovers! I would highly recommend trying out their catering.

Had an amazing Experience! Food Portions are generous and tastes Great. The servers explain the different flavors of food and spices which helps if you are trying their food for the first time. The space is a bit small so make sure to book in advance. Highly Recommended!!

Visited from Vancouver and was craving Filipino food. Such a lovely, uplifting atmosphere. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with such great energy from the lovely staff here at Lola’s Kitchen. The food was amazing and we (party of 4) left sated. Yes, the food does take some time to come out but well worth the wait! It’s definitely prepared with great attention to detail, love, and passion! (Just like how your Lola (Grandma) would do!) Definitively would recommend to anyone looking for heart-warming Filipino food in a lively environment. Thanks Kim and to the great staff!!

Awesome experience and food at Lola's Kitchen. My company and I had the platter for 2; Kamayan Platter (B). This platter states that it comes with Chicken adobo, bbq beef ribs, fried plantains and garlic rice. Everything was seasoned to perfection and cooked perfectly! The chicken adobo and bbq ribs were tender and delicious. The fried plantains (while looking like charred beef pieces) were sweet delights. Tied all together by the yummy garlic rice. We also ordered some additional items of milkfish (moist and tender) and house-made ube cheesecake (dessert for the end). All delicious. Our server is positive and fun to talk to. This place can be a bit costly, but for the unique experience (we ate with our hands!) and delicious food, it's very well worth it. I can't wait to come back here to try out their other platters!

The food taste amazing. Very good quality. Service was great. The server was attentive and friendly. BUT, 2 things, because of which I am giving it a 4 star: 1) 3 beef spring rolls for $12 seemed overpriced. We thought it would be a little thick/bigger, maybe because of which it was $12, but no. Regular spring rolls. But they tasted amazing. No complain about the taste. 2) Since we had short ribs in the order, we were expecting steak knife instead of butter knife. Its not always easy to cut short ribs with butter knife. I was struggling to cut the beef with butter knife, as short ribs do have tough parts. If the restaurant could make this change, that will be great.

I asked Kim to cater for my sister’s Filipino 18th birthday debut event, and he came through. I believe it was the first one he’s catered for, and the turn-out was AMAZING. I ordered the Tier 1 catering for ~50 people. The 2 main dishes I ordered were chicken adobo and beef tapa. Both were cooked perfectly—tender and flavourful. The sides, dips, fruits and garnishes were included with the package we selected; they were delicious and abundant. They arrived 30 minutes late however, it was because he had 3 other events to cater for before ours, and all the equipment and food is transported by Kim. Kim's set-up process was quick, precise and efficient. It was impressive considering the amount of food we ordered. It was more than enough for our party of ~50 people. The presentation was GORGEOUS. The food was beautifully laid out: well-decorated, organized, well-distributed across the banana leaves, and easy to select food (for the buffet style we desired). On top of the food delivery, Kim was very patient and cooperative in communication. It was my first time ordering catering for a major event so I had asked tons of questions. Kim made the process really comprehensive, simple and stress-free. He responded when he could both through e-mail and over the phone. He was a delight to speak with in-person too when we were discussing ordering and payment details! When he arrived to set things up at the event, Kim was very social, kind, warm, respectful, funny and super fun! If only we had the time, we would've loved to see some of his famous moves! He is the kind of guy you can rely on professionally, yet parang siya taong gusto mong maging kaibigan :) For anybody looking for a new, unique, authentic, Filipino food experience, looking for someone who works hard, is passionate about their work, and puts a lot of heart into what they do--you MUST give Lola's Kitchen a try. Otherwise, you're missing out. I ordered a Kamayan Feast for my birthday party last night, and it was a HUGE hit!! Jean and Jolene made their set up look like a performance and wowed all of my guests. The food was so good! My daughter who is a picky eater loved everything, especially the beef ribs. We have so much food leftover!! Thank you Kim and team for the amazing experience and making my birthday party one to remember!!!

We had such an amazing experience catering from Lola's Kitchen. They were very friendly and explained the different foods that they prepared. The spread was beautiful and everything tasted so good. Everyone at the party was WOWed by everything. Thank you for such great experience!!

Great spot for a date, family meal, or get together with an 'at home' atmosphere. Not too big, but nice and quaint. Ideal menu and good introduction to Filipino food. They got their liquor license, so it'll have more options now. Great dessert options, and share-meal style approach. Highly recommended, especially for Filippo food. Ottawa finally has spot for authentic Filipino food.

Worth the rating, the whole experience was great. The food was delicious , juicy and tasty! Quantities were great in the combination plates. There was 6 of us and ordered the box for 4 and box for 2 and it was perfectly enough. Our favourites are the two beef dishes, the short ribs and the beef stir fry. Worth a try. Keep it up owner!

Amazing! We ordered a variety of dishes to share and every single one of them was delicious. The pancit, adobo, beef ribs and garlic fried rice were the tastes I was 100% expecting and wanted. Highly recommend

It is on the expensive side but it was an intense culinary experience worth the price. Even if the meat and sauce steal the show, the finer details of each element that spiced up the rice, fruit and vegetables truly were instilled with love and passion. Served up on banana leaves on top makes this an experience that I will remember for a long time. Kudos and I strongly recommend it to anyone seeking a totally authentic Filipino in Ottawa.

Visited Ottawa for a few days and a friend recommended this place. It's mostly a takeout spot at the moment, call directly to order (it's cheaper than using uber and better for the business too!). Had the chicken adobo and beef ribs. Both were incredibly good! The garlic rice adds a lot of flavour. The rolls were even better the next day after a little air fryer refresh. Owner is very passionate and down to earth.

Great overall from order through to enjoying the meal. Kim is passionate about his restaurant, food was spot on in appearance and taste. Strong recommend.

Always great to try modern Filipino restaurants. Lola’s hit all the marks for traditional flavour profiles with modern visual flair! I will be back to try other offerings.

Ordered the kamayan feast, a custom order for my friends and I to enjoy. Great communication while placing the order, my only special request was to make sure that there would vegan options included. Otherwise, trusted them to take full control of what foods to include in the order and they did an amazing job doing so! Loved everything, but my favorites were definitely the beef ribs, garlic fried rice, and spring rolls!!!

  • 5/5 Laiza M. 2 years ago on Google
So good! We went here for my husband's birthday and we both really enjoyed their bbq platter for 2! The owner was super chill and even gave us a sampling of the chicken adobo for my husband's birthday! Will definitely come back!

I can't recommend Lola's Kitchen enough. Kim's passion for his food and how it represents his heritage were clear in our delicious meal. We ordered the adobo chicken, grilled stuffed fish, and lumpia. The portions were good and the taste was spot on. The chicken was super flavourful and the fish was perfectly grilled and very moist (not easy to do with grilled fish!). I could eat the garlic rice all day, it was pure comfort food. The presentation on banana leaves was a nice touch, and the extra effort even for take out was appreciated. The delicious food aside, we had an awesome chat with the owner when we picked up the food. He told us the story of the restaurant and of his grandmother, and it's the kind of thing that really warms your heart. We will certainly be back to try the rest of the menu!
