One of my favourite and regular places to hike. Great for snowshoeing in the Winter. Also note that sometimes the water level will flood in Spring and you will not be able to do the full trail loop.

One of the best place to see wildlife and especially birds. There are painter turtles, snapping turtles, heron, egrets, ducks, geese, and all kinds of song birds. Go early before the crowds to enjoy it the most. There is a lake as well for winter skating, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. One of my favourite places

Always love mud lake. Guaranteed to see wildlife. We counted 52 squirrels, 3 woodpeckers, lots of chickadees and a rabbit. Sad to see so many being fed even though there were signs asking you not to feed wildlife.

Amazing trail system, populated but there was a Screech-Owl and the Easter weekend. Trail was washed out at the end but still not worth taking a star away. Plenty of birds, we saw nuthatches, red winged black birds, robins, chickadees, turkeys, woodpeckers and a bunch of wood ducks. Along with the usual mallards and geese.

A nice easy walk with a variety of ducks, geese, birds, and snappers in the water. Be aware of poison ivy and please don't litter.

I've seen countless species of birds, squirrels, rabbits and even deer on my hikes here. The trail is well-maintained and the scenery is breathtaking. We had to go on a different smaller trail as the normal mud lake trail we do is closed until December. Still it was a nice walk about with the kids and we saw quite a few animals. Mallards, Wood ducks, chickadees, American goldfinches, red squirrels and chipmunks. As well as a few frogs and what I believe to have been a green backed heron or night heron and a great heron.

We had a very enjoyable walk on the Mud Lake Trail today. Saw lots of wildlife. Ducks, geese, so many squirrels & lots of birds. The highlight for the children was the bunny! Such a great outdoor classroom for the kids to have fun learning to appreciate nature.

Beautiful walking trails but trails are fairly narrow at some points. Peaceful and not too busy (we went after dinner). There is quite a bit of poison ivy around so wear long pants and dont forget your waterbottle and bug spray. Watch where you are walking....several branches and tree roots along the pathway.

Birds galore and such a peaceful trail amidst the greenery and gorgeous lake views. Pictures don’t do justice to the sights offered. Close to Britannia beach and the trail is wonderful even on a hot day due to the green canopy & chirping birds.

Nicely maintain trail. Lots of diversity in birds. The trail isn't overly long, about 1h at a slow pace to go around. No dogs allowed.

This is a really nice, very easy, scenic trail in the Britannia Conservation Area that circles Mud Lake and incorporates some land around the Britannia Water Purification Plant. You can access the trail off the Ottawa River Pathway and there are many places to park close by. You can use strollers and other mobility assisted devices as the terrain is pretty flat. The path is somewhat narrow in places and you cannot go in certain areas, which I'm assuming it's a way to limit traffic during covid, but I'm not sure. Be prepared for squirrels and chipmunks that are neither people nor camera shy. Some of the trees in this area are massive.

Gorgeous conservation area. Lovely to walk any time of year. Easy trails, and lots of wild life. Bring some bird seed for the chickadees!

We love the trail that goes along the river, in the end of the trail birds literally fly to you and land on your hands to be fed.

I am so in love with that place! Conservation area where you can see different species of animals at a close distance from you from ducks, squirels, beavers etc. There is also a dock where you can watch the water turtles and frogs. Easy trail not stroller friendly though. Just watch out for ticks and snakes. Very peaceful and quiet spot. Street parking.

Forever one of my favourite places in Ottawa! I highly recommend you trying out the trail, it is very flat/family friendly. It is so magical during weekdays (less people). Beautiful nature/wildlife everywhere! This trail is beautiful all year round, be sure to visit during different seasons.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Went for a short "me time" walk, and as usual I was able to see nature in the city, like this cute hare. At this place you can feed birds (chickadees and nuthaches), see deers, wild turkeys, red squirrels, chipmunk and a porcupine if you are lucky. If you go to the left trail, and then turn 1st le...
