😠 Black flies, bugs and seagulls have taken over this place. I'm ok with that, the nature has a right to make places inhabitable to humans. But this place cannot be called a picnic spot especially when you have kids with you, and a swamp of insects is waiting for you. People often mention Ottawa, spot, picnic,

Great place to get photos of the sunset. There's lots of parking and it has not felt super busy even though we've gone on weekends. We even caught a few white water kayakers once which was super neat!

Nice serene place on Ottawa River between Ottawa and Gatineau. Picnic tables, free parking and good view of water and surroundings. Not long trails for biking or walking, but great view for any fireworks.

Great place to take in a bit of nature without leaving the city. Nice fishing spot, but do be careful if you're wading in. The current can be EXTREMELY deceptive and can easily sweep you away, no matter how strong a swimmer you are. I recommend going in no deeper than up to your knees. Have fun and stay safe!

Quiet place to spend time with a book and on a weekend. Right now due to maintenance work on the road , accessibility is a bit of an an issue.

Best waterfront location viewing experience and waterfront parking spot anywhere around Ottawa. I have looked all up and down the Ottawa River and the Rideau Canal, and driven to countless spots, and this so far takes the cake. On the east side you have the rapids both north and south, hearing the rushing of the waves while you have your picnic or have a chat. On the very eastern corner you have possibly one of the best viewpoints for the Ottawa riverside scenery, both during day and night time. However, enter the west side for a piece of tranquility. The water here tend to be much calmer than the west side. On really quiet early mornings, it can almost seem like a glass mirror reflecting the sky. It's definitely one of the best times to come here, if you can manage to wake up early. Overall, great spot that I used to come here almost every week for a parked picnic and enjoy the view when I lived closer. Also a great spot to watch geese and ducks when it's not winter.

Very cool place to just relax, take pictures, have a picnic or fish! There’s also free parking so it definitely makes for a fun time, the only draw back is that they close it very early during the summers.

Bate Island is such an oasis in Ottawa and Gatineau. This is my family's favorite location for picnics and watching people fish. It's not the easiest place to access, but worth the little extra effort.
