Really strange how it is possible in a developed country like Canada that we have to wait 10 hours in emergency with a sick distressed child or baby crying in hunger or pain or lack of sleep. After paying half of our salary for tax still we don't receive minimum value as human being. I don't know why government is not doing anything about it! The employees are checking one pt and then going for break for half an hour. Had to stand in the entrace even for 40 minutes without having anyone in front of us. They say that kids who are not seriously sick shouldnt come here as its not emergency. But then we can't find any family physician for 4 years after trying thousand times in thousand places! Where should we go with the kids? Really frustrating! I think they are taking advantage of helpless people and having fun playing with us. Its like they will make you wait 7 hours even if they can do it within one hour! Wish could give no star at all.

When your baby is sick , donโ€™t bring to this hospital! Oh wait .. this is the one and only children hospital in Ottawa and there is only one doctor at night ! We have to wait till morning to get the doctor! This is terrible. There was only 4 patients before us but nurse told us to wait till morning . Poor management . They should be replaced ASAP!

This place is a prime example of the negatives of our public health care system. Bring a tent, sleeping bags, mattresses, food rations for a few mealsโ€ฆ. Youโ€™re gonna be here for a while. This is a symptom of that flawed system. Meanwhile, the doctors, nurses, security were all top notch, kind caring humans and competent professionals. Admin needs to find a way to reduce waits times! 10+ hrs for something serious is not reasonable service.

It is very frustrating and extremely poor service, we have to wait for 12 hours to get elbow XR for my child who has fracture, the nurses and the doctor are very unfriendly. Really surprised with a developed country with such poor service, one physician working over night

Waited here for 7 hours at night, still did not see a physician. Luckily, they gave us a drug that did a temporarily relief. After returning home we all were sick with some strong respiratory virus that we caught while waiting there. Some parents ignored masks rules. But if there won't be so long wait time, it would be better. Ottawa should have more emergency hospitals, this one does not have enough capacity. Also, only one parent is allowed inside, so the other one will have to wait at street, or in car for many hours, even in a very cold weather. I'd avoid this place next time, but if there was a choice... While I was waiting there in line, I saw few mothers, who waited for hours to get help to their children who were just few months old. They cried in desperation, their children cried and could not sleep because of pain. I don't understand why this problem is neglected so much.

I arrive at the hospital with my toddler and husband at 7h50. We were told only one parent could go inside with our child. I am 5months pregnant so I stayed in my car for 4 hours and still waiting for both of them. My husband had arrived when there wasn't a lot a wait time but then everyone started to go in front of him even if they got here way after. Our health system needs to get better. I am very disappointed in this horrible experience.

When they wanted our blood for Covid research they were super nice and on time. But when we need them for an emergency, we need to wait 7 hours , there are 29 people waiting to be seen and 1 single doctor .. what a jokeโ€ฆ we also need to deal with a condescending nurse that asks us not to ask questions. My injured kid is sleeping on chair and shivering. We are parents that are worried about our kids.. this country has become a 3rd world country.. what a shame. They hold uregently needed funding for hospitals yet they will take every single penny you have and make you pay more taxes and give you less services.

Waited 15 hours for my 3 month old babyโ€™s high fever to be checked by a doctor. No sleep, no food and crying baby, I was fed up and left without seeing the doctor. You would think that a newborn would be treated as a priority. The healthcare system is an absolute embarrassment.

We came to the emergency for my 22 month old boy. And waiting there for almost 5 hour. And than they call my sons name we went inside. After they say not you different one. So I start complaining and than they check the system and find out my boy was checked already. So they picked another child with same name and removed us from list. This is insane.

Excellent service today at CHEO. It took a total of three hours to be seen by two levels of triage, to be seen by a doctor, receive treatment, run a few tests, and receive a prescription. I feel my daughter received excellent care today. Thank you so very much for all you do for your patients.

10 to 12hrs average! Waiting time at the emergency room, and on a Tuesday morning! This is unacceptable waiting times for urgent care and specially for children! Who are in pain, tired etc- we pay such high taxes in this country for a child to wait 10 to 12 hrs to be seeing in emergency- is unacceptable! This hospital management needs to do something about this, is shameful.

CHEO is an evidence of the broken Canadian healthcare system. Doctors are way overpaid ($500-$1200 per hour for specialists! ) so their salary eats away majority of the tax. Why can't they lower the doctor salary and add more doctors instead?

Amazing service! Nurses, doctors and all other staff absolutely excellent. Waiting times are frustrating, but that's what happens when they are heavily underfunded.
