I have listened to commercials for years about Knipple Nursery, and finally made time to travel and check it out. OMG. I so wish that I would have come years ago. At first I thought it pricey, however, the more I explored the more I saw that the plants, flowers, trees, shrubs, are not wee little plants. They are very well nurtured and developed. While other places may charge 30℅ less, the plant you'll get there is 75℅ less than here at Knipple. Staff are out inspecting, pruning, watering and helping customers, nonstop. People that work here KNOW their stuff. So helpful and patient, beautifully organized and everything you need. I think Mrs. Knipple served me!!! I have never seen such healthy and happy plants in a nursery before, not to mention the large variety. Excellent instructions provided for each plant I purchased. They asked things like where are you planning to plant this? Are there windows close by? Are you able to handle low, medium or high maintenance varieties. Excellent strong carts, level ground. For easy maneuvering. Credit cards, debit and cash accepted. I will never shop at Costco, Home Depot, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Loblaws or any of those types of stores again for my plants. ALL PLANTS ARE GUARANTEED and they record what you purchased, so you don't have to keep the tags. Wow factor! NOTE - returning a plant that did not do well was a very unpleasant experience. Made me feel very inferior. That was not necessary. Reduced to a 3 star. #localguide

I'm very happy with my new Sugar Maple trees planted by their professional people. Shout out to .Tony at Peter's for helping me find the right trees for my small backyard.

Giant selection, staff is knowledgeable... But YOU pay for it in their pricing. I buy annual baskets from random retailers yearly (since 2020), and replant them into my planter box to make my own assortment. Passers always stop to admire my flowers year in & year out. I did the same this year with Scaevolas from Knippel's & cheapie plants from Giant tiger & FreshCo. We DID have a cold spell (i covered these every night for two weeks). The flowers from Knippel's = 1/3 are dead. I paid 34$ for those. The pink ones? 12$ from Giant Tiger. The tall grass? 2$ from FreshCo. I reached out hoping to get a couple of replacement flowers from them, especially at a 34$ price point AND they died within 2wks, to no avail. In the end it's my fault ("replanting, cold, soil, sun, water, etc." their words), and i was credited 5$ to my account 😆 Go elsewhere. I expected some client service given it was <2wks and the price paid, but that's a nope.

So we solved the issue. I really appreciate the owner. I am the client of the nursery over 8 years. Last year I had purchased so many flowers and trees from this nursery for over $5000. When I was buying them I asked for one kind if they are going to survive for next year, they said YES and then I asked what if not? He(at least two of the staff) said keep the receipt, next year if it doesn't grow back take a photo and send us an email or bring it back to us and we can exchange with the same thing or something else. So guess what? Three of the plants didn't grow back and when I went there, the older lady apparently she is in charge too said "oh no we had a very harsh winter and we lost so many flowers and trees in here too, I can't exchange them it's nothing to do with us. All the staff had told me YES last summer, and now she says NO. As a client I don't worth it if they give me something else?? They are not even an expensive plant! So I spent over $5000 in there last summer and was told that there will be a warranty and now they say no there is not? I don't buy the plants from the big stores so I can help the local small businesses and now this is how they treat me? SO DISAPOINTED.

Can’t believe I haven’t been here before! Finally took the time to get some flowers and vegetables (late spring) and was totally impressed. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, competitive pricing, good selection. Best of all, it’s local and independently owned! Will be a repeat customer for sure.

Had great selection of outdoor plants. I was primarily looking for indoor plants, and while the selection was pretty limited, they did have some hidden gems at very reasonable prices. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The prices on some of their stuff seemed pretty high though, I found a bag of cactus mix was $8.99 while I found the exact same bag at another independent nursery/garden center for $5.49, both regular price.

Nice Nursery garden. The staff is helpful and nice. The pots are expensive but good quality. I haven't bought any plant yet but the soil they sell is very good also the food plant.

I thought I might put a little bush in my yard. Staff showed me bushes, and then suggested a Mulberry tree, and even set it aside for a week while I got organized. I'm so happy with it. It's a much better fit for me than whatever else I had planned. Staff are very personable and knowledgeable. I do not know much about plants but I felt very comfortable and satisfied with my experience.

My favourite garden centre in Ottawa! You can tell they really take great care of the plants — they’re always in great condition. While some garden centres really focus on the “décor” and extraneous stuff, I feel like Peter Knippel is truly all about the plants. Great selection and quality.

We were late with planting flowers this year, but found them here. My wife took a tumble, broke her femur, & we had to call an ambulance. The staff were all fantastic, especially Anna, and even co-owner Joan pitched. Umbrellas were even set up to keep her in the shade. Kudos and thanks to all.

Lovely place to shop at for flowers and plants! I come here every year at the beginning of spring and my flowers always bloom so beautifully. I had one plant that died within 3 days of me buying it, and the lady replaced it no problem. Lovely customer service and people.

Great selection is a plus. But they are on the pricey side. Still, nice place to shop for your gardens.

Nice place to shop for plants, trees, perinneals and Annuals. They have a good and knowlegeable staff. Lot of choices with clear instructions/prices on each of them. Most of the trees comes with one year warranty. Will recomment strongly.

Excellent and well cared for products and staff that know their stuff. We bought 2 trees last year that died because rabbits chewed the bark off of them. The Manager went out of his way to make sure we left happy - despite the fact that we freely admitted that this was entirely our fault. I support businesses that take customer support seriously and I will be back.

My husband and I couldn't be more pleased with the incredible service and selection we received from this nursery. We've had several visits this year and each one has been just as great as the next. Special thanks to Ryan who has been nothing but knowledgeable, patient and very helpful (especially since we know nothing about gardening and we took on a huge project this year to our property). We couldn't fathom going anywhere else after our wonderful experience. It is evident that this business values their customers. Great staff and service! Thank you!

Been in ottawa for years and just found out about this place. Has an amazing selection of trees, flowers and plants. Mostly outdoor selection areas. Pricey for their high demand landacaping products, but they are probably the highest quality nursery products in Ottawa. Bought a well maintained 3Gal Japenese Juniper for 39.99 + tx. Will update after transplant but dont forsee any issues.
