Restaurant area has plenty of seating with tables and booths. Bigger room available for parties in the back near the restrooms. Bar area offers stools and tables. Recommended for business meetings, family night out, dates, or just kick back for a few drinks.

I ordered a half ham for Christmas. It came in the pan already sliced and seasoned and with reheating instructions. It was delicious! Not a single complaint. The general consensus before eating was ‘It’s from Bubba-Q’s. It’s gotta be good!’ This was my first time ordering the meat for a holiday, but it will not be the last!

First time in Ottumwa, hotel recommended this place, so thinking it would be good. The menu is very large, so I ordered a specialty burger w fries… they don’t have fryers, so waitress explained they have home style potatoes so when our food arrived, those potatoes were barely warm, and so greasy looking. She asked how things were tasting so I told her I didn’t like the potatoes. She offered me something else, so I got coleslaw. It just wasn’t for us, it actually reminded me of a lower version of Famous Dave’s.

The food was excellent, their sauce was amazing! The corn and potato salad were copy cat worthy. So good. Thank you

My family & friend were in Ottumwa riding RAGBRAI LI. Food & service were Great! LOVED the House salad. RICH with vegetables: good Mixed greens, carrot, radish, red/green bell pepper, tomato, two types onions & shredded cheese. Kudos to the Chef!

This place was highly rated online and recommended by an Ottumwa resident so we had to try it. Don’t be fooled by the outside mall facade. Once you step inside it’s totally transformed into a barbecue joint. The menu is extensive and everything looked amazing. Great service and delicious food. My husband had the two meat platter of brisket and smoked turkey. The two bbq sauces were original and spicy. Both were very good. It came with two sides and Texas toast. The side selections were plentiful. I had the grilled salmon. Delicious! The salmon was seared to perfection. We will definitely go back if we are ever in the area again. You won’t be disappointed. Our server Laura was great!

Don’t get the burnt ends! It’s not burnt ends, it’s pot roast! You want burnt ends go to Texas. They are the only ones able and capable of making burnt ends. Key your server was great. Very attentive. John deer corn was a let down, it’s like the cilantro had sat out for days and lost all flavor. The loaded potato was great. The BBQ Chef Salad was delicious. The steak cut like leather would not recommend. They are located in an abandoned mall, very run down.

This place is phenomenal! DO NOT miss it. The all star here of course is the smoked meats (I can vouch for Brisket, Chicken, Sausage and Burnt Ends, all excellent!). But bubba's makes their own sauces and rubs, so that is even better. The sides were remarkable too! Potato Salad, Mac n Cheese and John Deere Corn were all worth the stomach space. I heard great things about their desserts but couldn't even consider them. Too full. My server was amazing. So helpful, pleasant, and speedy. Prices (believe it or not) were just a little lower than I have seen at other BBQ places. Lots of space at the bar if you want to socialize or pick a booth to have a more focused setting. Wherever else you go in life, make sure Bubba Q's is toward the top of your list.
