The avocado toast was deliciousness to the second power! A wheat toast with a large fresh tomato slice, huge amounts of creamy avocado, feta cheese, and two sunny side eggs on the side, that I incorporated into my toast. You need to try it! Pat the waitress was very attentive and kind, as all the rest of the employees have been to us during the last three days that we've been coming. I highly recommend this place!

Gotta love little restaurants, very old insides but nice friendly faces and quick paced kitchen. Options for vegans and vegetarians. Wide variety, I got the Pork Stir-fry and it's worth the money. Ask for soy sauce/teriyaki sauce because it needs a little more flavor but sooo well cooked.

I love Mom & Pop places, they have to fight the big chains, so when I find one, I make sure everyone else can find them! This place is like a great Greek and Italian diners on the east coast! The menu goes on for days and the waitresses are on point. I had Chicken Alfredo with broccoli, a salad, and tea. The place feels very homey and lots of locals to talk to. My WHOLE meal, including tip was 16$! Portions are huge. The one thing I really loved was there were lots of seniors hanging out and the waitresses treated them with patience and respect. Stop by and keep Mom and Pop places like the Riverside Restaurant serving their communities! Be sure to say Hi to Riverside, their feline greeter! There is parking for about 20-30 trucks behind the building.

Have you ever been to heaven? Of course not (cause your not dead), but this place here is as close to heaven as it gets! Food is awesome, and the staff is great! The breakfast!!! Man O Man, top notch! There hashy browns are as crispy as potato chips. There flap jacks are as fluffy as a cumulonimbus clouds (aka thunder clouds). Because every bite is like a thunder storm of flavor and awesomeness in your mouth, with Rocky Balboa punching your taste buds! (YO ADRIAN!). Hubby and I found this place on Google! (Thanks Google) It was a little busy on a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted and seated immediately. They have an extensive menu and serve soup daily. We ordered breakfast. I ordered the steak skillet, which was absolutely amazing. My hubby got a build you own omelet. We split a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy (only served til 2pm) it is THE BEST sausage gravy I've ever had!! And the pancakes were phenomenal!! We will definitely be back!!!

Been here on a 34 hour reset and my wife and I have been eating the best foods and and the milkshakes are delicious like heaven sent them. If you are a truck driver and want to eat like a king this is the place to be. I want a couple more of those milkshakes YUMYUMMITYYUM BETTER STOP AND GET SUMN!!!!

Our waitress was very accommodating and professional. That's why I give 1 stars. The food was absolutely horrible. Chicken and rice soup looked and tastes like wallpaper glue. Two ladies in our party are gluten free and simply asked for their meals to be prepared without bread, and of course bread cam on the plate. Gravy from a can with additional cornstarch tastes like cardboard. Ownership should reconsider the profession that they are in. Definitely will not return.

No pretence. Riverside does not pretend to be anything other than a solid place for classic dishes done the way you would expect. The decor is legit retro; the way o like it!

Awesome family restaurant. Really fast service during the lunch rush, seated , drinks and order taken. Clean, well kept, very reasonably priced. I will definitely be back!!

DON’T ORDER SALMON!!! Wasn’t cooked all the way and I got food poisoning and projectile vomiting all night long. Server was rude as well acted like she hated her job.

My entire family was greeted in the parking lot at 8:42 and was told "we are closed, you need to go elsewhere." This business closes at 10 and it wasn't even a quarter till 9 on a Friday. We drive from out of town to eat here and relied on their listed hours. I've never been treated so poorly before walking in the door somewhere. Shame on whoever is currently running this business and treated their longstanding customers so trashy. We won't be back, and we tip 40%. We will be going to Mike's Steakhouse instead where we are welcome.

We ate here last night & today for lunch. The food was Absolutely Delicious & the staff was super friendly, especially the two waitresses that we had. Will definitely stop in, anytime we're up this way again 💜❤

The servers are really great and friendly. The pictures do not do the food justice as they tasted and looked way better, but it’s a local restaurant so you usually don’t expect professional quality pictures. I have no complaints, if you’re looking for a burger, chicken fried steak, a nice American dinner, breakfast all day, or some great dessert this is your place! It’s not overpriced either! Definitely way better than the one is Osklaoosa, way cleaner and it is managed way better. The food tastes better as well. If the one in Osklaoosa ruined their reputation for you, go ahead and try the one in Ottumwa, it outweighs the other by far!

This place is popular for their extensive menu of home cooked meals. I didn't care for it. You can smell the fryer from the street. It's not very clean and is well overdue for a facelift. I got the "Village Salad that came with feta cheese, olives, onions and tomatoes. The salad had no olives and when I asked for some, I got a dish of black olives! Not good.

We love the Denver Omelet which comes with hash brown and your choice of toast or pancakes. Trust me you don't leave hungry. Also the waitresses are great

I used to absolutely love this place when I was younger. However when I went back a couple of months ago to order a burger it didn't taste the same at all as it used to: Ingredients were cheaper, the food was cold and the meat tasted weird. Granted one may say that this was a few months ago, so surely it'd had changed right? Nope, not at all. In fact I went there on Sunday and the food was just as bad, if not worse because the burger I usually got had a hair in it! Not to mention all the staff were teenage girls who barely knew what they were doing, were serving 2 tables at once compared to focusing on ours, were messing up our drinks and foods, and were even more focused on folding silverware than giving cooks our orders or even just taking ours right in front of us. I am unsure of what had happened but I am now very reluctant to come back here again.

I was there as a table of 6,(3 adults 3 kids).Busy, 1pm quite a shamble getting our orders taken.Side salad sent back. (definitely not fresh,warm an brown.) Otherwise food not bad.. I did return 1wk later at 4:30.with 3 grandkids. It was Soo much better. Food and service .We got a new waitress. I've found it to be a hit an miss situation. Breakfast is the best most anytime!

Last time i was here a few weeks ago, the service was slow and the waitress seemed more interested in helping the larger groups to get herself a better tip than just one or two person tables. The fact they are open for breakfast but cant have dinner hours until friday nights is a little absurd, lets face it, for a family restaurant, you cant go in any evening of the week and get the food you want. Seems silly to even be open part time.

Stopped in for a late breakfast. Large menu with a lot of selections. Had country fried steak and a couple over easy eggs. Those were just fine. The hash browns weren't. Looked like the cook burnt them on one side. They were dark brown almost black. He just stirred the burnt and good remaining potatoes all together. I tried to eat the better white part of it, but gave up. The service was good. Employees were friendly and accommodating.

Ate here this morning. Sat down fast, got drinks fast then was able to order after a few minutes. Best thing I’ve had so far each time is the country fried steak. Super big serving, have to take the rest home. Great staff and clean atmosphere.

3 eggs, 3 generous pieces of bacon with a mountain of hash brown and 3 pancakes with real butter for 8.50 can’t beat that! Quick and friendly service good people.

This is our second visit. We love the home cook meals... Delicious!
